1Preparation of activated carbon from cattail and its application for dyes removal显示文摘Activated carbon was prepared from cattail by H3PO4 activation. The effects influencing the surface area of the resulting activated carbon followed the sequence of activated temperature > activated time > impregnation ratio > impregnation time. The optimum condition was found at an impregnation ratio of 2.5, an impregnation time of 9 hr, an activated temperature of 500°C, and an activated time of 80 min. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area and average pore size of the activated carbon were 1279 m2/g and 5.585 nm, respectively. A heterogeneous structure in terms of both size and shape was highly developed and widely distributed on the carbon surface. Some groups containing oxygen and phosphorus were formed, and the carboxyl group was the major oxygen-containing functional group. An isotherm equilibrium study was carried out to investigate the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon. The data fit the Langmuir isotherm equation, with maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 192.30 mg/g for Neutral Red and 196.08 mg/g for Malachite Green. Dye-exhausted carbon could be regenerated effectively by thermal treatment. 2Sorption removal of cephalexin by HNO_3 and H_2O_2 oxidized activated carbons显示文摘Cephalexin's traces within pharmaceutical effluents have toxic impact toward ecological and human health.Low-cost activated carbon derived from Trapa natans husk was oxidized with hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid,and tested for their ability to remove cephalexin from aqueous solutions.Oxidization with H2O2 showed negative effect on the cephalexin sorption,whereas HNO3 oxidization improved the adsorption.The cephalexin adsorption isotherms on the native and HNO3 oxidized carbons correlated well with the Freundlich equation while their kinetics followed the pseudo-second order model.The removal of cephalexin by the native and HNO3 oxidized carbons was found to be most favored at low ionic strength and strong acidic conditions.Based on the thermal and FTIR analyses,the interaction mechanisms of the interaction between cephalexin and the carbons were proposed.Electrostatic attraction,hydrophobic interaction and chemical bonding with surface functional groups were demonstrated as primary mechanisms for cephalexin removal.The nitrogen functionalities on the carbon surface were considered to be an important factor affecting the adsorption process.LIU WeiFeng XIE HuiJun ZHANG Jian ZHANG ChengLu 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,9:7
3Sorption of norfloxacin from aqueous solutions by activated carbon developed from Trapa natans husk显示文摘The low-cost activated carbon was prepared from a renewable aquatic plant residue,Trapa natans husk,and tested for its ability to remove norfloxacin (NOR) from aqueous solutions. Physical and chemical properties of the Trapa natans husk activated carbon (TAC) were characterized. TAC has a large surface area of 1274 m2/g and mesoporous structure. Carboxylic and hydroxyl groups contributed to the sorption of NOR onto TAC but they were not the most important factors in the sorption process. The rates of adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics and the overall rate of NOR uptake was controlled by both external mass transfer and intro particle diffusion during the entire adsorption period. The equilibrium data fitted well with the Freundlich and Tempkin models and the sorption was found to be a favorable process. The adsorption of NOR by TAC was strongly dependent on the solution pH. 4Morphology,Chemistry and U-Pb Geochronology of Zircon Grains in Quartz Monzodiorite from the Sunzhuang Area,Fanshi County,Shanxi Province显示文摘The morphology, REE geochemistry and U-Pb geochronology of zircons from quartz monzodiorite in the Sunzhuang area, Fanshi County, Shanxi Province are presented in this study. The zircon crystals can be classified into four main types as: AB, L, S and P, and 24 subtypes such as AB4, AB5, L5, and S3. The maximum crystallization temperature of zircon was estimated as 850°C, with the minimum of 550°C. The peak temperatures of the zircon crystallization range from 650°C to 700°C. The abundances of Th and U in the zircon grains show large variation with the Th/U values > 0.4. The Th and U values also show a positive correlation in most zircons. The REE abundance of zircon in the quartz monzodiorite ranges from 280.4 ppm to 2143 ppm with an average of 856.4 ppm. The chondrite normalized zircon REE patterns show two types, one is characterized by HREE enrichment and LREE depletion with positive Ce-anomaly and negative Eu-anomaly whereas the other is HREE enriched and LREE depleted with negative Eu-anomaly but without positive Ce-anomaly, and relatively flat patterns. The LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology on the zircons yields a mean age of 133±0.87 Ma. Our data on zircon morphology, composition and U-Pb geochronology reveal that the parent magma of the quartz monzodiorite which was emplaced during late Yanshanian had a mixed crust-mantle source, with crustal components dominating. The magma is inferred to have been water rich and alkaline with initial high oxygen fugacity. 11Investigation of SiGe-on-Insulator Novel Structure显示文摘SiGe-on-Insulator (SGOI) is an ideal substrate material for realizing strained-silicon structures that are very competing and popular in present silicon technology. In this paper, two methods are proposed to fabricate SGOI novel structure. One is modified Separation by Implantation of Oxygen (SIMOX) starting from pseuodomorphic SiGe thin film without graded SiGe buffer layer. Results show that two-step annealing can improve the cystallinity quality of SiGe and block the Ge diffusion in high temperature annealing. SGOI structure with good quality has been obtained through two-step annealing. The second method is proposed to achieve SGOI with high content of Ge. High quality strained relax SiGe is grown on a compliant silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate by UHCVD firstly. During high temperature oxidation,Ge atoms diffuse into the top Si layer of SOI. 13Fatigue Life Prediction of Gray Cast Iron for Cylinder Head Based on Microstructure and Machine Learning显示文摘Conventional fatigue tests on complex components are difficult to sample,time-consuming and expensive.To avoid such problems,several popular machine learning(ML)algorithms were used and compared to predict fatigue life of gray cast iron(GCI)with the complex microstructures.The feature analysis shows that the fatigue life of GCI is mainly influenced by the external environment such as the stress amplitude,and the internal microstructure parameters such as the percentage of graphite,graphite length,stress concentration factor at the graphite tip,matrix microhardness and Brinell hardness.For simplicity,collected datasets with some of the above features were used to train ML models including back-propagation neural network(BPNN),random forest(RF)and eXtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost).The comparison results suggest that the three models could predict the fatigue lives of GCI,while the implemented RF algorithm is the best performing model.Moreover,the S–N curves fitted by the Basquin relation in the predicted data have a mean relative error of 15%compared to the measured data.The results have demonstrated the advantages of ML,which provides a generic way to predict the fatigue life of GCI for reducing time and cost.Xiaoyuan Teng Jianchao Pang Feng Liu Chenglu Zou Xin Bai Shouxin Li Zhefeng Zhang 2023Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,9:0
14Ecological assessment of lakeshore wetland rehabilitation on eastern route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project显示文摘To evaluate the ecological effects of lakeshore wetland rehabilitation on the eastern route of the Southto-NorthWater Transfer Project,species composition,coverage,height,and biomass of wetland communities at 22 sites of the study area on the shore of Nansi Lake in April and May 2007 were investigated.The wetlands under investigation were divided into platform fields,transition zones,and shallow water zones according to differences in elevations,water levels,and human activities.The species richness index,Shannon-Wiener index,Simpson index,and Pielou Evenness index were adopted to delineate and discuss the ecological effects of lakeshore wetland rehabilitation in 22 quadrates.Results showed that the species richness of the wetland areas after 2 years’rehabilitation amounted to 47 of 24 families,higher than 25 of 20 families in areas without rehabilitation.The biodiversity index and abundance index of rehabilitated areas were also higher than those of platform fields and fish ponds where there was no rehabilitation.In addition,the Shannon-Wiener index,Simpson index,and community evenness index of platform fields in rehabilitated wetland areas were 1.619,0.745,and 0.860,respectively,higher than those of the platform fields before rehabilitating.The results suggested that the constructed lakeshore wetland played an important role in protecting the diversity of species.Jian ZHANG Fei MENG Yifeng LU Yuming JING Huayong ZHANG Bo ZHANG Chenglu ZHANG 2008Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,3:0

16Investigation of silicon on insulator fabricated by two-step O^+ implantation显示文摘In this paper,we investigated the dose window of forming a continuous buried oxide(BOX) layer by single implantation at the implantation energy of 200 keV. Then,an improved two-step implantation process with second implantation dose of 3×1015 cm-2 was developed to fabricate high quality separation by implanted oxygen(SIMOX) silicon on insulator(SOI) wafers. Compared with traditional single implantation,the implantation dose is reduced by 18.2%. In addition,the thickness and uniformity of the BOX layers were evaluated by spectroscopic ellipsometry. Defect-free top Si as well as atomic-scale sharp top Si/buried oxide interfaces were observed by transmission electron microscopy,indicating a high crystal quality and a perfect structure of the SOI fabricated by two step implantation.
