| 1 | Science and Prediction of Heavy Rainfall over China:Research Progress since the Reform and Opening-Up of New China显示文摘This paper reviews the major progress on development of the science and prediction of heavy rainfall over China since the beginning of the reform and opening-up of new China(roughly between 1980 and 2019).The progress of research on the physical mechanisms of heavy rainfall over China is summarized from three perspectives:1)the relevant synoptic weather systems,2)heavy rainfall in major sub-regions of China,and 3)heavy rainfall induced by typhoons.The development and application of forecasting techniques for heavy rainfall are summarized in terms of numerical weather prediction techniques and objective forecasting methods.Greatly aided by the rapid progress in meteorological observing technology and substantial improvement in electronic computing,studies of heavy rainfall in China have advanced to investigating the evolution of heavy-rain-producing storms and observational analysis of the cloud microphysical features.A deeper and more systematic understanding of the synoptic systems of importance to the production of heavy rainfall has also been developed.Operational forecast of heavy rainfall in China has changed from subjective weather event forecasts to a combination of both subjective and objective quantitative precipitation forecasts,and is now advancing toward probabilistic quantitative precipitation forecasts with the provision of forecast uncertainty information. | Yali LUO Jisong SUN Ying LI Rudi XIA Yu DU Shuai YANG Yuanchun ZHANG Jing CHEN Kan DAI Xueshun SHEN Haoming CHEN Feifan ZHOU Yimin LIU Shenming FU Mengwen WU Tiangui XIAO Yangruixue CHEN Huiqi LI Mingxin LI | 2020 | Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,3: | 10 |
| 2 | Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy.METHODS:In this meta-analysis,we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H.pylori therapy in adults.Searches were mainly conducted in MEDLINE/Pub Med,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.Fourteen studies met our criteria,and the quality of these studies was assessedusing the Jadad scale.We used STATA version 12.0to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios(ORs),which are presented with the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).The data are presented as forest plots.RESULTS:The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and perprotocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67(95%CI:1.38-2.02)and 1.68(95%CI:1.35-2.08),respectively,using the fixed-effects model.The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies(Asian:OR=1.78,95%CI:1.40-2.26;Caucasian:OR=1.48,95%CI:1.06-2.05).The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was significantly lower in the probiotic group(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.94),using the random effects model,with significant heterogeneity(I2=85.7%).The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.06-0.74),whereas the incidence of taste disorders,metallic taste,vomiting,nausea,and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group.CONCLUSION:Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H.pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate,particularly in Asian patients,and the incidence of total adverse effects. | Rong Zhu Kan Chen Yuan-Yuan Zheng Hua-Wei Zhang Jun-Shan Wang Yu-Jing Xia Wei-Qi Dai Fan Wang Miao Shen Ping Cheng Yan Zhang Cheng-Fen Wang Jing Yang Jing-Jing Li Jie Lu Ying-Qun Zhou Chuan-Yong Guo | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47: | 9 |

| 4 | Fabrication of carboxymethyl chitosan–hemicellulose resin for adsorptive removal of heavy metals from wastewater显示文摘Carboxymethyl chitosan–hemicellulose resin(CMCH) was synthesized by thermal cross-linking process and characterized by FTIR, TGA, and SEM. Subsequently, the adsorption properties of CMCH toward Ni(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅶ) and Cr(Ⅵ) were evaluated. Various factors affecting the uptake behavior such as pH, temperature, contact time and the initial concentration of the metal ions were investigated.The results showed that all adsorption processes fit the pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm equation. | 5 | Lessons Learned from the Tragedy during the 100 km Ultramarathon Race in Baiyin,Gansu Province on 22 May 2021显示文摘Twenty-one runners died of hypothermia during the 100 km Ultramarathon Mountain race in Baiyin,Gansu Province on 22 May 2021.The hypothermia was caused by a combination of low temperatures,precipitation,and high winds associated with a typical large-scale cold front passing by the race site that morning.Based on historical hourly records of 13 meteorological surface stations over the past six years,temperature(3.0°C)and apparent temperature(−5.1°C)at 1200 LST as well as gust wind speed(11.2 m s^(−1))at 1100 LST on the day of the tragedy were found to be within the top or bottom 5th percentile for the month of May.The precipitation was only moderate at this time,but when temperature lower than 3.0°C,gust wind speed greater than 11.2 m s^(−1),and precipitation greater than 0.1 mm for any adjacent three hours were combined together,1200 LST 22 May fell within the top 0.1%of cases.The European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasting model produced reasonably good forecasts of the low temperature and high wind one day and seven days before the event,respectfully.Based on this study,lessons that can be learned from this tragedy are summarized from an academic perspective:Hazard and impact forecasts of high-impact weather events should be developed to increase the value of weather forecasts.Probability forecasts should be issued by government weather agencies and communicated well to the public.And more importantly,knowledge of how to evaluate the impact of weather should be delivered to the public in the future.We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the people who lost their lives in this tragedy,including 21 runners and one officer.May our efforts honor those who lost their lives by highlighting the value of weather forecasting and calling for greater action in the future. | Qinghong ZHANG Chan-Pang NG Kan DAI Jun XU Jian TANG Juanzhen SUN Mu MU | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,11: | 2 |
| 6 | Quantitative Precipitation Forecasting Using Multi-Model Blending with Supplemental Grid Points:Experiments and Prospects in China显示文摘Quantitative Precipitation Forecast(QPF)is a challenging issue in seamless prediction.QPF faces the following difficulties:(i)single rather than multiple model products are still used;(ii)most QPF methods require long-term training samples not easily available,and(iii)local features are insufficiently reflected.In this work,a multi-model blending(MMB)algorithm with supplemental grid points(SGPs)is experimented to overcome these shortcomings.The MMB algorithm includes three steps:(1)single-model bias-correction,(2)dynamic weight MMB,and(3)light-precipitation elimination.In step 1,quantile mapping(QM)is used and SGPs are configured to expand the sample size.The SGPs are chosen based on similarity of topography,spatial distance,and climatic characteristics of local precipitation.In step 2,the dynamic weight MMB uses the idea of ensemble forecasting:a precipitation process can be forecast if more than 40% of the models predict such a case;moreover,threat score(TS)is used to update the weights of ensemble members.Finally,in step 3,the number of false alarms of light precipitation is reduced,thus alleviating unreasonable expansion of the precipitation area caused by the blending of multiple models.Verification results show that using the MMB algorithm has effectively improved the TS and bias score(BS)for blended 6-h QPF.The rate of increase in TS for heavy rainfall(25-mm threshold)reaches 20%-40%;in particular,the improvement has reached 47.6% for forecast lead time of 24 h,compared with the ECMWF model.Meanwhile,the BS is closer to 1,which is better than any single-model forecast.In sum,the QPF using MMB with SGPs shows great potential to further improve the present operational QPF in China. | Yu WANG Kan DAI Zhiping ZONG Yue SHEN Ruixia ZHAO Jian TANG Couhua LIU | 2021 | Journal of Meteorological Research2021,35,3: | 2 |

| 17 | Calibration of Gridded Wind Speed Forecasts Based on Deep Learning显示文摘The challenges of applying deep learning(DL) to correct deterministic numerical weather prediction(NWP) biases with non-Gaussian distributions are discussed in this paper.It is known that the DL UNet model is incapable of correcting the bias of strong winds with the traditional loss functions such as the MSE(mean square error),MAE(mean absolute error),and WMAE(weighted mean absolute error).To solve this,a new loss function embedded with a physical constraint called MAE_MR(miss ratio) is proposed.The performance of the UNet model with MAE_MR is compared to UNet traditional loss functions,and statistical post-processing methods like Kalman filter(KF) and the machine learning methods like random forest(RF) in correcting wind speed biases in gridded forecasts from the ECMWF high-resolution model(HRES) in East China for lead times of 1–7 days.In addition to MAE for full wind speed,wind force scales based on the Beaufort scale are derived and evaluated.Compared to raw HRES winds,the MAE of winds corrected by UNet(MAE_MR) improves by 22.8% on average at 24–168 h,while UNet(MAE),UNet(WMAE),UNet(MSE),RF,and KF improve by 18.9%,18.9%,17.9%,13.8%,and 4.3%,respectively.UNet with MSE,MAE,and WMAE shows good correction for wind forces 1–3 and 4,but negative correction for 6 or higher.UNet(MAE_MR) overcomes this,improving accuracy for forces 1–3,4,5,and 6 or higher by 11.7%,16.9%,11.6%,and 6.4% over HRES.A case study of a strong wind event further shows UNet(MAE_MR) outperforms traditional post-processing in correcting strong wind biases. | Xuan YANG Kan DAI Yuejian ZHU | 2023 | Journal of Meteorological Research2023,37,6: | 0 |

| 19 | Prediction of Driver Gene Matching in Lung Cancer NOG/PDX Models Based on Artificial Intelligence显示文摘Patient-derived tumor xenografts(PDXs)are a powerful tool for drug discovery and screening in cancer.However,current studies have led to little understanding of genotype mismatches in PDXs,leading to massive economic losses.Here,we established PDX models from 53 lung cancer patients with a genotype matching rate of 79.2%(42/53).Furthermore,17 clinicopathological features were examined and input in stepwise logistic regression(LR)models based on the lowest Akaike information criterion(AIC),least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)-LR,support vector machine(SVM)recursive feature elimination(SVM-RFE),extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),gradient boosting and categorical features(Cat Boost),and the synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE).Finally,the performance of all models was evaluated by the accuracy,area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),and F1 score in 100 testing groups.Two multivariable LR models revealed that age,number of driver gene mutations,epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)gene mutations,type of prior chemotherapy,prior tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI)therapy,and the source of the sample were powerful predictors.Moreover,Cat Boost(mean accuracy=0.960;mean AUC=0.939;mean F1 score=0.908)and the eight-feature SVM-RFE(mean accuracy=0.950;mean AUC=0.934;mean F1 score=0.903)showed the best performance among the algorithms.Meanwhile,application of the SMOTE improved the predictive capability of most models,except Cat Boost.Based on the SMOTE,the ensemble classifier of single models achieved the highest accuracy(mean=0.975),AUC(mean=0.949),and F1 score(mean=0.938).In conclusion,we established an optimal predictive model to screen lung cancer patients for non-obese diabetic(NOD)/Shi-scid,interleukin-2 receptor(IL-2R)γ^(null)(NOG)/PDX models and offer a general approach for building predictive models. | Yayi He Haoyue Guo Li Diao Yu Chen Junjie Zhu Hiran C.Fernando Diego Gonzalez Rivas Hui Qi Chunlei Dai Xuzhen Tang Jun Zhu Jiawei Dai Kan He Dan Chan Yang Yang | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,8: | 0 |
