1Discovery of carbonaceous compressions and their multicellular tissues from the Changzhougou Formation (1 800 Ma) in the Yanshan range, North China显示文摘In 1997 and 1998, hundreds of specimens of megascopic carbonaceous compressions or algal fossils were found from - 1800-million-year old Changzhougou Formation, which is the lowermost unit of the latest Palaeoproterozoic Changcheng Group (~1 600-1 800 Ma) in the Xinglong-Kuancheng areas at the middle Yanshan Range, North China. They are discoid, ellipsoid and sausage-like, namely shaped like Chuaria Shouhsiennia (Ellipsophyta) and Tawuia. By adopting HF acid-resistant maceration coupled with scanning electron microscope and petrologic section, the authors made a preliminary research on the histology for some circular and ellipsoid carbonaceous compressions, namely Chuaria- and Shouhsienia-llke forms, in addition to their morphology. The following three types of multicellular tissues have been found in the fragments of them: colony-like, pseudoparenchyma-like and parenchyma-like. 2Detection and characterization of diverse alpha-and betacoronaviruses from bats in China显示文摘Bats have been implicated as important reservoir hosts of alpha- and betacoronaviruses. In this study, diverse coronaviruses(CoVs) were detected in 50 of 951(positive rate 5.3%) intestinal specimens of eight bat species collected in four provinces and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China by pan-coronavirus RT-PCR screening. Based on 400-nt RNA-dependent RNA polymerase(Rd RP) sequence analysis, eight belonged to genus Alphacoronavirus and 42 to Betacoronavirus.Among the 50 positive specimens, thirteen gave rise to CoV full-length Rd RP gene amplification for further sequence comparison, of which three divergent sequences(two from a unreported province) were subjected to full genome sequencing. Two complete genomes of betacoronaviruses(JTMC15 and JPDB144) and one nearly-complete genome of alphacoronavirus(JTAC2) were sequenced and their genomic organization predicted. The present study has identified additional numbers of genetically diverse bat-borne coronaviruses with a wide distribution in China. 3Genome-wide Identification of microRNAs that Respond to Drought Stress in Seedlings of Tertiary Relict Ammopiptanthus mongolicus显示文摘microRNAs(miR NAs) are important post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression in plant abiotic stress responses. Ammopiptanthus mongolicus is a typical evergreen woody xerophyte, which makes it an ideal model system for studying drought tolerance in woody plants. The response of mi RNAs to drought stress is still unknown in this plant. In this research, we obtained 34 695 665 raw reads from two small RNA libraries constructed from control and drought-treated A. mongolicus seedlings by the Illumina deep sequencing technology. Length analysis revealed that reads of 20, 21, and 24 nucleotides accounted for the majority of the small RNAs in the two libraries. Sequence analyses identified 65 conserved mi RNA sequences from 190 members of 31 mi RNA families and 20 potential novel mi RNAs from 17 families that were differentially expressed between the two libraries. The expression patterns of 25 of these mi RNAs were significantly different in the two libraries, but only am-mi R4 a-c was downregulated during drought stress, the other 24 were upregulated. The expression trends determined by the Hi Seq sequencing and by q RT-PCR were similar. Furthermore, 35 target genes for the conserved mi RNA were markedly changed and 52 target genes for the potential novel mi RNAs were predicted and their functions were annotated by computational analysis. 4Elastohydrodynamic lubrication properties and friction behaviors of several ester base stocks显示文摘This paper reports a series of studies on the lubricant properties,elastohydrodynamic film thickness,and coefficients of friction of several commercially available ester base stocks,i.e.,diisooctyl phthalate(DIOP),diisodecyl phthalate(DIDP),diisotridecyl phthalate(DITDP),diisooctyl sebacate(DOS),diisotridecyl sebacate(DTDS),trihydroxymethylpropyl trioleate(TMPTO),and pentaerythritol tetraoleate(PETO).The results include densities and viscosities from 303 to 398 K,and elastohydrodynamic lubricant film thicknesses and friction in the boundary,mixed and full-film lubrication regimes measured at several temperatures,loads,and speeds.These ester base stocks have different lubrication abilities owing to their chain lengths,geometric configurations,and molecular rigidity.This study provides quantitative insight into the use of ester-based lubricants for low friction through the entire lubrication regime(boundary to full film)by utilization of suitable type and size of the ester base stocks.Yifeng HE Thomas J.ZOLPER Pinzhi LIU Yuzhen ZHAO Xingliang HE Xuejin SHEN Hongwei SUN Qinghua DUAN Qian WANG 2015Friction2015,3,3:3

8Regulatory variation within 3’UTR of STAT5A correlates with sudden cardiac death in Chinese populations显示文摘Definitive diagnosis to sudden cardiac death(SCD)is often challenging since the postmortem examination on SCD victims could hardly demonstrate an adequate cause of death.It is therefore important to uncover the inherited risk component to SCD.Signal transducer and activators of transcription 5 A(STAT5A)is a member of the STAT family and a transcription factor that is activated by many cell ligands and associated with various cardiovascular processes.In this study,we performed a systematic variant screening on the STAT5A to filter potential functional genetic variations.Based on the screening results,an insertion/deletion polymorphism(rs3833144)in 3’UTR of STAT5A was selected as the candidate variant.A total of 159 SCD cases and 668 SCD matched healthy controls was enrolled to perform a case-control study and evaluate the association between rs3833144 and SCD susceptibility in Chinese populations.Logistic regression analysis showed that the deletion allele of rs3833144 had significantly increased the SCD risk(odds ratio(OR)=1.54;95%confidence interval(CI)=1.18-2.01;P=0.000955).Further genotype-expression eQTL analysis showed that samples with deletion allele appeared to lower expression of STAT5A,and in silico prediction suggested the local 3 D structure changes of STAT5A mRNA caused by the variant.On the other hand,the bioinformatic analysis presented that promoters of RARA and PTGES3L-AARSD1 could interact with rs3833144,and eQTL analysis showed the higher expression of both genes in samples with deletion allele.Dual-luciferase activity assays also suggested the significant regulatory role of rs3833144 in gene transcription.Our current data thus suggested a possible involvement of rs3833144 to SCD predisposition in Chinese populations and rs3833144 with potential function roles may become a candidate marker for SCD diagnosis and prevention.Huan Yu Yadong Guo Zhenzhen Yang Qing Zhang Jiabin Xu Qi Yang Yiling Qu Rui Tan Lijuan Li Yan He Chengtao Li Suhua Zhang Bin Luo Yuzhen Gao 2022Forensic Sciences Research2022,7,4:0
9Genomic divergence in cotton germplasm related to maturity and heterosis显示文摘Commercial varieties of upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum)have undergone extensive breeding for agronomic traits,such as fiber quality,disease resistance,and yield.Cotton breeding programs have widely used Chinese upland cotton source germplasm(CUCSG)with excellent agronomic traits.A better understanding of the genetic diversity and genomic characteristics of these accessions could accelerate the identification of desirable alleles.Here,we analyzed 10,522 high-quality singlenucleotide polymorphisms(SNP)with the CottonSNP63 K microarray in 137 cotton accessions(including 12 hybrids of upland cotton).These data were used to investigate the genetic diversity,population structure,and genomic characteristics of each population and the contribution of these loci to heterosis.Three subgroups were identified,in agreement with their knownpedigrees,geographical distributions,and times since introduction.For each group,we identified lineagespecific genomic divergence regions,which potentially harbor key alleles that determine the characteristics of each group,such as early maturity-related loci.Investigation of the distribution of heterozygous loci,among 12 commercial cotton hybrids,revealed a potential role for these regions in heterosis.Our study provides insight into the population structure of upland cotton germplasm.Furthermore,the overlap between lineagespecific regions and heterozygous loci,in the high-yield hybrids,suggests a role for these regions in cotton heterosis.Shoupu He Gaofei Sun Longyu Huang Daigang Yang Panhong Dai Dayun Zhou Yuzhen Wu Xiongfeng Ma Xiongming Du Shoujun Wei Jun Peng Meng Kuang 2019Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2019,61,8:0
10Tunable phase transition, band gap and SHG properties by halogen replacement of hybrid perovskites [(thiomorpholinium)PbX_(3), X = Cl,Br,I]显示文摘By the replacement of halogen anion,three new multifunctional organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites(thiomorpholinium)PbX_(3)(X=Cl,Br,I)were successfully synthesized and underwent reversible struc-tural transformation above room temperature,accompanied by the anomalous change of dielectric con-stant.With the adjustment of the halogen anion from Cl to I in the inorganic skeleton,the space group is transformed from centrosymmetric space group P2_(1)/c((thiomorpholinium)PbCl_(3))to chiral one P2_(1)2_(1)2_(1)((thiomorpholinium)PbBr3,(thiomorpholinium)PbI_(3))at room temperature.The ordered-disordered tran-sition of organic cations and the change of hydrogen bonds with the increase of temperature lead to above-room-temperature phase transitions.Ultraviolet absorption and second-harmonic generation(SHG)measurements confirmed that both the band gap and SHG activity of(thiomorpholinium)PbX_(3)(X=Cl,Br,I)crystals were tunable.The band gaps reveal a broadening trend with 3.532 e V,3.410 e V and 3.175 e V along the Cl→Br→I series.This work provides an effective molecular design for multifunctional organic-inorganic perovskites.Simin Liu Lei He Yuzhen Wang Pingping Shi Qiong Ye 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,2:0
11Static analysis of elastic cable structures under mechanical load using discrete catenary theory显示文摘In this paper,the nonlinear mechanical response of elastic cable structures under mechanical load is studied based on the discrete catenary theory.A cable net is discretized into multiple nodes and edges in our numerical approach,which is followed by an analytical formulation of the elastic energy and the associated Hessian matrix to realize the dynamic simulation.A fully implicit framework is proposed based on the discrete differential geometry(DDG)theory.The equilibrium configuration of a target object is derived by adding damping force into the system,known as the dynamic relaxation method.The mechanical response of a single suspended cable is investigated and compared with the analytical solution for cross-validation.A more intricate scenario is further discussed in detail,where a structure consisting of multiple slender cables is connected through joints.Utilizing the robustness and efficiency of our discrete numerical framework,a systematic parameter sweep is performed to quantify the force displacement relationships of nets with the different number of cables and different directions of fibers.Finally,an empirical scaling law is provided to account for the rigidity of elastic cable net in terms of its geometric properties,material characteristics,component numbers,and cable orientations.Our results would provide new insight in revealing the connections between flexible structures and tensegrity structures,and could motivate innovative designs in both mechanical and civil engineered equipment.Weicheng Huang Dongze He Dezhong Tong Yuzhen Chen Xiaonan Huang Longhui Qin Qingguo Fei 2023Fundamental Research2023,3,6:0
12Effect of flue gas recirculation technology on soot and NO formation in the biomass pyrolysis-combustion system显示文摘Pyrolysis of biomass followed by combustion of pyrolytic vapors to replace fossil fuels is an economic low-carbon solution.However,the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and N-containing species in biomass pyrolysis vapors result in the soot and NO emissions.The flue gas recirculation(FGR)technology,having the potential to reduce the soot and NO emissions,was introduced to the biomass pyrolysis-combustion system.In addition,it was numerically studied by simulating the biomass pyrolysis vapors based co-flow diffusion flames with CO_(2)addition.Both the experimental and simulated results showed that the FGR had significant suppression effects on the soot formation.When the FGR ratio(i.e.,CO_(2)addition ratio)increased from 0%to 15%,the experimental and simulated soot volume fraction respectively decreased by 32%and 21%,which verified the models used in this study.The decrease in OH concentration caused by the CO_(2)addition was responsible for the decrease in the decomposition rate of A2(A2+OH=A2–+H_(2)O).Hence,more benzo(ghi)fluoranthene(BGHIF)was generated through A1C_(2)H–+A2→BGHIF+H_(2)+H,leading to the increase in inception rate.The decrease in benzo(a)pyrene(BAPYR)concentration was the major factor in the decrease in soot condensation rate.Moreover,the decrease in the C_(2)H_(2) and OH concentrations was responsible for the decrease in the HACA surface growth rate.Furthermore,the simulated results showed that the NO concentration decreased by 0.4%when the content of CO_(2)was increased by 1 vol.%.The decrease in OH concentration suppressed the NO formation via decreasing reaction rates of N+OH=NO+H and HNO+OH=NO+H_(2)O and enhanced the NO consumption via increasing reaction rate of HO_(2)+NO=NO_(2)+OH.YANG Yu ZHENG Shu HE YuZhen LIU Hao LU Qiang 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,4:0
13Influence of functional polymorphism in MIF promoter on sudden cardiac death in Chinese populations显示文摘Sudden cardiac death(SCD)is defined as an unexpected natural death without any obvious non-cardiac causes that occurs within 1 h with witnessed symptom onset or within 24 h without witnessed symptom onset.Genetic studies conducted during the past decade have markedly illuminated the genetic basis of the cardiac disorders associated with SCD.Macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)is an upstream immunoregulatory cytokine associated with the pathogenesis of many inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.Previous studies have reported that the functional -794(CATT)_(5-8) polymorphism in MIF is unrelated to sudden infant deth syndrome susceptibility.However,there are no reports concerning the association between the polymorphism and adult SCD susceptibility.In the current study,we investigated the association between the-794(CATT)_(5-8) polymorphism and adult SCD susceptibility using 79 adult SCD cases and 313 healthy controls.All samples were analysed using a conventional polymerase chain reaction(PCR)technique.We found that CATT_(6) and 5-6 were the most common allele and genotype in both groups,respectively,while no significant association was found between the-794(CATT)_(5-8) polymorphism and SCD susceptibility.We also summarized the allele frequencies of 794(CATT)_(5-8) in cohorts of healthy people from different countries and found that the allele frequency distributions of the polymorphism in Chinese populations were quite different from that of American and European populations(P=0.005,P=0.0001,respectively),but similar to Japanese populations(P=0.827).In conclusion,this study indicates that the-794(CATT)_(5-8) polymorphism may not be associated with adult SCD susceptibility in Chinese populations.Different allele frequency distributions of the polymorphism in multiple populations may provide a useful reference for further genetic association studies.Zhixia Yin Qing Zhang Wei Zhou Shouyu Wang Chaoqun Wang Yan He Lijuan Li Yuzhen Gao 2017Forensic Sciences Research2017,2,3:0
14Statistical characteristics of spray autoignition of transient kerosene jet in cross flow显示文摘To study statistical characteristics of the random spray autoignition,aviation kerosene was injected transiently into non-vitiated air crossflow in a flow reactor with optical accesses.The operating conditions were relevant to gas turbine combustor:the air crossflow pressure and temperature were in the range of 1.4-1.7 MPa and 830-947 K,respectively,and the jet-tocrossflow momentum flux ratios were 20,50 and 80.Statistical distributions of random ignition delay times with adequate convergence were estimated based on histograms.The dependences of the distributions on reactor pressure,temperature,and jet-to-crossflow momentum flux ratio were studied.The results show that the resulting distributions appear more concentrated with the increase of air temperature or jet-to-crossflow momentum flux ratio.And then the correlations for the mean and standard deviation of the ignition delay time sample data were developed based on the present results.Compared with the correlations of ignition delay time of homogeneous premixed gas-phase kerosene/air mixture reported in the literature,the results show a greater significance pressure dependence and lower temperature sensitivity of the ignition delay time of nonpremixed kerosene spray.Chi ZHANG Chunlong HE Xin XUE Yuzhen LIN Jibao LI Chongchong LIU 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,12:0
