| 1 | Recent advances in gel polymer electrolyte for high-performance lithium batteries显示文摘Lithium batteries (LBs) have become increasingly important energy storage systems in our daily life. However, their practical applications are still severely plagued by the safety issues from liquid electrolyte, especially when the batteries are exposed to mechanical, thermal, or electrical abuse conditions. Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) are being considered as an effective solution to replace currently available organic liquid electrolyte for building safer LBs. This review provides recent advancements in GPEs applied for high-performance LBs. On the one hand, from the environmental and economic point of view, the skeletons of GPEs changed from traditional polymer to renewable and degradable polymer. On the other hand, in addition to being as a component with good electrochemical and physical characterizations, the GPEs also need to provide some functions for addressing the concerns of lithium (Li) dendrites, unstable cathode electrolyte interface, dissolution and migration of transition metal ions,'shuttle effect' of polysulfides, and so on. | 5 | Mortality outcomes of low-dose computed tomography screening for lung cancer in urban China:a decision analysis and implications for practice显示文摘Background: Mortality outcomes in trials of low-dose computed tomography(CT) screening for lung cancer are inconsistent. This study aimed to evaluate whether CT screening in urban areas of China could reduce lung cancer mortality and to investigate the factors that associate with the screening effect.Methods: A decision tree model with three scenarios(low-dose CT screening, chest X-ray screening, and no screening) was developed to compare screening results in a simulated Chinese urban cohort(100,000 smokers aged45-80 years). Data of participant characteristics were obtained from national registries and epidemiological surveys for estimating lung cancer prevalence. The selection of other tree variables such as sensitivities and specificities of low-dose CT and chest X-ray screening were based on literature research. Differences in lung cancer mortality(primary outcome), false diagnoses, and deaths due to false diagnosis were calculated. Sensitivity analyses were performed to identify the factors that associate with the screening results and to ascertain worst and optimal screening effects considering possible ranges of the variables.Results: Among the 100,000 subjects, there were 448,541, and 591 lung cancer deaths in the low-dose CT, chest X-ray, and no screening scenarios, respectively(17.2% reduction in low-dose CT screening over chest X-ray screening and 24.2% over no screening). The costs of the two screening scenarios were 9387 and 2497 false diagnoses and 7and 2 deaths due to false diagnosis among the 100,000 persons, respectively. The factors that most influenced death reduction with low-dose CT screening over no screening were lung cancer prevalence in the screened cohort, lowdose CT sensitivity, and proportion of early-stage cancers among low-dose CT detected lung cancers. | 6 | Inositol Pyrophosphate lnsP8 Acts as an Intracellular Phosphate Signal in Arabidopsis显示文摘The maintenance of cellular phosphate(Pi)homeostasis is of great importance in living organisms.The SPX domain-containing protein 1(SPX1)proteins from both Arabidopsis and rice have been proposed to act as sensors of Pi status.The molecular signal indicating the cellular Pi status and regulating Pi homeostasis in plants,however,remains to be identified,as Pi itself does not bind to the SPX domain.Here,we report the identification of the inositol pyrophosphate lnsP8 as a signaling molecule that regulates Pi homeostasis in Arabidopsis.Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis profiling of InsPs revealed that lnsP8 level positively correlates with cellular Pi concentration.We demonstrated that the homologs of diphosphoinositol pentaki-sphosphate kinase(PPIP5K),VIH1 and VIH2,function redundantly to synthesize lnsP8,and that the vih1 vih2 double mutant overaccumulates Pi.SPX1 directly interacts with PHR1,the central regulator of Pi starvation responses,to inhibit its function under Pi-replete conditions.However,this interaction is compromised in the vih1 vih2 double mutant,resulting in the constitutive induction of Pi starvation-induced genes,indicating that plant cells cannot sense cellular Pi status without lnsP8.Furthermore,we showed that lnsP8 could directly bind to the SPX domain of SPX1 and is essential for the interaction between SPX1 and PHR1.Collectively,our study suggests that lnsP8 is the intracellular Pi signaling molecule serving as the ligand of SPX1 for controlling Pi homeostasis in plants. | Jinsong Dong Guojie Ma Liqian Sui Mengwei Wei Viswanathan Satheesh Ruyue Zhang Shenghong Ge Jinkai Li Tong-En Zhang Christopher Wittwer Henning JJessen Huiming Zhang Guo-Yong An Dai-Yin Chao Dong Liu Mingguang Lei | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,11: | 8 |

| 8 | Mitomycin C induces apoptosis in human epidural scar fibroblasts after surgical decompression for spinal cord injury显示文摘Numerous studies have shown that topical application of mitomycin C after surgical decompression effectively reduces scar adhesion. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the effect of mitomycin C on the proliferation and apoptosis of human epidural scar fibroblasts. Human epidural scar fibroblasts were treated with various concentrations of mitomycin C(1, 5, 10, 20, 40 μg/m L) for 12, 24 and 48 hours. Mitomycin C suppressed the growth of these cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner. Mitomycin C upregulated the expression levels of Fas, DR4, DR5, cleaved caspase-8/9, Bax, Bim and cleaved caspase-3 proteins, and it downregulated Bcl-2 and Bcl-x L expression. In addition, inhibitors of caspase-8 and caspase-9(Z-IETD-FMK and Z-LEHD-FMK, respectively) did not fully inhibit mitomycin C-induced apoptosis. Furthermore, mitomycin C induced endoplasmic reticulum stress by increasing the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78, CAAT/enhancer-binding protein homologous protein(CHOP) and caspase-4 in a dose-dependent manner. Salubrinal significantly inhibited the mitomycin C-induced cell viability loss and apoptosis, and these effects were accompanied by a reduction in CHOP expression. | 9 | Electroacupuncture at the Wangu (GB 12) acupoint suppresses expression of inflammatory factors in the hippocampus and frontal lobe of rats with post-stroke depression显示文摘Electroacupuncture was performed at the Wangu (GB 12) acupoint, whose position is similar to the cerebellar fastigial nucleus in rats with post-stroke depression. Results showed that the expression of nuclear factor-κB and the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β decreased. Simultaneously, the extent of edema in the hippocampus and frontal lobe decreased, and the morphology of the nerve cells recovered to near normal. In addition, fluoxetine treatment displayed a similar effect on post-stroke depression as electroacupuncture at GB 12 acupoint. | 11 | Interleukin-34 promotes the proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition of gastric cancer cells显示文摘BACKGROUND Interleukin(IL)-34 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in tumor development.The role of IL-34 in the proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of gastric cancer(GC)remains to be investigated.AIM To investigate whether and how IL-34 affects the proliferation of GC cells and EMT.METHODS Using immunohistochemical staining,the expression of IL-34 protein was detected in 60 paired GC and normal paracancerous tissues and the relationship between IL-34 and clinicopathological factors was analyzed.The expression of IL-34 mRNA and protein in normal gastric epithelial cell lines and GC was detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)and western blotting,respectively.Stable IL-34 knockdown and overexpression in AGS cell lines were established by lentiviral infection and validated by qRT-PCR and western blotting.The cholecystokinin-8 assay,clone formation assay,cell scratch assay,and transwell system were used to detect GC cell proliferation,clone formation,migration,and invasion capacity,respectively.The effects of IL-34 on the growth of GC transplant tumors were assessed using a subcutaneous transplant tumor assay in nude mice.The effects of IL-34 on the expression level of EMT-associated proteins in AGS cells were examined by western blotting.RESULTS Expression of IL-34 protein and mRNA was higher in GC cell lines than in GES-1 cells.Compared to matched normal paraneoplastic tissues,the expression of IL-34 protein was higher in 60 GC tissues,which was correlated with tumor size,T-stage,N-stage,tumor,node and metastasis stage,and degree of differentiation.Knockdown of IL-34 expression inhibited the proliferation,clone formation,migration,and invasion of AGS cells,while overexpression of IL-34 promoted cell proliferation,clone formation,migration,and invasion.Furthermore,the reduction of IL-34 promoted the expression of E-cadherin in AGS cells but inhibited the expression of vimentin and N-cadherin.Overexpression of IL-34 inhibited E-cadherin expression but promoted expression of vimentin and N-cadherin in AGS cells.Overexpression of IL-34 promoted the growth of subcutaneous transplanted tumors in nude mice.CONCLUSION IL-34 expression is increased in GC tissues and cell lines compared to normal gastric tissues or cell lines.In GC cells,IL-34 promoted proliferation,clone formation,migration,and invasion by regulating EMT-related protein expression cells.Interference with IL-34 may represent a novel strategy for diagnosis and targeted therapy of GC. | Chuan-Hong Li Zhang-Ming Chen Pei-Feng Chen Lei Meng Wan-Nian Sui Song-Cheng Ying A-Man Xu Wen-Xiu Han | 2022 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2022,14,10: | 4 |

| 14 | N-P fertilization did not reduce AMF abundance or diversity but alter AMF composition in an alpine grassland infested by a root hemiparasitic plant显示文摘Fertilization has been shown to have suppressive effects on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF) and root hemiparasites separately in numerous investigations, but its effects on AMF in the presence of root hemiparasites remain untested. In view of the contrasting nutritional effects of AMF and root hemiparasites on host plants, we tested the hypothesis that fertilization may not show strong suppressive effects on AMF when a plant community was infested by abundant hemiparasitic plants. Plants and soil samples were collected from experimental field plots in Bayanbulak Grassland, where N and P fertilizers had been applied for three continuous years for control against a spreading root hemiparasite, Pedicularis kansuensis. Shoot and root biomass of each plant functional group were determined. Root AMF colonization levels, soil spore abundance, and extraradical hyphae length density were measured for three soil depths(0 e10 cm, 10 e20 cm, 20 e30 cm). Partial 18 S r RNA gene sequencing was used to detect AMF diversity and community composition. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between relative abundance of different AMF genera and environmental factors using Spearman's correlation method. In contrast to suppressive effects reported by many previous studies, fertilization showed no significant effects on AMF root colonization or AMF species diversity in the soil. Instead, a marked increase in soil spore abundance and extraradical hyphae length density were observed. However, fertilization altered relative abundance and AMF composition in the soil. | 15 | A novel entry point for pedicle screw placement in the thoracic spine显示文摘This study was aimed to introduce a novel entry point for pedicle screw fixation in the thoracic spine and compare it with the traditional entry point. A novel entry point was found with the aim of improving accuracy, safety and stability of pedicle screw technique based on anatomical structures of the spine. A total of 76 pieces of normal thoracic CT images at the transverse plane and the thoracic pedicle anatomy of 6 cadaveric specimens were recruited.Transverse pedicle angle(TPA), screw length, screw placement accuracy rate and axial pullout strength of the two different entry point groups were compared. There were significant differences in the TPA, screw length, and the screw placement accuracy rate between the two groups(P<0.05). The maximum axial pullout strength of the novel entry point group was slightly larger than that of the traditional group. However, the difference was not significant(P > 0.05). | 16 | Transarterial chemoembolization versus percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy for recurrent unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma:Development of a prognostic nomogram显示文摘Background:Transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)and percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy(PMCT)are commonly used to treat intrahepatic recurrent liver cancers.However,there is no informa-tion regarding their effectiveness in patients with recurrent intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)after resection.Methods:A total of 275 patients with localized recurrent ICC who received either TACE(n=183)or PMCT(n=92)were studied.A propensity score matching analysis was performed to compare prognostic impact of TACE and PMCT.Prognostic factors for TACE and PMCT were identified respectively.Predictive nomograms for each TACE and PMCT were developed using the Cox independent prognostic factors and were validated in independent patient groups by receiver operating characteristic curves and area under curve values.Results:Both TACE and PMCT provided curativeness in partial patients(5-year overall survival:21.4%and 6.1%,respectively),but TACE provided better survival benefit in both overall patients(hazard ratio[HR]=0.71;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.50–0.97;P=0.034)and propensity score matching analysis(HR=0.69;95%CI:0.47–0.98;P=0.041).Independent prognostic factors for TACE were tumor size>5 cm,poor differentiation,and major resection,whereas poor differentiation,hepatitis B virus infection,cholelithiasis,and lymph node metastasis were identified for PMCT.Both predictive nomograms for TACE and PMCT were validated to be effective with area under curve values of 0.77 and 0.70,respectively.Conclusions:TACE provided better survival benefits compared to PMCT.However,there was a disparity in prognostic factors,suggesting evaluation of the two nomograms may be supportive in modality selection.Further prospective validation studies are required for the results to be applied in clinical medicine. | Yang Ge Seogsong Jeong Gui-Juan Luo Yi-Bin Ren Bao-Hua Zhang Yong-Jie Zhang Feng Shen Qing-Bao Cheng Cheng-Jun Sui Hong-Yang Wang Qiang Xia Lei Chen | 2020 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2020,19,2: | 2 |

| 19 | PCR-based approaches for identification of multi-copy transgene integration sites in mouse genome显示文摘Generation of transgenic mice by DNA microinjection has become one of the most important technologies in studying gene function in vivo. Ran- dom integration of transgene often results in inser- tional mutation which may complicate phenotype analysis of transgenic mice and/or create a good opportunity to study the function of endogenous gene. However,the utilization of these potentially valuable resources is hampered due to lack of efficient ap- proaches for rapid identification of multi-copy trans- gene integration sites. Here we propose two PCR-based approaches to identifying trans- gene/genome junction sequences. The efficiency of these two strategies was tested in 9 independent transgenic mouse lines. Among them,the transgene in 8 mouse lines was clearly localized to certain chromosome regions.
