| 3 | Mechanism of electroacupuncture on inflammatory pain: neural-immune-endocrine interactions显示文摘Nociceptive signals are transmitted by peripheral afferents to the central nervous system under pain condition, a process that involves various neurotransmitters and pathways. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been widely used as a pain management technique in clinical practice. Emerging studies have shown that EA can inhibit the induction and transmission of pain signals and, consequently, mediate anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects by rebalancing the neural-immune-endocrine interactions. This review summarizes the neural-immune- endocrine circuit including peripheral afferent and central efferent, contributing to EA-induced neuroimmune and neuroendocrine modulation in inflammatory pain models. The peripheral afferent circuit includes crosstalk among immune cells, inflammatory cytokines, peripheral nociceptors. In central efferent primarily involves the neuroinflammatory interactions between spinal nociceptive neurons and glial cells. Furthermore, the hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal axis, sympathetic and vagal nervous may serve as an essential pathway involved in the mechanism of acupuncture-mediated analgesia within the interactions of the central, immune and endocrine systems. | 5 | Effects of Citral on Aspergillus flavus Spores by Quasi-elastic Light Scattering and Multiplex Microanalysis Techniques显示文摘Citral refined from Litsea cubeba oil has been found to have a strong influence on fungi, especially Aspergillus flavus. Multiplex microanalysis and quasi-elastic light scattering techniques were applied to study the effects of citral on Aspergillus flavus spores from the levels of membrane, organelle and intracellular macromolecule. It was found that citral injured the wall and the membrane of A. flavus spore, resulting in decrease of its elasticity. After entering the cell, citral not only influenced the genetic expression of mitochondrion reduplication and its morphology, but also changed the aggregation of protein-like macromolecules. As a result, cells, organelles and macromolecules lost their normal structures and functions, eventually leading to the loss of germination ability of A. flavus spores. | 6 | Prognostic implications of epidermal growth factor receptor variant Ⅲ expression and nuclear translocation in Chinese human gliomas显示文摘Objective: To determine the prognostic implications and clinical significance of epidermal growth factor receptor variant Ⅲ(EGFRvⅢ) expression and EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation in Chinese human gliomas.Methods: We retrospectively examined EGFRvⅢ expression and EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation using immunohistochemistry in specimens of 240 Chinese patients with glioma, including 84 World Health Organization(WHO) II gliomas, 84 WHO Ⅲ gliomas and 72 glioblastomas(WHO IV). Factors that correlated with EGFRvⅢ and EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation expression were analyzed by the Chi-square test. Kaplan-Meier methodology and Cox regression were used for the survival analysis.Results: Log-rank tests showed that patient age, Karnofsky performance scale(KPS) score, tumor grade,EGFRvⅢ expression, EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation, 1 p/19 q codeletion, isocitrate dehydrogenase(IDH)mutation, Ki-67 labeling index and O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase(MGMT) status(P<0.05) were significantly correlated with overall survival(OS) time. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that patient age, tumor grade, EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation, 1 p/19 q codeletion, and IDH mutation(P<0.05) were significantly correlated with OS. Patients with a high level of EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation(≥7%) had both significantly shorter OS [hazard ratio(HR): 1.920, 95% confidence interval(95% CI): 1.228-3.003, P=0.004] and progression-free survival(PFS) times(HR: 1.661, 95% CI: 1.116-2.471, P=0.012) than those with a low level of EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation(<7%).Conclusions: A high level of EGFRvⅢ nuclear translocation in glioma is an independent factor indicating a poor prognosis, but EGFRvⅢ expression is not an independent clinical prognostic factor. | 7 | Effect of Ni addition on the glass-forming ability and soft-magnetic properties of FeNiBPNb metallic glasses显示文摘The effect of Ni addition on the glass-forming ability (GFA) and soft-magnetic properties of an (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 (x=0-0.6) alloy system were investigated. We found that the addition of Ni was effective in allowing the alloy to approach a eutectic point as well as increasing the thermal stability of the supercooled liquid. By increasing the amount of Ni,the supercooled liquid region (ΔTx),the reduced glass transition temperature Trg (Tg/Tl) and the Y parameter [Tx/(Tg+Tl)] increased from 49 to 75 K,0.540 to 0.594 and 0.373 to 0.405,respectively. As a result,novel (Fe1-xNix)75.5B14.5P7Nb3 bulk metallic glass (BMG) rods with a maximum diameter of 1 mm were synthesized with a composition of x=0.5 and x=0.6 by copper mold casting. These metallic glasses have a moderate saturation magnetization of 0.37-1.20 T with good soft-magnetic properties,i.e. a low coercivity of 1.4-3.3 A/m and a high effective permeability of 13100-20900 at 1 kHz. | 8 | Relationship between encephalopathy and portal vein-vena cava shunt:Value of computed tomography during arterial portography显示文摘AIM: TO assess the value of computed tomography during arterial portography (CTAP) in portal vein-vena cava shunt,and analysis of the episode risk in encephalopathy.METHODS: Twenty-nine patients with portal-systemic encephalopathy due to portal hypertension were classified by West Haven method into grade Ⅰ(29 cases), gradeⅡ(16 cases), grade Ⅲ(10 cases), grade Ⅳ( 4 cases). All the patients were scanned by spiraI-CT. Plane scans, artery phase and portal vein phase enhancement scans were performed, and the source images were thinly reconstructed to 1.25 mm. We reconstructed the celiac trunk, portal vein,inferior vena cava and their branches and subjected them to three-dimensional vessel analysis by volume rendering(VR) technique and multiplanar volume reconstruction (MPVR) technique. The blood vessel reconstruction technique was used to evaluate the scope and extent of portal vein-vena cava shunt, portal vein emboli and the fistula of hepatic artery- portal vein. The relationship between the episode risk of portal-systemic encephalopathy and the scope and extent of portal vein-vena cava shunt,portal vein emboli and fistula of hepatic artery- portal vein was studied.RESULTS: The three-dimensional vessel reconstruction technique of spiraI-CT could display celiac trunk, portal vein,inferior vena cava and their branches at any planes and angles and the scope and extent of portal vein-vena cavashunt, portal vein emboli and the fistula of hepatic artery- portal vein. In twenty-nine patients with portal-systemicencephalopathy, grade Ⅰ accounted for 89.7% esophageal varices, 86.2% paragastric varices; grade Ⅱ accounted for 68.75% cirsomphalos, 56.25% paraesophageal varices,62.5% retroperitoneal varices and 81.25% dilated azygos vein; grade Ⅲ accounted for 80% cirsomphalos, 60%paraesophageal varices, 70% retroperitoneal varices, 90% dilated azygos vein, and part of the patients in grades Ⅱand Ⅲ had portal vein emboli and fistula of hepatic arteryportal vein; grade Ⅳ accounted for 75% dilated left renal vein, 50% paragallbladder varices, all the patients had fistula of hepatic artery- portal vein.CONCLUSION: The three-dimensional vessel reconstruction technique of spiraI-CT can clearly display celiac trunk, portal vein, inferior vena cava and their branches at any planes and angles and the scope and extent of portal vein-vena cava shunt. | 14 | Relation between the characteristics of strong earthquake activities in Chinese mainland and the Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘This paper studies the relations between the great Wenchuan earthquake and the active-quiet periodic characteristics of strong earthquakes,the rhythmic feature of great earthquakes,and the grouped spatial distribution of MS8.0 earthquakes in Chinese mainland.We also studied the relation between the Wenchuan earthquake and the stepwise migration characteristics of MS≥7.0 earthquakes on the North-South seismic belt,the features of the energy releasing acceleration in the active crustal blocks related to the Wenchuan earthquake and the relation between the Wenchuan earthquake and the so called secondarc fault zone.The results can be summarized as follows:1 the occurrence of the Wenchuan earthquake was consistent with the active-quiet periodic characteristics of strong earthquakes;2 its occurrence is consistent with the features of grouped occurrence of MS8.0 earthquakes and follows the 25 years rhythm(each circulation experiences the same time) of great earthquakes;3 the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake follows the well known stepwise migration feature of strong earthquakes on the North-South seismic belt;4 the location where the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake took place has an obvious consistency with the temporal and spatial characteristic of grouped activity of MS≥7.0 strong earthquakes on the secondarc fault zone;5 the second-arc fault zone is not only the lower boundary for earthquakes with more than 30 km focal depth,but also looks like a lower boundary for deep substance movement;and 6 there are obvious seismic accelerations nearby the Qaidam and Qiangtang active crustal blocks(the northern and southern neighbors of the Bayan Har active block,respectively),which agrees with the GPS observation data. | Xiaodong Zhang Guohua Yang Xian Lu Mingxiao Li Zhigao Yang | 2009 | Earthquake Science2009,22,5: | 3 |

| 17 | Seismic comprehensive forecast based on modified project pursuit regression显示文摘In the research of projection pursuit for seismic comprehensive forecast,the algorithm of projection pursuit regression(PPR) is one of most applicable methods.But generally,the algorithm structure of the PPR is very complicated.By partial smooth regressions for many times,it has a large amount of calculation and complicated extrapolation,so it is easily trapped in partial solution.On the basis of the algorithm features of the PPR method,some solutions are given as below to aim at some shortcomings in the PPR calculation:to optimize project direction by using particle swarm optimization instead of Gauss-Newton algorithm,to simplify the optimal process with fitting ridge function by using Hermitian polynomial instead of piecewise linear regression.The overall optimal ridge function can be obtained without grouping the parameter optimization.The modeling capability and calculating accuracy of projection pursuit method are tested by means of numerical emulation technique on the basis of particle swarm optimization and Hermitian polynomial,and then applied to the seismic comprehensive forecasting models of polydimensional seismic time series and general disorder seismic samples.The calculation and analysis show that the projection pursuit model in this paper is characterized by simplicity,celerity and effectiveness.And this model is approved to have satisfactory effects in the real seismic comprehensive forecasting,which can be regarded as a comprehensive analysis method in seismic comprehensive forecast. | Anxu Wu Xiangdong Lin Changsheng Jiang Yongxian Zhang Xiaodong Zhang Mingxiao Li Ping'an Li | 2009 | Earthquake Science2009,22,5: | 3 |

| 19 | Sequencing and rescuing a highly virulent classical swine fever virus: Chinese strain cF114 from a full-length cDNA clone显示文摘The complete nucleotide sequence of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) strain cF114 (F114 strain propa- gated on PK-15 cells) was cloned by RT-PCR. The analyses of nucleotide and amino acids identity between cF114 and F114, Brescia, Alfort or C strain were 99.41%, 96.80%, 86.03%, 95.70% and 99.28%, 98.54%, 93.33%, 97.41% re- spectively. The cDNA fragments with correct sequence were ligated into a full-length cDNA and inserted into pMC18 plasmid (pMC12297). A full-length infectious viral RNA was synthesized by runoff transcription and transfected to PK15 cells. Viruses were recovered from transfected cells which wese titrated on PK-15 cells by endpoint dilution and indirect immunofluorescence with a CSFV-specific monoclonal antibody. The antigenicity and replication kinetics of the plasmid-derived virus (vM12297) were similar to the parental virus in vitro. The E01 or E2 gene was replaced with the genes from strain C and the pM/CE01 and pM/CE2 with chimeric full-length cDNA of cF114 were generated. The infectious viruses were obtained from pM/CE01 and pM/CE2. Both of the chimeric viruses can infect PK-15, SK- 6 and primary testicle cell of swine. The chimeric viruses can grow to a titer of 8?05 F-PFU/mL.
