| 1 | Impact of endoscopic screening on mortality reduction from gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate mortality reduction from gastric cancer based on the results of endoscopic screening.METHODS:The study population consisted of participants of gastric cancer screening by endoscopy,regular radiography,and photofluorography at Niigata city in 2005.The observed numbers of cumulative deaths from gastric cancers and other cancers were accumulated by linkage with the Niigata Prefectural Cancer Registry.The standardized mortality ratio(SMR)of gastric cancer and other cancer deaths in each screening group was calculated by applying the mortality rate of the reference population.RESULTS:Based on the results calculated from the mortality rate of the population of Niigata city,the SMRs of gastric cancer death were 0.43(95%CI:0.30-0.57)for the endoscopic screening group,0.68(95%CI:0.55-0.79)for the regular radiographic screening group,and 0.85(95%CI:0.71-0.94)for the photofluorography screening group.The mortality reduction from gastric cancer was higher in the endoscopic screening group than in the regular radiographic screening group despite the nearly equal mortality rates of all cancers except gastric cancer.CONCLUSION:The 57%mortality reduction from gastric cancer might indicate the effectiveness of endoscopic screening for gastric cancer.Further studies and prudent interpretation of results are needed. | Chisato Hamashima Kazuei Ogoshi Rintarou Narisawa Tomoki Kishi Toshiyuki Kato Kazutaka Fujita Masatoshi Sano Satoshi Tsukioka | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，8： | 16 |
| 2 | Overexpression of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase(SAMDC)in Xeno-pus embryos activates maternal program of apoptosis as a 'fail-safe'mechanism of early embryogenesis显示文摘In Xenopus, injection of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SAMDC) mRNA into fertilized eggs or 2-cell stage embryos induces massive cell dissociation and embryo-lysis at the early gastrula stage due toactivation of the maternal program of apoptosis. We injected SAMDC mRNA into only one of the animalside blastomeres of embryos at different stages of cleavage, and examined the timing of the onset of theapoptotic reaction. In the injection at 4-and 8-cell stages, a considerable number of embryos developed intotadpoles and in the injection at 16-and 32-cell stages, all the embryos became tadpoles, although tadpolesobtained were sometimes abnormal. However, using GFP as a lineage tracer, we found that descendant cellsof the blastomere injected with SAMDC mRNA at 8-to 32-cell stages are confined within the blastocoel atthe early gastrula stage and undergo apoptotic cell death within the blastocoel, in spite of the continued development of the injected embryos. | 4 | Granular cell tumor of the common bile duct: A Japanese case显示文摘Granular cell tumor (GCT) of the biliary system is rare. It is reported that it occurs more commonly in young black women. We report here our seldom experience of a Japanese case in whom icterus was found as a first symptom just after a caesarean operation. A 36-year-old Japanese woman developed icterus after delivery by the Caesarean operation. A surgical operation was performed without can deny that there was a tumor-related change in a bile duct as a result of examination for various images. As a result of pathological evaluation, GCT was diagnosed. By the preoperative organization biomicroscopy result, it was not able to be attachd a right diagnosis.
