1Genomic landscape and genetic manipulation of the black soldier fly Hermetia illucens,a natural waste recycler显示文摘The black soldier fly(BSF),Hermetia illucens(Diptera:Stratiomyidae),is renowned for its bioconversion of organic waste into a sustainable source of animal feed.We report a high-quality genome of 1.1 Gb and a consensus set of 16,770 gene models for this beneficial species.Compared to those of other dipteran species,the BSF genome has undergone a substantial expansion in functional modules related to septic adaptation,including immune system factors,olfactory receptors,and cytochrome P450s.We further profiled midgut transcriptomes and associated microbiomes of BSF larvae fed with representative types of organic waste.We find that the pathways related to digestive system and fighting infection are commonly enriched and that Firmicutes bacteria dominate the microbial community in BSF across all diets.To extend its potential practical applications,we further developed an efficient CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing approach and implemented this to yield flightless and enhanced feeding capacity phenotypes,both of which could expand BSF production capabilities.Our study provides valuable genomic and technical resources for optimizing BSF lines for industrialization.Shuai Zhan Gangqi Fang Minmin Cai Zongqing Kou Jun Xu Yanghui Cao Liang Bai Yixiang Zhang Yongmao Jiang Xingyu Luo Jian Xu Xia Xu Longyu Zheng Ziniu Yu Hong Yang Zhijian Zhang Sibao Wang Jeffery K.Tomberlin Jibin Zhang Yongping Huang 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:9
2Extrarenal Wilms’ Tumor of the Female Genital System:A Case Report and Literature Review显示文摘Extrarenal Wilms’ Tumors (ERWTs) are rare. There have been only 25 cases of ERWT arising from the female genital system reported in the literature. In this paper, we report a 60-year-old woman with a complaint of vaginal bleeding and a polypoid mass in the uterine cavity by sonography that was demonstrated as ERWT by pathology after resection. 3287例盆腔及腹主动脉旁淋巴结清扫术与卵巢上皮性癌生存预后的临床分析(英文)显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy and the prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods: 287 patients suffering from primary epithelial ovarian cancer from 1995 to 2005 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The 3-, 5-, 10-year survival with systematic lymphadenectomy (SL) were slightly higher than those without SL, but there were no statistically significance (P > 0.05). The 3-, 5-, 10-year survival of clinical stages without SL were lower than those with SL, but there were no significant difference either (P > 0.05). The 3-,5-, and 10-year survival rates with SL were higher than those without SL with no statistically differences (P > 0.05) among the subgroups such as absent, ≤ 2 cm and > 2 cm residual tumor. The survival rates of the groups without residual tumor and the group with ≤ 2 cm residual tumor were significantly higher than that of > 2 cm (P < 0.005). On multivariate analysis, patient staging (P = 0.01) and size of residual disease after primary cytoreductive surgery (P < 0.001 and = 0.002, respectively) retained prognostic significance. SL was not proved to be an independent prognostic factor (P = 0.69). 4Improvement of quality of Ginkgo biloba seeds powder by solid-state fermentation with Eurotium cristatum for developing high-value ginkgo seeds products显示文摘In this study,we investigated the feasibility of Ginkgo biloba seeds powder by solid-state fermen-tation with Eurotium cristatum for developing high-value ginkgo seeds products.The optimum fermentation medium was consisted of 10 g of 40-mesh ginkgo seeds powder loaded in 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask with 50%(w/w)of water content,4%(w/w)of MgSO_(4)and 5%(w/w)of KH_(2)PO_(4)addition.The optimum fermentation conditions were pH 5.0,2×10^(8)CFU/g of inoculum size,3 mL of sterilized water supplemented every two days during the four days of fermentation.Through fermentation,the spore number of E.cristatum was improved by about 36 times with the produc-tion of lovastatin reaching(54.10±0.16)μg/g.The antioxidant activity of fermented ginkgo seeds powder also got obvious enhancement,which could help eliminate excess free radicals produced by normal metabolism.The content of free amino acids increased by 82.32%.Except that the sugar was consumed in some degree,the other nutritional and functional components were well preserved while the content of detrimental ginkgolic acids was reduced by 44.97%.In addition,fermented ginkgo seeds powder possessed better digestibility and showed pleasant orange-like smelling.In conclusion,the quality of ginkgo seeds powder was remarkably improved through solid-state fermentation by using E.cristatum,which could be a promising way for functional applications of ginkgo seeds.Minmin Zou Jiarui Cao Wen Zhang Chao Tang Fuliang Cao Erzheng Su 2022Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2022,7,2:2
5Characterizing the Lassa Virus Envelope Glycoprotein Membrane Proximal External Region for Its Role in Fusogenicity显示文摘The membrane-proximal external region(MPER)of Lassa virus(LASV)glycoprotein complex(GPC)is critical in modulating its functionality.Till now,the high-resolution structure of the intact GPC,including MPER is not available.In this study,we used alanine substitution to scan all 16 residues located in LASV MPER.Western blotting and quantification fusion assay showed that the residues located at the C terminus of the HR2(M414 and L415)and N terminus of the MPER(K417 and Y419)are critical for GPC-mediated membrane fusion function.Furthermore,cell surface biotinylation experiments revealed that M414 A,K417 A and Y419 A expressed similar levels as WT,whereas L415 A mutant led to a reduction of mature GPC on the cell surface.Moreover,substitution of these residues with the similar residue such as M414 L,L415 I,K417 R and Y419 F would partly compensate the loss of the fusion activity caused by the alanine mutant in these sites.Results from this study showed that several key residues in the MPER region are indispensable to promote the conformational changes that drive fusion events and shed light on the structure analysis of LASV GPC and anti-LASV therapeutics.Junyuan Cao Guangshun Zhang Minmin Zhou Yang Liu Gengfu Xiao Wei Wang 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,2:1
6NO hydrogenation to NH3 over FeCu/TiO_(2) catalyst with improved activity显示文摘Ammonia is crucial in industry and agriculture, but its production is hindered by environmental concerns and energy-intensive processes. Hence, developing an efficient and environmentally friendly catalyst is imperative. In this study, we employed a straightforward and efficient impregnation technique to create various Cu-doped catalysts. Notably, the optimized 10Fe-8Cu/TiO_(2) catalyst exhibited exceptional catalytic performance in converting NO to NH3, achieving an NO conversion rate exceeding 80% and an NH3 selectivity exceeding 98% at atmospheric pressure and 350 °C. We employed in situ diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and conducted density functional theory calculations to investigate the intermediates and subsequent adsorption. Our findings unequivocally demonstrate that Cu doping enhances the rate-limiting hydrogenation step and lowers the energy barrier for NH3 desorption, thereby resulting in improved NO conversion and enhanced selectivity toward ammonia. 8Graphene binding on black phosphorus enables high on/off ratios and mobility显示文摘Graphene is one of the most promising candidates for integrated circuits due to its robustness against short-channel effects,inherent high carrier mobility and desired gapless nature for Ohmic contact,but it is difficult to achieve satisfactory on/off ratios even at the expense of its carrier mobility,limiting its device applications.Here,we present a strategy to realize high back-gate switching ratios in a graphene monolayer with well-maintained high mobility by forming a vertical heterostructure with a black phosphorus multi-layer.By local current annealing,strain is introduced within an established area of the graphene,which forms a reflective interface with the rest of the strain-free area and thus generates a robust off-state via local current depletion.Applying a positive back-gate voltage to the heterostructure can keep the black phosphorus insulating,while a negative back-gate voltage changes the black phosphorus to be conductive because of hole accumulation.Then,a parallel channel is activated within the strain-free graphene area by edge-contacted electrodes,thereby largely inheriting the intrinsic carrier mobility of graphene in the on-state.As a result,the device can provide an on/off voltage ratio of>10^(3)as well as a mobility of∼8000 cm^(2)V^(−1)s^(−1)at room temperature,meeting the low-power criterion suggested by the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems.Fanrong Lin Zhonghan Cao Feiping Xiao Jiawei Liu Jiabin Qiao Minmin Xue Zhili Hu Ying Liu Huan Lu Zhuhua Zhang Jens Martin Qingjun Tong Wanlin Guo Yanpeng Liu 2024National Science Review2024,11,2:0
9Evaluation the effect of fertility-preserving surgery on young patients with malignant ovarian tumors显示文摘Objection:To evaluate the impact of fertility-preserving surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy on survival and fertility of young patients with ovarian malignant tumors.Methods:Retrospective analysis of 39 patients with ovarian malignant germ cell tumors,23 patients with malignant epithelial tumors and 4 patients with sexual cord mesenchymal tumors receiving conser-vative treatments.Results:Two patients lost follow-up(we do not statistics them).Fifty-nine among 64 patients were alive up to now(92.19%).The overall survival rate for ovarian epithelial malignancies,malignant germ cell tumors and sexual cord mes-enchymal tumors were 95.45%,89.47% and 100% respectively.Fifteen patients received second operation and recurrence was found in 6 patients.Among the 59 surviving patients,53 patients have normal menstruation.Thirteen patients among 20 patients who want to pregnant have 15 pregnancies and 9 successful deliveries.Conclusion:The management of fertility-preserving surgery on patients with ovarian malignant germ cell tumors,whatever the FIGO staging is,is a safe option.For patients with ovarian epithelial carcinomas,fertility-preserving surgery only confined to low-stage(stage I),low-grade(G1),and patients who want keep fertility function seriously.Cisplatinum-based combination chemotherapy is necessary.Standardized chemotherapy has no affection on fertility function.Minmin Hou Mingrong Xi Zeyi Cao Xiaoyu Niu Zhilan Peng Hongjing Wang Ai Zheng 2006The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2006,5,6:0

11Simulation of greenhouse cucumber growth,water and nitrogen dynamics in areas with high groundwater(HG)levels using the HG EU-Rotate_N model显示文摘The fruit yield of cucumber are associated with high input of nitrogen,which poses a risk of pollution to the environment.The EU-Rotate_N model has been used widely for its high performance in the simulation of vegetable growth,water and nitrogen dynamics.However,whether the underground water level affects the performance of the EU-Rotate_N model is unclear.In this study,we modified the groundwater level algorithms to the original model and named the modified model'the HG EU-Rotate_N model'.Experiments over two years on greenhouse cucumber with four different nitrogen(N)treatments(N1-N4)were conducted in Jiangsu Province,China,which has a high groundwater level(area_(HG)).Both original and modified models were used to simulate cucumber growth,water movement and N fate.For the soil water content,the measured values were significantly larger than the simulated values of the original model(value_(O))and closer to those of the HG model(value_(HG));for the soil available nitrogen concentration(SNC),the measured values were significantly higher and lower than value_(O) in 0−10 cm and 10−30 cm soil layers,respectively,and were also closer to those of the values_(HG).The higher SNC in the 0-10 cm soil layer indicated that a high groundwater level might increase the upwards movement of water and nitrogen in the 0-30 cm soil layer.The root mean square error,Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency and difference values show that the HG model was more applicable for areaHG than the original model.In this study,the nitrogen dosage of the N3 treatment was sufficient to meet the requirements of cucumber growth,indicating that the fertilization recommendation according to nitrogen nutrient balance was applicable in this area.Bing Hua Zhuangzhuang Cao Kefeng Zhang Xiangying Xu Yonglong Zhang Haibo Dai Zhiping Zhang Jiezeng Jiang Minmin Miao 2022Vegetable Research2022,2,1:0
