1Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20

4Experimental investigation of shale imbibition capacity and the factors influencing loss of hydraulic fracturing fluids显示文摘Spontaneous imbibition of water-based fracturing fluids into the shale matrix is considered to be the main mechanism responsible for the high volume of water loss during the flowback period. Understanding the matrix imbibition capacity and rate helps to determine the fracturing fluid volume, optimize the flowback design, and to analyze the influences on the production of shale gas.Imbibition experiments were conducted on shale samples from the Sichuan Basin, and some tight sandstone samples from the Ordos Basin. Tight volcanic samples from the Songliao Basin were also investigated for comparison. The effects of porosity, clay minerals, surfactants, and KCl solutions on the matrix imbibition capacity and rate were systematically investigated. The results show that the imbibition characteristic of tight rocks can be characterized by the imbibition curve shape, the imbibition capacity, the imbibition rate, and the diffusion rate. The driving forces of water imbibition are the capillary pressure and the clay absorption force. For the tight rocks with low clay contents,the imbibition capacity and rate are positively correlated with the porosity. For tight rocks with high clay content,the type and content of clay minerals are the most important factors affecting the imbibition capacity. The imbibed water volume normalized by the porosity increases with an increasing total clay content. Smectite and illite/smectite tend to greatly enhance the water imbibition capacity.Furthermore, clay-rich tight rocks can imbibe a volume ofwater greater than their measured pore volume. The average ratio of the imbibed water volume to the pore volume is approximately 1.1 in the Niutitang shale, 1.9 in the Lujiaping shale, 2.8 in the Longmaxi shale, and 4.0 in the Yingcheng volcanic rock, and this ratio can be regarded as a parameter that indicates the influence of clay. In addition,surfactants can change the imbibition capacity due to alteration of the capillary pressure and wettability. 5Arabidopsis co-chaperonin CPN20 antagonizes Mg-chelatase H subunit to derepress ABA-responsive WRKY40 transcription repressor显示文摘Our previous study demonstrated that a chloroplast co-chaperonin 20(CPN20),one of the interaction partners of the magnesium-protoporphyrin IX chelatase H subunit(CHLH/ABAR),negatively regulates ABA signaling at the same node with ABAR but upstream of WRKY40 transcription repressor in Arabidopsis thaliana.In the present experiment,we showed that ABA directly inhibits the ABAR-CPN20 interaction,and also represses expression of CPN20,which depends on ABAR.CPN20 inhibits ABAR-WRKY40 interaction by competitively binding to ABAR.ABAR downregulates,but CPN20 upregulates,WRKY40 expression.The cpn20-1 mutation induces downregulation of WRKY40,and suppresses the upregulated level of WRKY40 due to the cch mutation in the ABAR gene.ABA-induced repressive effect of the WRKY40 gene is strengthened by downregulation of CPN20 but reduced by upregulation of CPN20.Together with our previously reported genetic data,we provide evidence that CPN20 functions through antagonizing the ABAR-WRKY40 coupled pathway,and ABA relieves this pathway of repression by inhibiting the ABAR-CPN20 interaction to activate ABAR-WRKY40 interaction.ZHANG XiaoFeng JIANG Tao YU YongTao WU Zhen JIANG ShangChuan LU Kai FENG XiuJing LIANG Shan LU YanFen WANG XiaoFang ZHANG DaPeng 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,1:11
6Retrospective evaluation of lymphatic and blood vessel invasion and Borrmann types in advanced proximal gastric cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND The Borrmann classification system is used to describe the macroscopic appearance of advanced gastric cancer,and Borrmann typeⅣdisease is independently associated with a poor prognosis.AIM To evaluate the prognostic significance of lymphatic and/or blood vessel invasion(LBVI)combined with the Borrmann type in advanced proximal gastric cancer(APGC).METHODS The clinicopathological and survival data of 440 patients with APGC who underwent curative surgery between 2005 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS In these 440 patients,LBVI+status was associated with Borrmann typeⅣ,low histological grade,large tumor size,and advanced pT and pN status.The 5-year survival rate of LBVI+patients was significantly lower than that of LBVI– patients,although LBVI was not an independent prognostic factor in the multivariate analysis.No significant difference in the prognosis of patients with Borrmann typeⅢ/LBVI+disease and patients with Borrmann typeⅣdisease was observed.Therefore,we proposed a revised Borrmann typeⅣ(r-BorⅣ)as Borrmann typeⅢplus LBVI+,and found that r-BorⅣwas associated with poor prognosis in patients with APGC,which outweighed the prognostic significance of pT status.CONCLUSION LBVI is related to the prognosis of APGC,but is not an independent prognostic factor.LBVI status can be used to differentiate Borrmann typesⅢandⅣ,and the same approach can be used to treat r-BorⅣand Borrmann typeⅣ.Shan Gao Guo-Hui Cao Peng Ding Yang-Yang Zhao Peng Deng Bin Hou Kai Li Xiao-Fang Liu 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,8:11

8Characteristics of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Women Aged 15-49 Years from 2005 to 2012 in China显示文摘Objective To describe the characteristics of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in women aged 15-49 years in China. Methods HIV/AIDS cases from 2005 to 2012 that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified on the Chinese HIV/AIDS case reporting system. Descriptive and spatial analyses were performed. Results A total of 103,559 female HIV/AIDS cases were included in our study. Based on the descriptive analysis, between 2005 and 2012, the proportion of heterosexually acquired HIV infection among women(15-49 years) increased rapidly from 35.8% to 87.4%. Approximately 60% of these cases were infected through non-marital heterosexual contact. Among older women(40-49 years), a slightly increasing trend was identified. The spatial analysis detected ‘hot spots' in the Xinjiang, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Chongqing provinces. The epidemic trends in these areas were predominately driven by heterosexual transmission. Conclusion Non-marital heterosexual contact is a very important factor in the HIV/AIDS epidemic in women aged 15-49 years, and the HIV infection rate in older women is increasing. Several epidemic hot spots were detected in northwestern and southwestern China. 9Cross electro-nape-acupuncture ameliorates cerebral hemorrhageinduced brain damage by inhibiting necroptosis显示文摘BACKGROUND Receptor interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1)-mediated cell death,including apoptosis and necroptosis,belongs to programmed cell death.It has been reported that RIPK1-mediated necroptosis exists in lesions of cerebral hemorrhage(CH).Electroacupuncture,a treatment derived from traditional Chinese medicine,could improve neurological impairment in patients with brain injury.AIM To investigate the protective role of cross electro-nape acupuncture(CENA)in CH,and clarify the potential mechanism.METHODS CH rat models were established,and CENA was applied to the experimental rats.Neurological functions and encephaledema were then measured.Necrotic cells in the brain of rats with CH were evaluated by propidium iodide staining.Necroptosis was assessed by immunofluorescence.Activation of the necroptosisrelated pathway was detected by western blot.Extraction of brain tissue,cerebrospinal fluid and serum samples was conducted to measure the expression and secretion of inflammatory cytokines by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS The necroptotic marker p-MLKL was detectable in the brains of rats with CH.Next,we found that CENA could ameliorate neurological functions in rat models of CH.Moreover,the upregulation of RIPK1-mediated necroptosis-related molecules in the brains of rats with CH were inhibited by CENA.Further investigation revealed that CENA partially blocked the interaction between RIPK1 and RIPK3.Finally,in vivo assays showed that CENA decreased the expression of the inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6 and interleukin-8 in CH rat models.CONCLUSION These findings revealed that CENA exerts a protective role in CH models by inhibiting RIPK1-mediated necroptosis.Guo-Feng Cai Zhong-Ren Sun Zhe Zhuang Hai-Chun Zhou Shan Gao Kai Liu Li-Li Shang Kun-Ping Jia Xiu-Zhen Wang Hui Zhao Guo-Liang Cai Wen-Li Song Sheng-Nan Xu 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,10:9
10Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 13Hydrogen sulfide attenuates gastric mucosal injury induced by restraint water-immersion stress via activation of KATPchannel and NF-κB dependent pathway显示文摘AIM To explore the effect of hydrogen sulfide(H2S)on restraint water-immersion stress(RWIS)-induced gastric lesions in rats and the influence of adenosine triphosphate(ATP)-sensitive potassium(KATP)channels and nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells(NF-κB)pathway on such an effect.METHODS Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group,a physiological saline(PS)group,a sodium hydrosulfide(Na HS)group,a glibenclamide(Gl)group,Gl plus Na HS group,a pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate(PDTC)group,and a PDTC plus Na HS group.Gastric mucosal injury was induced by RWIS for 3 h in rats,and gastric mucosal damage was analyzed after that.The PS,Na HS(100μmol/kg body weight),Gl(100μmol/kg body weight),Gl(100μmol/kg or 150μmol/kg body weight)plus Na HS(100μmol/kg body weight),PDTC(100μmol/kg body weight),and PDTC(100μmol/kg body weight)plus Na HS(100μmol/kg bodyweight)were respectively injected intravenously before RWIS.RESULTS RWIS induced serious gastric lesions in the rats in the PS pretreatment group.The pretreatment of Na HS(a H2S donor)significantly reduced the damage induced by RWIS.The gastric protective effect of the Na HS during RWIS was attenuated by PDTC,an NF-κB inhibitor,and also by glibenclamide,an ATP-sensitive potassium channel blocker,in a dose-dependent manner.CONCLUSION These results suggest that exogenous H2S plays a protective role against RWIS injury in rats,possibly through modulation of KATP channel opening and the NF-κB dependent pathway.Hong-Zhao Sun Shan Zheng Kai Lu Feng-Tian Hou Jie-Xue Bi Xue-Lian Liu Shan-Shan Wang 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,1:7

15Current developments in drug delivery with thermosensitive liposomes显示文摘Thermosensitive liposomes(TSLs) have been an important research area in the field of tumor targeted chemotherapy. Since the first TSLs appeared that using 1,2-dipalmitoyl-snglyce-ro-3-phosphocholine(DPPC) as the primary liposomal lipid, many studies have been done using this type of liposome from basic and practical aspects. While TSLs composed of DPPC enhance the cargo release near the phase transition temperature, it has been shown that many factors affect their temperature sensitivity. Thus numerous attempts have been undertaken to develop new TSLs for improving their thermal response performance. The main objective of this review is to introduce the development and recent update of innovative TSLs formulations, including combination of radiofrequency ablation(RFA), highintensity focused ultrasound(HIFU), magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and alternating magnetic field(AMF). 16Anatomical variation of infra-pyloric artery origination: A prospective multicenter observational study (IPA-Origin)显示文摘Objective: Infra-pyloric artery(IPA) is an important anatomical landmark in treatment of gastric cancer and is the key vessel for pylorus-preserving gastrectomy and subgroup of infra-pyloric lymph nodes. However, its anatomical variation is not thoroughly understood. Our study aimed to clarify the origination of the IPA.Methods: We did this prospective, multicenter, open-label, observational study at gastric surgery departments of34 hospitals in China. Gastric cancer patients aged 18 years or older and scheduled to undergo elective total or distal gastrectomy were assigned. During the surgery, IPA dissecting and exposing the origination point with photographs or video clips were required. The primary outcome was the origination of the IPA. Analysis of variance, χ~2 tests and Fisher's tests were used to analyze the differences between groups. The study is registered at Clinicaltrials.gov(No. NCT03071237).Results: Between May 8 and July 31, 2017, 429 patients were assigned for the study, and 419(97.7%) patients had the IPA dissected and recorded through photograph or video and were included in the primary outcome analysis. The median age was 62 years old, and 73.7% were male. Among the patients, 78.5% received laparoscopic surgery. Single IPA origination was identified in 398(95.0%) patients, including gastroduodenal artery(GDA) in154(36.8%) patients, anterior superior pancreaticoduodenal artery(ASPDA) in 130(31.0%) patients, and right gastroepiploic artery(RGEA) in 114(27.2%) patients. Fifteen(3.6%) patients were identified with multiple IPA and 6(1.4%) patients were identified as IPA absence. The differences in the distribution of surgical approach(P=0.003) and geographic area(P=0.030) were statistically significant. 17In Situ Synthesis of Fluorescent Mesoporous Silica–Carbon Dot Nanohybrids Featuring Folate Receptor-Overexpressing Cancer Cell Targeting and Drug Delivery显示文摘Multifunctional nanocarrier-based theranostics is supposed to overcome some key problems in cancer treatment.In this work,a novel method for the preparation of a fluorescent mesoporous silica–carbon dot nanohybrid was developed.Carbon dots(CDs),from folic acid as the raw material,were prepared in situ and anchored on the surface of amino-modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles(MSNs–NH2) via a microwave-assisted solvothermal reaction.The as-prepared nanohybrid(designated MSNs–CDs) not only exhibited strong and stable yellow emission but also preserved the unique features of MSNs(e.g.,mesoporous structure,large specific surface area,and good biocompatibility),demonstrating a potential capability for fluorescence imagingguided drug delivery.More interestingly,the MSNs–CDs nanohybrid was able to selectively target folate receptor-overexpressing cancer cells(e.g.,HeLa),indicating that folic acid still retained its function even after undergoing the solvothermal reaction.Benefited by these excellent properties,the fluorescent MSNs–CDs nanohybrid can be employed as a fluorescence-guided nanocarrier for the targeted deliveryof anticancer drugs(e.g.,doxorubicin),thereby enhancing chemotherapeutic efficacy and reducing side effects.Our studies may provide a facile strategy for the fabrication of multifunctional MSN-based theranostic platforms,which is beneficial in the diagnosis and therapy of cancers in future.Shuai Zhao Shan Sun Kai Jiang Yuhui Wang Yu Liu Song Wu Zhongjun Li Qinghai Shu Hengwei Lin 2019Nano-Micro Letters2019,11,2:5
18IL-17-triggered downregulation of miR-497 results in high HIF-1α expression and consequent IL-1β and IL-6 production by astrocytes in EAE mice显示文摘Interleukin 17(IL-17)is increasingly recognized as a key factor that contributes to the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis(MS)and its experimental mouse autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)model.However,the roles and regulatory mechanisms of IL-17-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine production in EAE mice remain largely unclear.In this study,the expression of IL-17,hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α),IL-1β,IL-6 and microRNA-497(miR-497),as well as their intrinsic associations,was investigated using EAE model mice and cultured astrocytes exposed to IL-17 in vitro.We observed markedly increased production of IL-17,HIF-1α,IL-1βand IL-6 in the brain tissues of EAE mice,while the expression and secretion of HIF-1α,IL-1βand IL-6 were also significantly increased when cultured primary astrocytes from mice were stimulated with IL-17.Meanwhile,the expression of miR-497 was downregulated both in vivo and in vitro.Subsequent in vitro experiments revealed that IL-17 induced the production of IL-1βand IL-6 in astrocytes through the upregulation of HIF-1αas a transcriptional factor,indicating that IL-17-mediated downregulation of miR-497 enhanced HIF-1αexpression.Furthermore,astrocytespecific knockdown of IL-17RA and HIF-1αor astrocyte-specific overexpression of miR-497 by infection with different lentiviral vectors containing an astrocyte-specific promotor markedly decreased IL-1βand IL-6 production in brain tissues and alleviated the pathological changes and score of EAE mice.Collectively,these findings indicate that decreased miR-497 expression is responsible for IL-17-triggered high HIF-1αexpression and consequent IL-1βand IL-6 production by astrocytes in EAE mice.Kai Shan Rongrong Pang Chenhui Zhao Xiaomei Liu Wenxing Gao Jing Zhang Dan Zhao Yingwei Wang Wen Qiu 2017Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,11:5
19Effect of direct current pulse stimulating acupoints of JiaJi (T10-L3) and Ciliao (BL 32) with Han's Acupoint Nerve Stimulator on labour pain in women: a randomized controlled clinical study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the clinical effect and safety of direct current(DC) pulse produced by Han's Acupoint Nerve Stimulator in reduction(HANS) of labor pain.METHODS: Totally 120 participants were enrolled in this clinical trial, and were randomly divided into4 groups including: HANS group, patient controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA) group, patient-controlled epidural analgesia(PCEA) group and control group. The HANS group was treated by stimulating the acupoints of Jia Ji(T10-L3) and Ciliao(BL 32)with DC pulse of 100 Hz and 15-30 m A produced by a portable battery-powered Han's Acupoint Nerve Stimulator for 30 min. The PCIA group was intravenously infused Ondansetron(8 mg) for 5 min,then tramadol injection(1.5 mg/kg) was slowly dripped by using Baxter APⅡ electronic pump with50 m L tramadol(0.70%) + ondansetron(8 mg),background infusion 2 m L/h, PCA dose of 2 m L,lockout interval of 10 min. In PCEA group, women received intrathecal injection ropivacaine(3 mg) in L2-3, and epidural catheter was connected to Baxter APⅡ electronic pump, with 100 m L Ropivacaine(0.1%) and Sufentanil(50 ug), background infusion5 m L, Patient controlled analgesia(PCA) dose of 5m L, lockout interval of 10 min. The control group was not received analgesia. The visual analogue scale(VAS), stage and manner of labor, Apgar score of newborn, neonatal weights, oxytocin dosage,postpartum hemorrhage and side effects were monitored in all groups.RESULTS: The vital signs were all stable in the four analgesic groups. After analgesia, there was statistical difference in VAS score between HANS group and control group, between PCEA group and the control group, between PCIA group and control group. The analgesic effect in the PCEA group was significantly better than that of other two groups.The second stage of labor in the PCEA group was longer than the other three groups, showing significant difference between them. The Apgar score of newborn 1min after birth in the PCIA group was slightly lower than that of the other two groups,showing significant difference between them. The neonatal weights between four groups were not significantly different. The rate of cesarean sectionin the control group was significantly higher than that of the labor analgesia group, there was statistically difference in four groups. The number of PCIA group that used oxytocin was lower than that of other three groups. There was no significant difference in postpartum hemorrhage between four groups. The side effects of the PCEA group were itching, uroschesis and neonatal asphyxia and PCIA group were nausea and vomiting and neonatal asphyxia.
