The China Alzheimer Report 2022显示文摘China’s population has rapidly aged over the recent decades of social and economic development as neurodegenerative disorders have proliferated, especially Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and related dementias(ADRD).AD’s incidence rate, morbidity, and mortality have steadily increased to make it presently the fifth leading cause of death among urban and rural residents in China and magnify the resulting financial burdens on individuals, families and society. The‘Healthy China Action’plan of 2019-2030 promotes the transition from disease treatment to health maintenance for this expanding population with ADRD.This report describes related epidemiological trends, evaluates the economic burden of the disease, outlines current clinical diagnosis and treatment status and delineates existing available public health resources.More specifically,it examines the public health impact of ADRD,including prevalence, mortality, costs, usage of care, and the overall effect on caregivers and society. In addition, this special report presents technical guidance and supports for the prevention and treatment of AD,provides expertise to guide relevant governmental healthcare policy development and suggests an information platform for international exchange and cooperation.Rujing Ren Jinlei Qi Shaohui Lin Xinya Liu Peng Yin Zhihui Wang Ran Tang Jintao Wang Qiang Huang Jianping Li Xinyi Xie Yongbo Hu Shishuang Cui Yuan Zhu Xiaoping Yu Pengfei Wang Yikang Zhu Yiran Wang Yanyan Huang Yisong Hu Ying Wang Chunbo Li Maigeng Zhou Gang Wang 2022General Psychiatry2022,35,1:20
Prostate cancer in Asia:A collaborative report显示文摘The incidence of prostate cancer(PCa)within Asian population used to be much lower than in the Western population;however,in recent years the incidence and mortality rate of PCa in some Asian countries have grown rapidly. This collaborative report summarized the latest epidemiology information, risk factors, and racial differences in PCa diagnosis, current status and new trends in surgery management and novel agents for castration-resistant prostate cancer. We believe such information would be helpful in clinical decision making for urologists and oncologists,health-care ministries and medical researchers.Rui Chen Shancheng Ren Ming Kwong Yiu Ng Chi Fai Wai Sam Cheng Lap Hong Ian Seiji Naito Tadashi Matsuda Elijah Kehinde Ali Kural Jason Yichun Chiu Rainy Umbas Qiang Wei Xiaolei Shi Liqun Zhou Jian Huang Yiran Huang Liping Xie Lulin Ma Changjun Yin Danfeng Xu Kexin Xu Zhangqun Ye Chunxiao Liu Dingwei Ye Xin Gao Qiang Fu Jianquan Hou Jianlin Yuan Dalin He Tiejun Pan Qiang Ding Fengshuo Jin Benkang Shi Gongxian Wang Xiuheng Liu Dongwen Wang Zhoujun Shen Xiangbo Kong Wanhai Xu Yaoliang Deng Haibo Xia Alexa NCohen Xu Gao Chuanliang Xu Yinghao Sun 2014Asian Journal of Urology2014,1,1:13
Percent free prostate-specific antigen for prostate cancer diagnosis in Chinese men with a PSA of 4.0-10.0 ng/mL:Results from the Chinese Prostate Cancer Consortium显示文摘Objective:To test the diagnostic performance of percent free prostate-specific antigen(%fPSA)in predicting any prostate cancer(PCa)and high-grade prostate cancer(HGPCa)in a retrospective multi-center biopsy cohort with a PSA level of 4.0e10.0 ng/mL in China. Methods:Consecutive patients with a PSA of 4.0-10.0 ng/mL who underwent transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy were enrolled at 16 Chinese medical centers from January 1st,2010 to December 31st,2013.Total and free serum PSA determinations were performed using three types of electro-chemiluminescence immunoassays recalibrated to the World Health Organization(WHO)standard. The diagnostic accuracy of PSA,%fPSA,and %fPSA in combination with PSA(%fPSA t PSA)was determined using the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC).Results:A total of 2310 consecutive men with PSA levels between 4.0 and 10.0 ng/mL were included, and the detection rate of PCa was 25.1%.The AUC of%fPSA and %fPSA t PSA in predicting any PCa was superior to PSA alone in men aged≥60 years(0.623 vs.0.534,p<0.0001)but not in men aged 40e59 years(0.517 vs.0.518,p=0.939).Similar result was yield in predicting HGPCa.Conclusion:In a clinical setting of Chinese men with 4.0e10.0 ng/mL PSA undergoing initial prostate biopsy, adding %fPSA to PSA can moderately improve the diagnostic accuracy for any PCa and HGPCa compared with PSA alone in patients≥60 but not in patients aged 40-59 years.Rui Chen Liping Xie Xiaobing Cai Yiran Huang Liqun Zhou Lulin Ma Xu Gao Chuanliang Xu Shancheng Ren Pengfei Shao Danfeng Xu Kexin Xu Zhangqun Ye Chunxiao Liu Dingwei Ye Li Lu Qiang Fu Jianquan Hou Jianlin Yuan Dalin He Tie Zhou Fubo Wang Biming He Yinghao Sun 2015Asian Journal of Urology2015,2,2:8
Unraveling a genetic roadmap for improved taste in the domesticated apple显示文摘Although taste is an important aspect of fruit quality, an understanding of its genetic control remains elusive in apple and other fruit crops. In this study, we conducted genomic sequence analysis of 497 Malus accessions and revealed erosion of genetic diversity caused by apple breeding and possible independent domestication events of dessert and cider apples. Signatures of selection for fruit acidity and size, but not for fruit sugar content, were detected during the processes of both domestication and improvement. Furthermore, we found that single mutations in major genes affecting fruit taste, including Ma1, MdTDT, and MdSOT2, dramatically decrease malate, citrate, and sorbitol accumulation, respectively, and correspond to important domestication events. Interestingly, Ma1 was identified to have pleiotropic effects on both organic acid content and sugar:acid ratio, suggesting that it plays a vital role in determining fruit taste. Fruit taste is unlikely to have been negatively affected by linkage drag associated with selection for larger fruit that resulted from the pyramiding of multiple genes with minor effects on fruit size. Collectively, our study provides new insights into the genetic basis of fruit quality and its evolutionary roadmap during apple domestication, pinpointing several candidate genes for genetic manipulation of fruit taste in apple.Liao Liao Weihan Zhang Bo Zhang Ting Fang Xiao-Fei Wang Yarning Cai Collins Ogutu Lei Gao Gang Chen Xiaoqing Nie Jinsheng Xu Quanyan Zhang Yiran Ren Jianqiang Yu Chukun Wang Cecilia H.Deng Baiquan Ma Beibei Zheng Chun-Xiang You Da-Gang Hu Richard Espley Kui Lin-Wang Jia-Long Yao Andrew C.Allan Awais Khan Schuyler S.Korban Zhangjun Fei Ray Ming Yu-Jin Hao Li Li Yuepeng Han 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,9:5
Repeated-batch Cultivation of Encapsulated Monascus purpureus by Polyelectrolyte Complex for Natural Pigment Production显示文摘In general, productions of natural pigment in submerged microorganism culture were much less than that in solid-state fermentation, because the solid-state culture can provide a support carrier for the mycelium. To improve natural pigment production, the cultivation of Monascus purpureus in submerged encapsulated cell was investigated. Monascus purpureus immobilized in polyelectrolyte complex(PEC) microcapsules, which were pre-pared by sodium cellulose sulphate(NaCS) and poly-dimethyl-diallyl-ammonium chloride(PDMDAAC),was a good substitute for submerged cell culture because it mimicked the solid-state environment. The repeated-batch process with encapsulated cells was studied in flasks and a bubble column. The results indicated that the bubble column was more suitable for the encapsulation culture than the shaking flasks because of its good mass transfer performance and minor shear stress on cells. Owing to the protection of the microcapsule's membrane,Monascus purpureus in microcapsules increased approximately three times over that in free cell culture with negligible cell leakage to the medium. The pigment production in the bubble column finally reached 3.82(OD500) ,which was two times higher than in free cell culture. In addition, the duration of each batch was shortened to 15% of that in free cell culture.LIU Jiefeng REN Yiran YAO Shanjing 2010Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2010,18,6:4
Association between obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular diseases显示文摘Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)is a common respiratory disorder characterized by partial obstruction of upper respiratory tract and repetitive cessation of breathing during sleep. The etiology behind OSA is associated with the occurrence of intermittent hypoxemia, recurrent arousals and intrathoracic pressure swings. These contributing factors may turn on various signaling mechanisms including elevated sympathetic tone, oxidative stress, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, cardiovascular variability, abnormal coagulation and metabolic defect(e.g.,insulin resistance, leptin resistance and altered hepatic metabolism).Given its close tie with major cardiovascular risk factors,OSA is commonly linked to the pathogenesis of a wide array of cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)including hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, stroke, cerebrovascular disease and pulmonary hypertension(PH).The current standard treatment for OSA using adequate nasal continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)confers a significant reduction in cardiovascular morbidity.Nonetheless, despite the availability of effective therapy, patients with CVDs are still deemed highly vulnerable to OSA and related adverse clinical outcomes.A better understanding of the etiology of OSA along with early diagnosis should be essential for this undertreated disorder in the clinical setting.Yiran E.Li Jun Ren 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,7:3
Expression Analysis of the MdCIbHLH1 Gene in Apple Flower Buds and Seeds in the Process of Dormancy显示文摘A bHLH transcription factor that is induced by low temperature was found in apple(Malus×domestica Borkh.). To understand the sequence characteristics of the gene, bioinformatics analysis was performed. Furthermore, gene expression patterns of the laminated apple seeds and lateral flower buds were analyzed during the period of dormancy release with semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Based on secondary structure predictions, the results showed that the MdCIbHLH1 protein structure mainly included α-helix and random coil, while β-sheet and extended strand content was less. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that the expression patterns of MdCIbHLH1 were similar in laminated apple seeds and lateral flower buds during the period of dormancy release. Before dormancy release, expression levels of MdCIbHLH1 were high and gradually decreased during the period of dormancy release. These results indicated that MdCIbHLH1 might play an important role during dormancy release in apple seeds and apple buds.REN Yiran ZHAO Qiang ZHAO Xianyan HAO Yujin YOU Chunxiang 2016Horticultural Plant Journal2016,2,2:3
Erythrocytosis caused by giant chromophobe renal cell carcinoma:a case report indicating a 9.year misdiagnosis of polycythemia vera显示文摘Background:Erythrocytosis,a rare paraneoplastic syndrome, generally occurs in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma and has never been reported in patients with chromophobe renal cell carcinoma.Case presentation:We report a case of a young man suffering from a giant(22-cm) mass on his left kidney.Because of a history of polycythemia vera, the patient had been treated for the condition for 9 years.Radical nephrectomy was successfully performed, and the postoperative pathologic examination confirmed a diagnosis of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma.Unexpectedly, the symptom of erythrocytosis disappeared after the surgery.Further examination and analysis were performed, and we finally attributed his erythrocytosis to chromophobe renal cell carcinoma. Conclusions:Chromophobe renal cell carcinoma could cause erythrocytosis, but the clear-cut mechanism needs further research.Secondary erythrocytosis such as those related with renal tumors should be taken into consideration during the diagnosis of polycythemia vera.Renbo Guo Yiran Liang Lei Yan Zhonghua Xu Juchao Ren 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,9:1
Health influence of SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19)on cancer:a review显示文摘The novel coronavirus,namely,SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19),broke out two years ago and has caused major global health issues.Adequate treatment options are still lacking for the management of COVID-19 viral infections. Many patients afflicted with COVID-19 may range from asymptomatic to severe symptomatic, triggering poor clinical outcomes, morbidity, and mortality.Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It is pertinent to re-examine cancer prevalence during the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent mortality and complications.Understanding the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on cancer is key to appropriate healthcare measures for the treatment and prevention of this vulnerable population.Data was acquired from PubMed using key search terms.Additional databases were utilized, such as the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control,American Cancer Society(ACS),and National Cancer Institute(NCI).Cancer patients are more prone to SARS-CoV-2 infection and exhibit poor health outcomes, possibly due to a chronic immunosuppressive state and anticancer therapies.Male sex, older age,and active cancer disease or previous cancer are risk factors for COVID-19 infection, leading to possible severe complications, including morbidity or mortality. The speculated mechanism for potentially higher mortality or COVID-19 complications is through reduced immune system function and inflammatory processes through cancer disease, anticancer therapy, and active COVID-19 infection. This review includes prostate, breast, ovarian, hematologic, lung, colorectal, esophageal, bladder, pancreatic, cervical, and head and neck cancers. This review should help better maintain the health of cancer patients and direct clinicians for COVID-19 prevention to improve the overall health outcomes.Rachel Parise Yiran ELi Rishi MNadar Sindhu Ramesh Jun Ren Manoj Yogish Govindarajulu Timothy Moore Muralikrishnan Dhanasekaran 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,10:0
Optically Controlled Coercive Field of MAPbl_(3)/P(VDF-TrFE)Ferroelectric Composite Films显示文摘Ferroelectric polymers, such as poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene)[P(VDF-TrFE)or PVTF]have attracted growing interest in developing flexible devices because of their excellent ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity.High coercive field(E c)inherent to PVTF for switching its polarization, however,is not beneficial for practical memory or sensor device application.Different strategies, including irradiation and interface control, have been thus developed to reduce E c.Despite many efforts,a facile approach to tailoring intrinsic E_(c) of PVTF has not been documented. In this work,an optically controlled E_(c) was reported, which is achieved for the first time by introducing photosensitive MAPbI3 nanocrystals into PVTF matrix. When exposed to the irradiation of 532 nm laser light,a decreased E_(c) of the composites can be achieved reversibly by increasing the light density. The decreased level of E_(c) increases as the MAPbI3 content enhanced, and a 10.7%reduction of E_(c) can be achieved in 15%(mass fraction)MAPbI3/PVTF samples. These results could be attributed to loading an internal stress on PVTF,which was generated by the photostriction of MAPbI3 nanocrystals. This explanation was further supported by in-situ XRD results under irradiation of 532 nm laser light. Our findings may offer the opportunity to optically modulate the ferroelectric properties of PVTF composites for optimized device performances.SU Yangfan SUN Yiran ZHOU Dikui TANG Xiaoming HAN Gaorong REN Zhaohui 2023Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2023,39,2:0
A gated strategy stabilizes room-temperature phosphorescence显示文摘Room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)of purely organic materials is easily quenched with unexpected purposes because the excited triplet state is extremely susceptible to external stimuli. How to stabilize the RTP property of purely organic luminogens is still challenging and considered as the bottleneck in the further advancement of the bottom-up approach. Here,we describe a gated strategy that can effectively harness RTP by employing complexation/dissociation with proton.Due to the order-disorder transition orientation of intermolecular packing, the RTP of organic molecules 2,4,6-tris(4′-bromo-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)-1,3,5-triazine(Br-TRZ)will easily vanish upon mechanical force.Impressively,by enhancing its intramolec-ular charge transfer effect, the protonated Br-TRZ stubbornly possesses an obvious RTP under external grinding, whatever in the ordered or disordered intermolec-ular arrangement state.Consequently, the“Lock”gate of RTP was achieved in the protonated Br-TRZ molecule.Combined with theoretical calculation analy-sis,the enhanced charge transfer effect can narrow the energy gap singlet-tripletsignificantly,and stabilize the RTP property of triazine derivative sequentially.Fur-thermore,the locked RTP can be tuned via proton and counterions repeatedly and show excellent reversibility. This gated RTP concept provides an effective strategy for stabilizing the RTP emission of purely organic systems.Kaizhi Gu Zhengong Meng Xing Wang Liu Yue Wu Xin Qi Yiran Ren Zhen-Qiang Yu Ben Zhong Tang 2023Aggregate2023,4,4:0
