1Biomimetic delivery of signals for bone tissue engineering显示文摘Bone tissue engineering is an exciting approach to directly repair bone defects or engineer bone tissue for transplantation.Biomaterials play a pivotal role in providing a template and extracellular environment to support regenerative cells and promote tissue regeneration. A variety of signaling cues have been identified to regulate cellular activity, tissue development, and the healing process. Numerous studies and trials have shown the promise of tissue engineering, but successful translations of bone tissue engineering research into clinical applications have been limited, due in part to a lack of optimal delivery systems for these signals. Biomedical engineers are therefore highly motivated to develop biomimetic drug delivery systems, which benefit from mimicking signaling molecule release or presentation by the native extracellular matrix during development or the natural healing process. Engineered biomimetic drug delivery systems aim to provide control over the location, timing, and release kinetics of the signal molecules according to the drug's physiochemical properties and specific biological mechanisms. This article reviews biomimetic strategies in signaling delivery for bone tissue engineering, with a focus on delivery systems rather than specific molecules. 2Human adenovirus(HAdV)infection in children with acute respiratory tract infections in Guangzhou,China,2010–2021:a molecular epidemiology study显示文摘Background Human adenovirus(HAdV)infection can cause a variety of diseases.It is a major pathogen of pediatric acute respiratory tract infections(ARIs)and can be life-threatening in younger children.We described the epidemiology and subtypes shifting of HAdV among children with ARI in Guangzhou,China.Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 161,079 children diagnosed with acute respiratory illness at the Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center between 2010 and 2021.HAdV specimens were detected by real-time PCR and the hexon gene was used for phylogenetic analysis.Results Before the COVID-19 outbreak in Guangzhou,the annual frequency of adenovirus infection detected during this period ranged from 3.92%to 13.58%,with an epidemic peak every four to fve years.HAdV demonstrated a clear seasonal distribution,with the lowest positivity in March and peaking during summer(July or August)every year.A signifcant increase in HAdV cases was recorded for 2018 and 2019,which coincided with a shift in the dominant HAdV subtype from HAdV-3 to HAdV-7.The latter was associated with a more severe disease compared to HAdV-3.The average mortality proportion for children infected with HAdV from 2016 to 2019 was 0.38%but increased to 20%in severe cases.After COVID-19 emerged,HAdV cases dropped to 2.68%,suggesting that non-pharmaceutical interventions probably reduced the transmission of HAdV in the community.Conclusion Our study provides the foundation for the understanding of the epidemiology of HAdV and its associated risks in children in Southern China.Yi Chen Tao Lin Chang‑Bing Wang Wan‑Li Liang Guang‑Wan Lian Mark Zanin Sook‑San Wong Xin‑Gui Tian Jia‑Yu Zhong Ying‑Ying Zhang Jia‑Hui Xie Ling‑Ling Zheng Fei‑Yan Chen Run Dang Ming‑Qi Zhao Yi‑Yu Yang Rong Zhou Bing Zhu 2022World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,8:5
3Novel smart supramolecular metallo-hydrogel that could selectively recognize and effectively remove Pb^(2+) in aqueous solution显示文摘A series of novel and simple ligands based on a biscarboxyl-functionalized benzimidazole derivative were synthesized.The experiments showed that the ligand L2 as a low molecular weight(LMW) hydrogelator could form stable metallo-hydrogels in the presence of up to 0.3 equiv.of lead ions.The metallo-hydrogels were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopic techniques.When the molar ratio of L2:Pb2+ was in the range of 1:0.3 to 1:0.5 a translucent gel was produced.When the L2:Pb2+ molar ratio was higher than 1:0.5 the resulting gel tended to be opaque.The morphologies of these metallo-hydrogels were L2/Pb ratio dependent,ranging from worm-like to rod-shaped and nanofibrous.The FT-IR and X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies revealed that L2-Pb complexation was the main driving force for the formation of the metallo-hydrogels.In addition,these metallo-hydrogels exhibited outstanding thermostability and thermoreversibility,and displayed a reversible sol-gel transition induced by changes in pH and EDTA concentration.Importantly,ligand L2 showed an excellent capacity for the removal of Pb 2+ in aqueous solution through the formation of metallo-hydrogels.At a L2:Pb molar ratio of 1:0.5 and below,the concentration of residual Pb2+ was as low as 7.6×10-5 mol/L in aqueous solution,and the removal ratio was as high as 95.4%.These results demonstrate that multi-channel responsive smart metallo-hydrogels have the potential to be widely applied in materials science,and might provide the basis for lead pollution capture and removal.WEI TaiBao DANG JianPeng LIN Qi YAO Hong LIU Yong ZHANG WanQiang MING JianJun ZHANG YouMing 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,12:3
4Feasibility study of creep feed grinding of 300M steel with zirconium corundum wheel显示文摘The ultrahigh strength 300M steel has been commonly used in the manufacture of aircraft landing gear and rotor shaft parts due to its excellent mechanical properties.Creep feed grinding is one of the essential operations during the whole component manufacturing processes.In this work,the feasibility of creep feed grinding of 300M steel by using the hard zirconium corundum wheel was theoretically and experimentally evaluated.A variety of responses including grinding forces,temperature fields,specific grinding energy,surface integrity and chip modes were carefully recorded.Besides,the mechanism of ground surface profile generation and the spatial frequency spectrum of the surface profile were tentatively analyzed.It was found that the wheel speed has a relative influence on the grinding forces and temperatures of which the work hardening effect dominates the material removal with lower wheel speed while the thermal softening becomes crucial as the wheel speed exceeds the critical value for the studied 300M steel.Furthermore,a scattered spatial frequency spectrum for the generated surface profile was noticed with lower wheel speed while the spectrum gathers towards the lower frequency values with higher amplitude as the wheel speed increases.The shearing chip and flowing chip dominates the main chip type,indicating the excellent abrasive sharpness during the grinding process.In general,the used zirconium corundum wheel presents feasibility for the creep feed grinding of 300M steel because of the high material removal rate,absence of surface burn,low wheel wear and higher compressive residual stresses.Jiaqiang DANG Heng ZANG Qinglong AN Weiwei MING Ming CHEN 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,3:2
5Surface morphology characterization of unidirectional carbon fibre reinforced plastic machined by peripheral milling显示文摘This paper aims to characterise surface morphology and 3D roughness parameters of unidirectional carbon fibre reinforced plastic(UD-CFRP)milled at 0°,45°,90°,and 135°fibre orientation angles(FOAs).Side milling experiments are conducted on UD-CFRP laminates.Surface damage forms and texture direction of milled surface are analysed.Spatial frequency of defects on CFRP surface is quantitatively determined using radially averaged 2D PSD.The kinematicdynamic surface topography is reconstructed considering feed,runout and vibration,then the ideal roughness parameters,S_(a),S_(q),S_(sk),and S_(ku)are calculated and compared with the measured ones,finally the material factor-induced roughness components are quantified.Results show that CFRP surface has no regular feed marks.The frequency of fibre breakage or surface defects is greater than tooth passing frequency.FOAs sorted by their average S_(a)in descending order is135°>90°>45°>0°,where surface defects contribute 93.9%,77.1%,73.2%,72.2%of the total roughness respectively,which suggests that surface defects show a more important role than tool kinematics and vibration in formation of milled surface.The negative Skewness(Ssk<0)and high Kurtosis(S_(ku)=4.0–11.5)of milled surface signify porosity and the presence of many anomalous deep valleys in milled surface,respectively.Chongyan CAI Jiaqiang DANG Qinglong AN Weiwei MING Ming CHEN 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,2:2
6Tetrahydropalmatine protects against methamphetamine-induced spatial learning and memory impairment in mice显示文摘Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of methamphetamine (MA) on spatial learning and memory and the role of tetrahydropalmatine (THP) in MA-induced changes in these phenomena in mice. Methods Male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into eight groups, according to different doses of MA, different doses of THP, treatment with both MA and THP, and saline controls. Spatial learning and memory were assessed using the Morris water maze. Western blot was used to detect the expression of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) in the mouse prefrontal cortex (PFC) and hippocampus. Results Repeated MA treatment significantly increased the escape latency in the learning phase and decreased the number of platform site crossings in the memory-test phase. ERK1/2 expression was decreased in the PFC but not in the hippocampus of the MA-treated mice. Repeated THP treatment alone did not affect the escape latency, the number of platform site crossings or the total ERK1/2 expression in the brain. Statistically significantly shorter escape latencies and more platform site crossings occurred in MA+THP-treated mice than in MA-treated mice. Conclusion Repeated MA administration impairs spatial learning and memory in mice, and its co-administration with THP prevents this impairment, which is probably attributable to changed ERK1/2 expression in the PFC. 7The digestible phosphorus requirement in practical diet for largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides)based on growth and feed utilization显示文摘The present study was conducted to estimate the optimum requirement of phosphorus in practical diets for largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides).Six iso-energetic and iso-nitrogenous diets were formulated with the supplementation of monocalcium phosphate(MCP)of 0,5,10,15,20 and 25 g/kg in basal diet containing 350 g/kg fish meal,respectively.The digestible phosphorus of the six diets was measured as 5.7,6.7,7.8,8.7,9.3 and 10.0 g/kg,respectively.Each diet was randomly fed to triplicate groups of 25 juvenile fish(initial body weight,16.0±0.2 g)for 60 days.The results showed that weight gain increased,and feed conversion ratio decreased with the increase of dietary phosphorus.When dietary MCP exceeded 15 g/kg(digestible phosphorus of 8.7 g/kg),the WG and FCR were maintained at the similar values.The crude ash,phosphorus and calcium contents in whole body,apparent digestibility of phosphorus and protein retention also increased with the increasing phosphorus level in diets.Vertebrae phosphorus and calcium levels and plasma phosphorus showed no further increase when dietary MCP reached 20,20 and 10 g/kg with digestible phosphorus of 9.3,9.3 and 7.8 g/kg,respectively.Broken-line analysis indicated that the digestible phosphorus requirement for largemouth bass were 8.9,8.7 and 9.6 g/kg based on weight gain,feed conversion ratio and vertebral phosphorus content.In conclusion,the supplementation of MCP in a diet containing 350 g/kg fish meal improved the growth and feed utilization of largemouth bass,and the digestible phosphorus requirement was suggested to be 8.7–8.9 g/kg with MCP supplementation of 15.0–15.8 g/kg.Pu Wang Xiaoqin Li Zhen Xu Dong Ji Ming He JiangYu Dang Xiang-jun Leng 2022Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,6:2

10Structural Basis of Glycan Recognition in Globally Predominant Human P[8]Rotavirus显示文摘Rotavirus(RV)causes acute gastroenteritis in infants and children worldwide.Recent studies showed that glycans such as histo-blood group antigens(HBGAs)function as cell attachment factors affecting RV host susceptibility and prevalence.P[8]is the predominant RV genotype in humans,but the structural basis of how P[8]RVs interact with glycan ligands remains elusive.In this study,we characterized the interactions between P[8]VP8~*s and glycans which showed that VP8~*,the RV glycan binding domain,recognized both mucin core 2 and H type 1 antigens according to the ELISA-based oligosaccharide binding assays.Importantly,we determined the structural basis of P[8]RV-glycans interaction from the crystal structures of a Rotateq P[8]VP8~*in complex with core 2 and H type 1 glycans at 1.82.3?,respectively,revealing a common binding pocket and similar binding mode.Structural and sequence analysis demonstrated that the glycan binding site is conserved among RVs in the P[Ⅱ]genogroup,while genotype-specific amino acid variations determined different glycan binding preference.Our data elucidated the detailed structural basis of the interactions between human P[8]RVs and different host glycan factors,shedding light on RV infection,epidemiology,and development of anti-viral agents.Xiaoman Sun Lei Dang Dandi Li Jianxun Qi Mengxuan Wang Wengang Chai Qing Zhang Hong Wang Ruixia Bai Ming Tan Zhaojun Duan 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,2:1

14Proanthocyanidins extracted from grape seeds inhibit the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma cells and induce apoptosis through the MAPK/AKT pathway显示文摘Proanthocyanidins naturally occur in various fruits,some vegetables and beverages.Increasing evidence has shown that dietary intake of proanthocyanidins is a promising alternative to tumor chemoprevention or chemotherapy.Grape seeds are the most abundant source of proanthocyanidins,and grape seed proanthocyanidins(GSPs)show an anticancer effect on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),which accounts for approximately 85-90%of all primary liver malignancies.Although an increasing number of studies have investigated the effects of GSPs on HCC and the associated mechanisms,the precise mechanism of GSP therapy in HCC remains unclear.This study aimed to understand the cytotoxic effect of GSPs on HepG2 cells by investigating morphology and growth inhibition.Cell proliferation and apoptosis were estimated by an MTT assay and flow cytometry,and the protein expression of HepG2 cells was determined through Western blotting.The results indicated that GSPs could markedly inhibit HepG2 liver cancer cells and induce apoptosis,with the effects varying by dose and treatment time.Furthermore,GSPs inhibited the phosphorylation of extracellular regulated protein kinases(ERK),c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(JNK),p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK),IκBα,pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1(PDK1),glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta(GSK3β)and protein kinase B(AKT),which accounted for the inactivation of mitogen-activated protein kinase/AKT(MAPK/AKT)pathways.These results indicate that GSPs are a potential source of natural chemopreventive agents for the treatment of HCC.Wancai Zheng a Yujing Feng Yujia Bai Zuoshan Feng Xijuan Yang Bin Dang Ming Xiao Jianmei Zhang Sheng-Qiang Han 2022Food Bioscience2022,45,1:1

17The Role of the PNI and NLR in Nutritional Risk Screening and Assessment of Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Background The use of nutritional risk screening and assessment is becoming increasingly common in cancer patients.The Nutritional Risk Screening 2002(NRS 2002)is a nutritional risk screening programe with good utility.The patient generated-subjective global assessment(PG-SGA)is a method used to assess the nutritional status of cancer patients.The prognostic nutritional index(PNI)and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)are considered to be predictors of the prognosis following treatment for patients with a variety of cancers.However,the relationship between the PNI and NLR in the nutritional screening and assessment in patients with gastric cancer is unknown.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 378 patients with gastric cancer who underwent surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from August 2019 to December 2020.NRS 2002 and PG-SGA were performed within 24 hours of admission,and indicators such as the serum albumin level,body mass index(BMI),PNI and NLR were measured.Results In the grouping based on the NRS2002,patients in the positive group(NRS 2002≥3)had a higher platelet value,a higher median NLR,and a lower PNI than those in the negative group(NRS 2002<3)(295.50±118.49×10^(9)/L vs.269.36±93.52×10^(9)/L,2.38 vs.1.77,42.36±5.96 vs.46.64±4.29).Based on the PG-SGA grouping,the serum albumin level and lymphocyte count were highest in the mild group(PG-SGA:score 2-3),(36.94±3.51 g/L and 1.91±0.7610^(9)/L)and lowest within the severe group(PG SGA score≥9)(34.09±4.18 g/L and 1.51±0.6410^(9)/L).The BMI was highest in the mild group(23.35±3.00 kg/m^(2))and lowest in the severe group(20.63±2.97 kg/m^(2)),and the PNI was also highest in the mild group(46.50±5.17)and lowest in the severe group(41.64±5.53).However,the NLR was lowest in the mild group(median 1.91)and highest in the severe group(median 2.44).Conclusion The PNI and NLR in gastric cancer patients are closely related to the results of the nutritional risk screening and assessment,suggesting that they may be useful to guide the nutritional interventions for gastric cancer patients.Hui Chao Ruan Xiang Hua Wu Dao Lai Huang Xiao Bin Fu Chao Zhang Kun Zhou Guan Yu Zhu Dang Liu Jin Tao Cai Ming Hao Tan 2022Journal of Nutritional Oncology2022,7,4:1

20Donor-Acceptor Typed AIE Luminogens with Near-infrared Emission for Super-resolution Imaging显示文摘Aggregation-induced emission(AIE)luminogens(AIEgens)with high brightness in aggregates exhibit great potentials in biological imaging,but these AIEgens are seldom applied in super-resolution biological imaging,especially in the imaging by using the structural illumination microscope(SIM).Based on this consideration,we synthesized the donor-acceptor typed AIEgen of DTPA-BTN,which not only owns high brightness in the near-infrared(NIR)emission region from 600 nm to 1000 nm(photoluminescence quantum yield,PLQYs=11.35%),but also displays excellent photo-stability.In addition,AIE nanoparticles based on 4,7-ditriphenylamine-[1,2,5]-thiadiazolo[3,4-c]pyridine(DTPA-BTN)were also prepared with highly emissive features and excellent biocompatibility.Finally,the developed DTPA-BTN-based AIE nanoparticles were applied in the super-resolution cellular imaging via SIM,where much smaller full width at half-maximum values and high signal to noise ratios were obtained,indicating the superior imaging resolution.The results here imply that highly emissive AIEgens or AIE nanoparticles can be promising imaging agents for super-resolution imaging via SIM.SHEN Qifei XU Ruohan WANG Zhi ZHAO Tianyu ZHOU Yu XU Yanzi YANG Zhiwei LEI Ming MENG Lingjie DANG Dongfeng 2021Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2021,37,1:0
