Identification and characterization of rice blast resistance gene Pid4 by a combination of transcriptomic profiling and genome analysis显示文摘Map-based cloning of plant disease resistance (R) genes is time-consuming. Here, we reported the isolation of blast R gene Pid4 using comparative transcriptomic profiling and genome-wide sequence analysis. Pid4 encodes a coiled-coil nucleotide-binding site leucine-rich repeat(CC-NBS-LRR) protein and is constitutively expressed at diverse developmental stages in the rice variety Digu. The Pid4 protein is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. Introduction of Pid4 into susceptible rice cultivars confers race-specific resistance to leaf and neck blast. Amino acid sequence comparison and blast resistance spectrum tests showed that Pid4 is a novel R gene, different from the previously reported R genes located in the same gene cluster. A Pid4 Indel marker was developed to facilitate the identification of Pid4 in different rice varieties. We demonstrated that a plant R gene can be quickly isolated using transcriptomic profiling coupled with genome-wide sequence analysis. | Zhixiong Chen Wen Zhao Xiaobo Zhu Chengdong Zou Junjie Yin Mawsheng Chern Xiaogang Zhou Heng Ying Xin Jiang Yongzhen Li Haicheng Liao Mengping Cheng Weitao Li Min He Jing Wang Jichun Wang Bingtian Ma Jirui Wang Shigui Li Lihuang Zhu Xuewei Chen | 2018 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2018,45,12: | 7
Complex interplay between formation routes and natural organic matter modification controls capabilities of C_(60)nanoparticles(nC_(60)) to accumulate organic contaminants显示文摘Accumulation of organic contaminants on fullerene nanoparticles(nC_(60)) may significantly affect the risks of C_(60) in the environment. The objective of this study was to further understand how the interplay of nC_(60) formation routes and humic acid modification affects contaminant adsorption of nC_(60).Specifically,adsorption of 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene(a model nonionic, hydrophobic organic contaminant) on nC_(60) was greatly affected by nC_(60)formation route- the formation route significantly affected the aggregation properties of nC_(60),thus affecting the available surface area and the extent of adsorption via the pore-filling mechanism.Depending on whether nC_(60) was formed via the 'top-down' route(i.e.,sonicating C_(60) powder in aqueous solution) or 'bottom-up' route(i.e.,phase transfer from an organic solvent) and the type of solvent involved(toluene versus tetrahydrofuran),modification of nC_(60) with Suwannee River humic acid(SRHA) could either enhance or inhibit the adsorption affinity of nC_(60).The net effect depended on the specific way in which SRHA interacted with C_(60) monomers and/or C_(60) aggregates of different sizes and morphology, which determined the relative importance of enhanced adsorption from SRHA modification via preventing C_(60) aggregation and inhibited adsorption through blocking available adsorption sites. The findings further demonstrate the complex mechanisms controlling interactions between nC_(60) and organic contaminants, and may have significant implications for the life-cycle analysis and risk assessment of C_(60). | Lei Hou John D.Fortner Ximeng Wang Chengdong Zhang Lilin Wang Wei Chen | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1: | 5
A fast and effective method to perform paternity testing for Wolong giant pandas显示文摘Captive populations provide a precious genetic resource for endangered animals and a source of individuals for reintroduction to depleted habitats. Therefore, accuracy in determining paternity is of vital importance for managing captive populations and in selecting representative individuals of known genetic characteristics for release. In this study, we established a fast and effective method to conduct paternity testing for captive giant pandas in the Wolong population. This technique uses two highly polymor phic microsatellites initially, subsequent use of five less polymorphic markers and then paternity exclusion testing carried out using the giant panda paternity exclusion program we have developed. Our results revealed that (1) both sets of markers success- fully identified the real fathers in 25 cases of paternity testing and (2) the success rate of paternity exclusion varied with the degree of polymorphism of the markers used. Subsequently, we conducted correlation analysis between the success rates of paterni- ty identification with these markers, parameters of genetic diversity and tests of neutrality. We found that the paternity exclusion power of microsatellites was significantly correlated with the number of alleles (Na), expected heterozygosity (HE) and observed homozygosity statistic (FO) (all P < 0.05). From this, we developed a new variable, Na?HE/FO, showing a highly significant positive correlation with the resolution power of microsatellites (P = 0.001). Moreover, the first two highly polymorphic loci gave a 100% success rate of excluding non-paternal males because they yielded higher values of Na?HE/FO than the other five less pol- ymorphic markers. Thus, the Na?HE/FO parameter appears suitable to serve as a criterion for selecting microsatellite markers, which could be used for high-resolution molecular techniques of paternity determination among a range of captive animals besides giant pandas. | LI DeSheng CUI HengMin WANG ChengDong LING ShanShan HUANG Zhi ZHANG HeMin | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,24: | 4
Active tension optimal control for WT wheelchair robot by using a novel control law for holonomic or nonholonomic systems显示文摘The characteristics of interaction between WT wheelchair robot and stair environments is analyzed and possible patterns of WT wheelchair robot during the stair-climbing process are summarized, with criteria to determine the pattern of the wheelchair robot proposed. Aiming at the complicated mechanism of WT wheelchair robot with holonomic constraints and combining it with the dynamic programming, namely the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, a new control law called active tension optimal control is presented for holonomic or nonholonomic robotic systems, based on which one can make the wheelchair robot with a holonomic or nonholonomic mechanism track the expected reference input of constraint forces of holonomic or nonholinomic constraints as well as track the expected reference input of the generalized coordinate of each joint. The module STATEFLOW in MATLAB is used to simulate the entire stair-climbing process of WT wheelchair robot, and comparison is made between the output curves of each joint and the tension of the track and the expected reference input curves, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed control law. | WANG Jian WANG Ting YAO Chen LI XiaoFan WU ChengDong | 2014 | Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,11: | 3

Numerical Study of Effect of Compressor Swirling Flow on Combustor Design in a MTE显示文摘An effect of the swirling flow on the combustion performance is studied by the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) in a micro-gas turbine with a centrifugal compressor, dump diffuser and forward-flow combustor. The distributions of air mass and the Temperature Pattern Factor(as: Overall Temperature Distribution Factor-OTDF) in outlet are investigated with two different swirling angles of compressed air as 0° and 15° in three combustors. The results show that the influences of swirling flow on the air distribution and OTDF cannot be neglected. Compared with no-swirling flow, the air through outer liner is more, and the air through the inner liner is less, and the pressure loss is bigger under the swirling condition in the same combustor. The Temperature Pattern Factor changes under the different swirling conditions. | MU Yong WANG Chengdong LIU Cunxi LIU Fuqiang HU Chunyan XU Gang ZHU Junqiang | 2017 | Journal of Thermal Science2017,26,4: | 3
Selection of magnetic anion exchange resins for the removal of dissolved organic and inorganic matters显示文摘Four magnetic anion exchange resins (MAERs) were used as adsorbents to purify drinking water. The effect of water quality (pH, temperature, ionic strength, etc.) on the performance of MAER for the removal of dissolved organic matter (DOM) was also investigated. Among the four studied MAERs, the strong base resin named NDMP-1 with high water content and enhanced exchange capacity exhibited the highest removal rate of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) (48.9% removal rate) and UV-absorbing substances (82.4% removal rate) with a resin dose of 10 mL/L after 30 min of contact time. The MAERs could also effectively remove inorganic matter such as sulfate, nitrate and fluoride. Because of the higher specific UV absorbance (SUVA) value, the DOM in the raw water was found to be removed more effectively than that in the clarified water by NDMP resin. The temperature showed a weak influence on the removal of DOC from 6 to 26°C, while a relatively strong one at 36°C. The removal of DOM by NDMP was also affected to some extent by the pH value. Moreover, increasing the sulfate concentration in the raw water could decrease the removal rates of DOC and UV-absorbing substances. | Qiongjie Wang Aimin Li Jinnan Wang Chengdong Shuang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,11: | 2

The effects of coloring therapy on patients with generalized anxiety disorder显示文摘Generalized anxiety disorder(GAD)has harmful effects on physical and mental health and quality of life.Coloring therapy has been reported to have a positive effect on improving patient anxiety and depression. But there are no reported clinical trials examining their effectiveness as a treatment for GAD.This study was planned to evaluate the effectiveness of coloring therapy combined with conventional therapy in improving anxiety, depression, and positive and negative emotions with GAD.This randomized controlled study comprising 88 GAD patients was selected for intervention in different wards. The control group(n=45)was given conventional antianxiety medication and physical therapy, and the experimental group(n=43)received coloring therapy combined with conventional therapy. The Self-Rating Depression Scale,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Hamilton Depression Scale,Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),and Positive and Negative Affect Scale were assessed in both groups before and 3 weeks after the intervention. After the intervention, there were statistical differences in intra-and inter-group comparisons of anxiety, depression, and positive and negative mood scales in the experimental and control groups(p<.05).The minus in anxiety/positive emotions pre-and postintervention in the experimental group was statistically significant compared to that in anxiety/positive emotions pre-and postintervention in the control group(HAMA:d=1.45,95%confidence interval[CI](0.34,2.57),p=.011;SAS:d=3.87,95%CI(1.73,6.00),p=.001;positive:d=1.76,95%CI(0.17,3.34),p=.030).The minus in depressive/negative emotions pre-and postintervention in the experimental group was not statistically significant compared with that in depressive/negative emotions pre-and postintervention in the control group(p>.05).For GAD patients, adding coloring therapy based on conventional drug therapy and physical therapy can not only reduce depression and negative emotions but also have better effects on reducing anxiety and improving positive emotions than conventional therapy. | Bosomtwe Samuel Hongmei Wang Chengdong Shi Yongliang Pan Yuzi Yu Weiyu Zhu Zhou Jing | 2022 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2022,5,6: | 2

PRESSURE GRADIENT FROM THE CONTRIBUTION OF BOTH GEOTHERMAL AND GRAVITY IN THE LITHOSPHERE显示文摘The pressure gradient of the lithosphere is a key to explaining various geological processes, and varies also in time and space similar to the geothermal gradient. In this paper a correlation formula of geothermal gradients and pressure gradients was built with the thermocomprestion coefficients. Based on this formula, the article has studied the relation between the pressure gradients and the geothermal gradients in the lithosphere, and the results indicate that the pressure gradient in the lithosphere is nonlinear, and its minimum value is the lithostatic gradient, and that the pressure gradient of the lithosphere will increase obviously with the contribution of both geothermal and gravity, and could be twice times more than the lithostatic gradient. | HU Baoqun LU Guxian WANG Fangzhang SUN Zhanxue LIU Chengdong BAI Lihong | 2005 | Geotectonica et Metallogenia2005,29,2: | 1

Recent advances in amino acid sensing and new challenges for protein nutrition in aquaculture显示文摘From the conventional knowledge of protein nutrition to the molecular nutrition of amino acids, our understanding of protein/amino acid nutrition is rapidly increasing. Amino acids control cell growth and metabolism through two amino acid-sensingpathways, i.e. target of rapamycin complex 1 (TORC1) and the general control nonderepressible 2 (GCN2) signaling pathway. In the amino acid-abundant status, TORC1 dominates intracellular signaling and increases protein synthesis and cell growth. In contrast, amino acid deprivation actives GCN2 resulting in repression of general protein synthesis but facilitates the aminoacid transport and synthesis process. By integrating and coordinating nutrition and hormone signaling, TORC1 and GCN2control the switch of the catabolism and anabolism phase in most eukaryotes. Now, we appreciate that the availability ofindividual amino acids is sensed by intracellular sensors. These cutting-edge findings expand our knowledge of amino acidnutrition. Although the TORC1 and GCN2 were discovered decades ago, the study of molecular amino acid nutrition inaquaculture animals is still at its infancy. The aquaculture industry is highly dependent on the supply of fishmeal, which isthe major protein source in aquacultural animal diets. Some concerted efforts were conducted to substitute for fishmeal dueto limited supply of it. However, the concomitant issues including the unbalanced amino acid profile of alternative proteinsources limited the utilization of those proteins. Continued study of the molecular nutrition of amino acid in aquacultureanimals may be expected in the immediate future to expand our knowledge on the utilization of alternative protein sources. | Chengdong Liu Xuan Wang Huihui Zhou Kangsen Mai Gen He | 2019 | Marine Life Science & Technology2019,1,1: | 1

Electron-ion collider in China显示文摘Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as nuclei. As a future high energy nuclear physics project,an Electron-ion collider in China(EicC)has been proposed. It will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator,High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility(HIAF)which is currently under construction, together with a new electron ring. The proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons(with a po-larization of 80%)and protons(with a polarization of 70%)with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of(2–3)×1033 cm^(−2)·s^(−1).Polarized deuterons and Helium-3,as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium, will be also available at the EicC.The main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region, including 3D tomography of nucleon;the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment;the exotic states, especially those with heavy flavor quark contents. In addition, issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the EicC.In order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals,a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge technologies. This document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the globe. The EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EIC project in the United States. The success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China. | Daniele PAnderle Valerio Bertone Xu Cao Lei Chang Ningbo Chang Gu Chen Xurong Chen Zhuojun Chen Zhufang Cui Lingyun Dai Weitian Deng Minghui Ding Xu Feng Chang Gong Longcheng Gui Feng-Kun Guo Chengdong Han Jun He Tie-Jiun Hou Hongxia Huang Yin Huang KrešImir KumeričKi LPKaptari Demin Li Hengne Li Minxiang Li Xueqian Li Yutie Liang Zuotang Liang Chen Liu Chuan Liu Guoming Liu Jie Liu Liuming Liu Xiang Liu Tianbo Liu Xiaofeng Luo Zhun Lyu Boqiang Ma Fu Ma Jianping Ma Yugang Ma Lijun Mao Cédric Mezrag HervéMoutarde Jialun Ping Sixue Qin Hang Ren Craig DRoberts Juan Rojo Guodong Shen Chao Shi Qintao Song Hao Sun PawełSznajder Enke Wang Fan Wang Qian Wang Rong Wang Ruiru Wang Taofeng Wang Wei Wang Xiaoyu Wang Xiaoyun Wang Jiajun Wu Xinggang Wu Lei Xia Bowen Xiao Guoqing Xiao Ju-Jun Xie Yaping Xie Hongxi Xing Hushan Xu Nu Xu Shusheng Xu Mengshi Yan Wenbiao Yan Wencheng Yan Xinhu Yan Jiancheng Yang Yi-Bo Yang Zhi Yang Deliang Yao Zhihong Ye Peilin Yin C-PYuan Wenlong Zhan Jianhui Zhang Jinlong Zhang Pengming Zhang Yifei Zhang Chao-Hsi Chang Zhenyu Zhang Hongwei Zhao Kuang-Ta Chao Qiang Zhao Yuxiang Zhao Zhengguo Zhao Liang Zheng Jian Zhou Xiang Zhou Xiaorong Zhou Bingsong Zou Liping Zou | 2021 | Frontiers of physics2021,16,6: | 1
