Soil contamination with antibiotics in a typical peri-urban area in eastern China: Seasonal variation, risk assessment, and microbial responses显示文摘The prevalence and persistence of antibiotics in soils has become an emerging environmental issue and an increasing threat to soil security and global public health. The problem is more severe in areas undergoing rapid urbanization; however, the ecological risks of antibiotics, seasonal variability, and associated soil microbial responses in peri-urban soils have not been well-explored. The seasonal soil sampling campaigns were conducted in a typical peri-urban watershed in eastern China to investigate distribution of antibiotics. The results demonstrated higher mean concentrations of most antibiotic compounds in winter than in summer in periurban soils. The seasonal variations of norfloxacin, enrofloxacin, and ciprofloxacin were more significant than those of other antibiotics, due to their higher migration ability and bioavailability. An ecological risk assessment demonstrated that chlortetracycline, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, and ofloxacin can pose high risks to soil microorganisms. Furthermore, the coexistence of multiple antibiotics obviously poses higher risks than individual compounds. A redundancy analysis demonstrated that tetracyclines mainly showed negative correlations with Firmicutes and Chloroflexi, and quinolones showed obviously negative correlations with Acidobacteria,Gemmatimonadetes, and Nitrospirae, suggesting potential inhibition from antibiotics on biological activities or biodegradation processes. However, the persistence of antibiotics in soil results in a significant decrease in bacterial diversity and a change in dominant species. Our results provide an overview of the seasonal variability of antibiotics and the associated effects on bacterial communities in peri-urban soils. The results can provide scientific guidance on decreasing soil contamination with antibiotics to enhance soil security in similar areas. | Fangkai Zhao Lei Yang Liding Chen Qian Xiang Shoujuan Li Long Sun Xinwei Yu Li Fang | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,5: | 19
Pathological changes in the lungs and lymphatic organs of 12 COVID-19 autopsy cases显示文摘Systematic autopsy and comprehensive pathological analyses of COVID-19 decedents should provide insights into the disease characteristics and facilitate the development of novel therapeutics. In this study,we report the autopsy findings from the lungs and lymphatic organs of 12 COVID-19 decedents—findings that evaluated histopathological changes;immune cell signature and inflammatory factor expression in the lungs, spleen and lymph nodes. Here we show that the major pulmonary alterations included diffuse alveolar damage, interstitial fibrosis and exudative inflammation featured with extensive serous and fibrin exudates, macrophage infiltration and abundant production of inflammatory factors(IL-6,IP-10,TNFo?and IL-I f).The spleen and hilar lymph nodes contained lesions with tissue structure disruption and immune cell dysregulation, including lymphopenia and macrophage accumulation. These findings provide pathological evidence that links injuries of the lungs and lymphatic organs with the fatal systematic respiratory and immune malfunction in critically ill COVID-19 patients. | Qian Liu Yu Shi Jun Cai Yaqi Duan Rongshuai Wang Hongyan Zhang Qiurong Ruan Jiansha Li Lei Zhao Yifang Ping Rong Chen Liang Ren Xiaochun Fei Heng Zhang Rui Tang Xi Wang Tao Luo Xindong Liu Xuequan Huang Zhenhua Liu Qilin Ao Yong Ren Jing Xiong Zhicheng He Haibo Wu Wenjuan Fu Pengnan Zhao Xinwei Chen Guoqiang Qu Yunyun Wang Xi Wang Jia Liu Dongfang Xiang Sanpeng Xu Xiaowei Zhou Qingrui Li Jinghong Ma Heng Li Jie Zhang Sizhe Huang Xiaohong Yao Yiwu Zhou Chaofu Wang Dingyu Zhang Guoping Wang Liang Liu Xiu-Wu Bian | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,12: | 6
Effects of uranium on hydrocarbon generation of hydrocarbon source rocks with type-Ⅲ kerogen显示文摘Organic-inorganic interaction exists universally and is important in the process of mineral resources formation. It is the essential reason why organic oil, gas, coal and inorganic uranium coexist, accumulate, and mineralize in the same sedimentary basins.Hydrocarbon-generating simulation experiment was conducted using low-mature hydrocarbon source rock containing kerogen type III with uranium(UO2CO3 solution)added to study the effects of uranium on the hydrocarbon generation of hydrocarbon source rocks.Experiment results show that uranium can enhance the yield of gas hydrocarbon, promote the total gas output, and increase the total hydrocarbon production(mass or volume).Uranium may lower the hydrocarbon generation threshold temperature and lead to the generation of liquid hydrocarbon in the relative low temperature of hydrocarbon source rock.Uranium can enhance the yield of saturated hydrocarbon, promote the low molecular weight hydrocarbons generating, and in turn increase the content of CH4 and the content of dry gas of the generated hydrocarbons.Uranium is one of the potential inorganic accelerating factors of the immature hydrocarbons. | MAO GuangZhou LIU ChiYang ZHANG DongDong QIU XinWei WANG JianQiang LIU BaoQuan LIU JingJiang QU ShaoDong DENG Yu WANG FeiFei ZHANG Can | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6: | 5

Joint timing and frequency synchronization in coherent optical OFDM systems显示文摘In this paper,we review our joint timing and frequency synchronization algorithms in coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CO-OFDM)systems.We first present a timing estimation method by designing the pattern of the training symbol, whose timing metric has a sharp and clear peak,to ensure accurate timing offset(TO)estimation performance. Then we provide both data-aided(DA)and blind(BL)approaches to estimate the carrier frequency offset(CFO).For the DA algorithm,we utilize the same training symbol structure as the timing estimation does, while for the BL algorithm,we utilize the zero-subcarrier power(ZSP)to achieve full-range CFO estimation.Note that our joint timing and frequency synchronization approaches require only one OFDM symbol, which ensure not only the data transmission efficiency, but also the TO and CFO estimation performance.A modified BL ZSP algorithm is proposed to further improve the CFO estimation performance by taking the power average over a series of OFDM symbols. The effectiveness of the TO estimation algorithm, and both the DA and BL CFO estimation algorithms are verified and demonstrated in both simulations and experiments. | Xinwei DU Pooi-Yuen KAM Changyuan YU | 2019 | Frontiers of Optoelectronics2019,12,1: | 3

Possible causes of the variation in fractal dimension of the perimeter during the tropical cyclone Dan motion显示文摘We calculated the fractal dimensions Db of the perimeter of tropical cyclone(TC)Dan based on the satellite GMS-5 infrared sensor images from 1800 UTC,1 October 1999 to 1200 UTC,9 October 1999.The fractal dimensions Db were used to characterize objectively the temporal change of TC complex structure. Our results show that the change of fractal dimension during TC Dan motion can be divided into three stages. The statistically significant difference does not exist either between Dm1 and DL or between Dm3 and DL,but it exists between Dm2 and DL,where Dmi denotes the mean value of Db in i-th stage(i=1,2 and3);DL denotes Lovejoy’s fractal dimension calculated based on satellite and radar data within the size range(1–1.2×106 km2),which is used as a'normal value'of the fractal dimension of the cumulus cloud perimeter for the global tropical region.TC Dan turns to the north from the west abruptly at the end of the second stage. The emergence of the second stage with high fractal dimensions may be viewed as a possible premonition for the track turning. Our results also show that there are two kinds of processes resulting in the translation from the first stage to the second stage. One is the interaction of TC circulation and an adjacent small scale convective cloud cluster, causing to the complexity increase of a local segment of the perimeter. The other includes the fragmentation of a strong convective area within the TC inner region, the self-organization of the small strong convective cloud clusters, the emergence, development, and merger of the small scale non-convective holes, and the formation of a gap of the perimeter, causing to the complexity increase of the whole TC perimeter. | LUO ZheXian WANG Ying MA GeLan YU Hui WANG XinWei SAO LiFang LI DongHong | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6: | 2
Low phosphorus promotes NSP1–NSP2 heterodimerization to enhance strigolactone biosynthesis and regulate shoot and root architecture in rice显示文摘Phosphorus is an essential macronutrient for plant development and metabolism, and plants have evolved ingenious mechanisms to overcome phosphate(Pi)starvation. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of shoot and root architecture by low phosphorus conditions and the coordinated utilization of Pi and nitrogen remain largely unclear. Here,we show that Nodulation Signaling Pathway 1(NSP1)and NSP2 regulate rice tiller number by promoting the biosynthesis of strigolactones(SLs),a class of phytohormones with fundamental effects on plant architecture and environmental responses. We found that NSP1 and NSP2 are induced by Oryza sativa PHOSPHATE STARVATION RESPONSE2(OsPHR2)in response to low-Pi stress and form a complex to directly bind the promoters of SL biosynthesis genes, thus markedly increasing SL biosynthesis in rice.Interestingly, the NSP1/2–SL signaling module represses the expression of CROWN ROOTLESS 1(CRL1),a newly identified early SL-responsive gene in roots,to restrain lateral root density under Pi deficiency. We also demonstrated that GR24^(4DO) treatment under normal conditions inhibits the expression of OsNRTs and OsAMTs to suppress nitrogen absorption but enhances the expression of OsPTs to promote Pi absorption, thus facilitating the balance between nitrogen and phosphorus uptake in rice.Importantly,we found that NSP1p:NSP1 and NSP2p:NSP2 transgenic plants show improved agronomic traits and grain yield under low-and medium-phosphorus conditions.Taken together, these results revealed a novel regulatory mechanism of SL biosynthesis and signaling in response to Pi starvation, providing genetic resources for improving plant architecture and nutrient-use efficiency in low-Pi environments. | Kun Yuan Hao Zhang Chaoji Yu Nan Luo Jijun Yan Shuang Zheng Qingliang Hu Dahan Zhang Liquan Kou Xiangbing Meng Yanhui Jing Mingjiang Chen Xinwei Ban Zongyun Yan Zefu Lu Jian Wu Yu Zhao Yan Liang Yonghong Wang Guosheng Xiong Jinfang Chu Ertao Wang Jiayang Li Bing Wang | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,11: | 2

Progresses on SAR Remote Sensing of Tropical Forests:Forest Biomass Retrieval and Analysis of Changing Weather Conditions显示文摘This paper is intended to report on the progresses made during the Dragon-4 project Three and Four-Dimensional Topographic Measurement and Validation(ID:32278),sub-project Multi-baseline SAR Processing for 3 D/4 D Reconstruction(ID:322782).The work here reported focuses on two important aspects of SAR remote sensing of tropical forests, namely the retrieval of forest biomass and the assessment of effects due to changing weather conditions.Recent studies have shown that by using SAR tomography the backscattered power at 30 m layer above the ground is linearly correlated to the forest Above Ground Biomass(AGB).However, the two parameters that determine this linear relationship might vary for different tropical forest sites. For purpose of solving this problem,we investigate the possibility of using Li DAR derived AGB to help training the two parameters.Experimental results obtained by processing data from the Tropi SAR campaign support the feasibility of the proposed concept. This analysis is complemented by an assessment of the impact of changing weather conditions on tomographic imaging, for which we simulate BIOMASS repeat pass tomography using ground-based Tropi SCAT data with a revisit time of 3 days and rainy days included. The resulting backscattered power variation at 30 m is within 1.5 d B.For this forest site, this error is translated into an AGB error of about 50~80 t/hm^(2),which is 20%or less of forest AGB. | Stefano TEBALDINI Xinwei YANG Yu BAI Mauro Mariotti D’ALESSANDRO Mingsheng LIAO Wen YANG | 2021 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2021,4,1: | 2
Nuciferine protects against high-fat diet-induced hepatic steatosis and insulin resistance via activating TFEB-mediated autophagy——lysosomal pathway显示文摘Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is characterized by hepatic steatosis and insulin resistance and there are currently no approved drugs for its treatment.Hyperactivation of mTOR complex1(mTORCl) and subsequent impairment of the transcription factor EB(TFEB)-mediated autophagy-lysosomal pathway(ALP) are implicated in the development of NAFLD.Accordingly, agents that augment hepatic TFEB transcriptional activity may have therapeutic potential against NAFLD.The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of nuciferine,a major active component from lotus leaf,on NAFLD and its underlying mechanism of action. Here we show that nuciferine activated ALP and alleviated steatosis, insulin resistance in the livers of NAFLD mice and palmitic acid-challenged hepatocytes in a TFEB-dependent manner.Mechanistic investigation revealed that nuciferine interacts with the Ragulator subunit hepatitis B X-interacting protein and impairs the interaction of the Ragulator complex with Rag GTPases, thereby suppressing lysosomal localization and activity of mTORC1,which activates TFEB-mediated ALP and further ameliorates hepatic steatosis and insulin resistance. Our present results indicate that nuciferine may be a potential agent for treating NAFLD and that regulation of the mTORCl-TFEB-ALP axis could represent a novel pharmacological strategy to combat NAFLD. | Xiliang Du Chiara Di Malta Zhiyuan Fang Taiyu Shen Xiaodi Niu Meng Chen Bo Jin Hao Yu Lin Lei Wenwen Gao Yuxiang Song Zhe Wang Chuang Xu Zhijun Cao Guowen Liu Xinwei Li | 2022 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,6: | 2
miR-495 andmiR-5688 are down-regulated in non-small cell lung cancer under hypoxia to maintain interleukin-11 expression显示文摘Background:Hypoxia is a hallmark of cancer and is associated with poor prognosis. However, the molecular mechanism by which hypoxia promotes tumor progression remains unclear.MicroRNAs dysregulation has been shown to play a critical role in the tumor and tumor microenvironment. Here,we investigated the roles ofmiR-495 and miR-5688 in human non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and their underlying mechanism. Methods:The expression levels of miR-495 and miR-5688 in human NSCLC tissue specimens were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).Deferoxamine(DFO)was used to determine whether the regulation of miR-495 and miR-5688 under hypoxia was dependent on hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha(HIF-1α).Furthermore,the functions of miR-495 and miR-5688 in tumor progression were evaluated using colony formation,3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2Htetrazolium(MTS),wound healing, transwell assays, and xenograft model. Two algorithms,PicTAR and Targetscan, were used to predict the target gene of these two miRNAs,and dual-luciferase reporter assay was conducted to confirm the target. The unpaired two-tailed t test,Pearson correlation analysis, and Fisher’s exact probability test were performed for statistical analyses. Results:Two miRNAs,miR-495 and miR-5688,were found to participate in NSCLC progression under hypoxia. They were down-regulated in NSCLC tissues compared with normal tissues. We determined that hypoxia led to the down-regulation of miR-495 and miR-5688 in NSCLC cells, which was independent of HIF-1αand cellular metabolic energy. In addition,miR-495 and miR-5688 suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro. The NSCLC xenograft model showed that miR-495 and miR-5688 inhibited tumor formation in vivo.Interestingly,we found that miR-495 and miR-5688 had the same target,interleukin-11(IL-11).Recombinant human IL-11 counteracted the effects of miR-495 and miR-5688 on NSCLC cells, suggesting that miR-495 and miR-5688 executed their tumor suppressive role by repressing IL-11 expression. Conclusion:We found that hypoxia down-regulated the expression levels of miR-495 and miR-5688 in NSCLCto enhance IL-11 expression and tumor progression, indicating that the miR-495/miR-5688/IL-11 axismay serve as a therapeutic target and potential biomarker for NSCLC. | Meng Zhao Jiao Chang Ran Liu Yahui Liu Jin Qi Yanhui Wang Xinwei Zhang Lu Qiao Yu Jin Haohua An Li Ren | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,9: | 2

The prognostic landscape of genes and infiltrating immune cells in cytokine induced killer cell treated-lung squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma显示文摘Objective:Patients with non–small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)respond differently to cytokine-induced killer cell(CIK)treatment. Therefore, potential prognostic markers to identify patients who would benefit from CIK treatment must be elucidated. The current research aimed at identifying predictive prognostic markers for efficient CIK treatment of patients with NSCLC.Methods:Patients histologically diagnosed with NSCLC were enrolled from the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital. We performed whole-exome sequencing(WES)on the tumor tissues and paired adjacent benign tissues collected from 50 patients with NSCLC,and RNA-seq on tumor tissues of 17 patients with NSCLC before CIK immunotherapy treatment.Multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression analysis was used to analyze the association between clinical parameters and prognostic relevance.WES and RNA-seq data between lung squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)and adenocarcinoma(Aden)were analyzed and compared. Results:The pathology subtype of lung cancer was the most significantly relevant clinical parameter associated with DFS,as analyzed by multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression(P=0.031).The patients with lung SCC showed better CIK treatment efficacy and extended DFS after CIK treatment.Relatively low expression of HLA class II genes and checkpoint molecules, and less immunosuppressive immune cell infiltration were identified in the patients with lung SCC.Conclusions:Coordinated suppression of the expression of HLA class II genes and checkpoint molecules,as well as less immune suppressive cell infiltration together contributed to the better CIK treatment efficacy in lung SCC than lung Aden. | Jian Wang Fan Yang Qian Sun Ziqing Zeng Min Liu Wenwen Yu Peng Zhang Jinpu Yu Lili Yang Xinwei Zhang Xiubao Ren Feng Wei | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,4: | 1
Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding. We identified several important aspects associated with the genetic and molecular bases of rice grain and yield traits that were regulated by auxin signaling pathways. We also suggested rice auxin response factor(OsARF) activators as candidate target genes for improving specific target traits by overexpression and/or editing subspecies-specific alleles and by searching and pyramiding the ‘best' gene allelic combinations at multiple regulatory genes in auxin signaling pathways in rice breeding programs. | Fuying Ma Fan Zhang Yu Zhu Dengyong Lan Peiwen Yan Ying Wang Zejun Hu Xinwei Zhang Jian Hu Fuan Niu Mingyu Liu Shicong He Jinhao Cui Xinyu Yuan Ying Yan Shujun Wu Liming Cao Hongwu Bian Jinshui Yang Zhikang Li Xiaojin Luo | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,7: | 1

A creatinine-based model for predicting recurrent bleeding after modified percutaneous transhepatic variceal embolization in patients with cirrhosis显示文摘Background:Patients who survive initial esophagogastric variceal bleeding(EVB)are at an increased risk of recurrent bleeding and death;however,a reliable predictive model is lacking. We aimed to develop a model for rebleeding prediction in patients with EVB after modified percutaneous transhepatic variceal embolization(PTVE)with cyanoacrylate. Methods:A total of 122 patients with EVB who underwent PTVE from January 2015 to November 2020 were enrolled.Multivariate logistic analyses were conducted to determine independent risk factors for nomogram construction. The discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility of the nomogram were compared with the Model for End-stage Liver Disease score(MELD)and the Child–Pugh model.Risk stratification was performed according to the nomogram. Results:Rebleeding within 3 months of PTVE occurred in 32 patients(26.2%).Independent rebleeding indicators included prior history of endoscopic therapy,Child–Pugh score, partial splenic embolization, and creatinine level. The nomogram incorporating these four predictors achieved excellent calibration and discriminatory abilities, with a concordance index of 0.85,which was confirmed to be 0.83 through bootstrapping validation. The nomogram demonstrated superior discrimination and clinical applicability than the MELD and Child–Pugh models. As shown in the Kaplan–Meier curves,high-risk patients had a high probability of rebleeding(P<0.001).Conclusions:The creatinine-based nomogram had a superior ability to predict rebleeding after PTVE in patients with EVB.Risk stratification may help identify high-risk patients and lead to the earlier implementation of aggressive treatments and formulation of intensive follow-up plans. | Kun Ji Xin Li Hanlong Zhu Si Zhao Pengchao Zhan Yang Shi Shuwen Ye Bingcan Xie Yuyuan Zhang Peng Yu Zhigang Ren Juan Ding Xinwei Han Zhen Li | 2022 | Journal of Interventional Medicine2022,5,2: | 1
Oxygen vacancy and Mn2+induced ferromagnetism in Mn-doped ZnO thin films显示文摘With the purpose of investigating the origin of ferromagnetism(FM), Mn-doped Zn O thin films had been fabricated by radio frequency(rf) magnetron sputtering and subsequent anneal process. The characterization of the Mn-doped Zn O thin films was conducted by X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and superconducting quantum interference device(SQUID). With increasing the anneal temperature from 300°C to 700°C for 3 min, the influence on magnetism of the Mndoped ZnO thin films is slight. While extending the anneal time from 3 to 50 min at 300°C, the influence on magnetism is obvious and the Mn-doped ZnO thin films with 30 min clearly demonstrate FM. Compared with the effect of oxygen vacancy and substitutional Mn2+on the ferromagnetic behavior, OVplays the main role in inducing FM of the Mn-doped ZnO thin films with good crystal structure. | GUAN SuJun NASU Naho ZHANG Yu TAMAMOTO Yuri YAMANOBE Maria ZHAO XinWei | 2019 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,10: | 1
Numerical and experimental study of bleed impact in multistage axial compressors显示文摘In this study, the influence of inter-stage bleeding on the compressor performance and inter-stage flow field of a multistage axial compressor is investigated by both experimental and numerical methods. The experiment is conducted on a four-stage low-speed axial compressor, and a specific computational model is built to simulate the experiment environment accurately. To illuminate the fluid mechanisms of bleeding effect in detail, both the experiment and the simulation are carried out twice,i.e.,in the first time, the mass flow rate upstream the bleed location is constant under different bleed rate conditions;while in the second time, the mass flow rate downstream the bleed location is constant under different bleed rate conditions. The results demonstrate that inter-stage bleeding has little influence on upstream compressor characteristics, and affects the upstream flow field only in the rear half of the stator. The bleed effect on the downstream flow field is embodied in the variation of an incoming flow profile,an increase as the compressor inlet flow coefficient decreases. Therefore, such an effect is only significant on compressor characteristics at small flow coefficient conditions. In multistage compressors, the variation of compressor characteristics and flow field caused by inter-stage bleeding is the comprehensive result of the bleeding and the variation of the upstream working condition. In addition, the comparison between numerical and experimental results shows that the flow moves towards top half of span through the downstream rotor passage in the numerical simulation, whereas the trend of flow field variation with different bleed rates at the outlet of the downstream rotor and stator is the same with that at the inlet of the downstream rotor in the experiment, which means that the numerical method has overestimated the radial mixing intensity of the flow. | Baojie LIU Xinwei ZHUANG Guangfeng AN Xianjun YU | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,2: | 1
