3Study on gastric cancer blood plasma based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy combined with multivariate analysis显示文摘A surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) method combined with multivariate analysis was developed for non-invasive gastric cancer detection. SERS measurements were performed on two groups of blood plasma samples: one group from 32 gastric patients and the other group from 33 healthy volunteers. Tentative assignments of the Raman bands in the measured SERS spectra suggest interesting cancer-specific biomolecular changes, including an increase in the relative amounts of nucleic acid, collagen, phospholipids and phenylalanine and a decrease in the percentage of amino acids and saccharide in the blood plasma of gastric cancer patients as compared with those of healthy subjects. Principal components analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were employed to develop effective diagnostic algorithms for classification of SERS spectra between normal and cancer plasma with high sensitivity (79.5%) and specificity (91%). A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was employed to assess the accuracy of diagnostic algorithms based on PCA-LDA. 4Major advances in studies of the physical geography and living environment of China during the past 70 years and future prospects显示文摘The natural environment provides material essentials for human survival and development. The characteristics,processes, regional differentiation and forcing mechanisms of the elements of the natural environment(e.g. geomorphology,climate, hydrology, soil, etc.) are the main objects of research in physical geography. China has a complex natural environment and huge regional differentiation and therefore it provides outstanding reserach opportunities in physical geography. This review summarizes the most important developments and the main contributions of research in the physical geography and human living environment in China during the past 70 years. The major topics addressed are the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the evolution of its cryosphere, the development of fluvial systems, the acidification of the vast arid region of the Asian interior, variations in the monsoon and westerly climate systems on multiple timescales, the development of lakes and wetlands, the watershed system model, soil erosion, past human-environment interactions, biogeography, and physical geographic zonality. After briefly introducing international research developments, we review the history of research in physical geography in China, focusing on the major achievements and major academic debates, and finally we summarize the status of current research and the future prospects. 5Single-cell transcriptomic atlas of primate cardiopulmonary aging显示文摘Aging is a major risk factor for many diseases,especially in highly prevalent cardiopulmonary comorbidities and infectious diseases including Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19).Resolving cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with aging in higher mammals is therefore urgently needed.Here,we created young and old non-human primate single-nucleus/cell transcriptomic atlases of lung,heart and artery,the top tissues targeted by SARS-CoV-2.Analysis of cell type-specific aging-associated transcriptional changes revealed increased systemic inflammation and compromised virus defense as a hallmark of cardiopulmonary aging.With age,expression of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)was increased in the pulmonary alveolar epithelial barrier,cardiomyocytes,and vascular endothelial cells.We found that interleukin 7(IL7)accumulated in aged cardiopulmonary tissues and induced ACE2 expression in human vascular endothelial cells in an NF-κB-dependent manner.Furthermore,treatment with vitamin C blocked IL7-induced ACE2 expression.Altogether,our findings depict the first transcriptomic atlas of the aged primate cardiopulmonary system and provide vital insights into age-linked susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2,suggesting that geroprotective strategies may reduce COVID-19 severity in the elderly.Shuai Ma Shuhui Sun Jiaming Li Yanling Fan Jing Qu Liang Sun Si Wang Yiyuan Zhang Shanshan Yang Zunpeng Liu Zeming Wu Sheng Zhang Qiaoran Wang Aihua Zheng Shuguang Duo Yang Yu Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte Piu Chan Qi Zhou Moshi Song Weiqi Zhang Guang-Hui Liu 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:10
6Projected Shifts in Kppen Climate Zones over China and Their Temporal Evolution in CMIP5 Multi-Model Simulations显示文摘Previous studies have examined the projected climate types in China by 2100. This study identified the emergence time of climate shifts at a 1?scale over China from 1990 to 2100 and investigated the temporal evolution of K o¨ppen–Geiger climate classifications computed from CMIP5 multi-model outputs. Climate shifts were detected in transition regions(7%–8% of China's land area) by 2010, including rapid replacement of mixed forest(Dwb) by deciduous forest(Dwa) over Northeast China, strong shrinkage of alpine climate type(ET) on the Tibetan Plateau, weak northward expansion of subtropical winterdry climate(Cwa) over Southeast China, and contraction of oceanic climate(Cwb) in Southwest China. Under all future RCP(Representative Concentration Pathway) scenarios, the reduction of Dwb in Northeast China and ET on the Tibetan Plateau was projected to accelerate substantially during 2010–30, and half of the total area occupied by ET in 1990 was projected to be redistributed by 2040. Under the most severe scenario(RCP8.5), sub-polar continental winter dry climate over Northeast China would disappear by 2040–50, ET on the Tibetan Plateau would disappear by 2070, and the climate types in 35.9%and 50.8% of China's land area would change by 2050 and 2100, respectively. 7Diagnostic value of 5 serum biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma with different epidemiological backgrounds:A large-scale,retrospective study显示文摘Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a lethal global disease that requires an accurate diagnosis.We assessed the potential of 5 serum biomarkers(AFP,AFU,GGT-II,GPC3,and HGF)in the diagnosis of HCC.Methods:In this retrospective study,we measured the serum levels of each biomarker using ELISAs in 921 participants,including 298 patients with HCC,154 patients with chronic hepatitis(CH),122 patients with liver cirrhosis(LC),and 347 healthy controls from 3 hospitals.Patients negative for hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody(called'NBNC-HCC')and patients positive for the above indices(called'HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC')were enrolled.The selected diagnostic model was constructed using a training cohort(n=468),and a validation cohort(n=453)was used to validate our results.Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy.Results:Theα-L-fucosidase(AFU)/α-fetoprotein(AFP)combination was best able to distinguish NBNC-HCC[area under the curve:0.986(95%confidence interval:0.958–0.997),sensitivity:92.6%,specificity:98.9%]from healthy controls in the test cohort.For screening populations at risk of developing HCC(CH and LC),the AFP/AFU combination improved the diagnostic specificity for early-stage HCC[area under the curve:0.776(0.712–0.831),sensitivity:52.5%,specificity:91.6%in the test group].In all-stage HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC,AFU was also the best candidate biomarker combined with AFP[area under the curve:0.835(0.784–0.877),sensitivity 69.1%,specificity:87.4%in the test group].All results were verified in the validation group.Conclusions:The AFP/AFU combination could be used to identify NBNC-HCC from healthy controls and hepatitis-related HCC from at-risk patients.Dongming Liu Yi Luo Lu Chen Liwei Chen Duo Zuo Yueguo Li Xiaofang Zhang Jing Wu Qing Xi Guangtao Li Lisha Qi Xiaofen Yue Xiehua Zhang Zhuoyu Sun Ning Zhang Tianqiang Song Wei Lu Hua Guo 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:10
8The origin of Wx^(la) provides new insights into the improvement of grain quality in rice显示文摘Appearance and taste are important factors in rice(Oryza sativa) grain quality. Here, we investigated the taste scores and related eating-quality traits of533 diverse cultivars to assess the relationships between—and genetic basis of—rice taste and eating-quality. A genome-wide association study highlighted the Wx gene as the major factor underlying variation in taste and eating quality. Notably, a novel waxy(Wx) allele, Wx^(la), which combined two mutations from Wx^(b) and Wx^(in), exhibited a unique phenotype. Reduced GBSSI activity conferred Wx^(la) rice with both a transparent appearance and good eating quality. Haplotype analysis revealed that Wx^(la) was derived from intragenic recombination. In fact,the recombination rate at the Wx locus was estimated to be 3.34 kb/c M, which was about 75-fold higher than the genome-wide mean, indicating that intragenic recombination is a major force driving diversity at the Wx locus. Based on our results, we propose a new network for Wx evolution, noting that new Wx alleles could easily be generated by crossing genotypes with different Wx alleles. 9miR164c and miR168a regulate seed vigor in rice^∞显示文摘Micro RNAs(miRNAs)are key regulators of gene expression in many important biological processes of plants.However,few miRNAs have been shown to regulate seed vigor.Here,we conducted microarray assays to analyze miRNA expression levels in seeds of the rice(Oryza sativa L.)cultivar ZR02.Results showed significant differences in the expression of 11 miRNAs between artificially aged and untreated control seeds.Among these,osa-miR164c was transcriptionally upregulated,while osamiR168 a was downregulated in artificially aged seeds;this was verified by quantitative real-time PCR analysis.Under the same aging condition,osa-miR164c overexpression in OE164c transgenic seeds and osa-miR168a silencing in MIM168a transgenic seeds of the rice cultivar Kasalath led to lower germination rates,whereas osa-miR164c silencing Rin MIM164c and osa-miR168a overexpression in OE168a resulted in higher seed germination rates compared with wild-type seeds.Meanwhile,changes in cytomembrane permeability of seeds and in the expression level of osa-miR164c target genes(OsPM27 and OsPSK5)and osamiR168a target genes(OsAGO1 and OsPTR2)under aging conditions coincided with changes in seed vigor induced by osa-miR164c and osa-miR168 a.Thus,genetic manipulation of miRNAs has important implications in the development of crop cultivars with high vigor and extended life span of seeds.Yan Zhou Shiqi Zhou Liping Wang Duo Wu Hailan Cheng Xu Du Dandan Mao Chunlai Zhang Xiaocheng Jiang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,4:7

11Effects of climate change and human activity on lake shrinkage in Gonghe Basin of northeastern Tibetan Plateau during the past 60 years显示文摘Changes in the status of freshwater resources are a topic of major global,regional and local concern.This is especially so in the arid and semi-arid regions of China,where shortage of water resources plays a crucial role in limiting sustainable socioeconomic development,as well as in sustaining natural ecosystems.Recent climate change,as well as the effects of localized human activity,such as the use of water for irrigation agriculture,may have significant effects on the status of the water resources in the region.Here,we report the results of a study of changes in the areas of lakes in Gonghe Basin,northeastern Tibetan Plateau of China,over the last 60 years.The data were acquired from optical satellite images and demonstrate that the total water area of lakes in Gonghe Basin decreased significantly from the 1950 s to 1980 s.The cause is ascribed mainly to human activity including exploitation of farmland,against a background of increasing population;in addition,climatic data for the region demonstrate a minor drying trend during this period as the temperature increased slightly.After the construction of several reservoirs,significant amounts of water were redistributed to promote irrigation agriculture and we conclude that this caused a significant shrinkage of the natural lakes.However,both the area of farmland and the population size remained approximately constant after 1990.We conclude that the variation of the total area of lakes during the second period was mainly controlled by climatic factors(precipitation and temperature).As the regional temperature reached a new high,the area of some of the lakes decreased sharply before finally maintaining a relatively steady state.We emphasize that anthropogenic climate change and human activity have both significantly influenced the status of water resources in the arid and semi-arid regions of China.WU Duo CHEN Fahu LI Kai XIE Yaowen ZHANG Jiawu ZHOU Aifeng 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,4:6

13Solvent-free nanocasting toward universal synthesis of ordered mesoporous transition metal sulfide@N-doped carbon composites for electrochemical applications显示文摘Transition metal sulfides (TMSs) have a wide range of applications owing to their intriguing properties.Significant efforts have been devoted to nanostructuring TMSs to enhance their properties and performance,still there is a high need in general synthesis of TMS nanostructures.Herein,for the first time,a simple solvent free reactive nanocasting approach that integrates solid precursor loading,in-situ sulfuration and carbonization into a single heating step is developed for the universal synthesis of ordered mesoporous TMS@N-doped carbon composites (denoted as OM-TMS@NCs) with methionine (Met) and metal chlorides as the precursors and the mesoporous silica (SBA-15) as the hard template.A series of OM-TMS@NCs with a hexagonal mesostructure,ultra-high surface areas (430-754 m2·g-1),large pore volumes (0.85-1.32 cm3·g-1),and unique TMS stoichiometries,including MoS2,Fe7S8,Co9S8,NiS,Cu7S4 and ZnS,are obtained.Two distinct structure configurations,namely,highly dispersed ultrathin TMS nanosheets within NCs and TMS@NC co-nanowire arrays,can be obtained depending on different metals.The structure evolution of the OM-TMS@NCs over the solvent-free nanocasting process is studied in detail for a deep understanding of the synthesis.As demonstrations,these materials are promising for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction and lithium ion storage with high performances.Jiahui Zhu Zhi Chen Lin Jia Yuqi Lu Xiangru Wei Xiaoning Wang Winston Duo Wu Na Han Yanguang Li Zhangxiong Wu 2019Nano Research2019,12,9:5
14Analysis of severe human adenovirus infection outbreak in Guangdong Province,southern China in 2019显示文摘During 2018–2019,a severe human adenovirus(HAdV)infection outbreak occurred in southern China.Here,we screened 18 respiratory pathogens in 1704 children(≤14 years old)hospitalized with acute respiratory illness in Guangzhou,China,in 2019.In total,151 patients had positive HAdV test results;34.4%(52/151)of them exhibited severe illness.HAdV infection occurred throughout the year,with a peak in summer.The median patient age was 3.0(interquartile range:1.1–5.0)years.Patients with severe HAdV infection exhibited increases in12 clinical indexes(P≤0.019)and decreases in four indexes(P≤0.007),compared with patients exhibiting nonsevere infection.No significant differences were found in age or sex distribution according to HAdV infection severity(P>0.05);however,the distributions of comorbid disease and HAdV co-infection differed according to HAdV infection severity(P<0.05).The main epidemic types were HAdV-3(47.0%,71/151)and HAdV-7(46.4%,70/151).However,the severe illness rate was significantly higher in patients with HAdV-7(51.4%)than in patients with HAdV-3(19.7%)and other types of HAdV(20%)(P<0.001).Sequencing analysis of genomes/capsid genes of 13 HAdV-7 isolates revealed high similarity to previous Chinese isolates.A representative HAdV-7isolate exhibited a similar proliferation curve to the curve described for the epidemic HAdV-3 strain Guangzhou01(accession no.DQ099432)(P>0.05);the HAdV-7 isolate exhibited stronger virulence and infectivity,compared with HAdV-3(P<0.001).Overall,comorbid disease,HAdV co-infection,and high virulence and infectivity of HAdV-7 were critical risk factors for severe HAdV infection;these data can facilitate treatment,control,and prevention of HAdV infection.Wenkuan Liu Shuyan Qiu Li Zhang Hongkai Wu Xingui Tian Xiao Li Duo Xu Jing Dai Shujun Gu Qian Liu Dehui Chen Rong Zhou 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,3:5
15Stress analysis on large-diameter buried gas pipelines under catastrophic landslides显示文摘This paper presents a method for analysis of stress and strain of gas pipelines under the effect of horizontal catastrophic landslides. A soil spring model was used to analyze the nonlinear characteristics concerning the mutual effects between the pipeline and the soil. The Ramberg–Osgood model was used to describe the constitutive relations of pipeline materials. This paper also constructed a finite element analysis model using ABAQUS finite element software and studied the distribution of the maximum stress and strain of the pipeline and the axial stress and strain along the pipeline by referencing some typical accident cases. The calculation results indicated that the maximum stress and strain increased gradually with the displacement of landslide.The limit values of pipeline axial stress strain appeared at the junction of the landslide area and non-landslide area. The stress failure criterion was relatively more conservative than the strain failure criterion. 16Cloning of vacuolar H^+ -ATPase subunit c genes from Japanese iris, and functional characterization in yeast显示文摘Five different isoforms (IrlVHA-c1-c5) of V-ATPase subunit c (VHA-c) were cloned from a Japanese iris (Iris lactea Pall. var. chinensis Fisch. Koidz) cDNA library using degenerate primers PCR and the 5'-RACE technique. The sequence analysis showed the open reading frame (ORF) of the IrlVHA-c1 c5 to be 495 bp, corresponding to a protein of 164 amino acids. Among the five isoforms, IrlVHA-c1 and IrlVHA-c2 are completely homologous. The IrlVHA-c protein is localized at the vacuolar membrane as indicated by a green fluorescent protein (GFP) marker. Its over-expression in yeast could enhance yeast tolerance to NaCl stress. 17Genetic architecture and key genes controlling the diversity of oil composition in rice grains显示文摘Rice grain oil is a valuable nutrient source.However,the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains remains unclear.In this study,we performed a genome-wide association study on oil composition and oil concentration in a diverse panel of 533 cultivated rice accessions.High variation for 11 oil-related traits was observed,and the oil composition of rice grains showed differentiation among the subpopulations.We identified 46 loci that are significantly associated with grain oil concentration or composition,16 of which were detected in three recombinant inbred line populations.Twenty-six candidate genes encoding enzymes involved in oil metabolism were identified from these 46 loci,four of which(PAL6,LIN6,MYR2,and ARA6)were found to contribute to natural variation in oil composition and to show differentiation among the subpopulations.Interestingly,population genetic analyses revealed that specific haplotypes of PAL6 and LIN6 have been selected in japonica rice.Based on these results,we propose a possible oil biosynthetic pathway in rice grains.Collectively,our results provide new insights into the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains and can facilitate marker-based breeding of rice varieties with enhanced oil and grain quality.Hao Zhou Duo Xia Pingbo Li Yiting Ao Xiaodong Xu Shanshan Wan Yanhua Li Bian Wu Huan Shi Kaiyue Wang Guanjun Gao Qinglu Zhang Gongwei Wang Jinghua Xiao Xianghua Li Sibin Yu Xingming Lian Yuqing He 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:4

In most of the existing recommender systems, only the purchase information is utilized data and the navigational and behavioral data are seldom concerned. In this paper, we design a novel recommender system for comprehensive online shopping sites. In the proposed recommender system, the navigational and behavioral data, such as access, click, read, and purchase information of a customer, are utilized to calculate the preference degree to each item; then items with larger preference degrees are recommended to the customer. The proposed method has several innovations and two of them are more remarkable: one is that nonexpendable items are distinguished from expendable ones and handled by a different way; another is that the interest shifting of customers are considered. Lastly, we structure an example to show the operation procedure and the performance of the proposed recommender system.
