1Major Function Oriented Zone: New Method of Spatial Regulation for Reshaping Regional Development Pattern in China显示文摘Newest planning methods implemented by Chinese government are promoting a coordinated regional development and shaping an orderly spatial structure by applying the regulation of territorial function. This article analyzes the problems of spatial planning and regional strategy caused by the wrongly-set primary goal of economic development; it states that the three-fold objective of competitiveness, sustainability, and welfare fairness shall be the principal for China to implement the spatial regulation in the new era; it discusses about theoretical thoughts and technology framework of conducting the ′Major Function Oriented Zone′ based on their different major functions that each region plays in urbanization and industrialization, ecological constructions, grain productions, and protection of natural and cultural heritages; it introduces the new concept of ′Major Function Oriented Zone′ that include the major functions category, the stereo regional equilibrium mode, the two-level zoning specification, and the territorial development intensity; it offers a zoning scheme that defines development-optimized and development-prioritized zones as regions with massive urbanization and industrialization, development-restricted zones as ecological constructing or grain producing regions, development-prohibited zones as natural and cultural heritage protecting regions; and finally it addresses the main obstacle for implementing ′Major Function Oriented Zone′, which is the institutional arrangement of the supreme goal of high GDP growth rate that is currently being implemented.FAN Jie SUN Wei ZHOU Kan CHEN Dong 2012Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,2:31
2Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20
3Bayesian Reliability Modeling and Assessment Solution for NC Machine Tools under Small-sample Data显示文摘Although Markov chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) algorithms are accurate, many factors may cause instability when they are utilized in reliability analysis; such instability makes these algorithms unsuitable for widespread engineering applications. Thus, a reliability modeling and assessment solution aimed at small-sample data of numerical control(NC) machine tools is proposed on the basis of Bayes theories. An expert-judgment process of fusing multi-source prior information is developed to obtain the Weibull parameters' prior distributions and reduce the subjective bias of usual expert-judgment methods. The grid approximation method is applied to two-parameter Weibull distribution to derive the formulas for the parameters' posterior distributions and solve the calculation difficulty of high-dimensional integration. The method is then applied to the real data of a type of NC machine tool to implement a reliability assessment and obtain the mean time between failures(MTBF). The relative error of the proposed method is 5.8020×10-4 compared with the MTBF obtained by the MCMC algorithm. This result indicates that the proposed method is as accurate as MCMC. 5A Time Series Analysis of Outdoor Air Pollution and Preterm Birth in Shanghai, China显示文摘Objective To investigate the relation between air pollution exposure and preterm birth in Shanghai, China. Methods We examined the effect of ambient air pollution on preterm birth using time-series approach in Shanghai in 2004. This method can eliminate potential confounding by individual risk factors that do not change over a short period of time. Daily numbers of preterm births were obtained from the live birth database maintained by Shanghai Municipal Center of Disease Control and Prevention. We used the generalized additive model (GAM) with penalized splines to analyze the relation between preterm birth, air pollution, and covariates. Results We observed a significant effect of outdoor air pollution only with 8-week exposure before preterm births. An increase of 10 μg/m3 of 8-week average PM10, SO2, NO2, and O3 corresponded to 4.42% (95%CI 1.60%, 7.25%), 11.89% (95%CI 6.69%, 17.09%), 5.43% (95%CI 1.78%, 9.08%), and 4.63% (95%CI 0.35%, 8.91%) increase of preterm birth. We did not find any significant acute effect of outdoor air pollution on preterm birth in the week before birth. Conclusion Ambient air pollution may contribute to the risk of preterm birth in Shanghai. 6Evaluation and Analysis of Provincial Differences in Resources and Environment Carrying Capacity in China显示文摘Resources and environment carrying capacity is central to not only regional sustainable development but also major function-oriented zoning. This paper presents an evaluation index system for resources and environment carrying capacity based on four aspects of carrying capacity(i.e., water resources, land resources, the environment, and ecosystems) by using a square deviation decision-making method, and on the basis of above effort evaluates the resources and environment carrying capacity across 31 provincial regions in China(not including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China). In addition, this paper evaluates the current state of socio-economic development, and analyzes the spatial distribution of resources and environment pressure. The results showed that distinct spatial differences in resources and environment carrying capacity and pressure across provincial regions. Resources and environment pressure is affected by both comprehensive resources and environment carrying capacity and socio-economic development. Regions subjected to lower degrees of resources and environment pressure will be restricted by resources and environmental problems through future courses of development owing to excessively low carrying capacities. By contrast, regions with higher comprehensive resources and environment carrying capacity will be subjected to excessively high levels of resources and environment pressure because of rapid socio-economic development. 7Spinal cord decompression reduces rat neural cell apoptosis secondary to spinal cord injury显示文摘Objective:To determine whether spinal cord decompression plays a role in neural cell apoptosis after spinal cord injury. Study design:We used an animal model of compressive spinal cord injury with incomplete paraparesis to evaluate neural cell apoptosis after decompression. Apoptosis and cellular damage were assessed by staining with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(TdT)-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick-end labelling(TUNEL) and immunostaining for caspase-3,Bcl-2 and Bax. Methods:Experiments were conducted in male Sprague-Dawley rats(n=78) weighing 300~400 g. The spinal cord was compressed posteriorly at T10 level using a custom-made screw for 6 h,24 h or continuously,followed by decompression by removal of the screw. The rats were sacrificed on Day 1 or 3 or in Week 1 or 4 post-decompression. The spinal cord was removed en bloc and examined at lesion site,rostral site and caudal site(7.5 mm away from the lesion). Results:The numbers of TUNEL-positive cells were significantly lower at the site of decompression on Day 1,and also at the rostral and caudal sites between Day 3 and Week 4 post-decompression,compared with the persistently compressed group. The numbers of cells between Day 1 and Week 4 were immunoreactive to caspase-3 and B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2)-associated X-protein(Bax),but not to Bcl-2,correlated with those of TUNEL-positive cells. 8Effects of probiotic therapy on hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis:an updated meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials显示文摘BACKGROUND: Liver cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy have poor prognosis. Probiotics alter the intestinal microbiota and reduce the production of ammonia. We conducted a meta-analysis about the role of probiotics on liver cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy.DATA SOURCES: We collected the relevant literatures up to February 21, 2014 from databases of PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. A statistical analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.2 and STATA 12.0 software.RESULTS: Six randomized controlled trials involving 496 liver cirrhotic patients were included. The results showed that probiotic therapy significantly reduced the development of overt hepatic encephalopathy(OR [95% CI]: 0.42 [0.26, 0.70],P=0.0007). 9Association between Ambient Air Pollution and Outpatient Visits for Acute Bronchitis in a Chinese City显示文摘Objective To investigate the short-term association between outdoor air pollution and outpatient visits for acute bronchitis,which is a rare subject of research in the mainland of China.Methods A time-series analysis was conducted to examine the association of outdoor air pollutants with hospital outpatient visits in Shanghai by using two-year daily data(2010-2011).Results Outdoor air pollution was found to be associated with an increased risk of outpatient visits for acute bronchitis in Shanghai.The effect estimates of air pollutants varied with the lag structures of the concentrations of the pollutants.For lag06,a 10 μg/m3 increase in the concentrations of PM10,SO2,and NO2 corresponded to 0.94%(95% CI:0.83%,1.05%),11.12%(95% CI:10.76%,11.48%),and 4.84%(95% CI:4.49%,5.18%) increases in hospital visits for acute bronchitis,respectively.These associations appeared to be stronger in females(P<0.05).Between-age differences were significant for SO2(P<0.05),and between-season differences were also significant for SO2(P<0.05).Conclusion Our analyses have provided the first evidence that the current air pollution level in China has an effect on acute bronchitis and that the rationale for further limiting air pollution levels in Shanghai should be strengthened.GUO Li Juan ZHAO Ang CHEN Ren Jie KAN Hai Dong KUANG Xing Ya 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,11:13

11MATLAB-Based Simulation of Buoyancy-Driven Underwater Glider Motion显示文摘The mass configuration of the buoyancy-driven underwater glider is decomposed and defined. The coupling between the glider body and its internal masses is addressed using the energy law. A glider motion model is established, and the corresponding simulation program is derived using MATLAB. The characteristics of the glider motion are explored using this program. The simula- tion results show that the basic characteristic of a buoyancy-driven underwater glider is the periodic alternation of downward and upward motions. The glider's spiral motion can be applied to missions in restricted regions. The glider's horizontal velocity, gliding depth and its motion radius in spiral motion can be changed to meet different application purposes by using different glider parameter designs. 12Improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with holmium substitution显示文摘The effects of Ho substitution for Nd on the microstructure, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated. The(Nd,Ho)-O phase was formed with increasing Ho substitution. The results of potentiodynamic polarization and highly accelerated stress test show improved corrosion resistance with increasing Ho substitution. The optimum mass loss 0.29 mg/cm^2 is achieved.Moreover, the average temperature coefficients for remanence and coercivity in the range of 25-150℃are both closer to zero, indicating improved thermal stability. 13Effect of coating modification of cordierite carrier on catalytic performance of supported NiMnO_3 catalysts for VOCs combustion显示文摘NiMnO_3 perovskite catalysts supported on cordierite modified by Ce_xZr_(1-x)O_2 coatings were prepared using impregnation and sol-gel methods for catalytic combustion of single/double component VOCs at different concentrations and GHSV of 15,000 h^(-1), which were characterized by BET, XRD, SEM, FT-IR, H_2-TPR and O_2-TPD. After coating modification, the specific surface area of catalysts is improved obviously.Among the catalysts, the Ce_(0.75)Zr_(0.25)O_2 coating modified NiMnO_3 catalyst exhibits the best catalytic activity for VOCs combustion with 95.6% conversion at 275 ℃ and has stable activity when catalyst is embalmed at 800 ℃. In addition, the catalyst also presents the excellent water-resistant and conversion stability over time-on-stream condition. 16Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy.METHODS:In this meta-analysis,we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H.pylori therapy in adults.Searches were mainly conducted in MEDLINE/Pub Med,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.Fourteen studies met our criteria,and the quality of these studies was assessedusing the Jadad scale.We used STATA version 12.0to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios(ORs),which are presented with the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).The data are presented as forest plots.RESULTS:The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and perprotocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67(95%CI:1.38-2.02)and 1.68(95%CI:1.35-2.08),respectively,using the fixed-effects model.The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies(Asian:OR=1.78,95%CI:1.40-2.26;Caucasian:OR=1.48,95%CI:1.06-2.05).The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was significantly lower in the probiotic group(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.94),using the random effects model,with significant heterogeneity(I2=85.7%).The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.06-0.74),whereas the incidence of taste disorders,metallic taste,vomiting,nausea,and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group.CONCLUSION:Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H.pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate,particularly in Asian patients,and the incidence of total adverse effects.Rong Zhu Kan Chen Yuan-Yuan Zheng Hua-Wei Zhang Jun-Shan Wang Yu-Jing Xia Wei-Qi Dai Fan Wang Miao Shen Ping Cheng Yan Zhang Cheng-Fen Wang Jing Yang Jing-Jing Li Jie Lu Ying-Qun Zhou Chuan-Yong Guo 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:9
17A chlorinated low-bandgap small-molecule acceptor for organic solar cells with 14.1% efficiency and low energy loss显示文摘A new acceptor-donor-acceptor(A-D-A) type small-molecule acceptor NCBDT-4 Cl using chlorinated end groups is reported.This new-designed molecule demonstrates wide and efficient absorption ability in the range of 600–900 nm with a narrow optical bandgap of 1.40 eV. The device based on PBDB-T-SF:NCBDT-4 Cl shows a power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 13.1%without any post-treatment, which represents the best result for all as-cast organic solar cells(OSCs) to date. After device optimizations, the PCE was further enhanced to over 14% with a high short-circuit current density(Jsc) of 22.35 m A cm-2 and a fill-factor(FF) of 74.3%. The improved performance was attributed to the more efficient photo-electron conversion process in the optimal device. 18Daily Visibility and Hospital Admission in Shanghai, China显示文摘Objective The study is to investigate the associations between visibility, major air pollutants and daily counts of hospital admission in Shanghai, China. Methods Daily data on hospital admission, visibility, and air pollution during 2005‐2008 were obtained from the Shanghai Insurance Bureau (SHIB), Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, and Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center, respectively. The generalized additive model (GAM) with penalized splines was used to examine the associations between daily visibility and hospital admission. Results Among various pollutants, PM 2.5 showed strongest correlation with visibility. Decreased visibility was significantly associated with increased risk of hospital admission in Shanghai. An inter‐quartile range decrease in the 2‐day (L01) moving average of visibility corresponded to 3.66% (95%CI: 1.02%, 6.31%), 4.06% (95%CI: 0.84%, 7.27%), and 4.32% (95%CI: 1.67%, 6.97%) increase of total, cardiovascular, and respiratory hospitalizations, respectively. 19One-pot hydrothermal fabrication of α-Fe_2O_3@C nanocomposites for electrochemical energy storage显示文摘A facile hydrothermal method was developed for the preparation of Fe_2O_3@C nanocomposites using FeCl_3·6H_2O as iron source and glucose as carbon source under alkaline condition. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared product were identified by transmission electron microscopy(TEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The as-prepare α-Fe_2O_3@C nanocomposites were employed for supercapacitor electrode material. The synergistic combination of carbon electrical double-layer capacitance and α-Fe_2O_3 pseudo-capacitance established such nanocomposites as versatile platform for high performance supercapacitors.
