2Impact of anthropogenic drivers on subaqueous topographical change in the Datong to Xuliujing reach of the Yangtze River显示文摘Changes of subaqueous topography in shallow offshore water pose safety risks for embankments,navigation,and ports.This study conducted measurements of subaqueous topography between Datong and Xuliujing in the Yangtze River using a Sea Bat 7125 multi-beam echo sounder,and the channel change from 1998 to 2013 was calculated using historical bathymetry data.The study revealed several important results:(1)the overall pattern of changes through the studied stretch of the river was erosion–deposition–erosion.Erosion with a volume 700×10~6m^3occurred in the upper reach,deposition of about 204×10~6m^3occurred in the middle reach,and erosion of about 602×10~6m^3occurred in the lower reach.(2)Dunes are the most common microtopographic feature,accounting for 64.3%of the Datong to Xuliujing reach,followed by erosional topography and flat river topography,accounting for 27.6%and 6.6%,respectively.(3)Human activities have a direct impact on the development of the microtopography.For instance,the mining of sand formed holes on the surface of dunes with lengths of 20–35 m and depths of 3–5 m.We concluded that the overall trend of erosion(net erosion volume of 468×10~6m^3)occurred in the study area mainly because of the decreased sediment discharge following the closure of the Three Gorges Dam.However,other human activities were also impact factors of topographic change.Use of embankments and channel management reduced channel width,restricted river meandering,and exacerbated the erosion phenomenon.Shuwei ZHENG Heqin CHENG Shengyu SHI Wei XU Quanping ZHOU Yuehua JIANG Fengnian ZHOU Minxiong CAO 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,7:10
3Sand mining impact on Poyang Lake: a case study based on high-resolution bathymetry and sub-bottom data显示文摘Poyang Lake in the Changjiang(Yangtze)River catchment has undergone frequent spring drought since 2003,and some researchers attributed this phenomenon to sand mining and the lakebed deformation in the outlet channel linking the lake with Changjiang River main channel.However,there is still a lack of high-resolution subaqueous geomorphological evidence of how sand mining led to lakebed deformation in the outlet channel.We examined the bed morphology and sub-bottom sedimentary structure of the outlet channel,using a multibeam echo sounder and sub-bottom profi ler in Poyang Lake.We found that:(1)the subaqueous micro-topography types of the outlet channel are characterized by sand mining disturbance,natural erosional topography,and fl at bed and dunes,accounting for 44.9%,21.4%,28.6%,and 5.1%of the channel area,respectively;and(2)sand mining activity aff ects the local bed topography extensively and signifi cantly.The depth of sandpits caused by sand mining varied from 1.4 m to 12 m deeper than the surrounding bed surface,with 4.41 m of depth increase on average.Hence,the large-scale high-intensity sand mining activities and their signifi cant geomorphic eff ects demand for an improved assessment for future management and longer-term sustainability.Because of the large-scale and ongoing high-intensity sand mining activities in the Poyang Lake outlet channel,these eff ects should raise caution in the future and contribute to monitoring eff orts that are essential to implement sustainable management solutions.The present study and techniques implemented can serve as a scientifi c reference for dam construction and sand mining within the Poyang Lake basin.Shuwei ZHENG Heqin CHENG Ming TANG Wei XU Enfeng LIU Shu GAO Jim BEST Yuehua JIANG Quanping ZHOU 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,4:3

5Mesenchymal stromal cells alleviate acute respiratory distress syndrome through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway显示文摘Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)have been considered a promising alternative for treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).However,there is significant heterogeneity in their therapeutic efficacy,largely owing to the incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic activities of MSCs.Here,we hypothesize that the cholinergic antiinflammatory pathway(CAP),which is recognized as a neuroimmunological pathway,may be involved in the therapeutic mechanisms by which MSCs mitigate ARDS.Using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and bacterial lung inflammation models,we found that inflammatory cell infiltration and Evans blue leakage were reduced and that the expression levels of choline acetyltransferase(ChAT)and vesicular acetylcholine transporter(VAChT)in lung tissue were significantly increased 6 hours after MSC infusion.When the vagus nerve was blocked orα7 nicotinic acetylcholine(ACh)receptor(α7nAChR)-knockout mice were used,the therapeutic effects of MSCs were significantly reduced,suggesting that the CAP may play an important role in the effects of MSCs in ARDS treatment.Our results further showed that MSC-derived prostaglandin E2(PGE2)likely promoted ACh synthesis and release.Additionally,based on the efficacy of nAChR andα7nAChR agonists,we found that lobeline,the nicotinic cholinergic receptor excitation stimulant,may attenuate pulmonary inflammation and alleviate respiratory symptoms of ARDS patients in a clinical study(ChiCTR2100047403).In summary,we reveal a previously unrecognized MSC-mediated mechanism of CAP activation as the means by which MSCs alleviate ARDS-like syndrome,providing insight into the clinical translation of MSCs or CAP-related strategies for the treatment of patients with ARDS.Xiaoran Zhang Xuxia Wei Yiwen Deng Xiaofeng Yuan Jiahao Shi Weijun Huang Jing Huang Xiaoyong Chen Shuwei Zheng Jieying Chen Keyu Chen Ruiming Xu Hongmiao Wang Weiqiang Li Shiyue Li Huimin Yi Andy Peng Xiang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,10:1

8Microstructure, mechanical properties and deformation characteristics of Al-Mg-Si alloys processed by a continuous expansion extrusion approach显示文摘In the present work,a double-pass continuous expansion extrusion forming(CEEF) process was proposed for an Al-Mg-Si alloy,in which the diameter of rods was gradually expanded.The microstructural evolution,mechanical properties and deformation characteristics were investigated by utilizing microstructural observations,mechanical testing and a finite element method coupled with a cellular automata model.The results showed that the strength and ductility of the double-pass CEEF processed Al-Mg-Si alloys were improved synchronously,especially in artificially aged alloys.The grain size of the processed Al-Mg-Si alloy rods was refined remarkably by continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX)and geometric dynamic recrystallization(GDRX),and the homogeneity of microstructure was gradually improved with increasing number of processing passes.The artificially aged alloy processed with double-pass CEEF and water quenching contained fine(sub)grains and high-density dislocations,which resulted in more needle-shaped β' precipitates and a larger precipitate aspect ratio than the as-received and air-cooled CEEF alloys owing to the different precipitation kinetics.The severe cumulate strain and microshear bands were found to accelerate CDRX and GDRX for grain refinement between adjacent positions of the parabolic metal flow due to the special temperature characteristics and la rge shear straining during the CEEF process.Ruiqing Lu Shuwei Zheng Jie Teng Jiamin Hu Dingfa Fu Jianchun Chen Guodong Zhao Fulin Jiang Hui Zhang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,21:0
9Sediment budget and riverbed deformation in the uppermost part of the lower Yangtze River, China显示文摘The Yangtze River(YR), similar to most large rivers in the world, has experienced significant changes in its depositional environment due to anthropogenic disturbances and climatic influences in recent decades. However, knowledge of how the river channel and bed deformation respond to these changes in the uppermost part of the lower YR, a 200-km-long branched channel, is limited. In the current study,historical bathymetric data collected from 1992 to 2013 and high-resolution multibeam echo sounder(MBES) data obtained from 2015 to 2016 were analyzed to address the changes in the depositional environment. The results indicate that the whole riverbed in the Hukou to Datong reach(HDR) has been scouring over the past two decades and this trend is expected to continue in the future due to decreasing sediment supply from the upper watershed. The amount of net erosion from the HDR during 1992-2013approximately accounted for 7.2% of total sediment load in the Yangtze River(5.02 billion metric tons at Datong). The evolution of the riverbed is trending towards stabilization even though the patterns of erosion and/or deposition in the HDR have dramatically changed in the last two decades. The part of the channel from the upper 100 km to Datong was found to be a sensitive reach that first showed erosion from 1992 to 2003 and showed deposition during 2003-2008, and then mild erosion during 2008-2013in response to environmental changes. 10Microstructure, mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of an Al-Mg alloy processed by the cyclical continuous expanded extrusion and drawing approach显示文摘Al-Mg alloys are an important class of non-heat treatable alloys in which Mg solute and grain size play essential role in their mechanical properties and plastic deformation behaviors.In this work,a cyclical continuous expanded extrusion and drawing(CCEED)process was proposed and implemented on an Al-3Mg alloy to introduce large plastic deformation.The results showed that the continuous expanded extrusion mainly improved the ductility,while the cold drawing enhanced the strength of the alloy.With the increased processing CCEED passes,the multi-pass cross shear deformation mechanism progressively improved the homogeneity of the hardness distributions and refined grain size.Continuous dynamic recrystallization played an important role in the grain refinement of the processed Al-3Mg alloy rods.Besides,the microstructural evolution was basically influenced by the special thermomechanical deformation conditions during the CCEED process.Ruiqing Lu Long Zhang Shuwei Zheng Dingfa Fu Jie Teng Jianchun Chen Guodong Zhao Fulin Jiang Hui Zhang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,1:0

12A randomized controlled trial to evaluate efficacy and safety of early conversion to a low-dose calcineurin inhibitor combined with sirolimus in renal transplant patients显示文摘Background:The calcineurin inhibitor(CNI)-based immune maintenance regimen that is commonly used after renal transplantation has greatly improved early graft survival after transplantation;however,the long-term prognosis of grafts has not been significantly improved.The nephrotoxicity of CNI drugs is one of the main risk factors for the poor long-term prognosis of grafts.Sirolimus(SRL)has been employed as an immunosuppressant in clinical practice for over 20 years and has been found to have no nephrotoxic effects on grafts.Presently,the regimen and timing of SRL application after renal transplantation vary,and clinical data are scarce.Multicenter prospective randomized controlled studies are particularly rare.This study aims to investigate the effects of early conversion to a low-dose CNI combined with SRL on the long-term prognosis of renal transplantation.Methods:Patients who receive four weeks of a standard regimen with CNI+mycophenolic acid(MPA)+glucocorticoid after renal transplantation in multiple transplant centers across China will be included in this study.At week 5,after the operation,patients in the experimental group will receive an additional administration of SRL,a reduction in the CNI drug doses,withdrawal of MPA medication,and maintenance of glucocorticoids.In addition,patients in the control group will receive the maintained standard of care.The patients’vital signs,routine blood tests,routine urine tests,blood biochemistry,serum creatinine,BK virus(BKV)/cytomegalovirus(CMV),and trough concentrations of CNI drugs and SRL at the baseline and weeks 12,24,36,48,72,and 104 after conversion will be recorded.Patient survival,graft survival,and estimated glomerular filtration rate will be calculated,and concomitant medications and adverse events will also be recorded.Conclusion:The study data will be utilized to evaluate the efficacy and safety of early conversion to low-dose CNIs combined with SRL in renal transplant patients.Xiang Zheng Weijie Zhang Hua Zhou Ronghua Cao Zhangfei Shou Shuwei Zhang Ying Cheng Xuchun Chen Chenguang Ding Zuofu Tang Ning Li Shaohua Shi Qiang Zhou Qiuyuan Chen Gang Chen Zheng Chen Peijun Zhou Xiaopeng Hu Xiaodong Zhang Ning Na Wei Wang 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,13:0

14Prediction and cause investigation of ozone based on a double-stage attention mechanism recurrent neural network显示文摘Ozone is becoming a significant air pollutant in some regions,and VOCs are essential for ozone prediction as necessary ozone precursors.In this study,we proposed a recurrent neural network based on a double-stage attention mechanism model to predict ozone,selected an appropriate time series for prediction through the input attention and temporal attention mechanisms,and analyzed the cause of ozone generation according to the contribution of feature parameters.The experimental data show that our model had an RMSE of 7.71μg/m3 and a mean absolute error of 5.97μg/m3 for 1-h predictions.The DA-RNN model predicted ozone closer to observations than the other models.Based on the importance of the characteristics,we found that the ozone pollution in the Jinshan Industrial Zone mainly comes from the emissions of petrochemical enterprises,and the good generalization performance of the model is proved through testing multiple stations.Our experimental results demonstrate the validity and promising application of the DA-RNN model in predicting atmospheric pollutants and investigating their causes.Yuanxin Zhang Fei Li Chaoqiong Ni Song Gao Shuwei Zhang Jin Xue Zhukai Ning Chuanming Wei Fang Fang Yongyou Nie Zheng Jiao 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,2:0
15Arabidopsis SYP121 acts as an ROP2 effector in the regulation of root hair tip growth显示文摘Tip growth is an extreme form of polarized cell expansion that occurs in all eukaryotic kingdoms to generate highly elongated tubular cells with specialized functions, including fungal hyphae, animal neurons, plant pollen tubes, and root hairs (RHs). RHs are tubular structures that protrude from the root epidermis to facilitate water and nutrient uptake, microbial interactions, and plant anchorage. RH tip growth requires polarized vesicle targeting and active exocytosis at apical growth sites. However, how apical exocytosis is spatially and temporally controlled during tip growth remains elusive. Here, we report that the Qa-Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) SYP121 acts as an effector of Rho of Plants 2 (ROP2), mediating the regulation of RH tip growth. We show that active ROP2 promotes SYP121 targeting to the apical plasma membrane. Moreover, ROP2 directly interacts with SYP121 and promotes the interaction between SYP121 and the R-SNARE VAMP722 to form a SNARE complex, probably by facilitating the release of the Sec1/Munc18 protein SEC11, which suppresses the function of SYP121. Thus, the ROP2-SYP121 pathway facilitates exocytic trafficking during RH tip growth.
