2Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor C to promote lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer patients显示文摘Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha(HIF-1α)affects many effector molecules and regulates tumor lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis during hypoxia.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of HIF-1αin the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)expression and its effect on lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.Lymphatic vessel density(LVD),microvessel density(MVD)and the expressions of HIF-1αand VEGF-C proteins were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 75 breast cancer samples.There was a significant correlation between HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.014,r=0.273,Spearman's coefficient of correlation).HIF-1αand VEGF-C overexpression was significantly correlated with higher LVD(P=0.003 and P=0.017,respectively),regional lymph nodal involvement(P=0.002 and P=0.004,respectively)and advanced tumor,node,metastasis(TNM)classification(P=0.001 and P=0.01,respectively).Higher MVD was observed in the group expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.033 and P=0.037,respectively).Univariate analysis showed shorter survival time in patients expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C.HIF-1αwas also found to be an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in multivariate analysis.The results suggest that HIF-1αmay affect VEGF-C expression,thus acting as a crucial regulator of lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.This study highlights promising potential of HIF-1αas a therapeutic target against tumor lymph node metastasis.Xiaojian Ni Yingchun Zhao Jingjing Ma Tiansong Xia Xiaoan Liu Qiang Ding Xiaoming Zha Shui Wang 2013The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,6:10

4Atomic-scaled surface engineering Ni-Pt nanoalloys towards enhanced catalytic efficiency for methanol oxidation reaction显示文摘Surface engineering is known as an effective strategy to enhance the catalytic properties of Pt-based nanomaterials.Herein,we report on surface engineering Ni-Pt nanoalloys with a facile method by varying the Ni doping concentration and oleylamine/oleicacid surfactant-mix.The alloy-composition,exposed facet condition,and surface lattice strain are,thereby manipulated to optimize the catalytic efficiency of such nanoalloys for methanol oxidation reaction(MOR).Exemplary nanoalloys including Ni_(0.69)Pt_(0.31)truncated octahedrons,Ni_(0.45)Pt_(0.55)nanomultipods and Ni_(0.20)Pt_(0.80)nanoflowers are thoroughly characterized,with a commercial Pt/C catalyst as a common benchmark.Their variations in MOR catalytic efficiency are significant:2.2 A/mgPt for Ni_(0.20)Pt_(0.80)nanoflowers,1.2 A/mgPt for Ni_(0.45)Pt_(0.55)nanomultipods,0.7 A/mgPt for Ni_(0.69)Pt_(0.31)truncated octahedrons,and 0.6 A/mgPt for the commercial Pt/C catalysts.Assisted by density functional theory calculations,we correlate these observed catalysis-variations particularly to the intriguing presence of surface interplanar-strains,such as{111}facets with an interplanar-tensile-strain of 2.6%and{200}facets with an interplanar-tensile-strain of 3.5%,on the Ni_(0.20)Pt_(0.80)nanoflowers.Aixian Shan Shuoyuan Huang Haofei Zhao Wengui Jiang Xueai Teng Yingchun Huang Chinping Chen Rongming Wang Woon-Ming Lau 2020Nano Research2020,13,11:6
5Modulation of nitrate-induced phosphate response by the MYB transcription factor RLI1/HINGE1 in the nucleus显示文摘The coordinated utilization of nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)is vital for plants to maintain nutrient balance and achieve optimal growth.Previously,we revealed a mechanism by which nitrate induces genes for phosphate utilization;this mechanism depends on NRT1.1B-facilitated degradation of cytoplasmic SPX4,which in turn promotes cytoplasmic-nuclear shuttling of PHR2,the central transcription factor of phosphate signaling,and triggers the nitrate-induced phosphate response(NIPR)and N-P coordinated utilization in rice.In this study,we unveiled a fine-tuning mechanism of NIPR in the nucleus regulated by Highly Induced by Nitrate Gene 1(HINGE1,also known as RLI1),a MYB-transcription factor closely related to PHR2.RLI1/HINGE1,which is transcriptionally activated by PHR2 under nitrate induction,can directly activate the expression of phosphate starvation-induced genes.More importantly,RLI1/HINGE1 competes with PHR2 for binding to its repressor proteins in the nucleus(SPX proteins),and consequently releases PHR2 to further enhance phosphate response.Therefore,RLI1/HINGE1 amplifies the phosphate response in the nucleus downstream of the cytoplasmic SPX4-PHR2 cascade,thereby enabling fine-tuning of N-P balance when nitrate supply is sufficient.Zhihua Zhang Zhao Li Wei Wang Zhimin Jiang Liping Guo Xiaohan Wang Yangwen Qian Xiahe Huang Yongqiang Liu Xiujie Liu Yahong Liu Aifu Li Yu Yan Junpeng Xie Shouyun Cao Stanislav Kopriva Legong Li Fanjiang Kong Baohui Liu Yingchun Wang Bin Hu Chengcai Chu 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:4
6MICRO/NANO-MACHINING ON SILICON SURFACE WITH A MODIFIED ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPE显示文摘To understand the deformation and removal mechanism of material on nano-scale at ultralow loads,a systemic study on AFM micro/nano-machining on single crystal ailicon is conducted. The results indicate that AFM nano- machining has a precisely dimensional controllability and a good surface quality on nanometer scale.A SEM is adopted to observe nano-machined region and chips,the results indicate that the material removal mechanisms change with the applied normal load. An XPS is used to analyze the changes of chemical composition inside and outside the nano-machined region respectively.The nano-indentation which is conducted with the same AFM diamond tip on the machined region shows a big discrepancy compared with that on the macro-scale. 7Cold spray additive manufacturing of Invar 36 alloy:microstructure,thermal expansion and mechanical properties显示文摘In this work,the Invar 36 alloys were manufactured using cold spray(CS)additive manufacturing technique.The systematic investigations were made on the microstructural evolution,thermal expansion and mechanical properties under as-sprayed(AS)and heat-treated(HT)conditions.XRD(X-ray diffraction)and ICP-AES(inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy)analyses show that no phase transformation,oxidation,nor element content change have occurred.The X-ray computed tomography(XCT)exhibited a near fully dense structure with a porosity of 0.025%in the helium-produced sample under as-sprayed condition,whereas the nitrogen-produced samples produced at 5 MPa and 800℃show more irregular pore defects.He-AS sample shows a more prominent grain refinement than that of nitrogen samples due to the more extensive plastic deformation.The post heat-treatment exhibited a promoted grain growth,inter-particle diffusion,as well as the formation of annealing twins.Between25℃and 200℃,the nitrogen samples possessed lower CTE(coefficient of thermal expansion)values(1.53×10^(-6)/℃)compared with those produced by casting and laser additive manufacturing.The He-AS samples exhibited a noticeable negative CTE value between 25℃and 200℃,which may due to the significant compressive residual stress(-272 MPa)compensating its displacement with temperature increase during CTE test.The N2-HT and He-HT Invar 36 samples present a notable balance between strength and ductility.In conclusion,the CS technique can be considered as a potential method to produce the Invar36 component with high thermal and mechanical performance.Chaoyue Chen Yingchun Xie Longtao Liu Ruixin Zhao Xiaoli Jin Shanqing Li Renzhong Huang Jiang Wang Hanlin Liao Zhongming Ren 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,13:4

11Science Researches of Chinese Manned Space Flight显示文摘With the complete success of the 2nd stage of Chinese Manned Space Program(CMSP),several science researches have been performed on Tiangong-1 experimental spacelab, which was docked with three Shenzhou spaceships one after another. The China's real spacelab, Tiangong-2 will be launched in 2015, docked with a Shenzhou spaceship soon. After six months, it will be docked with the first Chinese cargo ship(Tianzhou-1). More space science researches, involving with space biology, fluid physics, fundamental physics, materials science, Earth science, astronomy and space environmental science, will be operated on Tiangong-2 spacelab, and crewed and cargo spaceships. Furthermore, the considerable large-scale space utilization of Shina's Space Station is planned. 12Influence of post-grown treatments on CuInS_2 thin films prepared by sulphurization of Cu-In films显示文摘Polycrystalline CuInS2 (CIS) films were prepared by sulphurization of Cu-In films. The surface morphology and phase composition of the as-grown film, the KCN-etched film, and the annealed KCN-etched film were investigated. During the sulphurization, the secondary CuxS phase segregated on the surface of the as-grown films. To improve the crystalline quality of CuInS2 films, a series of post-grown treatments, such as KCN-etching and vacuum annealing KCN-etched films, were performed on the as-grown films. Both as-grown and post-treated films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The results indicated that a CuxS secondary phase segregated on the surface of the as-grown film, which could be removed effectively by KCN etching. After the vacuum annealing treatment, the KCN-etched film had a sphalerite structure with (112) preferred orientation. 14Cryptococcus neoformans,a global threat to human health显示文摘Background Emerging fungal pathogens pose important threats to global public health. The World Health Organization has responded to the rising threat of traditionally neglected fungal infections by developing a Fungal Priority Pathogens List (FPPL). Taking the highest-ranked fungal pathogen in the FPPL,Cryptococcus neoformans, as a paradigm, we review progress made over the past two decades on its global burden, its clinical manifestation and management of cryptococcal infection, and its antifungal resistance. The purpose of this review is to drive research efforts to improve future diagnoses, therapies, and interventions associated with fungal infections.Methods We first reviewed trends in the global burden of HIV-associated cryptococcal infection, mainly based on a series of systematic studies. We next conducted scoping reviews in accordance with the guidelines described in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses extension for Scoping Reviews using PubMed and ScienceDirect with the keywordCryptococcus neoformans to identify case reports of cryptococcal infections published since 2000. We then reviewed recent updates on the diagnosis and antifungal treatment of cryptococcal infections. Finally, we summarized knowledge regarding the resistance and tolerance ofC. neoformans to approved antifungal drugs.Results There has been a general reduction in the estimated global burden of HIV-associated cryptococcal meningitis since 2009, probably due to improvements in highly active antiretroviral therapies. However, cryptococcal meningitis still accounts for 19% of AIDS-related deaths annually. The incidences of CM in Europe and North America and the Latin America region have increased by approximately two-fold since 2009, while other regions showed either reduced or stable numbers of cases. Unfortunately, diagnostic and treatment options for cryptococcal infections are limited, and emerging antifungal resistance exacerbates the public health burden.Conclusions The rising threat ofC. neoformans is compounded by accumulating evidence for its ability to infect immunocompetent individuals and the emergence of antifungal-resistant variants. Emphasis should be placed on further understanding the mechanisms of pathogenicity and of antifungal resistance and tolerance.
