1Tradeoffanalysis of the pork supply and food security under the influence of African swine fever and the COVID-19 outbreak in China显示文摘China is the world’s largest consumer of pork and grains.However,African swine fever(ASF)and the COVID-19 outbreak have greatly impacted the pork supply and food security in China.How can food security and the pork supply be ensured under the dual impacts of COVID-19 and ASF?This is a major problem to be urgently solved by the Chinese government.This study indicated that the main pork production and sales areas in China were separated,which reflected the spatial imbalance between the supply and demand.The total area of suitable selected sites for pig farms in China is 21.5 million ha.If only the areas with levels of high and moderate suitability are considered as potential sites for pig farms,the potential pork production can reach 56.1 million tons in China,which is slightly lower than demand.Due to the impact of the ASF epidemic,the food consumed by pigs has been reduced by 34.7 million tons.However,with increasing pork productivity in the future,the self-sufficiency rate of grains may further decline.On the premise that the quality of people’s life is not affected,the diversification of meat supply channels should be realized in an orderly and sustainable way,which might alleviate the pressure on food supply.This study provides a theoretical reference for the spatiotemporal layout of the swine industry and addresses the issue of food security in China under the influence of ASF and the COVID-19 outbreak.Huizong Yao Chuanfu Zang Xiaoxing Zuo Yuyang Xian Yongquan Lu Yutong Huang Xianbing Li 2022Geography and Sustainability2022,3,1:1
2Chinese Compilation of Physical Activities in healthy adults aged 18-64:Categories and metabolic intensities显示文摘A Chinese Compilation of Physical Activities was compiled to estimate the energy costs of physical activities(PAs)using data on adults aged 18–64.Data were obtained from published articles and laboratory measurements.Databases,including PubMed,Embase,Scopus,Ebsco,Web of Science,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wan Fang Data,National Science and Technology Report Service,Public Health Scientific Data were searched to collect data from inception to January 2022,on energy expenditure associated with PA in the healthy Chinese population.Two reviewers independently screened the literature and extracted,classified,and summarized data.Data were measured for 36 PAs using indirect calorimetry.Detailed descriptions of specific activities and metabolic equivalent values were provided by summarizing 241 physical activities in 13 categories.The first edition of the Chinese Compilation of PAs in Healthy Adults Aged 18–64(CCPA)was created.It provides valuable resources for people who regularly engage in physical exercise,researchers,educators,fitness professionals,and health or commercial sectors to quickly obtain various PA MET intensities.In the future,the energy expenditure of various PAs of different ages within the Chinese population can be measured based on the CCPA.Junqiang Qiu Junchao Yang Mingyue Lu Yuyang Chen Yanping Yang Wei Cao Kun Meng Yan Chen Jun Zhang Chunyan Xu Longyan Yi Xian Guo Yang Wang Xiaolei Liu Yi Yan Hanjun Li Qin Zhuo Wenhua Zhao Lianshi Feng Barbara E.Ainsworth 2022Sports Medicine and Health Science2022,4,3:0
3Anthropogenic footprints are invading global habitats of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins显示文摘As ecologically fragile areas,coastal zones are affected by both anthropogenic activities and climate change.However,the impacts of these factors on large nearshore mammals,such as Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(IPHDs,Sousa chinensis),are poorly understood.Here,modeling revealed that the suitable habitats of IPHDs are affected mainly by the sea surface temperature(SST),and the habitat suitability decreases as the distance to the nearest coastline increases.In addition,anthropogenic activities involving demersal fishing,contamination and shipping have narrowed IPHD habitats and reduced the habitat suitability.We found that climate change will further narrow suitable habitats located farther than 7 km from coastlines and trigger habitat losses in the eastern Taiwan Strait by 2090-2100 under the Representative Concentration Pathway(RCP)8.5 scenario.The projected decreases in habitat suitability and area emphasize the urgency of establishing connected marine protected areas(MPAs)while considering climate change,intergovernmental cooperation,and public involvement.Yongquan Lu Guilin Liu William W.L.Cheung Yuyang Xian Weijia Chen Dandan Yu 2023Geography and Sustainability2023,4,1:0
