1Synergistic antibacterial effect of honey and Herba Ocimi Basilici against some bacterial pathogens显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the antibacterial activity of the combination of different honey brands and methanolic fraction of Herba Ocimi Basilici using agar well diffusion assay. METHODS: The antibacterial activity was determined against thirteen pathogenic bacterial clinical isolates including six gram negative(Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimirium, Xanthomonas campestris) and six gram positive strains(Enterococcus faecalis faecalis, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens type C, Clostridium perfringens type D, Clostridium chauvoei). Agar well diffusion method was used while zones of inhibition were measured with vernier scale. RESULTS: At higher concentration, all the honey brands showed good to significant activity. The highest activity was observed for Hamdard brand honey(27.60±0.40) against Enterococcus faecalis. CONCLUSION: These results revealed that combinations of plant extracts of Herba Ocimi Basilici with honey can be used for the development of potent and novel antibacterial agents.Ali Talha Khalil Imran Khan Kafeel Ahmad Yusra Ali Khan Momin Khan Muhammad Jaseem Khan 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,6:4
2Neuromuscular electrical stimulation and testosterone did not influence heterotopic ossification size after spinal cor injury: A case series显示文摘Neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES) and testosterone replacement therapy(TRT) are effective rehabilitation strategies to attenuate muscle atrophy and evoke hypertrophy in persons with spinal cord injury(SCI). However both interventions might increase heterotopic ossification(HO) size in SCI patients. We present the results of two men with chronic traumatic motor complete SCI who also had pre-existing HO and participated in a study investigating the effects of TRT or TRT plus NMES resistance training(RT) on body composition. The 49-year-old male, Subject A, has unilateral HO in his right thigh. The 31-year-old male, Subject B, has bilateral HO in both thighs. Both participants wore transdermal testosterone patches(4-6 mg/d) daily for 16 wk. Subject A also underwent progressive NMES-RT twice weekly for 16 wk. Magnetic resonance imaging scans were acquired prior to and post intervention. Cross-sectional areas(CSA) of thewhole thigh and knee extensor skeletal muscles, femoral bone, and HO were measured. In Subject A(NMES-RT + TRT), the whole thigh skeletal muscle CSA increased by 10%, the knee extensor CSA increased by 17%, and the HO + femoral bone CSA did not change. In Subject B(TRT), the whole thigh skeletal muscle CSA increased by 13% in the right thigh and 6% in the left thigh. The knee extensor CSA increased by 7% in the right thigh and did not change in the left thigh. The femoral bone and HO CSAs in both thighs did not change. Both the TRT and NMES-RT + TRT protocols evoked muscle hypertrophy without stimulating the growth of preexisting HO.Pamela D Moore Ashraf S Gorgey Rodney C Wade Refka E Khalil Timothy D Lavis Rehan Khan Robert A Adler 2016World Journal of Clinical Cases2016,4,7:3

73D Head Pose Estimation through Facial Features and Deep Convolutional Neural Networks显示文摘Face image analysis is one among several important cues in computer vision.Over the last five decades, methods for face analysis have received immense attention due to large scale applications in various face analysis tasks.Face parsing strongly benefits various human face image analysis tasks inducing face pose estimation. In this paper we propose a 3D head pose estimation framework developed through a prior end to end deep face parsing model. We have developed an end to end face parts segmentation framework through deep convolutional neural networks(DCNNs).For training a deep face parts parsing model,we label face images for seven different classes, including eyes, brows, nose, hair, mouth, skin, and back.We extract features from gray scale images by using DCNNs.We train a classifier using the extracted features. We use the probabilistic classification method to produce gray scale images in the form of probability maps for each dense semantic class. We use a next stage of DCNNs and extract features from grayscale images created as probability maps during the segmentation phase. We assess the performance of our newly proposed model on four standard head pose datasets, including Pointing’04,Annotated Facial Landmarks in the Wild(AFLW),Boston University(BU),and ICT-3DHP,obtaining superior results as compared to previous results.Khalil Khan Jehad Ali Kashif Ahmad Asma Gul Ghulam Sarwar Sahib Khan Qui Thanh Hoai Ta Tae-Sun Chung Muhammad Attique 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,2:1

9CO oxidation on MXene(Mo_(2)CS_(2)) supported single-atom catalyst: A termolecular Eley-Rideal mechanism显示文摘Finding transition metal catalysts for effective catalytic conversion of CO to CO_(2)has attracted much attention.MXene as a new 2D layered material of early transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbo-nitrides is a robust support for achoring metal atoms. In this study, the electronic structure, geometries, thermodynamic stability, and catalytic activity of MXene (Mo_(2)CS_(2)) supported single noble metal atoms (NM=Ru,Rh,Pd,Ir,Pt and Au) have been systematically examined using first-principles calculations and ab initio molecular dynamic (AIMD) simulations.First,AIMD simulations and phonon spectra demonstrate the dynamic and thermal stabilities of Mo_(2)CS_(2)monolayer.Three likely reaction pathways,LangmuirHinshelwood (LH),Eley-Rideal (ER),and Termolecular Eley–Rideal (TER) for CO oxidation on the Ru1-and Ir_(1)@Mo_(2)CS_(2)SACs,have been studied in detail. It is found that CO oxidation mainly proceeds via the TER mechanism under mild reaction conditions. The corresponding rate-determining steps are the dissociation of the intermediate (OCO-Ru_(1)-OCO) and formation of OCO-Ir_(1)-OCO intermediate. The downshift d-band center of Ru1-and Ir_(1)@Mo_(2)CS_(2)help to enhance activity and improve catalytst stability. Moreover,a microkinetic study predicts a maximum CO oxidation rate of 4.01×10^(2)s^(-1)and 4.15×10^(3)s^(-1)(298.15K) following the TER pathway for the Ru_(1)-and Ir_(1)@Mo_(2)CS_(2)catalysts,respectively.This work provides guideline for fabricating and designing highly efficient SACs with superb catalyts using MXene materials.Shamraiz Hussain Talib Zhansheng Lu Beenish Bashir Sajjad Hussain Khalil Ahmad Salahuddin Khan Sajjad Haider Zongxian Yang Kersti Hermansson Jun Li 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,2:0
10Race Classification Using Deep Learning显示文摘Race classification is a long-standing challenge in the field of face image analysis. The investigation of salient facial features is an important task to avoid processing all face parts.Face segmentation strongly benefits several face analysis tasks, including ethnicity and race classification. We propose a race-classification algorithm using a prior face segmentation framework.A deep convolutional neural network(DCNN)was used to construct a face segmentation model. For training the DCNN,we label face images according to seven different classes, that is,nose, skin, hair, eyes, brows, back, and mouth. The DCNN model developed in the first phase was used to create segmentation results. The probabilistic classification method is used, and probability maps(PMs)are created for each semantic class. We investigated five salient facial features from among seven that help in race classification.Features are extracted from the PMs of five classes, and a new model is trained based on the DCNN.We assessed the performance of the proposed race classification method on four standard face datasets, reporting superior results compared with previous studies.Khalil Khan Rehan Ullah Khan Jehad Ali Irfan Uddin Sahib Khan Byeong-hee Roh 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,9:0

12Bug Prioritization Using Average One Dependence Estimator显示文摘Automation software need to be continuously updated by addressing software bugs contained in their repositories. However, bugs have different levels of importance;hence,it is essential to prioritize bug reports based on their sever-ity and importance.Manually managing the deluge of incoming bug reports faces time and resource constraints from the development team and delays the resolu-tion of critical bugs. Therefore, bug report prioritization is vital. This study pro-poses a new model for bug prioritization based on average one dependence estimator;it prioritizes bug reports based on severity, which is determined by the number of attributes. The more the number of attributes, the more the severity. The proposed model is evaluated using precision,recall,F1-Score,accuracy,G-Measure,and Matthew’s correlation coefficient. Results of the proposed model are compared with those of the support vector machine(SVM)and Naive Bayes(NB)models.Eclipse and Mozilla datasetswere used as the sources of bug reports. The proposed model improved the bug repository management and out-performed the SVM and NB models.Additionally, the proposed model used a weaker attribute independence supposition than the former models, thereby improving prediction accuracy with minimal computational cost.Kashif Saleem Rashid Naseem Khalil Khan Siraj Muhammad Ikram Syed Jaehyuk Choi 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,6:0

14Fault Tolerant Suffix Trees显示文摘Classical algorithms and data structures assume that the underlying memory is reliable, and the data remain safe during or after processing. However, the assumption is perilous as several studies have shown that large and inexpensive memories are vulnerable to bit flips. Thus, the correctness of output of a classical algorithm can be threatened by a few memory faults.Fault tolerant data structures and resilient algorithms are developed to tolerate a limited number of faults and provide a correct output based on the uncorrupted part of the data.Suffix tree is one of the important data structures that has widespread applications including substring search, super string problem and data compression. The fault tolerant version of the suffix tree presented in the literature uses complex techniques of encodable and decodable error-correcting codes, blocked data structures and fault-resistant tries. In this work,we use the natural approach of data replication to develop a fault tolerant suffix tree based on the faulty memory random access machine model. The proposed data structure stores copies of the indices to sustain memory faults injected by an adversary. We develop a resilient version of the Ukkonen’s algorithm for constructing the fault tolerant suffix tree and derive an upper bound on the number of corrupt suffixes.Iftikhar Ahmad Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Ambreen Shahnaz Sadeeq Jan Salma Noor Wajeeha Khalil Fazal Qudus Khan Muhammad Iftikhar Khan 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,1:0
15Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System Assessment of the Nutrients Limiting and Nutritional Status of Tomato显示文摘Tomato is an important field crop, and nutritional imbalances frequently reduce its yield.Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System(DRIS),uses ratios for nutrient deficiency diagnosis instead of absolute concentration in plant tests. In this study, local DRIS norms for the field tomatoes were established and the nutrient(s)limiting tomatoes yield were determined.Tomato leaves were analyzed for nutrients,to identify nutritional status using the DRIS approach. One hundred tomatoes fields were selected from Chatter Plain Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Sheikupura Punjab Pakistan. The first fully matured leaf was sampled, rinsed, dried and ground for analyzing P,K,Ca,Mg,Cu,Fe,Mn and Zn using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrophotometer(ICP AES).Plant tissue N and S were measured by the combustion method. The tomatoes yields were recorded at each location. The data were divided into high-yielding(≥3.79 kg/10 plant)and low-yielding(<3.79 kg/10 plant)populations and norms were computed using standard DRIS procedures.High-yielding plant population had a statistically greater mean S and Fe than the low-yielding population. The average balance index, the sum of functions, for S and Fe were−11.04 and−5.17 which reflected deficiency of S and Fe.Plant nutrients norms established may optimize plant nutrition in field tomatoes for high yield.Rabia Manzoor Mohammad Saleem Akhtar Khalid Saifullah Khan Taqi Raza Muhammad Ishaq Asif Rehmani Carl Rosen Muhammad Khalil ur Rehman Nahla Zidan Fahad MAlzuaibr Nisreen MAbdulsalam Najla AKhateeb Majid Alhomrani Abdulhakeem SAlamri Javeed Ahmad Lone Muhammad Ammar Raza Ayman El Sabagh 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,12:0
16Determinants of corporate cash holdings in tranquil and turbulent period:evidence from an emerging economy显示文摘Using a sample of 280 firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange,we empirically investigate factors that determine corporate cash holdings in different periods from 2005 to 2014.We divide the sample into three sub-periods—pre-crisis,crisis,and post-crisis—and apply a panel data model to estimate the results. The results suggest that financial crises affect firms’cash holdings policies.Further, findings show that financial crisis has influenced the relationship of size and leverage with cash holdings. In particular, cash flow, liquidity, and tangibility are major determinants of cash holdings in the sub-periods.We present important implications for corporate managers, academicians, and policymakers.Khalil Jebran Amjad Iqbal Kalim Ullah Bhat Muhammad Arif Khan Mustansar Hayat 2019Financial Innovation2019,5,1:0
