| 1 | First China ocean reflection experiment using coastal GNSS-R显示文摘It is a new way for oceanographic remote sensing using the GNSS-Reflection technique. Sea waves, tides and sea surface wind can be obtained by analyzing the direct and reflected GPS signals from sea surface. It has become an advanced field concerned by many researchers. In this paper the first China Ocean Reflection Experiment (CORE) with the coastal GNSS-R in the southeast is reported and the method to retrieve oceanographic parameters with the direct and reflected GPS signals is studied. | 2 | Evaluation of zeolites synthesized from fly ash as potential adsorbents for wastewater containing heavy metals显示文摘The pure-form zeolites(A and X) were synthesized by applying a two-stage method during hydrothermal treatment of fly ash prepared initial Cu and Zn gel. The difference of adsorption capacity of both synthesized zeolits was assessed using Cu and Zn as target heavy metal ions. It was found that adsorption capacity of zeolite A showed much higher value than that of zeolite X. Thus,attention was focused on investigating the removal performance of heavy metal ions in aqueous solution on zeolite A,comparing with zeolite HS(hydroxyl-solidate) prepared from the residual fly ash(after synthesis of pure-form zeolite A from fly ash) and a commercial grade zeolite A. Batch method was used to study the influential parameters of the adsorption process. The equilibrium data were well fitted by the Langmuir model. The removal mechanism of metal ions followed adsorption and ion exchange processes. | 3 | Reuse of Fenton sludge as an iron source for NiFe_2O_4 synthesis and its application in the Fenton-based process显示文摘The potentially hazardous iron-containing sludge from the Fenton process requires proper treatment and disposal, which often results in high treatment cost. In this study, a novel method for the reuse of Fenton sludge as an iron source for the synthesis of nickel ferrite particles(NiFe_2O_4) is proposed. Through a co-precipitation method followed by sintering at 800°C, magnetic NiFe_2O_4 particles were successfully synthesized, which was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electronic microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy. The synthesized NiFe_2O_4 could be used as an efficient catalyst in the heterogeneous Fenton process. In phenol degradation with H_2O_2 or NiFe_2O_4 alone, the phenol removal efficiencies within the reaction time of 330 min were as low as 5.9% ± 0.1% and 13.5% ±0.4%, respectively. However, in the presence of both NiFe_2O_4 and H_2O_2, phenol removal efficiency as high as 95% ± 3.4% could be achieved, indicating the excellent catalytic performance of NiFe_2O_4 in the heterogeneous Fenton process. Notably, a rapid electron exchange between_Ni II and_Fe III ions in the NiFe_2O_4 structure could be beneficial for the Fenton reaction. | 4 | Reduction of VOC emissions by a membrane-based gas absorption process显示文摘A membrane-based gas absorption (MGA) process was evaluated for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) based on C6H6/N2 mixture. The absorption of C6H6 from a C6H6/N2 mixture was investigated using a hydrophobic polypropylene hollow fiber membrane contactor and the aqueous solution of N-formyl morpholine (NFM) as absorbent. The effects of various factors on the overall mass transfer coefficient was investigated. The experimental results showed that the removal efficiency of C6H6 could reach 99.5% in present studied system. A mathematical model based on resistance-in-series concept was presented to predict the value of overall mass transfer coefficient. The average error between the predicted and experimental values is 7.9%. | 5 | Removal of phosphate from wastewater using alkaline residue显示文摘Alkaline residue(AR) was found to be an efficient adsorbent for phosphate removal from wastewater. The kinetic and equilibrium of phosphate removal were investigated to evaluate the performance of modified alkaline residue. After treatment by NaOH(AR-NaOH), removal performance was significantly improved, while removal performance was almost completely lost after treatment by HCl(AR-HCl). The kinetics of the removal process by all adsorbents was well characterized by the pseudo second-order model. The Langmuir model exhibited the best correlation for AR-HCl, while AR was effectively described by Freundlich model. Both models were well fitted to AR-NaOH. The maximum adsorption capacities calculated from Langmuir equation were in following manner: AR-NaOH > AR > AR-HCl. Phosphate removal by alkaline residue was pH dependent process. Mechanisms for phosphate removal mainly involved adsorption and precipitation, varied with equilibrium pH of solution. For AR-HCl, the acid equilibrium pH(< 6.0) was unfavorable for the formation of Ca-P precipitate, with adsorption as the key mechanism for phosphate removal. In contrast, for AR and ARNaOH, precipitation was the dominant mechanism for phosphate removal, due to the incrase on pH(> 8.0) after phosphate removal. | 7 | Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal in an aerobic granular system显示文摘Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal were successfully achieved in a sequencing batch reactor(SBR) based on aerobic granules. In a typical SBR cycle, nitritation occurred obviously after the majority of pyridine was removed, while denitrification occurred at early stage of the cycle when oxygen consumption was aggravated. The effect of several key operation parameters, i.e., air flow rate, influent NH_4^+-N concentration,influent p H and pyridine concentration, on nitritation, pyridine degradation and total nitrogen(TN) removal, was systematically investigated. The results indicated that high air flow rate had a positive effect on both pyridine degradation and nitritation but a negative impact of overhigh air flow rate. With the increase of NH_4^+ dosage, both nitritation and TN removal could be severely inhibited. Slightly alkaline condition, i.e., pH 7.0–8.0, was beneficial for both pyridine degradation and nitritation. High pyridine dosage often resulted in the delay of both pyridine degradation and nitritation. Besides, extracellular polymeric substances production was affected by air flow rate, NH_4^+ dosage, pyridine dosage and p H.In addition, high-throughput sequencing analysis demonstrated that Bdellovibrio and Paracoccus were the dominant species in the aerobic granulation system. | 12 | Reductive transformation and detoxification mechanism of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene in combined zero valent iron and anaerobic-aerobic process显示文摘A combined zero valent iron (ZVI) and anaerobic-aerobic process was adopted for the treatment of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)-containing wastewater. The transformation pathway, reduction of acute toxicity and enhancement of biodegradability were investigated. After pretreatment by ZVI, DNCB in wastewater could be completely converted into 2,4-diaminochlorobenzene (DACB). The ratio of BOD5/COD increased from 0.005±0.001 to 0.168±0.007, while EC 50, 48 hr (V/V) increased from 0.65% to 5.20%, indicating the enhancement of biodegradability and reduction of acute toxicity with the pretreatment by ZVI. DACB was further dechlorinated to m-phenylenediamine during the anaerobic process using methanol as electron donor, with EC50, 48 hr increasing from 5.20% to 48.2%. After the subsequent anaerobic-aerobic process, m-phenylenediamine was degraded completely, with effluent COD of 67.5±10.8 mg/L. This effluent of the subsequent anaerobic-aerobic process was not toxic to zebrafish. | 14 | Preparation of composite poly(ether block amide)membrane for CO_2 capture显示文摘In this study, a poly(ether block amide)(Pebax 1657) composite membrane applied for CO2 capture was prepared by coating Pebax 1657 solution on polyacrylonitrile(PAN) ultrafiltration membrane. Ethanol/water mixture was used as the solvent of Pebax and the effects of ethanol/water mass ratios and Pebax concentration on the permeation properties of composite membrane were studied. To enhance the composite membrane permeance, the gutter layer, made from reactive amino silicone crosslinking with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS), was designed. The influence of crosslinking degree of the gutter layer on membrane performance was investigated. As a result, a Pebax/aminoPDMS/PAN multilayer membrane with hexane resistance was developed, showing CO2 permeance of 350 GPU and CO2/N2 selectivity over50. The blend of polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether(PEG-DME) with Pebax as coating material was studied to further improve the membrane performance. | 15 | Porous N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene network: Three-dimensional hierarchical architecture for strong and broad electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘Electromagnetic wave absorber is critical for reducing increasingly serious electromagnetic wave pollu-tion,however,the development of lightweight and broadband microwave absorbers remains a pressing challenge.We report here the rational design and synthesis of N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene composite con-structed from 3D interconnected porous graphene network and Ni@SiO_(2) core-shell architecture,which fulfills lightweight and broadband requirements while exhibiting highly efficient electromagnetic wave absorption.The porous graphene network,functioning both as lightweight support and dielectric medi-ator,was synthesized via NaCl template-assisted high-temperature calcination method.Upon uniformly attached with core-shell Ni@SiO_(2) on the surface,the resulting abundant heterogeneous interfaces con-structed by graphene-Ni and Ni-SiO_(2) strongly reinforce polarization loss.The presence of low dielectric SiO_(2) allows facile tuning of the complex permittivity of ternary composite by adjusting coating thick-ness to balance the attenuation ability and impedance matching.Moreover,further N-doping of graphene assists in the optimization of dielectric loss ability.Taking account of the advantages arising from the porous hierarchical architecture,multiple absorption centers and diverse interfaces,the lightweight com-posite exhibits an ultra-strong reflection loss(RL)value of-71.13 dB at 13.76 GHz with a thickness of 2.46 mm and broad effective absorption bandwidth of 7.04 GHz at a low filler content of 15 wt.%.More importantly,the effective absorption range covers 13.28 GHz(4.72-18 GHz)with the optimized thickness of 1.6-5 mm,representing 83%of the whole range of frequencies.Our results demonstrate that the novel 3D porous N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene network with hierarchical architecture is a promising candidate for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption. | Rui Guo Qi Zheng Lianjun Wang Yuchi Fan Wan Jiang | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,11: | 3 |

| 19 | Cenozoic terrestrial palynological assemblages in the glacial erratics from the Grove Mountains, east Antarctica显示文摘Fossiliferous glacial erratics have been found in moraines of the Grove Mountains, east Antarctica since 1998 by Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHNARE) teams. These erratics were derived from a suite of glaciogene strata hidden beneath the Antarctic Ice Sheet in the Lambert glacier drainage system, and thus provide a record of Cenozoic paleoenvironmental conditions and fossil biotas that are so far unknown from outcrops and drill cores in this region. By microfossil analysis, sparse Neogene spores and pollen grains are revealed, including: Toroisporis (Lygodiaceae), Granulatisporites (Pteridaceae?), Osmunda (Osmundaceae), Polypodiaceae, Magnastriatites (Parkeriaceae), Deltoidospora, Araucariaceae, Taxodiaceae, Podocarpus (Podocarpaceae), Dacrydium (Podocarpaceae), Pinus (Pinaceae), Keteleeria (Pinaceae), Picea (Pinaceae), Tsuga (Pinaceae), Chenopodiaceae, Artemisia (Asteraceae), Asteraceae, Gramineae, Fraxinoipollenites (Oleaceae), Oleoidearumpollenites (Oleaceae), Oleaceae, Operculumpollis, Nothofagidites (Nothofagus), Rhus, Quercus (Fagaceae), Juglans (Juglandaceae), Pterocarya (Juglandaceae), Liquidambar (Hamamelidaceae), Ulmus (Ulmaceae), Ulmoidepites (Ulmaceae), Tilia, Proteacidites (Proteaceae) and Tricolpopollenites; but without any marine diatoms. Most of the spores and pollen grains in the erratics are considered to originate from local sources except for some older exotic components that might be recycled from the basement sedimentary rocks by the ice sheet, so they are in situ sporo-palynological assemblages. Furthermore, since the source areas of the glaciogenic sedimentary rocks are assumed to be local or in the up glacier areas, the palynological assemblages in these erratics represent an inland terrestrial flora during a warmer period of the ice-sheet evolutionary history. The ages of these erratics are also discussed based on the occurrence of some diagnostic pollens such as the Artemisia, Chenopodiaceae and Nothofagus, which implies Neogene (most probably Pliocene). As a preliminary conclusion, we think that the existence of the Cenozoic glaciogenic rocks and their palynological assemblages present new evidence for a large scale glacial retreat event in the Grove Mountains of east Antarctica, and thus support a dynamic East Antarctic Ice Sheet (EAIS).
