| 1 | The adsorption behavior of metals in aqueous solution by microplastics effected by UV radiation显示文摘Microplastics are considered as the carrier to heavy metals in the environment.But the sorption ability of microplastics influenced by photo-aging is remaining unclear.In the present study,the sorption of two kinds of metal ions(Cu^2+ and Zn^2+)in the aqueous solution by both the virgin and aged microplastics was investigated.Polyethylene terephthalate(PET)debris,one of the typical kinds of microplastics was chosen in this study.Photo-aging of microplastics in environment was simulated using UV radiation in the laboratory.Date analysis indicated that the aged microplastics had higher adsorption capacity of heavy metals than original ones.This could be related to the increased surface area and oxygen containing function appeared in the surface of aged microplastics after UV radiation.When prolonging the time of radiation,the enhanced adsorption capacities of microplastics appeared for Cu^2+ and Zn^2+.These results showed a great interaction between the aging degree of plastics and sorption capacity to heavy metals.Meanwhile,external conditions including temperature and pH value were also showed great influence to the adsorption behavior. | Qiongjie Wang Yong Zhang Xiaoxue Wangjin Yulai Wang Guanhua Meng Yihua Chen | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1: | 47 |

In this review article, the applications of MSNs in pharmaceutics to improve drug bioavailability, reduce drug toxicity, and deliver with cellular targetability are summarized. | 3 | Behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption-desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure显示文摘This work was undertaken to investigate the behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption and desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure. Five kinds of activated carbon from different raw materials were selected. Adsorption isotherms and breakthrough curves for toluene were measured. Langmuir and Freundlich equations were fitted to the equilibrium data, and the Freundlich equation was more suitable for simulating toluene adsorption. The process consisted of monolayer, multilayer and partial active site adsorption types. The effect of the pore structure of the activated carbons on toluene adsorption capacity was investigated. The quasi-first-order model was more suitable for describing the process than the quasi-second-order model. The adsorption data was also modeled by the internal particle diffusion model and it was found that the adsorption process could be divided into three stages. In the external surface adsorption process, the rate depended on the specific surface area. During the particle diffusion stage, pore structure and volume were the main factors affecting adsorption rate. In the final equilibrium stage, the rate was determined by the ratio of meso-and macro-pores to total pore volume. The rate over the whole adsorption process was dominated by the toluene concentration. The desorption behavior of toluene on activated carbons was investigated,and the process was divided into heat and mass transfer parts corresponding to emission and diffusion mechanisms, respectively. | 4 | The mortality of lung cancer attributable to smoking among adults in China and the United States during 1990–2017显示文摘Background:Statistical data on the burden and relevant risk factors of lung cancer are valuable for policy-making.This study aimed to compare the mortality of lung cancer attributable to smoking stratified by sex and age among adults in China and the United States(US).Methods:We extracted age-standardized mortality rates of lung cancer during 1990-2017 using the comparative risk assessment framework of the 2017 Global Burden of Disease study.We performed an age-period-cohort analysis to estimate time trend of lung cancer mortality attributable to smoking.Results:During 1990-2017,the age-standardized mortality rate of lung cancer was increasing in China but decreasing in the US for both sexes.The mortality attributable to smoking in China showed a generally increasing trend,while a continuous decrease was observed in the US.The age-period-cohort analysis showed a similar trend of age effect among adults between China and the US:the mortality substantially increased from the 30-34 to 80-84 age group and subsequently decreased in the 90-94 age group.However,the period effect rapidly increased in Chinese adults during 1990-2017,while it tended to be stable in the US although it was still slightly increasing in women.The cohort effect generally peaked in the earlier cohort born in 1902-1906 in the two countries.Conclusions:During 1990-2017,the lung cancer mortality attributable to smoking and the period effect are generally increasing in Chinese adults;the mortality attributable to smoking is decreasing in the US adults,but the period effect tends to be stable.The rapid aging and prevalence of smoking may intensify the increasing mortality of lung cancer in China. | Xiaoxue Liu Yong Yu Minsheng Wang Sumaira Mubarik Fang Wang Yafeng Wang Runtang Meng Chuanhua Yu | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,11: | 17 |
| 5 | Dependence of Hurricane Intensity and Structures on Vertical Resolution and Time-Step Size显示文摘In view of the growing interests in the explicit modeling of clouds and precipitation, the effects of varyingvertical resolution and time-step sizes on the 72-h explicit simulation of Hurricane Andrew (1992) arestudied using the Pennsylvania State University/National Center for Atmospheric Research (PSU/NCAR)mesoscale model (i.e., MMS) with the finest grid size of 6 km. It is shown that changing vertical resolutionand time-step size has significant effects on hurricane intensity and inner-core cloud/precipitation, butlittle impact on the hurricane track. In general, increasing vertical resolution tends to produce a deeperstorm with lower central pressure and stronger three-dimensional winds, and more precipitation. Similareffects, but to a less extent, occur when the time-step size is reduced. It is found that increasing thelow-level vertical resolution is more efficient in intensifying a hurricane, whereas changing the upper-levelvertical resolution has little impact on the hurricane intensity. Moreover, the use of a thicker surface layertends to produce higher maximum surface winds. | 7 | Total pollution effect of urban surface runoff显示文摘For pollution research with regard to urban surface runoff,most sampling strategies to date have focused on differences in land usage. With single land-use sampling,total surface runoffpollution effect cannot be evaluated unless every land usage spot is monitored. | 9 | Pretreatment with Danhong injection protects the brain against ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Danhong injection(DHI),a Chinese Materia Medica standardized product extracted from Radix Salviae miltiorrhizae and Flos Carthami tinctorii,is widely used in China for treating acute ischemic stroke.In the present study,we explored the neuroprotective efficacy of DHI in a rat model of temporary middle cerebral artery occlusion,and evaluated the potential mechanisms underlying its effects.Pretreatment with DHI(0.9 and 1.8 mL/kg)resulted in a significantly smaller infarct volume and better neurological scores than pretreatment with saline.Furthermore,DHI significantly reduced the permeability of the blood-brain barrier,increased occludin protein expression and decreased neutrophil infiltration,as well as profoundly suppressing the upregulation of matrix metallopeptidase-9 expression seen in rats that had received vehicle.Matrix metallopeptidase-2 expression was not affected by ischemia or DHI.Moreover,DHI(1.8 mL/kg)administered 3 hours after the onset of ischemia also improved neurological scores and reduced infarct size.Our results indicate that the neuroprotective efficacy of DHI in a rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury is mediated by a protective effect on the blood-brain barrier and the reversal of neutrophil infiltration. | Shaoxia Wang Hong Guo Xumei Wang Lijuan Chai Limin Hu Tao Zhao Buchang Zhao Xiaoxu Tan Feifei Jia | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15: | 12 |
| 10 | Tomato lncRNA23468 functions as a competing endogenous RNA to modulate NBS-LRR genes by decoying miR482b in the tomato-Phytophthora infestans interaction显示文摘Our previous studies indicated that tomato miR482b could negatively regulate the resistance of tomato to Phytophthora infestans and the expression of miR482b was decreased after inoculation with P.infestans.However,the mechanism by which the accumulation of miR482b is suppressed remains unclear.In this study,we wrote a program to identify 89 long noncoding RNA(lncRNA)-originated endogenous target mimics(eTMs)for 46 miRNAs from our RNA-Seq data.Three tomato lncRNAs,lncRNA23468,lncRNA01308 and lncRNA13262,contained conserved eTM sites for miR482b.When lncRNA23468 was overexpressed in tomato,miR482b expression was significantly decreased,and the expression of the target genes,NBS-LRRs,was significantly increased,resulting in enhanced resistance to P.infestans.Silencing lncRNA23468 in tomato led to the increased accumulation of miR482b and decreased accumulation of NBS-LRRs,as well as reduced resistance to P.infestans.In addition,the accumulation of both miR482b and NBS-LRRs was not significantly changed in tomato plants that overexpressed lncRNA23468 with a mutated eTM site.Based on the VIGS system,a target gene of miR482b,Solyc02g036270.2,was silenced.The disease symptoms of the VIGS-Solyc02g036270.2 tomato plants were in accordance with those of tomato plants in which lncRNA23468 was silenced after inoculation with P.infestans.More severe disease symptoms were found in the modified plants than in the control plants.Our results demonstrate that lncRNAs functioning as eTMs may modulate the effects of miRNAs in tomato and provide insight into how the lncRNA23468-miR482b-NBS-LRR module regulates tomato resistance to P.infestans. | Ning Jiang Jun Cui Yunsheng Shi Guanglei Yang Xiaoxu Zhou Xinxin Hou Jun Meng Yushi Luan | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 12 |
| 11 | Spatial variability of soil water content and related factors across the Hexi Corridor of China显示文摘Soil water content(SWC) is a key factor limiting ecosystem sustainability in arid and semi-arid areas of the Hexi Corridor of China, which is characterized by an ecological environment that is vulnerable to climate change. However, there is a knowledge gap regarding the large-scale spatial distribution of SWC in this region. The specific objectives of this study were to determine the spatial distribution patterns of SWC across the Hexi Corridor and identify the factors responsible for spatial variation of SWC at a regional scale. This study collected and analyzed SWC in the 0–100 cm soil profile from 109 field sampling sites(farmland, grassland and forestland) across the Hexi Corridor in 2017. We selected 17 factors, including land use, topography(latitude, longitude, elevation, slope gradient, and slope aspect), soil properties(soil clay content, soil silt content, soil bulk density, saturated hydraulic conductivity, field capacity, and soil organic carbon content), climate factors(mean annual precipitation, potential evaporation, and aridity index), plant characteristic(vegetation coverage) and planting pattern(irrigation or rain-fed), as possible environmental variables to analyze their effects on SWC. The results showed that SWC was 0.083(±0.067) g/g in the 0–100 cm soil profile and decreased in the order of farmland, grassland and forestland. The SWC in the upper soil layers(0–20, 20–40 and 40–60 cm) had obvious difference when the mean annual precipitation differed by 200 mm. The SWC decreased from southeast to northwest following the same pattern as precipitation, and had a moderate to strong spatial dependence in a large effective range(75–378 km). The SWC showed a similar distribution and had no significant difference between soil layers in the 0–100 cm soil profile. The principal component analysis showed that the mean annual precipitation, geographical position(longitude and latitude) and soil properties(soil bulk density and soil clay content) were the main factors dominating the variance of environmental variables. A stepwise linear regression equation showed that plant characteristic(vegetation coverage) and soil properties(soil organic carbon content, field capacity and soil clay content) were the optimal factors to predict the variation of SWC. | 12 | Effect of tip geometry and tip clearance on aerodynamic performance of a linear compressor cascade显示文摘The tip leakage flow between a blade and a casing wall has a strong impact on compressor pressure rise capability, efficiency, and stability. Consequently, there is a strong motivation to look for means to minimize its impact on performance. This paper presents the potential of passive tip leakage flow control to increase the aerodynamic performance of highly loaded compressor blades. Experimental investigations on a linear compressor cascade equipped with blade winglets mounted to the blade tips have been carried out. Results for a variation of the tip clearance and the winglet geometry are presented. Current results indicate that the use of proper tip winglets in a compressor cascade can positively affect the local aerodynamic field by weakening the tip leakage vortex. Results also show that the suction-side winglets are aerodynamically superior to the pressure-side or combined winglets. | 14 | Using Impervious Surfaces to Detect Urban Expansion in Beijing of China in 2000s显示文摘The change of impervious surface area(ISA) can effectively reveal the gradual process of urbanization and act as a key index for monitoring urban expansion. Experiencing rapid growth of the built environment in the 2000 s, urban expansion of Beijing has not been fully characterized through ISA. In this study, Landsat TM images of Beijing in 2001 and 2009 were obtained, and the eight-year urban expansion process in Beijing was analyzed using the ISA extracted by means of the vegetation-imperious surface-soil(V-I-S) model. From the spatial variation in ISA, the ring structure of urban expansion in Beijing was significant during the study period, with decreasing urban density from the city center to the periphery. In the ring road analysis, the most dramatic changes of ISA were found between the fifth ring and the sixth ring. This area has experienced the most new residential development, and is currently the main source of urban expansion. The typical profile lines revealed the directional characteristics of urban expansion. The east-west profile was the most urbanized axes in Beijing, while ISA change in the east-north profile was more significant than in the other five profiles. Moreover, the transition matrix of ISA levels revealed an increase in urban density in the low density built areas; the Moran′s I index showed a clear expansion of the central urban area, which spread contiguously; and the standard deviational ellipse indicated the northeast was the dominant direction of urban expansion. The basic working principles, performance indexes, features and data collection and processing methods are illus-trated. The point cloud results are analyzed in detail. The rescale range analysis method was used to analyze the deformation char-acteristics of the slope. The results show that the trend of slope displacement is stable and that the degree of landslide danger is low. This work indicates that 3-D laser image scanning can supply multi-parameter, high precision real time data over long distances. | 18 | Transplantation of placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells reduces hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in rats by ameliorating the inflammatory response显示文摘Hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD)is a common cause of infant death.The purpose of our research was to explore the immunoregulatory mechanism of placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells(PD-MSCs)in HIBD treatment.Seven-day-old rat pups were randomly divided into HIBD,PD-MSC,fibroblast,and control groups.Forty-eight hours after HIBD induction,cells at a density of 5×104 cells/10µl were injected into the cerebral tissue in the PD-MSC and fibroblast groups.The TNF-α,interleukin-17(IL-17),interferon-γ(IFN-γ),and IL-10 levels were detected through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Regulatory T cell(Tregs)populations were detected through flow cytometry,and forkhead box P3(Foxp3)was measured through western blot analysis.Behavioral tests and gross and pathological examinations showed that PD-MSC treatment exerted significantly stronger neuroprotective effects than the other treatments.The expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines were substantially upregulated after HI injury.Compared with fibroblast treatment,PD-MSC treatment inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased the production of IL-10 in the ischemic hemispheres and peripheral blood serum(all P<0.01).Flow cytometry results showed a notable increase in the number of Tregs within the spleen of the HIBD group.Moreover,the number of Tregs and the Foxp3 expression levels were higher in the PD-MSC treatment group than in the HIBD and fibroblast groups(all P<0.01).Our research suggests that the mechanism of PD-MSC treatment for HIBD partially involves inflammatory response suppression. | Hongfang Ding Hui Zhang Huifang Ding Dong Li Xinhao Yi Xiaoxu Ma Ruijuan Li Mei Huang Xiuli Ju | 2017 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,8: | 10 |
| 19 | Ferroptosis in cancer and cancer immunotherapy显示文摘The hallmark of tumorigenesis is the successful circumvention of cell death regulation for achieving unlimited replication and immortality.Ferroptosis is a newly identified type of cell death dependent on lipid peroxidation which differs from classical programmed cell death in terms of morphology,physiology and biochemistry.The broad spectrum of injury and tumor tolerance are the main reasons for radiotherapy and chemotherapy failure.The effective rate of tumor immunotherapy as a new treatment method is less than 30%.Ferroptosis can be seen in radiotherapy,chemotherapy,and tumor immunotherapy;therefore,fer-roptosis activation may be a potential strategy to overcome the drug resistance mechanism of traditional cancer treatments.In this review,the characteristics and causes of cell death by lipid peroxidation in ferroptosis are briefly described.In addition,the three metabolic regulations of ferroptosis and its crosstalk with classical signaling pathways are summarized.Collectively,these findings sug-gest the vital role of ferroptosis in immunotherapy based on the interaction of ferroptosis with tumor immunotherapy,chemotherapy and radiotherapy,thus,indicating the remarkable potential of ferroptosis in cancer treatment. | Lei Zhao Xiaoxue Zhou Feng Xie Lei Zhang Haiyan Yan Jun Huang Chong Zhang Fangfang Zhou Jun Chen Long Zhang | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,2: | 10 |
| 20 | Application of Tertiary Amine Cationic Polyacrylamide with High Cationic Degree in Salt-free Dyeing of Reactive Dyes显示文摘Tertiary amine cationic polyacrylamide with high cationization degree was used as a new cationic agent to pretreat cotton with dip-pad-bake method. The obtained cationic cotton was dyed with reactive dyes in the ab-sence of electrolyte. The effects of the characteristics of the cationic agent and the pretreatment conditions on dye-ability of reactive dye were investigated. The results showed that the fixation and K/S values of the reactive dyes on the cationic cotton were improved compared with those on the untreated one in the presence of salt. Tests on fast-ness properties of the dyed cotton and fabric quality of the pretreated cotton were carried out and the results showed that wash and rub fastness of the salt-free dyeing were both satisfactory.
