3Effects of essential oils on performance,egg quality, nutrient digestibility and yolk fatty acid profile in laying hens显示文摘The study was conducted to investigate the effect of essential oils on performance, egg quality, nutrient digestibility and yolk fatty acid profile in laying hens. A total of 960 Lohmann laying hens aged 53 weeks were enrolled, under 4 different treatment diets supplemented with 0, 50.100 and 150 mg/kg essential oils(Enviva EO, Dupont Nutrition Biosciences ApS, Denmark), respectively. Each treatment was replicated8 times with 30 birds each. Birds were fed dietary treatment diets for 12 weeks(54 to 65 weeks). For data recording and analysis, a 12-week period was divided into 3 periods of 4 weeks' duration each: period 1(54 to 57 weeks), period 2(58 to 61 weeks), and period 3(62 to 65 weeks). For the diet supplemented with Enviva EO, hen-day egg production and the feed conversion ratio(FCR) were significantly improved(P < 0.05) at weeks 58 to 61, and the eggshell thickness was significantly increased(P < 0.05) at week 65.However, egg production, egg weight, feed intake, FCR and other egg quality parameters(albumen height, Haugh unit, egg yolk color and eggshell strength) were not affected by the dietary treatment. In addition, compared with the control diet, protein digestibility in the 100 mg/kg Enviva EO treatment group was significantly increased(P < 0.05), and fat digestibility in the 100 and 150 mg/kg Enviva EO treatment groups was significantly decreased(P < 0.05), but Enviva EO had no effect on energy apparent digestibility. Saturated fatty acid(SFA) and monounsaturated fatty acid(MUFA) gradually decreased and polyunsaturated fatty acid(PUFA) increased with Enviva EO supplementation, but the difference was not significant. 41,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 protects obese rats from metabolic syndrome via promoting regulatory T cell-mediated resolution of inflammation显示文摘Vitamin D_3 has been found to produce therapeutic effects on obesity-associated insulin resistance and dyslipidemia through its potent anti-inflammatory activity, but the precise immunomodulatory mechanism remains poorly understood. In the present study we found that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_3[1,25(OH)_2D_3], the biologically active form of vitamin D_3, significantly attenuated monosodium glutamate(MSG)-induced obesity and insulin resistance as indicated by body weight reduction, oral glucose tolerance improvement, and a glucose infusion rate increase as detected with hyperinsulinemiceuglycemic clamp. Moreover, 1,25(OH)_2D_3 not only restored pancreatic islet functions but also improved lipid metabolism in insulin-targeted tissues. The protective effects of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 on glycolipid metabolism were attributed to its ability to inhibit an obesity-activated inflammatory response in insulin secretory and targeted tissues, as indicated by reduced infiltration of macrophages in pancreas islets and adipose tissue while enhancing the expression of Tgf-β1 in liver tissue, which was accompanied byincreased infiltration of Treg cells in immune organs such as spleen and lymph node as well as in insulintargeted tissues such as liver, adipose, and muscle. 5A biological safety evaluation on reclaimed water reused as scenic water using a bioassay battery显示文摘An assessment method based on three toxicity tests (algae growth inhibition,daphnia immobilization and larval fish toxicity) was used to screen the biological safety of reclaimed water which was reused as sole replenishment for scenic water system in a park (SOF Park) in northern China.A total of 24 water samples were collected from six sites of water system in the SOF Park in four different seasons.The results indicated that:(1) the reclaimed water directly discharged from a reclamation treatment plant near the SOF Park as influent of park had relatively low biological safety (all samples were ranked as C or D);(2) the biological safety of reclaimed water was improved greatly with the ecological reclamation treatment processes composing of artificial wetland system and followed oxidation pond system;(3) the biological safety of reclaimed water in the main lake of SOF Park kept at a health status during different seasons (all samples were ranked as A);(4) there was some certain correlation (R 2=0.5737) between the sum of toxicity scores and dissolved organic carbon for the studied water samples.It was concluded that the assessment method was reliable to screen the safety of reclaimed water reused as scenic water,and the reclaimed water with further ecological purification processes such as artificial wetland and oxidation pond system can be safely reused as scenic water in park.Dongbin Wei Zhuowei Tan Yuguo Du 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10:9
6Efficient degradation of chlorobenzene in a non-thermal plasma catalytic reactor supported on CeO_2/HZSM-5 catalysts显示文摘Chlorobenzene removal was investigated in a non-thermal plasma reactor using CeO_2/HZSM-5catalysts.The performance of catalysts was evaluated in terms of removal and energy efficiency.The decomposition products of chlorobenzene were analyzed.The results show that CeO_2/HZSM-5 exhibited a good catalytic activity,which resulted in enhancements of chlorobenzene removal,energy efficiency,and the formation of lower amounts of by-products.With regards to CO_2 selectivity,the presence of catalysts favors the oxidation of by-products,leading to a higher CO_2 selectivity.With respect to ozone,which is considered as an unavoidable by-product in air plasma reactors,a noticeable decrease in its concentration was observed in the presence of catalysts.Furthermore,the stability of the catalyst was investigated by analyzing the evolution of conversion in time.The experiment results indicated that CeO_2/HZSM-5 catalysts have excellent stability:chlorobenzene conversion only decreased from 78%to 60%after 75 hr,which means that the CeO_2/HZSM-5 suffered a slight deactivation.Some organic compounds and chlorinated intermediates were adsorbed or deposited on the catalysts surface as shown by the results of Fourier Transform Infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy,scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS) analyses of the catalyst before and after the reaction,revealing the cause of catalyst deactivation.Liying Jiang Guofeng Nie Runye Zhu Jiade Wang Jianmeng Chen Yubo Mao Zhuowei Cheng Willam A.Anderson 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,5:8
7Toxicity-based assessment of the treatment performance of wastewater treatment and reclamation processes显示文摘The reclamation and reuse of wastewater is one of the possible ways to relieve the serious fresh water resource crisis in China. Efficient reclamation treatment technologies ensure the safe reuse of reclaimed water. In order to screen out and evaluate technologies appropriate for reclamation treatment, a great deal of efforts have been brought to bear. In the present study, a toxicity-based method including a Photobacterium phosphoreum test for acute toxicity and SOS/umu test for genotoxicity, accompanied by the traditional physicochemical parameters DOC (dissolved organic carbon) and UV 254 (absorbance at 254 nm), was used to measure the treatment performance of different reclamation processes, including the anaerobic-anoxic-oxic biological process (A2O) and subsequent physical/chemical reclamation processes (ultrafiltration, ozonation, chlorination). It was found that for the secondary effluent after the A2O process, both the toxicity and physicochemical indices had greatly decreased compared with those of the influent. However, chemical reclamation processes such as ozonation and chlorination could possibly raise toxicity levels again. Fortunately, the toxicity elevation could be avoided by optimizing the ozone dosage and using activated carbon after ozonation. It was noted that by increasing the ozone dosage to 10 mg/L and employing activated carbon with more than 10 min hydraulic retention time, toxicity elevation was controlled. Furthermore, it was shown that pre-ozonation before activated carbon and chlorination played an important role in removing organic compounds and reducing the toxicity formation potential. 8Development mechanism of internal local corrosion of X80 pipeline steel显示文摘The occurrence and development mechanism of internal local corrosion has always been a controversial topic,and especially under flow conditions.In this paper,an improved high shear force loop was experimentally used,and local flow field is induced by simulating corrosion defects on the surface of X80 pipeline steel specimens.The characteristics of corrosion products deposited on the surface of specimens in CO2-saturated NACE solution were investigated by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS).The 3D micromorphology of the corrosion test surface after remove the corrosion scale used to measure the size of localized corrosion pit.Under the influence of local defects,the wall shear stress(WSS)and turbulent kinetic energy of local flow fields enhanced significantly,and pressure fluctuations in local flow field were induced.The results showed that the characteristics of surface corrosion products varied with flow velocity.The corrosion scales formed in various regions of specimens with defects exhibited different surface micro-morphologies and chemical compositions.Overall,these data offer new perspectives for better understanding the mechanisms behind local corrosion.Zhuowei Tan Liuyang Yang Dalei Zhang Zhenbo Wang Frank Cheng Mingyang Zhang Youhai Jin 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,14:6
9Predicted no-effect concentrations for mercury species and ecological risk assessment for mercury pollution in aquatic environment显示文摘Mercury(Hg) exists in different chemical forms presenting varied toxic potentials. It is necessary to explore an ecological risk assessment method for different mercury species in aquatic environment. The predicted no-effect concentrations(PNECs) for Hg(Ⅱ) and methyl mercury(Me Hg) in the aqueous phase, calculated using the species sensitivity distribution method and the assessment factor method, were 0.39 and 6.5 × 10-3μg/L, respectively. The partition theory of Hg between sediment and aqueous phases was considered, along with PNECs for the aqueous phase to conduct an ecological risk assessment for Hg in the sediment phase. Two case studies, one in China and one in the Western Black Sea, were conducted using these PNECs. 10Improvement in affinity and thermostability of a fully human antibody against interleukin-17A by yeast-display technology and CDR grafting显示文摘Monoclonal antibodies(m Abs) are widely used in many fields due to their high specificity and ability to recognize a broad range of antigens. IL-17 A can induce a rapid inflammatory response both alone and synergistically with other proinflammatory cytokines. Accumulating evidence suggests that therapeutic intervention of IL-17 A signaling offers an attractive treatment option for autoimmune diseases and cancer. Here, we present a combinatorial approach for optimizing the affinity and thermostability of a novel anti-h IL-17 A antibody. From a large na?ve phage-displayed library, we isolated the anti-IL-17 A m Ab 7 H9 that can neutralize the effects of recombinant human IL-17 A. However, the modest neutralization potency and poor thermostability limit its therapeutic applications. In vitro affinity optimization was then used to generate 8 D3 by using yeast-displayed random mutagenesis libraries.This resulted in four key amino acid changes and provided an approximately 15-fold potency increase in a cell-based neutralization assay. Complementarity-determining regions(CDRs) of 8 D3 were further grafted onto the stable framework of the hu Fv 4 D5 to improve thermostability. The resulting hybrid antibody9 NT/S has superior stabilization and affinities beyond its original antibody. Human fibrosarcoma cellbased assays and in vivo analyses in mice indicated that the anti-IL-17 A antibody 9 NT/S efficiently inhibited the secretion of IL-17 A-induced proinflammatory cytokines. 11The potential risk assessment for different arsenic species in the aquatic environment显示文摘The different toxicity characteristics of arsenic species result in discrepant ecological risk.The predicted no-effect concentrations(PNECs) 43.65, 250.18, and 2.00 × 103μg/L were calculated for As(III), As(V), and dimethylarsinic acid in aqueous phase, respectively. With these PNECs, the ecological risk from arsenic species in Pearl River Delta in China and Kwabrafo stream in Ghana was evaluated. It was found that the risk from As(III) and As(V)in the samples from Pearl River Delta was low, while much high in Kwabrafo stream. 12Conversion characteristics and mechanism analysis of gaseous dichloromethane degraded by a VUV light in different reaction media显示文摘The photodegradation of gaseous dichloromethane(DCM) by a vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) light in a spiral reactor was investigated with different reaction media and initial concentrations.Through the combination of direct photolysis,O 3 oxidation and HO· oxidation,DCM was ultimately mineralized into inorganic compounds(such as HCl,CO 2,H 2 O,etc.) in the air with relative humidity(RH) of 75%-85%.During the photodegradation process,some small organic acids(including formic acid,acetic acid) were also detected and the intermediates were more soluble than DCM,providing a possibility for its combination with subsequent biodegradation.Based on the detected intermediates and the confirmed radicals,a photodegradation pathway of DCM by VUV was proposed.With RH 75%-80% air as the reaction medium,the DCM removal followed the second-order kinetic model at inlet concentration of 100-1000 mg/m 3.Kinetic analysis showed that the reaction media affected the kinetic constants of DCM conversion by a large extent,and RH 80% air could cause a much lower half-life for its conversion.Such results supported the possibility that VUV photodegradation could be used not only for the mineralization of DCM but also as a pretreatment before biodegradation.Jianming Yu Wenji Cai Jianmeng Chen Li Feng Yifeng Jiang Zhuowei Cheng 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:4
13Synthesis,characterization,and photocatalytic activity of porous La–N–co-doped TiO_2 nanotubes for gaseous chlorobenzene oxidation显示文摘The photocatalytic oxidation of gaseous chlorobenzene(CB) by the 365 nm-induced photocatalyst La/N–Ti O2, synthesized via a sol–gel and hydrothermal method, was evaluated. Response surface methodology(RSM) was used to model and optimize the conditions for synthesis of the photocatalyst. The optimal photocatalyst was 1.2La/0.5N–Ti O2(0.5) and the effects of La/N on crystalline structure, particle morphology, surface element content, and other structural characteristics were investigated by XRD(X-ray diffraction), TEM(Transmission Electron Microscopy), FTIR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), UV–vis(Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy), and BET(Brunauer Emmett Teller). Greater surface area and smaller particle size were produced with the co-doped Ti O2 nanotubes than with reference Ti O2. The removal of CB was effective when performed using the synthesized photocatalyst,though it was less efficient at higher initial CB concentrations. Various modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic models involving the adsorption of chlorobenzene and water on different active sites were evaluated. Fitting results suggested that competitive adsorption caused by water molecules could not be neglected, especially for environments with high relative humidity. The reaction intermediates found after GC–MS(Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) analysis indicated that most were soluble, low-toxicity, or both. 14Antagonism of toll-like receptor 2 attenuates the formation and progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm显示文摘Abdominal aortic aneurysm(AAA) is an inflammatory vascular disorder with high mortality.Accumulating evidence shows that toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) plays a critical role in the regulation of wound-repairing process after tissue injury.We wondered if TLR2 signaling contributed to the pathogenesis of AAA and that targeting TLR2 would attenuate AAA development and progression.In this study,enhanced expression of TLR2 and its ligands were observed in human AAA tissue.Neutralization of TLR2 protected against AAA development and caused established AAA to regress in mouse models of AAA.In addition,TLR2-deficient mice also failed to develop AAA.The prophylactic and therapeutic effects of blocking TLR2 were accompanied by a significant resolution of inflammation and vascular remodeling,as indicated by the decreased expression or activity of MMP-2/9,α-SMA,inflammatory cytokines,and transcription factors NF-κB,AP-1 and STAT1/3 in AAA tissue.Mechanistically,blocking TLR2 decreased the expression and interaction of TLR2 and several endogenousligands,which diminished chronic inflammation and vascular remodeling in the vascular tissue of AAA.Our studies indicate that the interactions between TLR2 and its endogenous ligands contribute to the pathogenesis of AAA and that targeting TLR2 offers great potential toward the development of therapeutic agents against AAA.Huimin Yan Bing Cui Xiaowei Zhang Xiaoming Fu Jun Yan Xiaoxing Wang Xiaoxi Lv Zhong Chen Zhuowei Hu 2015Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,3:3
15Significance and challenges of stereoselectivity assessing methods in drug metabolism显示文摘Stereoselectivity in drug metabolism can not only influence the pharmacological activities, tolerability,safety, and bioavailability of drugs directly, but also cause different kinds of drug–drug interactions. Thus,assessing stereoselectivity in drug metabolism is of great significance for pharmaceutical research and development(R&D) and rational use in clinic. Although there are various methods available for assessing stereoselectivity in drug metabolism, many of them have shortcomings. The indirect method of chromatographic methods can only be applicable to specific samples with functional groups to be derivatized or form complex with a chiral selector, while the direct method achieved by chiral stationary phases(CSPs) is expensive. As a detector of chromatographic methods, mass spectrometry(MS) is highly sensitive and specific, whereas the matrix interference is still a challenge to overcome. In addition, the use of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and immunoassay in chiral analysis are worth noting. 16Kinetic analysis and bacterium metabolization of α-pinene by a novel identified Pseudomonas sp.strain显示文摘Biodegradation has become a popular alternative remediation technology for its economic and ecological advantages.An aerobic bacterium(strain ZW) capable of degrading α-pinene was isolated from a biofilter by a selective enrichment.Based on the 16S rRNA gene analysis and physiochemical properties,this strain was identified as Pseudomonas veronii.Under the optimized condition achieved by the response surface methodology(RSM),as well as pH 6.82,temperature 26.3℃ and NaCl concentration 1.36%,almost 100% α-pinene could be removed within 45 hr.Enzymatic biodegradation by the crude intracellular enzyme could be described well by the Michaelis-Menten model in which the maximum degradation rate V max and the half-saturation constant K m were calculated to be 0.431 mmol/(L·min) and 0.169 mmol/L,respectively.Activity assay of catechol suggested that the strain ZW possessed a catechol1,2-dioxygenase and could decompose benzene-ring through ortho ring cleavage.Based on the identified intermediates by GC/MS,a new metabolic pathway was proposed,in which the final metabolites were some simpler organic and inorganic compounds.The present work demonstrated that the strain ZW would have a great application prospect for the remediation of α-pinene-contaminated environment.Zhuowei Cheng Pengfei Sun Yifeng Jiang Lili Zhang Jianmeng Chen 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:3
17A nomogram for individualized estimation of survival among adult patients with adrenocortical carcinoma after surgery:a retrospective analysis and multicenter validation study显示文摘Background:Clinical outcome of adrenocortical carcinoma(ACC)varies because of its heterogeneous nature and reliable prognostic prediction model for adult ACC patients is limited.The objective of this study was to develop and externally validate a nomogram for overall survival(OS)prediction in adult patients with ACC after surgery.Methods:Based on the data from the Surveillance Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database,adults patients diagnosed with ACC between January 1988 and December 2015 were identified and classified into a training set,comprised of 404 patients diagnosed between January 2007 and December 2015,and an internal validation set,com-prised of 318 patients diagnosed between January 1988 and December 2006.The endpoint of this study was OS.The nomogram was developed using a multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression algorithm in the training set and its performance was evaluated in terms of its discriminative ability,calibration,and clinical usefulness.The nomogram was then validated using the internal SEER validation,also externally validated using the Cancer Genome Atlas set(TCGA,82 patients diagnosed between 1998 and 2012)and a Chinese multicenter cohort dataset(82 patients diag-nosed between December 2002 and May 2018),respectively.Results:Age at diagnosis,T stage,N stage,and M stage were identified as independent predictors for OS.A nomo-gram incorporating these four predictors was constructed using the training set and demonstrated good calibration and discrimination(C-index 95%confidence interval[CI],0.715[0.679-0.751]),which was validated in the internal validation set(C-index[95%CI],0.672[0.637-0.707]),the TCGA set(C-index[95%CI],0.810[0.732-0.888])and the Chi-nese multicenter set(C-index[95%CI],0.726[0.633-0.819]),respectively.Encouragingly,the nomogram was able to successfully distinguished patients with a high-risk of mortality in all enrolled patients and in the subgroup analyses.Decision curve analysis indicated that the nomogram was clinically useful and applicable.Conclusions:The study presents a nomogram that incorporates clinicopathological predictors,which can accurately predict the OS of adult ACC patients after surgery.This model and the corresponding risk classification system have the potential to guide therapy decisions after surgery.Jianqiu Kong Junjiong Zheng Jinhua Cai Shaoxu Wu Xiayao Diao Weibin Xie Xiong Chen Chenyi Liao Hao Yu Xinxiang Fan Chaowen Huang Zhuowei Liu Wei Chen Qiang Lv Haide Qin Jian Huang Tianxin Lin 2019Cancer Communications2019,39,1:3

19Recent advances in Pb-Sn mixed perovskite solar cells显示文摘Organic-inorganic hybrid lead-tin perovskite solar cells(Pb-Sn PSCs)have attracted much attention because of their advantages of low toxicity,variable bandgap,and feasibility for all-perovskite tandem solar cells,and the current power conversion efficiency(PCE)has exceeded 23%.However,due to the rambunctious crystallization process,easily oxidized Sn(Ⅱ)and inadequate energy level arrangement,there are many defects in perovskite films resulting in serious carrier recombination,which makes PCE still lag Pb-based PSCs.The quality of perovskite films is an important factor affecting the overall device performance.The selection and optimization of transport layers not only determines the interface energy level arrangement but also affects the carrier transport.In this paper,the research progress in improving performance of Pb-Sn PSCs in recent years is reviewed from aspects of perovskite layer and transport layers.The profound understanding of different promotion methods is summarized as well.These results have certain guiding significance for the future development and commercial application of Pb-Sn PSCs.Yanyu Deng Guanhua Ren Danao Han Wenbin Han Zhuowei Li Chunyu Liu Wenbin Guo 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,10:2
20Degradation of dichloromethane by an isolated strain Pandoraea pnomenusa and its performance in a biotrickling filter显示文摘A strain Pandoraea pnomenusa LX-1 that uses dichloromethane(DCM) as sole carbon and energy source has been isolated and identified in our laboratory. The optimum aerobic biodegradation of DCM in batch culture was evaluated by response surface methodology. Maximum biodegradation(5.35 mg/(L·hr)) was achieved under cultivation at 32.8°C, pH 7.3, and 0.66% NaCl. The growth and biodegradation processes were well fitted by Haldane's kinetic model, yielding maximum specific growth and degradation rates of 0.133 hr-1and 0.856 hr-1, respectively. The microorganism efficiently degraded a mixture of DCM and coexisting components(benzene, toluene and chlorobenzene). The carbon recovery(52.80%–94.59%) indicated that the targets were predominantly mineralized and incorporated into cell materials. Electron acceptors increased the DCM biodegradation rate in the following order: mixed > oxygen > iron > sulfate > nitrate. The highest dechlorination rate was 0.365 mg Cl-/(hr·mg biomass), obtained in the presence of mixed electron acceptors. Removal was achieved in a continuous biotrickling filter at 56%–85% efficiency, with a mineralization rate of 75.2%. Molecular biology techniques revealed the predominant strain as P. pnomenusa LX-1. These results clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of strain LX-1 in treating DCM-containing industrial effluents.
