1Exotic origin of the Chinese continental shelf: new insights into the tectonic evolution of the western Pacific and eastern China since the Mesozoic显示文摘The effect of paleo-Pacific subduction on the geological evolution of the western Pacific and continental China is likely complex. Nevertheless, our analysis of the distribution of Mesozoic granitoids in the eastern continental China in space and time has led us to an interesting conclusion: The basement of the continental shelf beneath East and South China Seas may actually be of exotic origin geologically unrelated to the continental lithosphere of eastern China. By accepting the notion that the Jurassic–Cretaceous granitoids in the region are genetically associated with western Pacific subduction and the concept that subduction may cease to continue only if the trench is being jammed, then the termination of the granitoidmagmatism throughout the vast region at *88 ± 2 Ma manifests the likelihood of ‘‘sudden'', or shortly beforehand(*100 Ma), trench jam of the Mesozoic western Pacific subduction. Trench jam happens if the incoming‘‘plate'' or portion of the plate contains a sizeable mass that is too buoyant to subduct. The best candidate for such a buoyant and unsubductable mass is either an oceanic plateau or a micro-continent. We hypothesize that the basement of the Chinese continental shelf represents such an exotic, buoyant and unsubductable mass, rather than seaward extension of the continental lithosphere of eastern China. The locus of the jammed trench(i.e., the suture) is predictably located on the shelf in the vicinity of, and parallel to, the arc-curved coastal line of the southeast continental China. It is not straightforward to locate the locus in the northern section of the East China Sea shelf because of the more recent(\20 Ma) tectonic re-organization associated with the opening of the Sea of Japan. We predict that the trench jam at *100 Ma led to the re-orientation of the Pacific plate motion in the course of NNW direction as inferred from the age-progressive Emperor Seamount Chain of Hawaiian hotspot origin(its oldest unsubdued Meiji and Detroit seamounts are *82 Ma),making the boundary between the Pacific plate and the newly accreted plate of eastern Asia a transform fault at the location east of the continental shelf of exotic origin. This explains the apparent *40 Myr magmatic gap from *88to *50 Ma prior to present-day western Pacific subduction initiation. We propose that basement penetration drilling on well-chosen sites is needed to test the hypothesis in order to reveal the true nature of the Chinese continental shelf basement. This testing becomes critical and cannot longer be neglected in order to genuinely understand the tectonic evolution of the western Pacific and its effect on the geology of eastern China since the Mesozoic, includingthe cratonic lithosphere thinning, related magmatism/mineralization, and the mechanism of the subsequent South China Sea opening, while also offering novel perspectives on aspects of the plate tectonics theory. We also suggest the importance of future plate tectonic reconstruction of the western Pacific to consider the nature and histories of the Chinese continental shelf of exotic origin as well as the probable transform plate boundary from *100 to*50 Ma. 2SHP2 inhibition triggers anti-tumor immunity and synergizes with PD-1 blockade显示文摘Tyrosine phosphatase SHP2 is a promising drug target in cancer immunotherapy due to its bidirectional role in both tumor growth promotion and T-cell inactivation. Its allosteric inhibitor SHP099 is known to inhibit cancer cell growth both in vitro and in vivo. However, whether SHP099-mediated SHP2 inhibition retards tumor growth in vivo via anti-tumor immunity remains elusive. To address this, a CT-26 colon cancer xenograft model was established in mice since this cell line is insensitive to SHP099.Consequently, SHP099 minimally affected CT-26 tumor growth in immuno-deficient nude mice, but significantly decreased the tumor burden in CT-26 tumor-bearing mice with intact immune system.SHP099 augmented anti-tumor immunity, as shown by the elevated proportion of CD8tIFN-γtT cells and the upregulation of cytotoxic T-cell related genes including Granzyme B andPerforin, which decreased the tumor load. In addition, tumor growth in mice with SHP2-deficient T-cells was markedly slowed down because of enhanced anti-tumor responses. Finally, the combination of SHP099 and antiPD-1 antibody showed a higher therapeutic efficacy than either monotherapy in controlling tumor growthin two colon cancer xenograft models, indicating that these agents complement each other. 3Simple and cost-effective methods for precise analysis of trace element abundances in geological materials with ICP-MS显示文摘Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) is the most commonly used technique to determine the abundances of trace elements in a wide range of geological materials. However, incomplete sample digestion, isobaric interferences and instrumental drift remain obvious problems that must be overcome in order to obtain precise and accurate results. For this reason, we have done many experiments and developed a set of simple, cost-effective and practical methods widely applicable for precise and rapid determination of trace element abundances in geological materials using ICP-MS. Commonly used high-pressure digestion technique is indeed effective in decomposing refractory phases, but this inevitably produces fluoride complexes that create new problems. We demonstrate that the fluoride complexes formed during high-pressure digestion can be readily re-dissolved using high-pressure vessel at 190 °C for only 2 h for 50 mg sample. In the case of isobaric interferences, although oxide(e.g., MO+/M+) and hydroxide(e.g., MOH+/M+) productivity is variable between runs, the(MO+/M+)/(Ce O+/Ce+)and(MOH+/M+)/(Ce O+/Ce+) ratios remain constant, making isobaric interference correction for all other elements of interest straightforward, for which we provide an easy-to-use off-line procedure. We also show that mass-time-intensity drift curve is smooth as recognized previously, for which the correction can be readily done by analyzing a quality-control(QC) solution and using off-line Excel VBA procedure without internal standards. With these methods, we can produce data in reasonable agreement with recommended values of international rock reference standards with a relative error of <8% and precision generally better than 5%. 4Human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell therapy in patients with COVID-19:a phase 1 clinical trial显示文摘No effective drug treatments are available for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Host-directed therapies targeting the underlying aberrant immune responses leading to pulmonary tissue damage,death,or long-term functional disability in survivors require clinical evaluation.We performed a parallel assigned controlled,non-randomized,phase 1 clinical trial to evaluate the safety of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells(UC-MSCs)infusions in the treatment of patients with moderate and severe COVID-19 pulmonary disease.The study enrolled 18 hospitalized patients with COVID-19(n=9 for each group).The treatment group received three cycles of intravenous infusion of UC-MSCs(3×107 cells per infusion)on days 0,3,and 6.Both groups received standard COVID-treatment regimens.Adverse events,duration of clinical symptoms,laboratory parameters,length of hospitalization,serial chest computed tomography(CT)images,the PaO2/FiO2 ratio,dynamics of cytokines,and IgG and IgM anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were analyzed.No serious UC-MSCs infusion-associated adverse events were observed.Two patients receiving UC-MSCs developed transient facial flushing and fever,and one patient developed transient hypoxia at 12 h post UC-MSCs transfusion.Mechanical ventilation was required in one patient in the treatment group compared with four in the control group.All patients recovered and were discharged.Our data show that intravenous UC-MSCs infusion in patients with moderate and severe COVID-19 is safe and well tolerated.Phase 2/3 randomized,controlled,double-blinded trials with long-term follow-up are needed to evaluate the therapeutic use of UC-MSCs to reduce deaths and improve long-term treatment outcomes in patients with serious COVID-19.Fanping Meng Ruonan Xu Siyu Wang Zhe Xu Chao Zhang Yuanyuan Li Tao Yang Lei Shi Junliang Fu Tianjun Jiang Lei Huang Peng Zhao Xin Yuan Xing Fan Ji-Yuan Zhang Jinwen Song Dawei Zhang Yanmei Jiao Limin Liu Chunbao Zhou Markus Maeurer Alimuddin Zumla Ming Shi Fu-Sheng Wang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:16
5Characterization and Evaluation of OsLCT1 and OsN ramp5 Mutants Generated Through CRISPR/Cas9-Mediated Mutagenesis for Breeding Low Cd Rice显示文摘To explore how rice(Oryza sativa L.) can be safely produced in Cd-polluted soil, OsLCT1 and OsNramp5 mutant lines were generated by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis. One of OsLCT1 mutant(lct1×1) and two of OsNramp5 mutants(nramp5×7 and nramp5×9) were evaluated for grain Cd accumulation and agronomic performances. In paddy field soil containing approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd, lct1×1 grains contained approximately 40%(0.17 mg/kg) of the Cd concentration of the wild type parental line, less than the China National Food Safety Standard(0.20 mg/kg). Both OsNramp5 mutants showed low grain Cd accumulation(< 0.06 mg/kg) in the paddy(approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd) or in pots in soil spiked with 2 mg/kg Cd. However, only nramp5×7 showed normal growth and yield, whereas the growth of nramp5×9 was severely impaired. 7Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 8The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 9Translation and psychometric evaluation of the Chinese version of the Heart Failure-Specific Health Literacy Scale显示文摘Objective:Health literacy is closely associated with self-care behaviors in heart-failure patient.A reliable,valid,and practical measuring tool would evaluated the level of health literacy in Chinese patients with heart failure,and provide evidence for individualized education.Aim of this study was to translate Heart Failure-Specific Health Literacy Scale(HF-Specific HL Scale)into Chinese and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version.Methods:The original HF-specific HL scale was translated into Chinese and modified for cultural adaption.Totally 164 HF inpatients were investigated with the Chinese version of HF-specific HL scale.To test the reliability and validity of the scale,item analysis,exploratory factor analysis(EFA),confirmatory factor analysis(CFA),and correlation analysis were conducted.Result:Cronbach's a value for the scale is 0.87;the correlation coefficients between each item and the total score ranged from 0.61 to 0.91.Three factors was extracted by EFA,which could explain 64.62%of the total variance.The result of CFA also showed that the scale demonstrated an acceptable model fit.The scale was significantly correlated with the Chinese version of the Heart Failure Knowledge Test(C-HFKT).Conclusion:The Chinese version of HF-specific HL scale is reliable and valid,and is suitable for assessment of HL in Chinese HF patients.Meng Yue Lijun Zhang Yuanyuan Lu Changde Jin 2016International Journal of Nursing Sciences2016,3,4:10

12Content analysis of systematic reviews on effectiveness ofTraditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate evidence for the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in systematic reviews.METHODS:Chinese(TCM Periodical Literature Database,Chinese Biological Medicine database,Chinese Medical Current Contents,China Hospital Knowledge Database journal fulltext database,Virtual Machining and Inspection System,and Wanfang) and English(Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews,PubMed and Embase) databases were searched.RESULTS:Three thousand,nine hundred and fifty-five articles were initially identified,606 of which met the inclusion criteria,including 251 in English(83 from the Cochrane Database) and 355 in Chinese.The number of articles published each year increased between 1989 and 2009.Cardiocerebrovascular disease was the most studied target disease.Intervention measures included TCM preparations(177 articles),acupuncture(133 articles) and combinations of TCM and Western Medicine(38 articles).Control measures included positive medical(177 articles),basic treatment(100 articles),placebo(219 articles),and blank and mutual(107 articles).All articles included at least one reference;the greatest number was 268.Six of 10 articles with high quality references demonstrated curative effectsagainst target diseases including upper respiratory tract infection,dementia and depression.Interventions that were not recommended were tripterygium for rheumatoid arthritis and TCM syndrome differentiation for pediatric nocturia.In 10.4% of the studies,the authors concluded that the intervention had a curative effect.The assessors agreed with the authors' conclusions in 88.32% of cases,but rejected 8.94%(54 articles).CONCLUSION:1) Training in systematic review methods,including topic selection,study design,methods and technology,should be improved.2) Upper respiratory tract infection,dementia and depression may become the predominant diseases treated by TCM,and the corresponding interventions could be developed into practical applications.3) Use of non-recommended interventions should be controlled,and there should be more research on side effects.Junwen Wang Meng Cui Hongguan Jiao Yuanyuan Tong Jun Xu Yingkai Zhao Mei Han Jianping Liu 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2:7
13The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components.The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. 14Delivery of triptolide with reduction-sensitive polymer nanoparticles for liver cancer therapy on patient-derived xenografts models显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has become the fourth predominant cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide,and HCC is still one of the worst prognoses for survival as it is poorly responsive to both chemotherapy and surgical treatment due to drug resista nce and great toxic effects.Triptolide(TP),a key ingredient from the traditional Chinese medical herb,has been utilized to treat inflammation and antitumor for centuries.However,investigations of this potent agent have been met with only limited success due to the severe systemic toxicities in patients and low water solubility as well as its high toxicity over the past two decades.Herein,we reported the development of a reduction-responsive drug delive ry system loaded with TP fo r glutathione(GSH)-trigge red drug release for cancer therapy.With the GSH-sensitive TP loaded nanoparticles,the remarkable increases in tumor accumulation and amelioration of drug toxicity in animals are demonstrated,which is likely due to sustained stepwise release of active TP within cancer cells.Moreover,in a patient-derived tumor xenograft model of liver cancer,administration of tritolide nanoparticles enhances the antitumor efficacy relative to administration of free TP.These findings indicate that GSH-sensitive release of TP may be a promising strategy for cancer treatment.Mengxue He Ling Yu Yuanyuan Yang Binhua Zou Wen Ma Meng Yu Jiandong Lu Guoliang Xiong Zhiqiang Yu Aimin Li 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,12:5

16Targeting a novel inducible GPX4 alternative isoform to alleviate ferroptosis and treat metabolic-associated fatty liver disease显示文摘Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD),which is previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),represents a major health concern worldwide with limited therapy.Here,we provide evidence that ferroptosis,a novel form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-driven lipid peroxidation,was comprehensively activated in liver tissues from MAFLD patients.The canonical-GPX4(cGPX4),which is the most important negative controller of ferroptosis,is downregulated at protein but not mRNA level.Interestingly,a non-canonical GPX4 transcript-variant is induced(inducible-GPX4,iGPX4)in MAFLD condition.The high fat-fructose/sucrose diet(HFFD)and methionine/choline-deficient diet(MCD)-induced MAFLD pathologies,including hepatocellular ballooning,steatohepatitis andfibrosis,were attenuated and aggravated,respectively,in cGPX4-and iGPX4-knockin mice.cGPX4 and iGPX4 isoforms also displayed opposing effects on oxidative stress and ferroptosis in hepatocytes.Knockdown of iGPX4 by siRNA alleviated lipid stress,ferroptosis and cell injury.Mechanistically,the triggered iGPX4 interacts with cGPX4 to facilitate the transformation of cGPX4 from enzymatic-active monomer to enzymatic-inactive oligomers upon lipid stress,and thus promotes ferroptosis.Co-immunoprecipitation and nano LC–MS/MS analyses confirmed the interaction between iGPX4 and cGPX4.Our results reveal a detrimental role of non-canonical GPX4 isoform in ferroptosis,and indicate selectively targeting iGPX4 may be a promising therapeutic strategy for MAFLD.Jie Tong Dongjie Li Hongbo Meng Diyang Sun Xiuting Lan Min Ni Jiawei Ma Feiyan Zeng Sijia Sun Jiangtao Fu Guoqiang Li Qingxin Ji Guoyan Zhang Qirui Shen Yuanyuan Wang Jiahui Zhu Yi Zhao Xujie Wang Yi Liu Shenxi Ouyang Chunquan Sheng Fuming Shen Pei Wang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,9:3
17Modified halloysite nanotubes reduce the toxic effects of zearalenone in gestating sows on growth and muscle development of their offsprings显示文摘Background: Zearalenone(ZEN) is an estrogenic mycotoxin that is primarily produced by Fusarium fungi and has been proven to affect the reproductive capacity of many species to varying degrees. The present experiment was designed to study the maternal persistent effects of zearalenone toxicity in gestating sows on growth and muscle development of their offsprings, and the alleviation of zearalenone toxicity by modified halloysite nanotubes(MHNTs).Methods: Eighteen sows were fed with one of three dietary treatments that included the following:(1) a control diet,(2) a contaminated grain diet(with 50 % moldy corn, 2.77 mg/kg ZEN), and(3) a contaminated grain diet(with 50 %moldy corn, 2.76 mg/kg ZEN) + 1 % MHNTs. Each sow was exclusively fed its experimental diets from 35 to 70 d of gestation at a total of 2 kg daily. Muscle samples were collected from six piglets per treatment at birth, weaning and finishing.Results: The results showed that feeding the sows with the ZEN-contaminated diets from 35 to 70 d of gestation decreased the ADG, ADFI and G:F of their offsprings(P < 0.05). The muscle fiber numbers in the newborn, weaning and growing-finishing pigs and the muscle fiber diameters at birth and weaning were also decreased by maternal ZEN exposure(P < 0.05). The expressions of IGF-I, IGF-II, Myf-5 and Mstn at birth and IGF-II, Pax7, Myf-5 and Myo D1 at weaning were altered by feeding gestating sows with ZEN-contaminated diets(P < 0.05). The MHNTs reduced most of the ZEN-induced toxic effects: the ADG and ADFI on growth performance, the muscle fiber numbers at weaning and finishing and the muscle fiber diameters at weaning(P < 0.05). 19Single-Image Dehazing Based on Two-Stream Convolutional Neural Network显示文摘The haze weather environment leads to the deterioration of the visual effect of the image,and it is difficult to carry out the work of the advanced vision task.Therefore,dehazing the haze image is an important step before the execution of the advanced vision task.Traditional dehazing algorithms achieve image dehazing by improving image brightness and contrast or constructing artificial priors such as color attenuation priors and dark channel priors.However,the effect is unstable when dealing with complex scenes.In the method based on convolutional neural network,the image dehazing network of the encoding and decoding structure does not consider the difference before and after the dehazing image,and the image spatial information is lost in the encoding stage.In order to overcome these problems,this paper proposes a novel end-to-end two-stream convolutional neural network for single-image dehazing.The network model is composed of a spatial information feature stream and a highlevel semantic feature stream.The spatial information feature stream retains the detailed information of the dehazing image,and the high-level semantic feature stream extracts the multi-scale structural features of the dehazing image.A spatial information auxiliary module is designed and placed between the feature streams.This module uses the attention mechanism to construct a unified expression of different types of information and realizes the gradual restoration of the clear image with the semantic information auxiliary spatial information in the dehazing network.A parallel residual twicing module is proposed,which performs dehazing on the difference information of features at different stages to improve the model’s ability to discriminate haze images.The peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and structural similarity are used to quantitatively evaluate the similarity between the dehazing results of each algorithm and the original image.The structure similarity and PSNR of the method in this paper reached 0.852 and 17.557dB on the HazeRD dataset,which were higher than existing comparison algorithms.On the SOTS dataset,the indicators are 0.955 and 27.348dB,which are sub-optimal results.In experiments with real haze images,this method can also achieve excellent visual restoration effects.The experimental results show that the model proposed in this paper can restore desired visual effects without fog images,and it also has good generalization performance in real haze scenes.Meng Jun Li Yuanyuan Liang HuaHua Ma You 2022Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Technology2022,2,3:2
