Removal of PCDD/Fs and PCBs from flue gas using a pilot gas cleaning system显示文摘A 100 Nm3 /hr capacity pilot scale dual bag filter (DBF) system was tested on the flue gas from an actual hazardous waste incinerator (HWI), the removal efficiency of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) was also studied. The first filter collected most of the fly ash and associated chlorinated organic; then activated carbon (AC) was injected and used to collect phase chlorinated organic from the gas. Concentrations of PCDD/Fs and PCBs after the DBF system were 0.07 and 0.01 ng TEQ/Nm3 , respectively, which were both far below the national emission standard. Comparing with the original single bag filter system, the PCDD/Fs concentration dropped a lot from 0.36 to 0.07 ng TEQ/Nm3 . Increasing AC feeding rate enhanced their collection efficiency, yet reduced the AC utilization efficiency, and it still needs further study to select an appropriate feeding rate in the system. These results will be useful for industrial application and assist in controlling emissions of PCDD/Fs and other persistent organic pollutions from stationary sources in China.Xiaoqing Lin Yuqi Jin Hailong Wu Tong Chen Xiaodong Li Shengyong Lu Xuguang Jiang Jianhua Yan 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,9:5
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic: how countries shouldbuild more resilient health systems for preparedness and response显示文摘Objective: A resilient health system plays a crucial role in pandemic preparedness and response. Althoughthe World Health Organization (WHO) has required all states parties to strengthen core capacities to respondto public health emergencies under the International Health Regulations (2005), the actions of most countriesto combating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has showed that they are not well-prepared. This crosssectionalstudy aimed to examine the health system resilience of selected countries and analyze their strategiesand measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study selected five countries including the Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea (South Korea), the U.K.,and the U.S., based on the severity of the national epidemic, the geographical location, and the developmentlevel. Cumulative number of death cases derived from WHO COVID-19 dashboard was used to measure theseverity of the impact of the pandemic in each country;WHO State Parties Self-Assessment Annual Reporting (SPAR)Scores and Global Health Security (GHS) Index were applied to measure the national health system resilience;and research articles and press materials were summarized to identify the strategies and measures adopted bycountries during response to COVID-19. This study applied the resilient health systems framework to analyzehealth system resilience in the selected countries from five dimensions, including awareness, diversity, selfregulation, integration and adaptation. Results: The SPAR Scores and GHS Index of the four developed countries, Japan, South Korea, the U.K. and theU.S. were above the global and regional averages;the SPAR Scores of Iran were above the global average whilethe GHI Index lain below the global average. In terms of response strategies, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. investedmore health resources in the treatment of severe patients, while South Korea and Iran had adopted a strategyof extensive testing and identification of suspected patients. In terms of specific measures, all the five countriesadopted measures such as restrictions on entry and international travel, closure of schools and industries, lockdown and quarantine. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of implementing these measures varied acrosscountries, based on the response strategies. Conclusion: Although SPAR Scores and GHS Index have evaluated the national core capacities for preparednessand response, the actions to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the fact that most countries stilldo not build resilient health systems in response to public health emergencies. Health system strengtheningand health security efforts should be pursued in tandem, as part of the same mutually reinforcing approach todeveloping resilient health systems.Zhebin Wang Yuqi Duan Yinzi Jin Zhi-Jie Zheng 2020Global Health Journal2020,4,4:4
Lactate dehydrogenases amplify reactive oxygen species in cancer cells in response to oxidative stimuli显示文摘Previous studies demonstrated that superoxide could initiate and amplify LDH-catalyzed hydrogen peroxide production in aqueous phase, but its physiological relevance is unknown. Here we showed that LDHA and LDHB both exhibited hydrogen peroxide-producing activity, which was significantly enhanced by the superoxide generated from the isolated mitochondria from HeLa cells and patients'cholangiocarcinoma specimen. After LDHA or LDHB were knocked out, hydrogen peroxide produced by Hela or 4T1 cancer cells were significantly reduced.Re-expression of LDHA in LDHA-knockout HeLa cells partially restored hydrogen peroxide production. In HeLa and 4T1 cells,LDHA or LDHB knockout or LDH inhibitor FX11 significantly decreased ROS induction by modulators of the mitochondrial electron transfer chain(antimycin, oligomycin, rotenone),hypoxia, and pharmacological ROS inducers piperlogumine(PL)and phenethyl isothiocyanate(PEITC).Moreover, the tumors formed by LDHA or LDHB knockout HeLa or 4T1 cells exhibited a significantly less oxidative state than those formed by control cells.Collectively,we provide a mechanistic understanding of a link between LDH and cellular hydrogen peroxide production or oxidative stress in cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.Hao Wu Yuqi Wang Minfeng Ying Chengmeng Jin Jiangtao Li Xun Hu 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,7:2
Dielectr ic barr ier discharge plasma-assisted modification of g-C_(3)N_(4)/Ag_(2)O/TiO_(2)-NRs composite enhanced photoelectrocatalytic activity显示文摘Dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasma applied as surface treatment technology was employed for the modification of Ag_(2)O and graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))powders.Subsequently,the pretreated powders were sequentially loaded onto TiO_(2)nanorods(TiO_(2)-NRs)via electro-deposition,followed by calcination at N_(2)atmosphere.The results indicated that at the optimal plasma discharge time of 5 min for modification of g-C_(3)N_(4)and Ag_(2)O,photocurrent density of ternary composite was 6 times to bare TiO_(2)-NRs under UV-visible light irradiation.Phenol was degraded by using DBD plasma-modified g-C_(3)N_(4)/Ag_(2)O/TiO_(2)-NRs electrode to analyze the photoelectrocatalytic performance. The removal rate of phenol for g-C_(3)N_(4)-5/Ag_(2)O-5/TiO_(2)-NRs electrode was about 3.07 times to that for TiO_(2)-NRs electrode.During active species scavengers'analysis, superoxide radicals and hydroxyl radicals were the main oxidation active species for pollutants degradation.A possible electron-hole separation and transfer mechanism of ternary composite with high photoelectrocatalytic performance was proposed.Yupei Long Chenchen Yuan Xiaomin Wang Dongyan Jin Hong Zhou Qiongyin Wang Chenyang Lu Yuqi Chen Yanqing Cong Qi Wang Yi Zhang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,6:2

Efficient production of cyclic adenosine monophosphate from adenosine triphosphate by the N-terminal half of adenylate cyclase from Escherichia coli显示文摘In this study,we aimed at developing an efficient biocatalytic process for bio-production of cyclic adenosine monophosphate(c AMP)from adenosine triphosphate(ATP).First, adenylate cyclase from Escherichia coli MG1655(EAC)and Bordetella Pertussis(BAC)were expressed in E.coli BL21(DE3)and comparatively analyzed for their activities. As a result,EAC from E.coli MG1655 exhibited a higher activity. However, amount of EAC were obtained in an insoluble form. Therefore,we expressed the first 446 amino acids of EAC(EAC446)to avoid the inclusion body. The effects of induction temperature, incubation time, and incubation p H were further evaluated to improve the expression of EAC446.Subsequently,the reaction process for the production of c AMP with ATP as a starting material was investigated. As none of c AMP was detected in the whole-cell based biocatalytic process, the reaction catalyzed by the crude enzyme was determined for c AMP production. What's more, the reaction temperature, reaction p H,metal ion additives and substrate concentration was optimized, and the maximum c AMP production of 18.45 g·L^-1was achieved with a yield of 95.4%after bioconversion of 6 h.Chen Ma Jing Wang Xuelin Wang Dandan Mai Yuqi Jin Kequan Chen Xin Wang Pingkai Ouyang 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,8:1

Unveiling the origin of anomalous low-frequency Raman mode in CVD-grown monolayer WS_(2)显示文摘Substrates provide the necessary support for scientific explorations of numerous promising features and exciting potential applications in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). To utilize substrate engineering to alter the properties of 2D TMDs and avoid introducing unwanted adverse effects, various experimental techniques, such as high-frequency Raman spectroscopy, have been used to understand the interactions between 2D TMDs and substrates. However, sample-substrate interaction in 2D TMDs is not yet fully understood due to the lack of systematic studies by techniques that are sensitive to 2D TMD-substrate interaction. This work systematically investigates the interaction between tungsten disulfide (WS_(2)) monolayers and substrates by low-frequency Raman spectroscopy, which is very sensitive to WS_(2)-substrate interaction. Strong coupling with substrates is clearly revealed in chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-grown monolayer WS_(2) by its low-wavenumber interface mode. It is demonstrated that the enhanced sample-substrate interaction leads to tensile strain on monolayer WS_(2), which is induced during the cooling process of CVD growth and could be released for monolayer WS_(2) sample after transfer or fabricated by an annealing-free method such as mechanical exfoliation. These results not only suggest the effectiveness of low-frequency Raman spectroscopy for probing sample-substrate interactions in 2D TMDs, but also provide guidance for the design of high-performance devices with the desired sample-substrate coupling strength based on 2D TMDs.Qian Xiang Xiaofei Yue Yanlong Wang Bin Du Jiajun Chen Shaoqian Zhang Gang Li Chunxiao Cong Ting Yu Qingwei Li Yuqi Jin 2021Nano Research2021,14,11:1

Evolution of tumor microenvironment in colorectal liver metastases under treatment stress显示文摘Dear editor,The tumor microenvironment(TME)heavily impacts disease biology and may influence responses to systemic treatments, and thereby, affects patients’prognosis. In our previous study,we found that immune features could predict prognosis and guide the therapy choices for stage I-III colon cancer[1,2].Increasing evidence shows that therapyinduced TME changes can promote tumor progression, metastasis, and the development of resistance[3,4].However,the TME dynamics in colorectal liver metastases(CRLM)under treatment are still incompletely clear.Na Huang Dongqiang Zeng Xiaoxiang Rong Chunlin Wang Zhenzhen Wu Jian Guo Yuqi Wang Jin Li Jing Li Jiao Wang Siting Zheng Genjie Huang Jianping Bin Yulin Liao Qian Li Xin Yi Wangjun Liao Min Shi 2022Cancer Communications2022,42,5:1
DeceFL:a principled fully decentralized federated learning framework显示文摘Traditional machine learning relies on a centralized data pipeline for model training in various applications;however, data are inherently fragmented.Such a decentralized nature of databases presents the serious challenge for collaboration:sending all decentralized datasets to a central server raises serious privacy concerns.Although there has been a joint effort in tackling such a critical issue by proposing privacy-preserving machine learning frameworks, such as federated learning, most state-of-the-art frameworks are built still in a centralized way,in which a central client is needed for collecting and distributing model information(instead of data itself)from every other client, leading to high communication burden and high vulnerability when there exists a failure at or an attack on the central client. Here we propose a principled decentralized federated learning algorithm(DeceFL),which does not require a central client and relies only on local information transmission between clients and their neighbors, representing a fully decentralized learning framework. It has been further proven that every client reaches the global minimum with zero performance gap and achieves the same convergence rate O(1=T)(where T is the number of iterations in gradient descent)as centralized federated learning when the loss function is smooth and strongly convex. Finally, the proposed algorithm has been applied to a number of applications to illustrate its effectiveness for both convex and nonconvex loss functions,time-invariant and time-varying topologies,as well as IID and Non-IID of datasets, demonstrating its applicability to a wide range of real-world medical and industrial applications.Ye Yuan Jun Liu Dou Jin Zuogong Yue Tao Yang Ruijuan Chen Maolin Wang Chuan Sun Lei Xu Feng Hua Yuqi Guo Xiuchuan Tang Xin He Xinlei Yi Dong Li Guanghui Wen Wenwu Yu Hai-Tao Zhang Tianyou Chai Shaochun Sui Han Ding 2023National Science Open2023,2,1:1
