Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. Given that the H5N8 viruses are likely to continue to spread in wild birds, vaccination of poultry is highly recommended in high-risk countries to prevent H5N8 avian influenza. | Pengfei Cui Xianying Zeng Xuyong Li Yanbing Li Jianzhong Shi Conghui Zhao Zhiyuan Qu Yanwen Wang Jing Guo Wenli Gu Qi Ma Yuancheng Zhang Weipeng Lin Minghui Li Jingman Tian Dongxue Wang Xin Xing Yanjing Liu Shuxin Pan Yaping Zhang Hongmei Bao Liling Liu Guobin Tian Chengjun Li Guohua Deng Hualan Chen | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,4: | 12
LICOM Model Datasets for the CMIP6 Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘The datasets of two Ocean Model Intercomparison Project(OMIP)simulation experiments from the LASG/IAP Climate Ocean Model, version 3(LICOM3),forced by two different sets of atmospheric surface data, are described in this paper. The experiment forced by CORE-II(Co-ordinated Ocean–Ice Reference Experiments,Phase II)data(1948–2009)is called OMIP1,and that forced by JRA55-do(surface dataset for driving ocean–sea-ice models based on Japanese 55-year atmospheric reanalysis)data(1958–2018)is called OMIP2.First,the improvement of LICOM from CMIP5 to CMIP6 and the configurations of the two experiments are described.Second, the basic performances of the two experiments are validated using the climatological-mean and interannual time scales from observation. We find that the mean states, interannual variabilities, and long-term linear trends can be reproduced well by the two experiments. The differences between the two datasets are also discussed. Finally, the usage of these data is described. These datasets are helpful toward understanding the origin system bias of the fully coupled model. | Pengfei LIN Zhipeng YU Hailong LIU Yongqiang YU Yiwen LI Jirong JIANG Wei XUE Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Mengrong DING Zhikuo SUN Yaqi WANG Yao MENG Weipeng ZHENG Jinfeng MA | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,3: | 9
The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. The crucial role of FGOALS as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences is highlighted by demonstrating the model's performances in the simulation of the evolution of Earth's climate from the past to the future. | TianJun Zhou Bin Wang YongQiang Yu YiMin Liu WeiPeng Zheng LiJuan Li Bo Wu PengFei Lin Zhun Guo WenMin Man Qing Bao AnMin Duan HaiLong Liu XiaoLong Chen Bian He JianDong Li LiWei Zou XiaoCong Wang LiXia Zhang Yong Sun WenXia Zhang | 2018 | Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,4: | 6
Photoelectrocatalytic oxidation of GMP on an ITO electrode modified with clay/[Ru(phen)_2(dC18bpy)]^(2+) hybrid film显示文摘An indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode modified with monolayer clay/[Ru(phen)2(dC18bpy)]2+ (phen= 1,10-phenanthroline, dC18bpy = 4,4′-dioctadecyl-2,2′ bipyridyl) hybrid film has been fabricated by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method. Atomic force microscopy revealed that the single-layered hybrid film of clay/[Ru(phen)2(dC18bpy)]2+ (denoted as Clay-Ru) was closely packed at a surface pressure of 25 mN-m-1 and had a thickness of 3.4±0.5 nm. Cyclic voltammograms showed that the redox current of Ru(Ⅱ) complex decreased when incorporated into the clay film, suggesting that the clay layer acts as a barrier against electron transfer. When applied to oxidizing the mononucleotide of guanosine 5′-monophosphate (GMP), a large catalytic oxidative current was achieved on the Clay-Ru(Ⅱ) modified ITO electrode at the external potential above 900 mV (vs. Ag|AgCl|KCl ) and, more significantly, this response was further enhanced by light irradiation (λ>360 nm), in which the photocurrent is increased about 11 times in comparison with that of a bare ITO. Mechanism of the photoelectrocatalytic effect was proposed in terms of the reduction of the photoelectrochemically generated Ru(Ⅲ) complex in the Clay-Ru film by GMP. | CHANG XueQin, WANG Shun, LIN DaJie, GUAN WeiPeng, ZHOU Huan & HUANG ShaoMing Nano-materials and Chemistry Key Laboratory, Wenzhou University, Wenzhou 325027, China | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,3: | 4
CAS-FGOALS Datasets for the Two Interglacial Epochs of the Holocene and the Last Interglacial in PMIP4显示文摘Two versions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model(CASFGOALS),version f3-L and g3,are used to simulate the two interglacial epochs of the mid-Holocene and the Last Interglacial in phase 4 of the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project(PMIP4),which aims to study the impact of changes in orbital parameters on the Earth’s climate.Following the PMIP4 experimental protocols, four simulations for the mid-Holocene and two simulations for the Last Interglacial have been completed, and all the data, including monthly and daily outputs for the atmospheric, oceanic, land and sea-ice components, have been released on the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node. These datasets contribute to PMIP4 and CMIP6(phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project)by providing the variables necessary for the two interglacial periods. In this paper, the basic information of the CAS-FGOALS models and the protocols for the two interglacials are briefly described, and the datasets are validated using proxy records. Results suggest that the CAS-FGOALS models capture the large-scale changes in the climate system in response to changes in solar insolation during the interglacial epochs, including warming in mid-to-high latitudes, changes in the hydrological cycle, the seasonal variation in the extent of sea ice,and the damping of interannual variabilities in the tropical Pacific.Meanwhile, disagreements within and between the models and the proxy data are also presented. These datasets will help the modeling and the proxy data communities with a better understanding of model performance and biases in paleoclimate simulations. | Weipeng ZHENG Yongqiang YU Yihua LUAN Shuwen ZHAO Bian HE Li DONG Mirong SONG Pengfei LIN and Hailong LIU | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 2
Eddy-resolving Simulation of CAS-LICOM3 for Phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘A 61-year(1958–2018)global eddy-resolving dataset for phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project has been produced by the version 3 of Chinese Academy of Science, the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics/Institute of Atmospheric Physics(LASG/IAP)Climate system Ocean Model(CAS-LICOM3).The monthly and a part of the surface daily data in this study can be accessed on the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node.Besides the details of the model and experiments, the evolutions and spatial patterns of large-scale and mesoscale features are also presented. The mesoscale features are reproduced well in the high-resolution simulation,as the mesoscale activities can contribute up to 50%of the total SST variability in eddy-rich regions. Also, the large-scale circulations are remarkably improved compared with the low-resolution simulation, such as the climatological annual mean SST(the RMSE is reduced from 0.59°C to 0.47°C,globally)and the evolution of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The preliminary evaluation also indicates that there are systematic biases in the salinity, the separation location of the western boundary currents, and the magnitude of eddy kinetic energy. All these biases are worthy of further investigation. | Yiwen LI Hailong LIU Mengrong DING Pengfei LIN Zipeng YU Yongqiang YU Yao MENG Yunlong LI Xiaodong JIAN Jinrong JIANG Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Yaqi WANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Jinfeng MA Weipeng ZHENG and Pengfei WANG | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 1

Cognitive impairment in cerebral small vessel disease induced by hypertension显示文摘Hypertension is a primary risk factor for the progression of cognitive impairment caused by cerebral small vessel disease, the most common cerebrovascular disease.Howeve r,the causal relationship between hypertension and cerebral small vessel disease remains unclear.Hypertension has substantial negative impacts on brain health and is recognized as a risk factor for cerebrovascular disease.Chronic hypertension and lifestyle factors are associated with risks for stro ke and dementia, and cerebral small vessel disease can cause dementia and stroke.Hypertension is the main driver of cerebral small vessel disease, which changes the structure and function of cerebral vessels via various mechanisms and leads to lacunar infarction, leukoaraiosis, white matter lesions, and intracerebral hemorrhage, ultimately res ulting in cognitive decline and demonstrating that the brain is the to rget organ of hypertension. This review updates our understanding of the pathogenesis of hypertensioninduced cerebral small vessel disease and the res ulting changes in brain structure and function and declines in cognitive ability. We also discuss drugs to treat cerebral small vessel disease and cognitive impairment. | Weipeng Wei Denglei Ma Lin Li Lan Zhang | 2024 | Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,7: | 0
Significantly improved high k dielectric performance:Rare earth oxide as a passivation layer laminated with TiO_(2) film显示文摘In order to achieve a super gate dielectric performance, rare earth oxides featuring for large band gap, good thermodynamic stability and relatively high k value were selected to be laminated with TiO_(2)film to prepare bilayer dielectric films. As an example, the microstructure, morphology, band gap structure and electrical performance of TiO_(2)-Y_(2)O_(3)bilayer films were systematically investigated. Results show that stacking sequence of TiO_(2)and Y_(2)O_(3)sublayers has a significant impact on the dielectric performance and Y_(2)O_(3)film as a passivation layer can effectively improve electrical properties.Besides, the electrical behaviors analysis of TiO_(2)-Y_(2)O_(3),Y_(2)O_(3)-TiO_(2),Y_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)samples was carried out by impedance spectra and equivale nt circuit. The result shows that TiO_(2)-Y_(2)O_(3)/Si sample holds the largest internal re sistance of 74665Ωamong four samples. Moreover, the most outstanding properties of Pt/TiO_(2)-Y_(2)O_(3)/Si capacitor are achieved by varying the thickness of sublayers and annealing temperature.500℃-annealed bilayer film with 17 nm-TiO_(2)and 3-nm Y_(2)O_(3)displays a k value of 28.24,which is more than 1.4 times that of current commercial HfO_(2).Further,Schottky emission was determined to be leakage current transport mechanism for TiO_(2)-Y_(2)O_(3)bilayer films.Inspired by this result, the electrical performance of more general Pt/TiO_(2)-REOs/Si MOS capacitors(RE=Sc,La,Ce,Gd and Pr)was measured. The combination of TiO_(2)film and REOs passivation layer with the satisfying performance provides promising candidates for future Si-based integrated circuit(IC). | Shuan Li Weipeng Wang Youyu Lin Linlin Wang Xingguo Li | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,9: | 0
Study on response of metal wire in thermoacoustic imaging显示文摘Thermoacoustic imaging(TAI)is an emerging high-resolution and high-contrast imaging technology. In recent years, metal wires have been used in TAI experiments to quantitatively evaluate the spatial resolution of different systems. However, there is still a lack of analysis of the response characteristics and principles of metal wires in TAI.Through theoretical and simulation analyses, this paper proposes that the response of metal(copper)wires during TAI is equivalent to the response of antennas.More critically, the response of the copper wire is equivalent to the response of a half-wave dipole antenna. When its length is close to half the wavelength of the incident electromagnetic wave,it obtains the best response. In simulation, when the microwave excitation frequencies are 1.3 GHz,3.0 GHz,and 5.3 GHz,and the lengths of copper wires are separately set to 11 cm,5 cm,and 2.5 cm,the maximum SAR distribution and energy coupling effciency are obtained. This result is connected with the best response of half-wave dipole antennas with lengths of 11 cm,4.77 cm,and 2.7 cm under the theoretical design, respectively.Regarding the further application,TAI can be used to conduct guided minimally invasive surgery on surgical instrument imaging. Thus, this paper indicated that results can also guide the design of metal surgical instruments utilized in different microwave frequencies. | Zheng Liang Weipeng Wang Shuaiqi Qiao Lin Huang | 2022 | Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2022,15,3: | 0
The Super-large Ensemble Experiments of CAS FGOALS-g3显示文摘A super-large ensemble simulation dataset with 110 members has been produced by the fully coupled model FGOALS-g3 developed by researchers at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences. This is the first dataset of large ensemble simulations with a climate system model developed by a Chinese modeling center. The simulation has the largest realizations up to now worldwide in terms of single-model initial-condition large ensembles. Each member includes a historical experiment(1850-2014)and an experiment(2015-99)under the very high greenhouse gas emissions Shared Socioeconomic Pathway scenario(SSP5-8.5).The dataset includes monthly and daily temperature, precipitation, and other variables, requiring storage of 275 TB.Additionally, the surface air temperature(SAT)and land precipitation simulated by the FGOALS-g3 super-large ensemble have been validated and projected. The ensemble can capture the response of SAT and land precipitation to external forcings well, and the internal variabilities can be quantified. The availability of more than 100 realizations will help researchers to study rare events and improve the understanding of the impact of internal variability on forced climate changes. | Pengfei LIN Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Hailong LIU Wenxia ZHANG Xiaolong CHEN Jie JIANG Mengrong DING Wenmin MAN Jinrong JIANG Xu ZHANG Yuewen DING Wenrong BAI Chenyang JIN Zipeng YU Yiwen LI Weipeng ZHENG Tianjun ZHOU | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,10: | 0
