1Temporal and spatial variations of the active layer along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway in a permafrost region显示文摘Using monitored active layer thickness(ALT) and environmental variables of 10 observation fields along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway in permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP),a model for ALT estimation was developed.The temporal and spatial characteristics of the ALT were also analyzed.The results showed that in the past 30 years ALT in the study region increased at a rate of 1.33 cm a-1.Temperatures at the upper limit of permafrost and at 50 cm depth,along with soil cumulative temperature at 5 cm depth also exhibited a rising trend.Soil heat flux increased at a rate of 0.1 Wm-2 a-1.All the above changes demonstrated that the degradation of permafrost happened in the study region on the QTP.The initial thawing date of active layer was advanced,while the initial freezing date was delayed.The number of thawing days increased to a rate of 1.18 da-1.The variations of active layer were closely related to the permafrost type,altitude,underlying surface type and soil composition.The variations were more evident in cold permafrost region than in warm permafrost region,in high-altitude region than in low-altitude region,in alpine meadow region than in alpine steppe region;and in fine-grained soil region than in coarse-grained soil region.LI Ren ZHAO Lin DING YongJian WU TongHua XIAO Yao DU ErJi LIU GuangYue QIAO YongPing 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,35:51
2Development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing System for Accelerating Maize Breeding显示文摘Crop breeding aims to generate pure in bred lines with multiple desired traits. Doubled haploid (DH) and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 are two powerful game-changing technologies in crop breeding. However, both of them still fall short for rapid generation of pure elite lines with integrated favorable traits. Here, we report the development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing (IMGE) approach, which utilizes a maize haploid inducer line carrying a CRISPR/Cas9 cassette targeting for a desired agronomic trait to pollinate an elite maize in bred line and to generate genome-edited haploids in the elite maize background. 4Fast cross validation for regularized extreme learning machine显示文摘A method for fast l-fold cross validation is proposed for the regularized extreme learning machine(RELM). The computational time of fast l-fold cross validation increases as the fold number decreases, which is opposite to that of naive l-fold cross validation. As opposed to naive l-fold cross validation, fast l-fold cross validation takes the advantage in terms of computational time, especially for the large fold number such as l > 20. 5FHY3 and FAR1 Integrate Light Signals with the miR156-SPL Module-Mediated Aging Pathway to Regulate Arabidopsis Flowering显示文摘In response to competition for light from their neighbors,shade-intolerant plants flower precociously to ensure reproductive success and survival.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying this key developmental switch are not well understood.Here,we show that a pair of Arabidopsis transcription factors essential for phytochrome A signaling,FAR-RED ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL3(FHY3)and FAR-RED IMPAIRED RESPONSE1(FAR1),regulate flowering time by integrating environmental light signals with the miR156-SPL module-mediated aging pathway.We found that FHY3 and FAR1 directly interact with three flowering-promoting SQUAMOSA-PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-LIKE(SPL)transcription factors,SPL3,SPL4,and SPL5,and inhibit their binding to the promoters of several key flowering regulatory genes,including FRUITFUL(FUL),LEAFY(LFY),APETALA1(AP1),and MIR172C,thus downregulating their transcript levels and delaying flowering.Under simulated shade conditions,levels of SPL3/4/5 proteins increase,whereas levels of FHY3 and FAR1 proteins decline,thus releasing SPL3/4/5 from FHY3/FAR1 inhibition to allow activation of FUL,LFY,AP1,and MIR172C and,consequently,early flowering.Taken together,these results unravel a novel mechanism whereby plants regulate flowering time by integrating environmental cues(such as light conditions)and an internal developmental program(the miR156-SPL module-mediated aging pathway).Yurong Xie Qin Zhou Yongping Zhao Quanquan Li Yang Liu Mengdi Ma Baobao Wang Rongxin Shen Zhigang Zheng Haiyang Wang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,3:8

7Reduning injection for fever, rash, and ulcers in children with mild hand, foot, and mouth disease: a randomized controlled clinical study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Reduning injection for fever, rash, and ulcers in children with mild hand, foot, and mouth disease(HFMD). METHODS: A stratified-block randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled, and multicenter clinical trial was conducted with 360 patients in five hospitals across China: Quanzhou Children's Hospital, Shijiazhuang No. 5 Hospital, Shanghai Public Health Centre, Hunan Provincial Children's Hospital, and Kaifeng Children's Hospital. Patients were randomized into three groups with 120 in each. Group A was treated with Western Medicine, group B with Reduning injection, a Chinese herbal medicine, and group C with both Reduning injection and Western Medicine. Results were compared for treatment efficacy and safety on HFMD. The clinical outcomes were observed as follows: fever and onset time of antifebrile effect(time to bring the body temperature down ≥0.5℃ after medication); cumulative time for fever recovery(body temperature recovering to normal and lasting more than 24 h without medication); cumulative time for rash disappearance(without new rashes or ulcers appearing and the original ones fading away); and cumulative time for mouth ulcer disappearance. RESULTS: For the onset time of the antifebrile effect, there was no statistical difference between groups A and B(P>0.05) and groups B and C(P> 0.05). However, there was a statistical difference between groups A and C(P<0.05), and the effect in group C was the best. For the cumulative time for rash disappearance, there was no statistical difference between groups A and B(P>0.05). There were statistical differences between groups A and C, and groups B and C(P<0.05), and the effect in group C was the best. For the cumulative time for mouth ulcers disappearance, there were no statistical differences among the three groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Reduning injection with Western Medicine for symptomatic treatment is most effective for mild HFMD. 8Modeling permafrost properties in the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau显示文摘Water and heat dynamics in the active layer at a monitoring site in the Tanggula Mountains, located in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau(QXP), were studied using the physical-process-based COUPMODEL model, including the interaction between soil temperature and moisture under freeze-thaw cycles. Meteorological, ground temperature and moisture data from different depths within the active layer were used to calibrate and validate the model. The results indicate that the calibrated model satisfactorily simulates the soil temperatures from the top to the bottom of the soil layers as well as the moisture content of the active layer in permafrost regions. The simulated soil heat flux at depths of 0 to 20 cm was consistent with the monitoring data, and the simulations of the radiation balance components were reasonable. Energy consumed for phase change was estimated from the simulated ice content during the freeze/thaw processes from 2007 to 2008. Using this model, the active layer thickness and the energy consumed for phase change were predicted for future climate warming scenarios. The model predicts an increase of the active layer thickness from the current 330 cm to approximately 350–390 cm as a result of a 1–2°C warming. However, the effect active layer thickness of more precipitation is limited when the precipitation is increased by 20%–50%. 9Bushen Yisui Capsule ameliorates axonal injury in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis显示文摘A preliminary clinical study by our group demonstrated Bushen Yisui Capsule(formerly called Erhuang Formula)in combination with conventional therapy is an effective prescription for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.However,its effect on axonal injury during early multiple sclerosis remains unclear.In this study,a MOG35–55-immunized C57BL/6 mouse model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis was intragastrically administered Bushen Yisui Capsule.The results showed that Bushen Yisui Capsule effectively improved clinical symptoms and neurological function of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.In addition,amyloid precursor protein expression was down-regulated and microtubule-associated protein 2 was up-regulated.Experimental findings indicate that the disease-preventive mechanism of Bushen Yisui Capsule in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis was mediated by amelioration of axonal damage and promotion of regeneration.But the effects of the high-dose Bushen Yisui Capsule group was not better than that of the medium-dose and low-dose Bushen Yisui Capsule group in preventing neurological dysfunction.Ling Fang Qi Zheng Tao Yang Hui Zhao Qiuxia Zhang Kangning Li Li Zhou Haiyang Gong Yongping Fan Lei Wang 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,35:6

12Modeling Hydrothermal Transfer Processes in Permafrost Regions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China显示文摘Hydrothermal processes are key components in permafrost dynamics; these processes are integral to global warming. In this study the coupled heat and mass transfer model for(Coup Model) the soil-plant-atmosphere-system is applied in high-altitude permafrost regions and to model hydrothermal transfer processes in freeze-thaw cycles. Measured meteorological forcing and soil and vegetation properties are used in the Coup Model for the period from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2012 at the Tanggula observation site in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. A 24-h time step is used in the model simulation. The results show that the simulated soil temperature and water content, as well as the frozen depth compare well with the measured data. The coefficient of determination(R2) is 0.97 for the mean soil temperature and 0.73 for the mean soil water content, respectively. The simulated soil heat flux at a depth of 0–20 cm is also consistent with the monitored data. An analysis is performed on the simulated hydrothermal transfer processes from the deep soil layer to the upper one during the freezing and thawing period. At the beginning of the freezing period, the water in the deep soil layer moves upward to the freezing front and releases heat during the freezing process. When the soil layer is completely frozen, there are no vertical water exchanges between the soil layers, and the heat exchange process is controlled by the vertical soil temperature gradient. During the thawing period, the downward heat process becomes more active due to increased incoming shortwave radiation at the ground surface. The melt water is quickly dissolved in the soil, and the soil water movement only changes in the shallow soil layer. Subsequently, the model was used to provide an evaluation of the potential response of the active layer to different scenarios of initial water content and climate warming at the Tanggula site. 13An analytical model for estimating soil temperature profiles on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China显示文摘Soil temperature is a key variable in the control of underground hydro-thermal processes. To estimate soil temperature more accurately, this study proposed a solution method of the heat conduction equation of soil temperature(improved heat conduction model) by applying boundary conditions that incorporate the annual and diurnal variations of soil surface temperature and the temporal variation of daily temperature amplitude, as well as the temperature difference between two soil layers in the Tanggula observation site of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China. We employed both the improved heat conduction model and the classical heat conduction model to fit soil temperature by using the 5 cm soil layer as the upper boundary for soil depth. The results indicated that the daily soil temperature amplitude can be better described by the sinusoidal function in the improved model, which then yielded more accurate soil temperature simulating effect at the depth of 5 cm. The simulated soil temperature values generated by the improved model and classical heat conduction model were then compared to the observed soil temperature values at different soil depths. Statistical analyses of the root mean square error(RMSE), the normalized standard error(NSEE) and the bias demonstrated that the improved model showed higher accuracy, and the average values of RMSE, bias and NSEE at the soil depth of 10–105 cm were 1.41°C, 1.15°C and 22.40%, respectively. 15Efficacy and Safety of Yanggan Jian in Hepatitis B Virusrelated Decompensated Cirrhosis:A Randomized,Doubleblind,Controlled Trial显示文摘Background and Aims:The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Yanggan Jian(YGJ)in HBV-infected patients with decompensated cirrhosis.Methods:This randomized,double-blind controlled trial enrolled 160 patients with HBV-related decompensated cirrhosis who were already receiving or about to start antiviral therapy.Patients were randomly assigned to receive YGJ or placebo for 24 weeks,and were followed-up to 36 weeks.The primary outcome was the proportion of patients with a≥2 point reduction in Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP)score from baseline at week 24.Secondary outcomes were CTP class and score,serum liver function indices,mortality,incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma and variceal bleeding.Results:The proportion of patients with a CTP score reduction≥2 was significantly greater in the YGJ than in the placebo group(p=0.009);the percentage of patients with CTP class C was significantly less than that in the placebo group(p<0.05),and the YGJ group had a significantly greater mean change from baseline in CTP score at week 24(p=0.034).The improvement in measured values and change from baseline of prothrombin time,serum albumin,platelets,cholinesterase,international normalized ratio,and activated partial thromboplastin time were significantly better with YGJ than with placebo.Between-group differences in cumulative rates of variceal bleeding,hepatocellular carcinoma,death,or the frequency of any adverse event(AE),AEs related to treatment,or discontinuation because of AEs were not significant.Conclusions:YGJ significantly improved CTP scores and hepatic synthetic and reserve function in patients with HBV-related decompensated cirrhosis,and was safe and well tolerated.Long Chen Chaoqun Zhao Weili Yao Wei Liu Hua Zhang Yongping Mu Hong Cai Dongying Xue Chengbao Wang Wan’e Wang Yuehong Lin Jiamei Chen Ping Liu 2023Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1:3
16Soil Respiration of Biologically-Crusted Soils in Response to Simulated Precipitation Pulses in the Tengger Desert, Northern China显示文摘Soil respiration(SR) is a major process of carbon loss from dryland soils, and it is closely linked to precipitation which often occurs as a discrete episodic event. However, knowledge on the dynamic patterns of SR of biologically-crusted soils in response to precipitation pulses remains limited. In this study, we investigated CO_2 emissions from a moss-crusted soil(MCS) and a cyanobacterialichen-crusted soil(CLCS) after 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 mm precipitation during the dry season in the Tengger Desert, northern China.Results showed that 2 h after precipitation, the SR rates of both MCS and CLCS increased up to 18-fold compared with those before rewetting, and then gradually declined to background levels; the decrease was faster at lower precipitation amount and slower at higher precipitation amount. The peak and average SR rates over the first 2 h in MCS increased with increasing precipitation amount, but did not vary in CLCS. Total CO_2 emission during the experiment(72 h) ranged from 1.35 to 5.67 g C m-2 in MCS, and from 1.11 to3.19 g Cm^(-2) in CLCS. Peak and average SR rates, as well as total carbon loss, were greater in MCS than in CLCS. Soil respiration rates of both MCS and CLCS were logarithmically correlated with gravimetric soil water content. 17Poor outcomes of immunoglobulin D multiple myeloma patients in the era of novel agents:a single-center experience显示文摘Dear Editor, Multiple myeloma (MM) is a disease characterized by the clonal expansion of malignant plasma cells in the marrow, leading to anemia, hypercalcemia, bone lesion, and renal dysfunction [1]. Immunoglobulin D (IgD) myeloma is a rare subtype of MM, accounting for approximately 1% to 2% of all MM patients [2]. 18Effects of Surface-Active Elements Sulfur on Flow Patterns of Welding Pool显示文摘A 3D mathematical model is developed to calculate the temperature and velocity distributions in a moving gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding pool with different sulfur concentrations. It has been shown that, the weld penetration increases sharply with increasing sulfur content. When sulfur content increases beyond 80×10-6, the increase in sulfur content does not have an appreciable difference on the welding pool size and shape, and the depth/width remains constant. Sulfur changes the temperature dependence of surface tension coefficient from a negative value to a positive value and causes significant changes on flow patterns. The increase in soluble sulfur content and the decrease at free surface temperature can extend the region of positive surface tension coefficient. As sulfur content exceeds 125×10-6, the sign of surface tension coefficient is positive. Depending upon the sulfur concentrations,three, one or two vortexes that have different positions, strength and directions may be found in the welding pool.The contrary vortexes can efficiently transfer the thermal energy from the arc, creating a deep welding pool. 20All in one theranostic nanoplatform enables efficient anti-tumor peptide I delivery for triple-modal imaging guided cancer therapy显示文摘Developing a reliable system to efficiently and safely deliver peptide drugs into tumor tissues still remains a great challenge since the instability of peptide drugs and low ability to traverse the cell membrane. Herein, we constructed a multifunctional nanoplatform based on porous europium/gadolinium (Eu/Gd)-doped NaLa(MoO4)2 nanoparticles (NLM NPs) to deliver antitumor peptide of B-cell lymphoma/leukemia-2-like protein 11 (BIM) for cancer therapy. The porous NLM NPs exhibited inherent photoluminescent, magnetic and X-ray absorbable properties, which enable them for triple-modal bioimaging, including fluorescence, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). This triple-modal bioimaging can contribute to monitoring NLM NPs biodistribution and guiding therapy in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the NLM NPs showed negligible cytotoxicity in vitro and tissue toxicity in vivo. Importantly, NLM NPs could load the antitumor peptide of BIM and efficiently improve the resistance of peptide drugs to proteolysis. The BIM peptide was efficiently delivered into the tumor cells by NLM NPs, which can inhibit the growth and promote the apoptosis of cancer cells in vitro, significantly inhibit the tumor growth in vivo. Notably, NLM-BIM theranostic nanoplatform exhibits low systemic toxicity and fewer side effects in vivo.
