2Si/Cu3_Si@C Composite Encapsulated in CNTs Network as High Performance Anode for Lithium Ion Batteries显示文摘Si/Cu3Si@C composites encapsulated in CNTs network(SCC-CNTs) were synthesized via the combination of ball-milling and CVD methods. SCC-CNTs consist of conductive Cu3Si, amorphous carbon layer, cross-linked CNTs, and the etched pores, which can play the synergistic effects on the improvement of electronic conductivity and Li^+ diffusion. The volume expansion of Si anode is also suppressed during the electrochemical process. The SCC-CNTs composites demonstrate a remarkably improved electrochemical performance compared with pure Si, which can deliver a discharge capacity of 2 171 mAh·g^-1 at 0.4 A·g^-1 with ICE of 85.2%, and retain 1197 mAh· g^-1 after 150 cycles. 9Association of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 4G/5G promoter polymorphism with recurrent cerebral infarction in China’s North Jiangsu Province显示文摘BACKGROUND: Many international studies have shown that plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) 4G/5G promoter polymorphism does not increase the risk for cerebral infarction. OBJECTIVE: Using PCR methodology and agarose electrophoresis to detect PAI-1 4G/5G promoter polymorphism in patients with recurrent cerebral infarction in the North Jiangsu Province of China, and to compare results with healthy subjects and patients with first-occurrence cerebral infarction in the same region. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Non-randomized, concurrent, control trial. A total of 122 cerebral infarction patients were admitted to Xuzhou Medical College Hospital's Department of Neurology and Xuzhou Central Hospital’s Department of Neurology between July 2003 and August 2006. PARTICIPANTS: The patients consisted of 63 males and 59 females, aged (62 ± 10) years. They were divided into first-occurrence (n = 58) and recurrence (n = 64) groups. In addition, 50 healthy subjects that underwent physical examination in the outpatient department, including 26 males and 24 females, aged (60 ±12) years, were selected as controls. METHODS AND MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: PAI-1 4G/5G promoter polymorphism was detected and analyzed using PCR methodology and agarose electrophoresis. RESULTS: Significant differences were determined in terms of genotypic frequency and allele frequency of PAI-1 4G/5G promoter polymorphism, in patients with first-occurrence or recurrent cerebral infarction, when compared with healthy subjects (P < 0.05). There was, however, no significant difference between the first-occurrence and recurrence groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: PAI-1 4G/5G promoter polymorphism is genetic risk factor for cerebral infarction in China. 12Neuronal differentiation effects of vascular endothelial factor on bone marrow stromal cells显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) undergo neuronal differentiation under certain in vitro conditions.However,very few inducers of BMSC differentiation have been used in clinical application.The effects of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on in vitro neuronal differentiation of BMSCs remain poorly understood.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of VEGF on neuronal differentiation of BMSCs in vitro,and to determine the best VEGF concentration for experimental induction.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:In vitro comparative study was performed at the Central Laboratory and Laboratory of Male Reproductive Medicine,Shenzhen Hospital of Peking University from October 2008 to August 2009.MATERIALS:Recombinant human VEGF165 was purchased from Peprotech Asia,Rehovot,Israel.Neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was purchased from Beijing Biosynthesis Biotechnology,China.METHODS:BMSCs were harvested from adult Sprague Dawley rats.The passaged cells were pre-induced with 10 ng/mL basic fibroblast growth factor for 24 hours,followed by differentiation induction with 0,5,10,and 20 ng/mL VEGF,respectively.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Morphological changes in BMSCs prior to and following VEGF induction.Expression of NSE following induction was determined by immunocytochemistry.RESULTS:Shrunken,round cells,with a strong refraction and thin bipolar or multipolar primary and secondary branches were observed 3 days after induction with 5,10,and 20 ng/mL VEGF.However,these changes were not observed in the control group.At 10 days after induction,the number of NSE-positive cells was greatest in the 10 ng/mL VEGF-treated group (P < 0.05).The number of NSE-positive cells was least in the control group at 3 and 10 days post-induction (P < 0.05).Moreover,the number of NSE-positive cells was greater at 10 days compared with at 3 days after induction (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Of the VEGF concentrations tested,10 ng/mL induced the greatest number of neuronal-like cells in vitro from BMSCs.Li Yi Qiaoyun Liu Jinling Han Jing Ye Fangting Zhang Guanghui Cui Zhuqing Zhou 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,9:1
13Role of Elevated Thrombospondin-1 in Kainic Acid-Induced Status Epilepticus显示文摘Previous studies have suggested that thrombospondin-1(TSP-1) regulates the transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-b1)/phosphorylated Smad2/3(p Smad2/3) pathway. Moreover, TSP-1 is closely associated with epilepsy. However, the role of the TSP-1-regulated TGFb1/p Smad2/3 pathway in seizures remains unclear. In this study, changes in this pathway were assessed following kainic acid(KA)-induced status epilepticus(SE) in rats.The results showed that increases in the TSP-1/TGF-b1/p Smad2/3 levels spatially and temporally matched the increases in glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)/chondroitin sulfate(CS56) levels following KA administration.Inhibition of TSP-1 expression by small interfering RNA or inhibition of TGF-b1 activation with a Leu-Ser-Lys-Leu peptide significantly reduced the severity of KA-induced acute seizures. These anti-seizure effects were accompanied by decreased GFAP/CS56 expression and Smad2/3 phosphorylation. Moreover, inhibiting Smad2/3 phosphorylation with ponatinib or SIS3 also significantly reduced seizure severity, alongside reducing GFAP/CS56 immunoreactivity. 18Effect of isopropyl myristate on the viscoelasticity and drug release of a drug-in-adhesive transdermal patch containing blonanserin显示文摘The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of isopropyl myristate(IPM), a penetration enhancer, on the viscoelasticity and drug release of a drug-in-adhesive transdermal patch containing blonanserin. The patches were prepared with DURO-TAK~ 87-2287 as a pressure-sensitive adhesive(PSA) containing 5%(w/w) of blonanserin and different concentrations of IPM. An in vitro release experiment was performed and the adhesive performance of the drug-in-adhesive patches with different concentrations of IPM was evaluated by a rolling ball tack test and a shear-adhesion test. The glass transition temperature(T_g) and rheological parameters of the drug-in-adhesive layers were determined to study the effect of IPM on the mechanical properties of the PSA. The results of the in vitro release experiment showed that the release rate of blonanserin increased with an increasing concentration of IPM. The rolling ball tack test and shear-adhesion test showed decreasing values with increasing IPM concentration. The results were interpreted on the basis of the IPM-induced plasticization of the PSA, as evidenced by a depression of the glass transition temperature and a decrease in the elastic modulus.
