| 1 | Variations of organic carbon isotopic composition and its environmental significance during the last glacial on western Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘A high-resolution loess section in the western Chinese Loess Plateau, Yuanbao Section, was sampled for organic carbon isotopic analyses. The soil organic carbon isotope (δ13Corg) varied be- tween ?22.6‰ and ?27.5‰ during the last glacial at the section. During the last interstadial, the δ 13Corg values were more negative than those in both early and late periods of the last glacial by 4‰. The iso- topic composition indicates a coupled response of the pure C3 plants to the temperature, precipitation and the concentration of atmospheric CO2. Decrease in temperature and the atmospheric CO2 concentration from the last interstadial to Last Glaicial Maximum (LGM) caused the organic carbon isotopes to be- come positive by 1.5‰―2.0‰. The amplitude of 4‰ in the δ 13Corg variation during the last glacial should be mainly caused by the precipitation change. Therefore, the δ 13Corg variations of the Yuanbao Section during the last glacial period documented the large-amplitude fluctuation of the monsoon precipita- tion, which is estimated to be 250―310 mm more during the last interstadial than that in the LGM, and 100 mm more than that during early last glacial. The rapid changes of the monsoon precipitation on mil-lennial scale during the last glacial have also been recorded in the isotopic variations in Yuanbao loess section. | 2 | Formation mechanisms of megadunes and lakes in the Badain Jaran Desert,Inner Mongolia显示文摘Field observations demonstrate that calc-sinters occurred in the lakes of Badain Jaran Desert. 87Sr/86Sr ratios,14C,δ 13C and mineral com-positions of calc-sinters,and 3He/4He,4He/20Ne,δ 18O,δ D,pH and TDS of water from springs and lakes are analyzed in detail. The results indicate that the lake water is supplied through deep fault zone. The “ker-nel” of stabilized dunes in the Badain Jaran Desert perhaps consists of calc-sinters and calcareous ce-mentation layers. Deep-seated groundwater effuses from this “kernel” and recharges to lakes in desert. Precipitation and snowmelt water from the Qing-hai-Tibet Plateau is fed into the Badain Jaran Desert,Gurinai,Wentougaole and Ejinqi areas through the Xigaze-Langshan Fault zone. The isotopic composi-tions of groundwater in the Alax Plateau are abnor-mal due to the strong evaporation of the Gyaring and Ngoring lake water in the headstream of the Yellow River. Groundwater dissolves dissoluble fractions of rocks during its transportation through the fault zone and flows out of the mouth of spring in the Badan Jaran Desert. The dissoluble fractions are finally de-veloped into calc-sinters and calcareous cementation layers around the spring. Calci-sinters are gradually largened and eventually emerge on the surface of lake water. Eolian sands accumulate on the surfaces of calc-sinters and calcareous cementation layers,and eventually develop into dunes. Invasion of magma causes an increase in the temperature of groundwater within the faults. Groundwater evapora-tion provides water vapor for the formation of humid stabilized dunes during its upwelling. Rhizoconcre-tions found in Yihejigede indicate that the dune was formed and remained immovable 4700 years ago. | 3 | On the timing of the East Asian summer monsoon maximum during the Holocene Does the speleothem oxygen isotope record reflect monsoon rainfall variability?显示文摘The evolution of the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) during the Holocene has long been of significant interest.Knowledge of past EASM variability not only increases our understanding of monsoon dynamics on a long timescale,but it also provides an environmental and climatic background for research into Chinese cultural development.However,the timing of the EASM maximum remains controversial.The popular concept of an 'early Holocene maximum' is mainly based on speleothemδ^(18)O(δ^(18)O_c) records from caves in southern China;however,the interpretation of δ^(18)O_C as a reliable proxy for EASM intensity is being increasingly challenged.The present paper is a critical review of the climatic significance of the δ^(18)O_C record from China.Firstly,we suggest that precipitation in northern China is an appropriate index of EASM intensity,the variation of which clearly indicates a mid-Holocene monsoon maximum.Secondly,an interregional comparison demonstrates that the precipitation record in northern China is quite different from that in southern China on a range of timescales,and is inconsistent with the spatial similarity exhibited by speleothem oxygen isotope records.Furthermore,both modeling and observational data show that the δ^(18)O_C records from southern China indeed reflect changes in precipitation δ^(18)O(δ^(18)O_P) rather than precipitation amount,and therefore that their use as an EASM proxy is inappropriate.Finally,we address several significant monsoon-related issues-including the driving mechanism of the EASM on an orbital timescale,the climatic significance of speleothem oxygen isotopes,and the relationship between atmospheric circulation and precipitation in monsoonal regions. | CHEN JianHui RAO ZhiGuo LIU JianBao HUANG Wei FENG Song DONG GuangHui HU Yu XU QingHai CHEN FaHu | 2016 | Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,12: | 18 |

| 5 | Mid-Late Quaternary loess-paleosol sequence in Lantian's Yushan,China:An environmental magnetism approach and its paleoclimatic significance显示文摘The application of rock magnetism methods to investigating the variations of magnetic minerals in the sediments is an important approach to the reestablishment of paleoclimate evolution. Thus we performed fine magnetic measurements on the loess-paleosol sequence (from L15 upwards to S5, in which L is short for Loess, S is short for Paleosol, the same hereinafter) of Yushan strati-graphic section, which is on the southeastern margin of Chinese Loess Plateau, in Lantian County of China's Shaanxi Province, and the thickness of which is ca. 40 m. Our study shows that the primary magnetic carriers of loess and paleosol in this section are magnetite, maghemite, hematite and goethite. Thermomagnetic analyses on the samples of representative horizons show that the higher pedogenesis degree of the sediments, the smaller variations of magnetization there will be before and after heating, probably related to the pedogenic alteration of loess sediments. Analyses of several magnetic parameters show a significant discrepancy between the paleoclimatic conditions recorded in the strata from the loess unit L15 upward to the paleosol unit S5 in the study area and those recorded in the relative strata of other sections on the Chinese Loess Plateau, and those recorded in marine sediments, indicating the great impact of regional geological background. | 6 | Comparison of the carbon isotope composition of total organic carbon and long-chain n-alkanes from surface soils in eastern China and their significance显示文摘Surface soil samples collected over a high spatial resolution in eastern China were analyzed for carbon isotope composition(δ 13C) of total organic carbon(TOC) and higher plant-derived long-chain n-alkanes,with the latter reported as weighted mean values.The two sets of δ 13C values are significantly correlated and show similar trends in spatial variation.The spatial distribution of δ 13C shows less negative values in the mid-latitudes between 31°N and 40°N and more negative ones at higher and lower latitudes.This is consistent with previously reported carbon isotope data from surface soil phytoliths in the same region and suggests that the mid-latitude area provides relatively favorable growing conditions for C4 plants.Furthermore,δ 13C values of both TOC and long-chain n-alkanes from 12 surface soil samples collected from a small grassland in north China displayed similar carbon isotope values and the difference between paired δ 13C of a soil samples remains relatively constant.Our data demonstrate that in eastern China,soil δ 13C composition of both TOC and long-chain n-alkanes is effective indicators of C3/C4 ratios of the prevailing vegetation.This work suggests that -22‰ and -32‰ are good estimated end members for the weighted mean δ 13C values of long-chain n-alkanes(C27,C29 and C31 n-alkanes) from soils under dominant C4 or C3 vegetation,allowing us to reconstruct paleovegetation trends. | RAO ZhiGuo JIA GuoDong ZHU ZhaoYu WU Yi ZHANG JiaWu | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,24: | 10 |
| 7 | Is the maximum carbon number of long-chain n-alkanes an indicator of grassland or forest? | 8 | Relationship between climatic conditions and the relative abundance of modern C_3 and C_4 plants in three regions around the North Pacific显示文摘Using -24‰ and -14‰ as the endpoints of stable carbon isotopic composition of total organic carbon (δ 13CTOC) of surface soil under pure C3 and C4 vegetation, and surface soil δ 13CTOC data from eastern China, Australia and the Great Plains of North America, we estimate the relative abundance of C3/C4 plants (i.e., the ratio of C3 or C4 biomass to local primary production) in modern vegetation for each region. The relative abundance of modern C3/C4 vegetation from each region is compared to the corresponding climatic parameters (mean annual temperature and precipitation) to explore the relationship between relative C4 abundance and climate. The results indicate that temperature controls the growth of C4 plants. However, even where temperature is high enough for the growth of C4 plants, they will only dominate the landscape when precipitation declines as temperatures increase. Our results are consistent with those of other investigations of the geographic distribution of modern C4 plant species. | 9 | Spatial and temporal variations of C_3/C_4 relative abundance in global terrestrial ecosystem since the Last Glacial and its possible driving mechanisms显示文摘The primary factor controlling C 3 /C 4 relative abundance in terrestrial ecosystem since the Last Glacial has been widely debated. Now more and more researchers recognize that climate, rather than atmospheric CO 2 concentration, is the dominant factor. However, for a specific area, conflicting viewpoints regarding the more influential one between temperature and precipitation still exist. As temperature and precipitation in a specific area usually not only vary within limited ranges, but also covary with each other, it is difficult to get a clear understanding of the mechanism driving C 3 /C4 relative abundance. Therefore, systematic analysis on greater spatial scales may promote our understanding of the driving force. In this paper, records of C3/C4 relative abundance since the Last Glacial on a global scale have been reviewed, and we conclude that: except the Mediterranean climate zone, C3 plants predominated the high latitudes during both the Last Glacial and the Holocene; from the Last Glacial to the Holocene, C4 relative abundances increased in the middle latitudes, but decreased in the low latitudes. Combining with studies of modern process, we propose a simplified model to explain the variations of C3 /C4 relative abundance in global ecosystem since the Last Glacial. On the background of atmospheric CO2 concentration since the Last Glacial, temperature is the primary factor controlling C3/C4 relative abundance; when temperature is high enough, precipitation then exerts more influence. In detail, in low latitudes, temperature was high enough for the growth of C4 plants during both the Last Glacial and the Holocene; but increased precipitation in the Holocene inhibited the growth of C4 plants. In middle latitudes, rising temperature in the Holocene promoted the C4 expansion. In high latitudes, temperature was too low to favor the growth of C4 plants and the biomass was predominated by C3 plants since the Last Glacial. | 11 | Study on the mechanism of isotope fractionation in soil water during the evaporation process under equilibrium condition显示文摘In this study, with the method of vacuum extraction, two evaporative processes of soil water and free water under equilibrium condition were simulated. For each sample,water vapor was condensed by liquid nitrogen and was collected in four time intervals. From the analysis of hydrogen and oxygen isotopic compositions of the water collected at different times, it was discovered that the isotope fractionation of soil water also follows the mode, which is just the same as the evaporative process of free water. The relationship between the stable hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in residual water showed that the simulative evaporation line was close to the global meteoric water line (GMWL) under the equilibrium condition at about 20℃. | 12 | Different climatic controls of soil δ^(13)C_(org) in three mid-latitude regions of the Northern Hemisphere since the Last Glacial period显示文摘Paleoecological records of soil δ13Corg from three regions in the middle latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, including the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP), the Great Plains and adjacent areas of North America and northwestern Europe, showed different variations since the Last Glacial period. An at-tempt was made to evaluate the causes for the difference in δ13Corg on the basis of the modern climatic data collected in these regions and of the modern C3 and C4 plant distributions. The analysis indicates that temperature, especially the growing season temperature, has a dominant control on the growth of C4 plants. When the mean annual or growing season temperatures are below the 'threshold value' , the growth of C4 plants is limited. When the temperature is above the 'threshold value' , C4 plants can grow under a wide range of precipitation. However, when the precipitation is high enough to favor the growth of trees, the proportions of C4 plants in local biomass will decline. The implicit control factor recovered by sedimentary records is consistent with the control factor on modern C3/C4 distribution. Pure C3 plants have been dominating the local biomass since the Last Glacial period in European loess region, mainly owing to the low local temperature. | 13 | Compound-specific hydrogen isotopes of long-chain n-alkanes extracted from topsoil under a grassland ecosystem in northern China显示文摘To investigate characteristics of H isotope variation in long-chain n-alkanes (δDn-alkanes) from higher plants in surface soils under a single ecosystem, 12 samples from a basalt regolith were randomly collected from Damaping in Wanquan County of Zhangjiakou in North China. Molecular distribution and C (δ13Cn-alkanes) and H isotopes of long-chain n-alkanes, as well as C isotopes of TOC (δ13CTOC), were analyzed. Both δ13CTOC and δ13Cn-alkanes values from four representative dominant long-chain n-alkanes (n-C27, n-C29, n-C31, n-C33) derived from terrestrial higher plants show minor variations among the 12 samples, indicating the major contributor is from local grasses with a uniform C3 photosynthetic pathway. In contrast, variations in δDn-alkanes values of the four long-chain n-alkanes are relatively large, with the more abundant homologs generally showing more negative δDn-alkanes values and less variation. However, variation of <30‰ among weighted averaged δDn-alkanes values of the four long-chain n-alkanes is not only less than that among δDn-alkanes values for different modern terrestrial C3 grasses from the specific locations, but also less than the literature values of δDn-alkanes of long-chain n-alkanes for single species over different seasons. | 14 | Lake-level records support a mid-Holocene maximum precipitation in northern China显示文摘Lake level and its inferred East Asian summer monsoon(EASM)evolution in northern boundary of EASM during the Holocene are highly debated.Here,we present a 15-ka record of glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers(GDGTs)in a closed lake in northern China to address this issue.Surface and downcore sediment data demonstrate sedimentary GDGT-0 and branched GDGTs(brGDGTs)are of aquatic production.Contents of GDGT-0 and brGDGTs increase but brGDGT-based paleo-temperature proxy decreases with water depth in surface sediments along a nearshore to offshore transect.This trend is likely due to an increasingly hypoxic condition,favored by anaerobic microbes producing these GDGT-0 and brGDGTs,in bottom water.Accordingly,brGDGT-derived water temperature and pH would reflect bottom water conditions that are largely regulated by water depth of the lake.Downcore GDGT data and their derived temperature and pH consistently reveal a gradually increasing lake level from the late Pleistocene to the early Holocene,a high level during 9.5-5 ka BP and a decreasing trend afterward.The lake-level records from independent and robust proxies in this study largely agree with pollen records in the region,supporting a mid-Holocene maximum EASM precipitation. | Jiantao CAO Zhiguo RAO Fuxi SHI Ergang LIAN Guodong JIA | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,12: | 1 |

| 18 | Impaction of Aggregated Network Traffic on Queueing Performance显示文摘The impaction of aggregated network traffic on queueing system is studied in this paper. It shows that the network traffic stayed in buffer has different impaction on queueing performance when it is aggregated at different scales. And its influence is related not only to traffic parameters but also to system parameter, such as buffer size. The increased buffer size can absorb the effect of short-range dependence (SRD) in network traffic and only the effect of long-range dependence (LRD) is expressed. The queueing length is asymptotic Weibull distribution with increasing buffer size, which is irrespective with the effect of short-range dependence character. | 19 | 抗HPV16E6核酶对宫颈癌CaSKi细胞顺铂敏感性影响和机制的探讨(英文)显示文摘Objective:The aim of this study was to study the cisplatin sensitizing effect and mechanism of anti-HPV16 E6-ribozyme on cervical carcinoma cell line.Methods:The anti-HPV16E6-ribozyme and empty eucaryotic expressing plasmids were transfected into CaSKi cell,which named as CaSKi-R,CaSKi-P respectively.E6 mRNA,the sensitivity to cisplatin,apoptosis rates,expression of p53,Bcl-2,Bax and C-myc proteins and mRNA were examined by Northern blot,MTT colorimetric assay,PI/Annexin V stained methods,flow cytometry anslysis and RT-PCR,respectively.Results:E6 mRNA was less in CaSKi-R than in CaSKi.The sensitivity of CaSKi-R cells to cisplatin was 2.28 and 2.21 times than that of CaSKi and CaSKi-P cells.The apoptotic rates in CaSKi,CaSKi-P and CaSKi-R cells was (18.9 ± 3.5)%,(19.7 ± 4.8)% and (40.4 ± 4.5)%.The apoptotic rates was increased in CaSKi-R than that of CaSKi cells treated with cisplatin (P=0.003).Comapred with CaSKi cell,the expression of p53 (P=0.000),Bax protein (P=0.002) was significantly higher and the expression of Bcl-2 protein (P=0.005),C-myc protein (P=0.005) was significantly lower in CaSKi-R than that of CaSKi cell treated with cisplatin.Comapred with CaSKi cell,the expression of p53,Bax mRNA in CaSKi-R cell treated with cisplatin increased,while Bcl-2,C-myc mRNA decreased.Conclusion:CaSKi-R cells transfected by anti-HPVE6-ribozyme increased the sensitivity to cisplatin.The increase of sensitivity to cisplatin in CaSKi-R cells may be associated with increasing expression of p53,Bax protein,and decreasing expression of C-myc,Bcl-2 proteins. | Zhiguo Rao Jianfei Gao Bicheng Zhang Bo Yang Jiren Zhang | 2012 | The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2012,11,4: | 0 |
