1Special Section:SARS-CoV-2 Preliminary evidence from a multicenter prospective observational study of the safety and efficacy of chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19显示文摘Effective therapies are urgently needed for the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.Chloroquine has been proved to have antiviral effect against coronavirus in vitro.In this study,we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of chloroquine with different doses in COVID-19.In this multicenter prospective observational study,we enrolled patients older than 18 years old with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection excluding critical cases from 12 hospitals in Guangdong and Hubei Provinces.Eligible patients received chloroquinephosphate s00 mg,orally,once(half dose)or twice(full dose)daily.Patients treated with non-chloroquine therapy were included as historical controls.The primary endpoint is the time to undetectable viral RNA.Secondary outcomes include the proportion of patients with undetectable viral RNA by day 10 and 14,hospitalization time,duration of fever,and adverse events.A total of 197 patients completed chloroquine treatment,and 176patients were included as historical controls.The median time to achieve an undetectable viral RNA was shorter in chloroquine than in non-chloroquine(absolute difference in medians-6.0 days;95%CI-6.0 to—4.0).The duration of fever is shorter in chloroquine(geometric mean ratio 0.6;95%CIO.5 to 0.8).No serious adverse events were observed in the chloroquine group.Patients treated with half dose experienced lower rate of adverse events than with full dose.Although randomized trials are needed for further evaluation,this study provides evidence for safety and efficacy of chloroquine in COVID-19 and suggests that chloroquine can be a cost-effective therapy for combating the COVID-19 pandemic.Mingxing Huang Man Li Fei Xiao Pengfei Pang Jiabi Liang Tiantian Tang Shaoxuan Liu Binghui Chen Jingxian Shu Yingying You Yang Li Meiwen Tang Jianhui Zhou Guanmin Jiang Jingfen Xiang Wenxin Hong Songmei He Zhaoqin Wang Jianhua Feng Changqing Lin Yinong Ye Zhilong Wu Yaocai Li Bei Zhong Ruilin Sun Zhongsi Hong Jing Liu Huili Chen Xiaohua Wang Zhonghe Li Duanqing Pei Lin Tian Jinyu Xia Shanping Jiang Nanshan Zhong Hong Shan 2020National Science Review2020,7,9:20
2Oxidative stress, nutritional antioxidants and beyond显示文摘Free radical-induced oxidative stress contributes to the development of metabolic syndromes(Mets), including overweight,hyperglycemia, insulin resistance and pro-inflammatory state. Most free radicals are generated from the mitochondrial electron transport chain;under physiological conditions, their levels are maintained by efficient antioxidant systems. A variety of transcription factors have been identified and characterized that control gene expression in response to oxidative stress status.Natural antioxidant compounds have been largely studied for their strong antioxidant capacities. 3Prevalence, risk factors, and survival associated with pulmonary hypertension and heart failure among patients with underlying coronary artery disease: a national prospective, multicenter registry study in China显示文摘Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the commonest cause of heart failure (HF), whereas pulmonary hypertension (PH) has not been established or reported in this patient population. Therefore, we assessed the prevalence, risk factors, and survival in CAD-associated HF (CAD-HF) complicated with PH.Methods: Symptomatic CAD-HF patients were continuously enrolled in this prospective, multicenter registry study. Echocardiography, coronary arteriography, left and right heart catheterization (RHC), and other baseline clinical data were recorded. Patients were followed up and their survival was recorded.Results: One hundred and eighty-two CAD-HF patients were enrolled, including 142 with HF with a preserved ejection fraction (heart failure with preserved ejection fraction [HFpEF];left ventricular ejection fraction [LVEF] ≥50%) and 40 with a reduced ejection fraction (heart failure with reduced ejection fraction [HFrEF];LVEF < 50%). PH was diagnosed with RHC in 77.5% of patients. Patients with PH showed worse hemodynamic parameters and higher mortality. HFrEF-PH patients had worse survival than HFpEF-PH patients. CAD-HF patients with an enlarged left ventricular end-diastolic diameter and reduced hemoglobin were at higher risk of PH. Nitrate treatment reduced the risk of PH. Elevated creatinine and mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP), diastolic pressure gradient (DPG) ≥7 mmHg, and previous myocardial infarction (MI) entailed a higher risk of mortality in CAD-HF patients with PH.Conclusions: PH is common in CAD-HF and worsens the hemodynamics and survival in these patients. Left ventricle enlargement and anemia increase the risk of PH in CAD-HF. Patients may benefit from nitrate medications. 4Analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind显示文摘Based on the analysis theory of random energy of train derailment, an analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind is suggested. Two methods are proposed -the time domain method and the frequency domain method of analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind. The curves of σ pw -v under various wind speeds are obtained through the computation. The original curve of σ p -v is expanded, which turns the analysis theory of random energy of train derailment into the all-weather theory. Train derailment condition has been established under wind action. The first and second criterions of train derailment have been proposed in light of wind action. The analysis of train derailment cases at home or abroad is made, in- cluding the first analysis of Xinjiang train derailment case encountered 13-level of gale, which explained the inevitability of train derailment. The analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind shows its validity and accuracy. The input energy σ pw of the transverse vibration of train-track(bridge)-wind system is linked to train speed. 5Multiplicity of solutions to geophysical inversion reflected by rupture slip distribution of the 2015 Nepal earthquake显示文摘The equivalence of geophysical fields,the finiteness of measurements and the measurement errors make the result of geophysical inversion non-unique.For example,the measurements and inversion method used,the priori rupture model determined and the slip distribution smoothing factor selected will have significant influences on the earthquake rupture slip distribution.Using different data and methods,different authors have given different rupture slip distribution models of the 2015 Mw7.9 Nepal earthquake,with the maximum slip ranging from 3.0 m to 6.8 m.In this paper,geometry parameters of the single rectangular fault model in elastic half-space were inferred constraining with the Global Positioning System(GPS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR) coseismic deformations and bounding the slip with approximate average value;and then,the single rectangular fault was divided into multiple sub-faults,and the final slip smoothing factor,the final slip distribution and the maximum slip were determined with the misfit-roughness tradeoff curve,the cross-validation sum of squares(CVSS) and the third-party observation data or indexes being comprehensively taken into account.The results show that,the rupture of the Nepal earthquake extended by over 100 km east by south.The maximum slip of the earthquake was about 6.5-6.7 m,and most of the slip is confined at depths of 8-20 km,consistent with the depth distribution of aftershocks.The method for reducing the multiplicity of solutions to rupture slip distribution in this paper was ever used in inversion of rupture slip distribution for the 2008 Wenchuan and 2013 Lushan earthquakes,and the third-party measurement-surface dislocation has very large effect on reducing the multiplicity of solutions to inversion of the Wenchuan earthquake.Other priori information or indicators,such as fault strike,dip,earthquake magnitude,seismic activity,Coulomb stress,and seismic period,can be used for beneficial validation of and comparison with inversion results.Kai Tan Caihong Zhang Bin Zhao Qi Wang Ruilin Du Rui Zhang Xuejun Qiao Yong Huang 2017Geodesy and Geodynamics2017,8,1:2

7A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. 8Comparison of the meat quality and fatty acid profile of muscles in finishing Xiangcun Black pigs fed varied dietary energy levels显示文摘To study the effects of dietary energy level on the meat quality of different muscles in finishing pigs,400Xiangcun Black pigs(BW=79.55±4.77 kg)were randomly assigned to 5 treatments with varied calculated digestive energy(DE)at 3,050,3,100,3,150,3,200 and 3,250 kcal/kg,respectively.Each treatment had 8replicates with 10 pigs per replicate.Meat quality,amino acid and fatty acid composition were tested in this study.No differences in average daily gain,average daily feed intake or feed-to-gain ratio(P>0.05)were observed among dietary treatments.Glycogen concentrations of longissimus dorsi(LD)muscle in DE3150was higher than those in other groups(P<0.05).The crude fat concentration of biceps femoris(BF)muscle in DE3250 tended to be higher than that in DE3150 and DE3100 groups(P<0.05).Pigs in DE3250 and DE3200 had higher fiber density and smaller cross-sectional area of BF muscle than those in DE3150(P<0.05).Pigs in DE3150 had the highest Cu concentration in LD muscle compared with those in DE3200,DE3250(P<0.05).The C16:1 proportion of LD muscle was lower(P<0.01)and C20:1 was higher(P<0.05)in DE3050 than that in the other dietary treatments.The C18:3n6 and C20:3n6 proportions of BF muscle in DE3150 were higher than those in DE 3050,DE3200 and DE3250(P<0.05).For LD muscle,m RNA expressions of type I and IIa MyHC in group DE3150 were higher than other treatments(P<0.01).The LD muscle in DE3150 expressed higher PPARd than in other groups(P<0.01).Pigs in DE3100 expressed higher FOX1 than in DE3200 and DE3250(P<0.05).Sterol-regulatory element binding proteins(SREBPa)mRNA expression decreased linearly when dietary energy level increased in BF muscle(P<0.01).In conclusion,a200 kcal/kg decrease in digestible energy for 4 consecutive weeks did not affect growth performance of Xiangcun Black pigs.Furthermore,LD and BF muscle respond differently to dietary energy level,and meat quality was improved by the medium energy level during the finishing phase.Can Yang Wenlong Wang Xiaowu Tang Ruilin Huang Fengna Li Wenxuan Su Yulong Yin Chaoyue Wen Jian Liu 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,4:1

11Surface etching induced ultrathin sandwich structure realizing enhanced photocatalytic activity显示文摘Photocatalytic conversion efficiency is limited by serious charge carrier recombination. Efficient carrier separation is usually achieved by elegantly-designed multi-component structures connected by directional electric field. Herein, we developed a twodimensional(2 D) sandwich structure, as a new photocatalytic system, to realize high-efficiency carrier separation. This strategy integrated multifunction into a single structure for the first time, which successfully introduces a stable built-in electric field,realizing high-effective carrier separation. Besides, the carrier concentration is dramatically increased due to dimensional confinement. Benefiting from above synergic advantages, 2 D sandwich photocatalyst achieves the highest nitrogen fixation rate(435 μmol g^(-1) h^(-1)) in inorganic solid photocatalysts under visible light irradiation. 15Dnmt3a is required for the tumor stemness of B16 melanoma cells显示文摘The relationship of carcinogenesis and DNA methyltransferases has attracted extensive attention in tumor research. We reported previously that inhibition of de novo DNA methyltransferase 3a (Dnmt3a) in murine B16 melanoma cells significantly suppressed tumor growth and metastasis in xenografted mouse model. Here, we further demonstrated that knockdown of Dnmt3a enhanced the proliferation in anchor-independent conditions of B16 cells, but severely disrupted its multipotent differentiation capacity in vitro. Furthermore, transforming growth factor β1, a key trigger in stem cell differentiation and tumor cell epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), mainly induced apoptosis, but not EMT in Dnmt3a-deficient B16 cells. These data suggested that Dnmt3a is required for maintaining the tumor stemness of B16 cells and it assists B16 cells to escape from death during cell differentiation. Thus it is hypothesized that not only extraordinary self-renewal ability, but also the capacity of multipotent differentiation is necessary for the melanoma tumorigenesis. 16Hypothermic intervention for 3 hours inhibits apoptosis in neonatal rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage显示文摘A neonatal rat model of hypoxic-ischemic brain damage was designed and implemented in this study. Rats were subjected to hypothermia at 31°C immediately following hypoxia-ischemia for either 3, 6 or 15 hours. TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling demonstrated that the number of apoptotic cells was reduced in the rat cerebral cortex, hippocampus and periventricular white matter following hypothermia. Immunohistochemistry revealed that Bcl-2 and p16 expression were decreased. Inhibition of apoptosis was greatest with the 3 hour hypothermic treatment, followed by hypothermia for 6 hours. In contrast, hypothermia for 15 hours led to a decrease in neuronal number in the cerebral cortex. 17Low Complexity SOVA for Turbo Codes显示文摘Recently, trimming Soft-output Viterbi algorithm(T-SOVA) has been proposed to reduce the complexity of SOVA for Turbo codes. In its fi rst stage, a dynamic algorithm, lazy Viterbi algorithm, is used to indicate the minimal metric differences which brings obstacle on hardware implementation. This paper proposes a Viterbi algorithm(VA) based T-SOVA to facilitate hardware implementation. In the first stage of our scheme, a modified VA with regular structure is used to fi nd the maximum likelihood(ML) path and calculate the metric differences. Further, local sorting is introduced to trim the metric differences, which reduces the complexity of trimming operation. 19Fractal Characteristics and Main Controlling Factors of High-Quality Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in the Southeastern Ordos Basin显示文摘Due to the complex conditions and strong heterogeneity of tight sandstone reservoirs,the reservoirs should be classified and the controlling factors of physical properties should be studied.Cast thin section observations,cathodoluminescence,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and high-pressure mercury injection(HPMI)were used to classify and optimize the reservoir.The Brooks-Corey model and stepwise regression were used to study the fractal dimension and main controlling factors of the physical properties of the high-quality reservoir.The results show that the reservoirs in the study area can be divided into four types,and the high-quality reservoir has the best physical properties and pore-throat characteristics.In the high-quality reservoir,the homogeneity of transitional pores was the best,followed by that of micropores,and the worst was mesopores.The porosity was controlled by depth and kaolinite.The model with standardized coefficients is y=12.454−0.778×(Depth)+0.395×(Kaolinite).The permeability was controlled by depth,illite/montmorillonite,and siliceous cement,and the model with standardized coefficients is y=1.689−0.683×(Depth)−0.395×(Illite/Montmorillonite)−0.337×(Siliceous Cement).The pore-throat evolutionary model shows that the early-middle diagenetic period was when the reservoir physical properties were at their best,and the kaolinite intercrystalline pores and residual intergranular pores were the most important.Ruilin Hao Wenhui Huang Jiu Bo Li Yuan 2024Journal of Earth Science2024,35,2:0
