| 1 | Effect of cadmium on photosynthetic pigments,lipid peroxidation,antioxidants,and artemisinin in hydroponically grown Artemisia annua显示文摘The effects of different cadmium(Cd) concentrations(0,20,60,and 100 μmol/L) on hydroponically grown Artemisia annua L.were investigated.Cd treatments applied for 0,4,12,24,72,144,216,and 336 hr were assessed by measuring the changes in photosynthetic pigments,electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde(MDA) and antioxidants(ascorbic acid and glutathione),while the artemisinin content was tested after 0,12,144,216,and 336 hr.A significant decrease was observed in photosynthetic pigment levels over time with increasing Cd concentration.Chlorophyll b levels were more affected by Cd than were chlorophyll a or carotenoid levels.The cell membrane was sensitive to Cd stress,as MDA content in all treatment groups showed insignificant differences from the control group,except at 12 hr treatment time.Ascorbic acid(AsA) content changed slightly over time,while glutathione(GSH) content took less time to reach a maximum as Cd concentration increased.Cd was found to promote synthesis and accumulation of artemisinin,especially at concentrations of 20 and 100 μmol/L.In conclusion,Cd stress can damage to photosynthetic pigments,and vigorously growing A.annua showed a strong tolerance for Cd stress.Appropriate amounts of added Cd aided synthesis and accumulation of artemisinin. | Xuan Li Manxi Zhao Lanping Guo Luqi Huang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8: | 9 |
| 2 | Effects of ecological factors on secondary metabolites and inorganic elements of Scutellaria baicalensis and analysis of geoherblism显示文摘This study analyzed the effects of ecological factors on secondary metabolites of Scutellaria baicalensis using two sources:92individual roots of S.baicalensis from all over China,and secondary metabolites,medicinal materials and inorganic element contents obtained from the testing of 92 S.baicalensis rhizosphere soil samples.The study used environmental data from the Genuine Medicinal Material Spatial Analysis Database.Most of the chemical constituents of S.baicalensis were negatively correlated to latitude and positively correlated to temperature;generally,the contents of 21 chemical constituents were higher at low latitudes than that at high latitudes.By gradual regression analysis,it was found that the content of baicalin in S.baicalensis was negatively correlated to latitude and generally the content of inorganic elements in soil was excessively high(excluding Mg and Ca),which has a negative effect on the accumulation of chemical constituents in S.baicalensis.Based on the cluster analysis of 21 constituents,S.baicalensis from different places of origin was divided into two groups,and S.baicalensis was not genuine only in a specific small region.Within the zone from Chifeng,Inner Mongolia to Taibai,Shaanxi is suitable for accumulation of secondary metabolites of S.baicalensis and such a zone represents a suitable distribution and potential genuine producing area. | GUO LanPing WANG Sheng ZHANG Ji YANG Guang ZHAO ManXi MA WeiFeng ZHANG XiaoBo LI Xuan HAN BangXing CHEN NaiFu HUANG LuQi | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,11: | 7 |
| 3 | Biodegradation of n-hexadecane by bacterial strains B1 and B2 isolated from petroleum-contaminated soil显示文摘Two hydrocarbon-biodegrading bacterial strains,B1 and B2,were isolated from petroleum-contaminated soil collected from Tianjin,China.The strains were identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa(B1) and Acinetobacter junii(B2).The degradation rate of n-hexadecane by B1 and B2 reached 96% and 78% respectively after 7 days,though the strains employed different mechanisms of degradation.The results showed that B2 was not able to use glucose as carbon source.B1 could produce glycolipid surfactants using glucose as the carbon source,according to the results of blue agar plate analysis and thin layer chromatography(TLC),and the bacterial culture of B1 had a high oil discharge and emulsification activity.Both B1 and B2 could produce biosurfactants with hexadecane as the sole carbon source,but their modes of action were different.The carbon source was found to affect the cell surface hydrophobicity.Cell surface hydrophobicity was poor with glucose as the carbon source,but enhanced when hexadecane was used as the carbon source. | LIU Tao WANG FengHua GUO LanPing LI XiaoLiang YANG XiaoJin LIN Ai Jun | 2012 | Science China Chemistry2012,55,9: | 4 |

| 8 | Visualizing the spatial distribution and alteration of metabolites in continuously cropped Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge using MALDI-MSI显示文摘Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge(SMB)has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Growing clinical usage has led to a huge demand for artificial planting of SMB.Thus,continuous cropping of SMB is an important challenge that needs to be addressed.Continuous cropping can alter the metabolic profile of plants,resulting in poor growth and low yield.In this study,we tried to image the spatial location and variation of endogenous metabolites in continuously cropped SMB using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging(MALDIMSI).Spatially resolved expressions of tanshinones,salvianolic acids,polyamines,phenolic acids,amino acids,and oligosaccharides in normal and continuously cropped SMB roots were compared.The expressions of dihydrotanshinone Ⅰ,tanshinone Ⅱ A,dehydromiltirone,miltirone,dehydrotanshinone ⅡA,spermine,salvianolic acid B/E,tetrasaccharide,and pentasaccharide in continuously cropped SMB roots were much lower than those in normal roots.There was little difference in the expressions of caffeic acid and salvianolic acid A in normal and continuously cropped SMB roots.Ferulic acid was more widely distributed in xylem of normal SMB but strongly expressed in xylem,phloem,and cambium of continuously cropped SMB.The spatially resolved metabolite information enhances our understanding of the metabolic signature of continuously cropped SMB and also provides insights into the metabolic effects of continuous cropping in other plants. | Chenglong Sun Li Cui Bingqian Zhou Xiao Wang Lanping Guo Wei Liu | 2022 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,5: | 1 |

| 10 | Two-stage reproduction derived from cells of thallus could directly contribute to seeds for green tidal algal Enteromorpha(Ulva) prolifera/clathrata bloom,with disclosure of their ephemeral trait显示文摘Green tidal algal Enteromorpha species complete their life cycles by the isomorphic alternation of generations.The provenance of green tide caused by them in the western Yellow Sea has been disputed. The cell reproduction derived from adult thallus was observed on E. clathrata collected from Shantou City, Guangdong Province in this study. Subsequently, it further found that E. proliferia collected from Qingdao City, Shandong Province and Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, produced reproductive cells by somatic cells of its early infantile thallus or branch. The latter is functionally similar to that the seedlings of red alga Porphyra yezoensis produce the monospores, and could exquisitely explain the ephemeral or opportunistic trait and environmental adaptation ability of Enteromorpha species. Changes in growth conditions may induce the two types of cell reproduction.They contribute to the bloom, and can effectively reveal the seasonally occurring large-scale and on-year and offyear phenomenon. The latter may have played a decisive role in its formation. This paper analyses the legal status of the species name, the type of generation during bloom, ephemeral traits, the role of microscopic propagule, the area of origin, on-year and off-year phenomenon, early warning and prevention and control of the species, and so on.
