1Tillage and straw mulching impacts on grain yield and water use efficiency of spring maize in Northern Huang–Huai–Hai Valley显示文摘A two-year field experiment(2012–2013) was conducted to investigate the effects of two tillage methods and five maize straw mulching patterns on the yield, water consumption,and water use efficiency(WUE) of spring maize(Zea mays L.) in the northern Huang–Huai–Hai valley of China. Compared to rotary tillage, subsoil tillage resulted in decreases in water consumption by 6.3–7.8% and increases in maize yield by 644.5–673.9 kg ha-1, soil water content by 2.9–3.0%, and WUE by 12.7–15.2%. Chopped straw mulching led to higher yield,soil water content, and WUE as well as lower water consumption than prostrate whole straw mulching. Mulching with 50% chopped straw had the largest positive effects on maize yield, soil water content, and WUE among the five mulching treatments. Tillage had greater influence on maize yield than straw mulching, whereas straw mulching had greater influence on soil water content, water consumption, and WUE than tillage. 2Maize kernel weight responses to sowing dateassociated variation in weather conditions显示文摘Variation in weather conditions during grain filling has substantial effects on maize kernel weight(KW). The objective of this work was to characterize variation in KW with sowing date-associated weather conditions and examine the relationship between KW, grain filling parameters, and weather factors. Maize was sown on eight sowing dates(SD) at 15–20-day intervals from mid-March to mid-July during 2012 and 2013 in the North China Plain. With sowing date delay, KW increased initially and later declined, and the greatest KW was obtained at SD6 in both years. The increased KW at SD6 was attributed mainly to kernel growth rate(Gmean), and effective grain-filling period(P). Variations in temperature and radiation were the primary factors that influenced KW and grain-filling parameters. When the effective cumulative temperature(AT) and radiation(Ra)during grain filling were 950 °C and 1005.4 MJ m-2, respectively, P and KW were greatest. High temperatures(daily maximum temperature [Tmax] > 30.2 °C) during grain filling under early sowing conditions, or low temperatures(daily minimum temperature [Tmin] < 20.7 °C) under late sowing conditions combined with high diurnal temperature range(Tmax-min> 7.1 °C) decreased kernel growth rate and ultimately final KW. When sowing was performed from May 25 through June 27, higher KW and yield of maize were obtained. 3Integrated agronomic practice increases maize grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency under various soil fertility conditions显示文摘Crop yield potential can be increased through the use of appropriate agronomic practices. Integrated agronomic practice (IAP) is an effective way to increase maize (Zea mays L.) grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE);however, the physiological processes associated with gains in yield potential obtained from IAP, particularly the different under various soil fertility conditions, remain poorly understood. An IAP strategy including optimal planting density, split fertilizer application, and subsoiling tillage was evaluated over two growing seasons to determine whether the effects of IAP on maize yield and NUE differ under different levels of soil fertility. Compared to farmers' practices (FP), IAP increased maize grain yield in 2013 and 2014 by 25% and 28%, respectively, in low soil fertility (LSF) fields and by 36% and 37%, respectively, in high soil fertility (HSF) fields. The large yield gap was attributed mainly to greater dry matter (DM) and N accumulation with IAP than with FP owing to increased leaf area index (LAI) and DM accumulation rate, which were promoted by greater soil mineral N content (Nmin) and root length. Post-silking DM and N accumulation were also greater with IAP than with FP under HSF conditions, accounting for 60% and 43%, respectively, of total biomass and N accumulation;however, no significant differences were found for post-silking DM and N accumulation between IAP and FP under LSF conditions. Thus, the increase in grain yield with IAP was greater under HSF than under LSF. Because of greater grain yield and N uptake, IAP significantly increased N partial factor productivity, agronomic N efficiency, N recovery efficiency, and physiological efficiency of applied N compared to FP, particularly in the HSF fields. 4The Effect of Netting Solidity Ratio and Inclined Angle on the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Knotless Polyethylene Netting显示文摘Knotless polyethylene(PE) netting has been widely used in aquaculture cages and fishing gears, especially in Japan. In this study, the hydrodynamic coefficient of six knotless PE netting panels with different solidity ratios were assessed in a flume tank under various attack angles of netting from 0?(parallel to flow) to 90?(perpendicular to flow) and current speeds from 40 cm s^(-1) to 130 cm s^(-1). It was found that the drag coefficient was related to Reynolds number, solidity ratio and attack angle of netting. The solidity ratio was positively related with drag coefficient for netting panel perpendicular to flow, whereas when setting the netting panel parallel to the flow the opposite result was obtained. For netting panels placed at an angle to the flow, the lift coefficient reached the maximum at an attack angle of 50? and then decreased as the attack angle further increased. The solidity ratio had a dual influence on drag coefficient of inclined netting panels. 5Comparison of nominal and standardized catch per unit effort data in quantifying habitat suitability of skipjack tuna in the equatorial Pacific Ocean显示文摘In the western and central Pacific Ocean,upper strata waters exhibit highly dynamic oceanographic features under ENSO variability.This has been proved to be responsible for the dynamic change of both abundance and zonal distribution of skipjack tuna(Katsuwonus pelamis).Although causality has been suggested by researchers using physical-biological interaction models,cumulative evidence needs to be obtained and the tenability of assertion needs to be tested from an ecological habitat perspective,based on fisheries data.For purse seine fishery,the use of catch per unit effort(CPUE)as an indication of the abundance is confusing because of technical improvements over the whole exploitation history and unbalanced individual fishing characteristic of vessels.It is particularly interesting to discriminate between habitat characteristics in comparative scenarios of CPUE application.This study identified habitat traits based on a series of oceanographic factors from a global ocean reanalysis model.A comparison was conducted between two habitat models based on unprocessed purse seine CPUE and standardized CPUE considering fishing characteristics.The results suggest that standardized CPUE could model the regular zonal shift of habitat compatible with the observed fishing efforts transfer,and achieved better prediction capacity than unprocessed CPUE.Furthermore,the habitat of skipjack tuna was also characterized and linked with surface and subsurface thermal environment,ocean current,dissolved oxygen,biotic environment,and ENSO variability.The monthly-averaged habitat suitable index,derived from the optimal habitat model prediction,showed a significant linear relationship with the southern oscillation index,which suggested that El Ni?o episodes eventually provide more preferable habitat for skipjack tuna under ENSO variability.Cheng Zhou Yuanyuan Hu Jie Cao Liuxiong Xu Xuefang Wang Rong Wan Yu Xiao Jiangfeng Zhu Hao Tang 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,3:3

8Tuning Interface Bridging Between MoSe2 and Three‑Dimensional Carbon Framework by Incorporation of MoC Intermediate to Boost Lithium Storage Capability显示文摘Interface engineering has been widely explored to improve the electrochemical performances of composite electrodes,which governs the interface charge transfer,electron transportation,and structural stability.Herein,MoC is incorporated into MoSe2/C composite as an intermediate phase to alter the bridging between MoSe2-and nitrogen-doped three-dimensional(3D)carbon framework as MoSe2/MoC/N–C connection,which greatly improve the structural stability,electronic conductivity,and interfacial charge transfer.Moreover,the incorporation of MoC into the composites inhibits the overgrowth of MoSe2 nanosheets on the 3D carbon framework,producing much smaller MoSe2 nanodots.The obtained MoSe2 nanodots with fewer layers,rich edge sites,and heteroatom doping ensure the good kinetics to promote pseudo-capacitance contributions.Employing as anode material for lithium-ion batteries,it shows ultralong cycle life(with 90%capacity retention after 5000 cycles at 2 A g−1)and excellent rate capability.Moreover,the constructed LiFePO4//MoSe2/MoC/N–C full cell exhibits over 86%capacity retention at 2 A g−1 after 300 cycles.The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the interface engineering by incorporation of MoC as interface bridging intermediate to boost the lithium storage capability,which can be extended as a potential general strategy for the interface engineering of composite materials.Jing Chen Yilin Luo Wenchao Zhang Yu Qiao Xinxin Cao Xuefang Xie Haoshen Zhou Anqiang Pan Shuquan Liang 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,12:1

10Degradability evaluation for natural material fibre used on fish aggregation devices(FADs)in tuna purse seine fishery显示文摘Purse seiners deploy large amounts of drifting fish aggregation devices(FADs)in all tropical oceans to catch tunas.These FADs are constructed with porous synthetic fibre netting,which are responsible for incidental mortality of sea turtles and sharks through entanglement,and can engage in ghost fishing if they are lost and abandoned.The use of natural or biodegradable materials to build FADs can effectively mitigate marine pollution and bycatch issues,and as such they are currently promoted by fisheries management organizations.This study evaluated the degradability of ropes made of common natural fibres;cotton rope(3-strand,96-thread,twisted,S-lay),jute rope(3-strand,13-thread,twisted,Z-lay)and sisal rope(3-strand,8-thread,twisted,Z-lay).Degradability was evaluated by measuring the breaking strength(cN/dtex)and retention ratio of rupture elongation.Results showed that jute rope and sisal rope experienced rapid reduction of strength which over the first month soaking in the sea fell by 66.8%and 46.9%,respectively.Cotton rope exhibited the most inert degradation behavior,with breaking strength maintained at half of the initial value at 10 months.The retention ratio of rupture elongation for jute ropes and sisal ropes fluctuated considerably in the following months after deployment,compared to the relatively stable change for cotton rope.Results suggested that among these congeners,cotton rope would be most preferable component for Bio-FADs with a 10-month minimum durability that matches the required lifetime of FAD fishing strategies.Yucheng Wang Cheng Zhou Liuxiong Xu Rong Wan Jiangao Shi Xuefang Wang Hao Tang Lumin Wang Wenwen Yu Kai Wang 2021Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,4:1

12Three photosynthetic patterns characterized by cluster analysis of gas exchange data in two rice populations显示文摘Plant photosynthetic rate is affected by stomatal status and internal CO2 carboxylation. Understanding which process determines photosynthetic rate is essential for developing strategies for breeding crops with high photosynthetic efficiency. In this study, we identified different physiological patterns of photosynthetic rate in two different rice populations. Photosynthetic gas exchange parameters were measured during the flowering stage in two rice populations. Clustering and correlation analyses were performed on the resulting data. Five or six groups were defined by K-means clustering according to differences in net photosynthetic rates(Pn). According to differences in stomatal conductance(gs) and carboxylation efficiency(CE), each group was clustered into three subgroups characterized by physiological patterns stomatal pattern, carboxylation pattern, and intermediate pattern. Pn was significantly correlated with gs(r = 0.810) and CE(r = 0.531). Pn was also significantly correlated with gs and CE in the three physiological patterns. The correlation coefficients were highest in the stomatal pattern(0.905 and 0.957) and lowest in the carboxylation pattern(0.825 and 0.859). 14Spatial variation in bigeye tuna Thunnus obesus size at sexual maturity in the eastern Pacific Ocean显示文摘Understanding the reproductive characteristics of a species is of crucial for accurate stock assessment and management plans to ensure sustainable fisheries.In this study,the size at 50%sexual maturity(L50)parameters in different bio-ecological provinces were estimated for bigeye tuna,Thunnus obesus,sampled from the Eastern Pacific Ocean tuna fisheries-dependent survey from 2013 to 2019.The overall sex ratio of the catch during the sampling differed significantly from 1:1.Bigeye tuna exhibit sexual dimorphism in the growth of males and females,with a clear shift in predominance from female to male with increasing sizes.In the North Pacific Sub-tropical Gyre(east)(NPST-east),North Pacific Tropical Gyre(NPTG),Pacific North Equatorial Countercurrent(PNEC),and Pacific Equatorial Divergence(PEQD),females(meals)reached sexual maturity round 102 cm(106 cm),106 cm(100 cm),125 cm(110 cm),and 113 cm(110 cm),respectively,the estimated L50 of bigeye tuna was 124.08 cm,121.97 cm,139.92 cm and 132.45 cm,respectively.The degree of populations mixing between equatorial(PNEC and PEQD)and high-latitude regions(NPST-east and NPTG)is extremely small,but it is reasonably high between the NPST-east and NPTG or PNEC and PEQD.These parameters were significantly different,suggesting the occurrence of a spatial difference in the size-at-maturity of bigeye tuna between these bio-ecological provinces.The findings of this study provide the key information for understanding the life history of bigeye tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and will contribute to the conservation and sustainable yield of this species.Hongji Huang Cheng Zhou Liuxiong Xu Jiangfeng Zhu Xuefang Wang Jie Cao 2023Aquaculture and Fisheries2023,8,5:0
15The correlation of miRNA expression and tumor mutational burden in uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma显示文摘Background:The relationship between microRNA(miRNA)expression patterns and tumor mutation burden(TMB)in uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma(UCEC)was investigated in this study.Methods:The UCEC dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database was used to identify the miRNAs that differ in expression between high TMB and low TMB sample sets.The total sample sets were divided into a training set and a test set.TMB levels were predicted using miRNA-based signature classifiers developed by Lasso Cox regression.Test sets were used to validate the classifier.This study investigated the relationship between a miRNA-based signature classifier and three immune checkpoint molecules(programmed cell death protein 1[PD-1],programmed cell death ligand 1[PD-L1],cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4[CTLA-4]).For the miRNA-based signature classifier,functional enrichment analysis was performed on the miRNAs.An analysis of the relationship between PD-1,PD-L1,and CTLA-4 immune checkpoint genes was carried out using the miRNA-based signature classifier.Results:We identified 27 differentially expressed miRNAs in miRNA-base signature.For predicting the TMB level,27-miRNA-based signature classifiers had accuracies of 0.8689 in the training cohort,0.8276 in the test cohort,and 0.8524 in the total cohort.The correlation between the miRNA-based signature classifier and PD-1 was negative,while the correlation between PD-L1 and CTLA4 was positive.Based on the miRNA profiling described above,we validated the expression levels of 9 miRNAs in clinical samples by quantitative reverse transcription PCR(qRT-PCR).Four of them were highly expressed and many cancer-related and immune-associated biological processes were linked to these 27 miRNAs.Thus,the developed miRNA-based signature classifier was correlated with TMB levels that could also predict TMB levels in UCEC samples.Conclusion:In this study,we investigated the relationship between a miRNAbased signature classifier and TMB levels in Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma.Further,this is the first study to confirm their relationship in clinical samples,which may provide more evidence support for immunotherapy of endometrial cancer.YANYA CHEN HONGYUAN WU RUISI ZHOU HELING DONG XUEFANG ZHANG XUEWEI WU WENSHAN CHEN YANTING YOU YIFEN WU 2023BIOCELL2023,47,6:0
