1Beneficial effects of Houttuynia cordata polysaccharides on “two-hit” acute lung injury and endotoxic fever in rats associated with anti-complementary activities显示文摘Houttuynia cordata Thunb. is a traditional herb used for clearing heat and eliminating toxins,and has also been used for the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS). In vitro, the crude H. cordata polysaccharides(CHCP) exhibited potent anti-complementary activity through both the classical and alternative pathways by acting on components C3 and C4 of the complement system without interfering with the coagulation system. This study was to investigate the preventive effects of CHCP on acute lung injury(ALI) induced by hemorrhagic shock plus lipopolysaccharide(LPS) instillation(two-hit)and LPS-induced fever in rats. CHCP significantly attenuated pulmonary injury in the 'two-hit' ALI model by reducing pulmonary edema and protein exudation in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF). In addition, it reduced the deposit of complement activation products in the lung and improved oxidantantioxidant imbalance. Moreover, CHCP administration inhibited fever in rats, reduced the number of leukocytes and restored serum complement levels. The inhibition on the inappropriate activation of complement system by CHCP may play an important role in its beneficial effects on inflammatory diseases. 2Effects of salidroside on glioma formation and growth inhibition together with improvement of tumor microenvironment显示文摘Objective:To test the effects of salidroside on formation and growth of glioma together with tumor microenvironment.Methods:Salidroside extracted from Rhodiola rosea was purified and treated on human glioma cells U251 at the concentration of 20μg/mL.3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-dephenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay for cytotoxicity and flow cytometry(FCM)for cell cycle analysis were performed.Then for in vivo study,xenotransplantation tumor model in nude mice was generated and treated with salidroside at the concentration of 50 mg/kg.d for totally 20 d.Body weight and tumor size were detected every 2 d after the treatment.The levels of 8-isoprostane,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA),special markers for oxidative stress,were detected while immunofluoresence staining was performed for astrocyte detection.Results:For in vitro study,salidroside could decrease the viability of human glioma cells U251 and the growth of U251 cells at G0/G1checkpoint during the cell cycle.For in vivo study,salidroside could also inhibit the growth of human glioma tissue in nude mice.The body weight of these nude mice treated with salidroside did not decrease as quickly as control group.In the tumor xenotransplantation nude mice model,mice were found of inhibition of oxidative stress by detection of biomarkers.Furthermore,overgrowth of astrocytes due to the stimulation of oxidative stress in the cortex of brain was inhibited after the treatment of salidroside.Conclusions:Salidroside could inhibit the formation and growth of glioma both in vivo and in vitro and improve the tumor microenvironment via inhibition of oxidative stress and astrocytes.Yanshan Zhang Yunyi Yao Huijuan Wang Yanqin Guo Hui Zhang Liang Chen 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,5:14

7Action mechanisms of a new erythrocyte-derived depressing factor显示文摘To investigate the action mechanisms of a new erythrocyte-derived depressing factor(EDDF), the focus is placed on the effect of EDDF on both cytosolic and nuclear free calcium (Ca2+) transportation in vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC), as well as the apoptosis and cell cycle of VSMC of rats. EDDF has been extracted from human erythrocytes. The changes of Ca2+ levels in cytoplasm ([Ca2+],) and nucleus ([Ca2+]n) have been observed using a laser scanning confocal microscope together with fluo-3/AM as a calcium indicator. Flow cytometric technique was used to study the effect of EDDF on cell cycle and apoptosis of VSMC. [Ca2+]j and [Ca2+]n were significantly decreased through several different pathways: ( i) it reduced the Ca2+ influx by blocking L-type voltage-dependent calcium channel (L-VDC) and R-type voltage-dependent calcium channel (R-VDC); (ii) it inhibited the Ca2+ release from inositol 1, 4, 5-trisphosphate (IP3) sensitive calcium store; and (iii) activated Ca2+-ATPase of sarcoplasmic reticulum (Yunyi Wen Xiaochun Zhang Xiaorong Xu Guiqing Zhao Fang Wan 2000Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,23:4
8Fabrication of niobium doped titanate nanoflakes with enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity for efficient ibuprofen degradation显示文摘In this study,a novel class of niobium(Nb) doped titanate nanoflakes(TNFs) are fabricated through a onestep hydrothermal method.Nb doping affects the curving of titanate nanosheet,leading to the formation of nanoflake structure.In addition,Nb5+ filled in the interlayers of [TiO6] alters the light adsorption property of pristine titanate.The band gap of Nb-TNFs is narrowed to 2.85 eV,while neat titanate nano tubes(TNTs) is 3.4 eV.The enhanced visible light adsorption significantly enhances the visible-lightdriven activity of Nb-TNFs for ibuprofen(IBP) degradation.The pseudo-first order kinetics constant for Nb-TNFs is calculated to be 1.04 h^-1,while no obvious removal is observed for TNTs.Photo-generated holes(h^+) and hydroxyl radicals(·OH) are responsible for IBP degradation.The photocatalytic activity of Nb-TNFs depends on pH condition,and the optimal pH value is found to be 5.In addition,Nb-TNFs exhibited superior photo-stability during the reuse cycles.The results demonstrated Nb-TNFs are very promising in photocatalytic water purification.Wen Liu Wei Zhang Mushi Liu Penghui Du Chenyuan Dang Jialiang Liang Yunyi Li 2019Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12:3

11Catalytic Hydrogenation of Acetic Acid to Acetaldehyde: Synergistic Effect of Bifunctional Co/Ce-Fe Oxide Solid Solution Catalysts显示文摘The large-scale industrial production of acetic acid (HAc) from carbonylation of methanol has enabled intense research interest from direct hydrogenation of HAc to acetaldehyde (AA).Herein,a series of cerium-iron oxide solid solution supported metallic cobalt catalysts were prepared by modified sol-gel method and were applied in gas-phase hydrogenation of HAc to AA.A synergistic effect between the hydrogenation metal cobalt and Ce-Fe oxide solid solution is revealed.Specifically,oxygen vacancies provide the active sites for adsorption of HAc,while highly uniformly dispersed metallic Co adsorbs H2 and activates the reduction of HAc into AA.Moreover,the metallic Co can also assist the cyclical conversion between Fe3+/Fe2+ and Ce3+/Ce4+ on the surface of Ce1.xFexO2-δ supports.The unique effect substantially enhances the ability of the support material to rapidly capture oxygen atoms from HAc.It is found that the catalyst of 5% Co/Ce0.8Fe0.2O2-δ with the highest concentration of oxygen vacancy presents the best catalytic performance (i.e.acetaldehyde yield reaches 49.9%) under the optimal reaction conditions (i.e.623 K and H2 flow rate =10 mL/min).This work indicates that the Co/Ce-Fe oxide solid solution catalyst can be potentially used for the selective hydrogenation from HAc to AA.The synergy between the metallic Co and Ce1-xFexO2-δ revealed can be extended to the design of other composite catalysts.Naixu Li Qi Zhang Rehana Bibi Quanhao Shen Richard Ngulube Yunyi Liu Jiancheng Zhou 2019Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,7:2

14Development of a C3c-based ELISA method for the determination of anti-complementary potency of Bupleurum polysaccharides显示文摘Traditionally, determination of inhibitory potency of complement inhibitors is performed by the hemolytic assay. However, this assay is not applicable to the lectin pathway, thus impeding the understanding of complement inhibitors against the overall function of the complement system. The main objective of our study was to develop a specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) as an alternative method to assess the anti-complement activity, particularly against the lectin pathway. By using respective coating substrates against different activation pathways, followed by capturing the stable C3c fragments, our ELISA method can be used to screen complement inhibitors against the classical pathway and the lectin pathway. The inhibitory effect of suramin on the classical pathway, as measured by our hemolytic assay is consistent with previous reports. Further assessment of suramin and Bupleurum polysaccharides against the lectin pathway showed a good reproducibility of the method. Comparison of the lectin pathway IC50 between Bupleurum smithii var. parvifolium polysaccharides(1.055 mg/mL) and Bupleurum chinense polysaccharides(0.98 mg/mL) showed that, similar to the classical and alterative pathway, these two Bupleurum polysaccharides had comparable anti-complementary properties against the lectin pathway. 16Low-field NMR micro coils based on printed circuit board technology显示文摘Radiofrequency coil is one of the most important components for a nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)instrument.In this article,some planar micro coils with an inner diameter of 2 mm and number of turns that varied from 1 to 11 were investigated based on the printed circuit board(PCB)technology.The electrical characterization of micro coils show that self-resonant frequencies are larger than 200 MHz.Then,an NMR measurement platform with a static magnetic field of 0.66 T was constructed and the signal to noise ratio(SNR)values of the NMR were analyzed.It was found that the SNR is optimal when the turn number of the micro coils is six and the excitation time of a 90°pulse is 0.8?s.Finally,we used the micro coil with six turns to study the transverse relaxation rate of copper sulfate pentahydrate aqueous solution with different concentrations.It was found that the transverse relaxation rate is proportional to the solution concentration.Results from the micro coil were verified by measurements using a Bruker Minispec MQ60.WU WeiPing LU RongSheng ZHOU XinLong ZHANG YunYi NI ZhongHua 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,10:1
