Potential of phloroglucinol to improve erectile dysfunction associated with streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats显示文摘Objective: Diabetes is a common metabolic disease with several complications in its patients. Often, people living with diabetes develop erectile dysfunction (ED). The primary aim of this work was to investigate the effect of phloroglucinol in diabetes-induced ED in rats. Methods: Male Wistar rats were given 52 mg/kg of streptozotocin, by intraperitoneal injection, to induce diabetes and ED. Subsequently, animals were grouped into three groups: group 1, diabetic control;group 2, low-dose phloroglucinol (150 mg/kg body weight);and group 3, high-dose phloroglucinol (250 mg/kg body weight). A group of six normal rats served as a normal control. The rats were treated with phloroglucinol for six weeks and then were assessed for treatment effects. Sexual behavior, glycosylated hemoglobin Ale (HbAlc) values, serum testosterone, serum nitric oxide (NO), blood pressure and sperm count were measured after the end of treatment. Results: After a 6-week treatment period, the high dose of phloroglucinol significantly decreased HbAlc values in diabetic rats. Rats treated with phloroglucinol had increased serum testosterone, NO and sperm count. Animals treated with 250 mg/kg phloroglucinol performed similar to normal rats in the sexual behavioral study, suggesting the reversal of complications of ED. Conversely, a decrease in the blood pressure in treated groups was observed. Conclusion: The results highlight the protective effect of phloroglucinol in diabetes-induced ED in rats warranting further studies. | Syed Kashif Rema Razdan Ramanaiah Illuri | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2019,17,4: | 3
Loan growth and bank solvency:evidence from the Pakistani banking sector显示文摘Background:The dramatic loan growth and changes in the Pakistani banking system in mid-2000s have led to significant research attention on borrowers and lenders. This expansion and diversification in financial sector was driven by structural reforms, political stability and significant economic growth.Against this background, this study investigates the loan growth and risk-taking behavior of the banks during the expansionary periods of lending.Method:This study used dynamic two-step system generalized method of moment’s estimation technique, based on data taken from 32 banks in Pakistan over 2006-2014.Result:Loan growth has a significant effect on bank-specific and macroeconomicspecific variables.Loan growth in the previous year raises non-performing loans and decreases the solvency of banks with a time lag of many years. The driving force behind this phenomenon is weak prudential regulation among competitors, the asymmetric information of the borrowers, and, most importantly, that banks underestimate the risk of lending during credit booms. Conclusion:More regulatory measures are required to ensure a strong financial system when the volume of non-performing loan grows significantly. An increase in the capital requirement policy for rapidly growing banks is also needed because the problem of abnormal loan growth cannot be detected at the current time.At the same time, strong supervision is necessary to avoid the adverse consequences of borrower selection. | Muhammad Kashif Syed Faizan Iftikhar Khurram Iftikhar | 2016 | Financial Innovation2016,2,1: | 2

Overview of the aeroponic agriculture-An emerging technology for global food security显示文摘Traditionally, crops are cultivated in soil-based open field systems.Seasonality, environmental degradation, urbanization, and food security issues have replaced open-field systems with modern plant production systems.Soilless culture is one of the modern plant production systems, which involves much higher use of available resources. The presented study provides information about currently accessible soilless systems and discussed the aeroponic system.Compared to other soilless systems, aeroponic reduce water usage through continuous water circulation. However, the aeroponic is not entirely implemented among local farmers, and very few farmers have adopted the system due to the lack of research and technical information available in the literature. Therefore, this study was planned to provide information about the development and maintenance tasks required for practicing the aeroponic system. This study could provide knowledge to the researchers, farmers, and those people interested in practicing the aeroponic system. | Imran Ali Lakhiar Jianmin Gao Tabinda Naz Syed Farman Ali Chandio Mazhar Hussain Tunio Fiaz Ahmad Kashif Ali Solangi | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1: | 1

Indirect Vector Control of Linear Induction Motors Using Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation显示文摘Vector control schemes have recently been used to drive linear induction motors(LIM)in high-performance applications. This trend promotes the development of precise and efficient control schemes for individual motors. This research aims to present a novel framework for speed and thrust force control of LIM using space vector pulse width modulation(SVPWM)inverters. The framework under consideration is developed in four stages. To begin,MATLAB Simulink was used to develop a detailed mathematical and electromechanical dynamicmodel. The research presents a modified SVPWM inverter control scheme.By tuning the proportional-integral(PI)controller with a transfer function, optimized values for the PI controller are derived. All the subsystems mentioned above are integrated to create a robust simulation of the LIM’s precise speed and thrust force control scheme. The reference speed values were chosen to evaluate the performance of the respective system, and the developed system’s response was verified using various data sets. For the low-speed range,a reference value of 10m/s is used, while a reference value of 100 m/s is used for the high-speed range. The speed output response indicates that themotor reached reference speed in amatter of seconds,as the delay time is between 8 and 10 s.The maximum amplitude of thrust achieved is less than 400N,demonstrating the controller’s capability to control a high-speed LIM with minimal thrust ripple.Due to the controlled speed range, the developed system is highly recommended for low-speed and high-speed and heavy-duty traction applications. | Arjmand Khaliq Syed Abdul Rahman Kashif Fahad Ahmad Muhammad Anwar Qaisar Shaheen Rizwan Akhtar Muhammad Arif Shah Abdelzahir Abdelmaboud | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3: | 0
Bug Prioritization Using Average One Dependence Estimator显示文摘Automation software need to be continuously updated by addressing software bugs contained in their repositories. However, bugs have different levels of importance;hence,it is essential to prioritize bug reports based on their sever-ity and importance.Manually managing the deluge of incoming bug reports faces time and resource constraints from the development team and delays the resolu-tion of critical bugs. Therefore, bug report prioritization is vital. This study pro-poses a new model for bug prioritization based on average one dependence estimator;it prioritizes bug reports based on severity, which is determined by the number of attributes. The more the number of attributes, the more the severity. The proposed model is evaluated using precision,recall,F1-Score,accuracy,G-Measure,and Matthew’s correlation coefficient. Results of the proposed model are compared with those of the support vector machine(SVM)and Naive Bayes(NB)models.Eclipse and Mozilla datasetswere used as the sources of bug reports. The proposed model improved the bug repository management and out-performed the SVM and NB models.Additionally, the proposed model used a weaker attribute independence supposition than the former models, thereby improving prediction accuracy with minimal computational cost. | Kashif Saleem Rashid Naseem Khalil Khan Siraj Muhammad Ikram Syed Jaehyuk Choi | 2023 | Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,6: | 0
State of Health Estimation of LiFePO_(4) Batteries for Battery Management Systems显示文摘When considering the mechanism of the batteries, the capacity reduction at storage(when not in use)and cycling(during use)and increase of internal resistance is because of degradation in the chemical composition inside the batteries. To optimize battery usage,a battery management system(BMS)is used to estimate possible aging effects while different load profiles are requested from the grid. This is specifically seen in a case when the vehicle is connected to the net(online through BMS).During this process, the BMS chooses the optimized load profiles based on the least aging effects on the battery pack. The major focus of this paper is to design an algorithm/model for lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO4)batteries.The model of the batteries is based on the accelerated aging test data(data from the beginning of life till the end of life). The objective is to develop an algorithm based on the actual battery trend during the whole life of the battery.By the analysis of the test data, the complete trend of the battery aging and the factors on which the aging is depending on is identified, the aging model can then be recalibrated to avoid any differences in the production process during cell manufacturing. The validation of the model was carried out at the end by utilizing different driving profiles at different C-rates and different ambient temperatures.A Linear and non-linear model-based approach is used based on statistical data. The parameterization was carried out by dividing the data into small chunks and estimating the parameters for the individual chunks.Self-adaptive characteristic map using a lookup table was also used. The nonlinear model was chosen as the best candidate among all other approaches for longer validation of 8-month data with real driving data set. | Areeb Khalid Syed Abdul Rahman Kashif Noor Ul Ain Ali Nasir | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,11: | 0
Reno-protective effect of garlic extract against immobilization stress induced changes in rats显示文摘Objective: To examine immobilization stress-induced antioxidant defense alterations in rat kidney and the antioxidant effects of aqueous garlic extract in pre and post stress extract treatments. Methods: Albino rats were treated with aqueous extract of garlic both before and 6 h of immobilization stress. Pro-oxidant eminence of rat kidney was assessed by determining the levels of glutathione, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, glucose, uric acid, alkaline phosphatase and antioxidant enzymes activities. Results: In response to 6 h of immobilization stress, a significant rise in the level of kidney enzymes was recorded. However, antioxidant enzyme activities showed a sharp decline. Conclusions: The extract treatment before and after the stress reverted the activities of above mentioned enzymes towards their control values. Hence, garlic extract can be given as nutritional supplement for scavenging the free radicals generated in rat kidney. | Syed Kashif Zaidi Shakeel Ahmed Ansari Ghulam Md.Ashraf Mohammad Alam Jafri Shams Tabrez Naheed Banu | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,5: | 0
Thermal Conductivity of Complex Plasmas Using Novel Evan-Gillan Approach显示文摘The thermal conductivity of complex fluid materials(dusty plasmas) has been explored through novel Evan-Gillan homogeneous non-equilibrium molecular dynamic(HNEMD) algorithm. The thermal conductivity coefficient obtained from HNEMD is dependent on various plasma parameters(Γ, κ). The proposed algorithm gives accurate results with fast convergence and small size effect over a wide range of plasma parameters. The cross microscopic heat energy current is discussed in association with variation of temperature(1/Γ) and external perturbations(P_z). The thermal conductivity obtained from HNEMD simulations is found to be very good agreement and more reliable than previously known numerical techniques of equilibrium molecular dynamic, nonequilibrium molecular dynamic simulations. Our new investigations point to an effective conclusion that the thermal conductivity of complex dusty plasmas is dependent on an extensive range of plasma coupling(Γ) and screening parameter(κ) and it varies by the alteration in these parameters. It is also shown that a different approach is used for computations of thermal conductivity in 2D complex plasmas and can be appropriate method for behaviors of complex systems. | Aamir Shahzad Syed Irfan Haider Muhammad Kashif Muhammad Shahzad Shifa Tariq Munir Mao-Gang He | 2018 | Communications in Theoretical Physics2018,69,6: | 0
