| 2 | Pyogenic liver abscess: Changing patterns in approach显示文摘AIM: To define optimum management of the pyogenic liver abscess and assess new trends in treatment. METHODS: One hundred and sixty nine patients with pyogenic liver abscess managed at Sher-i-Kashmir In- stitute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, Kashmir (India) from July 2001 to August 2006 were studied to evaluate and define the optimum treatment. RESULTS: Mortality in the surgically treated group of patients was 9.4% (12/119), while those treated non-surgically had a fatality rate of 16.66% (7/42). Multiple liver abscesses treated surgically had a surprisingly low mortality of 30%. The biliary tract (64.97%) was the most common cause of liver abscess. Multiple abscesses, mixed organisms and abscess complications are all associated with a significantly increased mortality. However, the lethality of the primary disease process was the most important factor in determining survival.CONCLUSION: Transperitoneal surgical drainage and antibiotics are the mainstay of treatment. | 5 | NS1 antigen: A new beam of light in the early diagnosis of dengue infection显示文摘Objective: To evaluate NS1 antigen detection ELISA for the early laboratory diagnosis of dengue virus infection. Methods: The present study was conducted to evaluate the overall positivity of NS1 antigen detection ELISA and its comparison with viral RNA detection via real time PCR and Ig M antibodies detection by ELISA. Results: A total of 1 270 serum samples were tested 86%(1 097/1 270) were detected positive by one or more than one diagnostic test. | 6 | 弯曲疲劳后4D-C/C复合材料的抗弯强度及热膨胀性能(英文)显示文摘采用液相浸渍炭化技术,在压力为75MPa下制备出4D-C/C复合材料,并进行高温热处理。研究静态和动态加载条件下,材料沿厚度方向的弯曲性能及断裂行为。结果表明,循环次数达到10×105次、频率为10 Hz时,材料的临界弯曲疲劳极限是静态弯曲强度的80%。静态弯曲加载情况下,C/C复合材料失效机制取决于试样底层炭纤维的取向。循环疲劳载荷作用下,其失效机制包括基体开裂、纤维-基体界面弱化及纤维断裂。复合材料在循环加载过程中界面结合强度降低,并释放内应力,故增强了纤维拔出以及复合材料的假塑性,疲劳加载后其剩余弯曲强度增加10%左右,而模量降低。疲劳载荷引起材料基体缺陷和裂纹数量的增加及纤维断裂,削弱了长度方向上的热膨胀,使材料热膨胀系数降低。 | Wajed Zaman 李克智 李伟 Hira Zaman Khurshid Ali | 2014 | 新型炭材料2014,29,3: | 6 |

| 9 | Is intra-operative cholangiography necessary during laparoscopic cholecystectomy? A multicentre rural experience from a developing world country显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) in nonteaching rural hospitals of a developing country without intra-operative cholangiography (IOC). To evaluate the possibility of reduction of costs and hospital stay for patients undergoing LC.METHODS: A prospective analysis of patients with symptomatic benign diseases of gall bladder undergoing LC in three non-teaching rural hospitals of Kashmir Valley from Jan 2001 to Jan 2007. The cohort represented a sample of patients requiring LC, aged 13 to 78 (mean 47.2) years. Main outcome parameters included mortality, complications, re-operation, conversion to open procedure without resorting to IOC, reduction in costs borne by the hospital, and the duration of hospital stay.RESULTS: Twelve hundred and sixty-seven patients (976 females/291 males) underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Twenty-three cases were converted to open procedures; 12 patients developed port site infection, nobody died because of the procedure. One patient had common bile duct (CBD) injury, 4 patients had biliary leak, and 4 patients had subcutaneous emphysema. One cholecystohepatic duct was detected and managed intraoperatively, 1 patient had retained CBD stones, while 1 patient had retained cystic duct stones. Incidental gallbladder malignancy was detected in 2 cases. No long-term complications were detected up to now.CONCLUSION: LC can be performed safely even in non-teaching rural hospitals of a developing country provided proper equipment is available and the surgeons and other team members are well trained in the procedure. It is stressed that IOC is not essential to prevent biliary tract injuries and missed CBD stones. | 10 | Preparation and Control of the Formation of Single Core and Clustered Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications Using a Versatile Amphiphilic Diblock Copolymer显示文摘We report the application of a versatile diblock copolymer,poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane)(PEO-b-PγMPS),to prepare nanocrystals such as iron oxide nanoparticles or quantum dots,with either a single core or multi-core cluster,for biomedical applications.This amphiphilic copolymer comprises both a hydrophilic PEO segment and a hydrophobic segment with a“surface anchoring moiety”(the silane group)which can interact effectively with the hydrophobic nanocrystals through ligand exchange.One of the unique features of this work is that we can control the formation of either single core nanoparticles or multi-core nanoclusters by simply varying the conditions of ligand exchange and aging of the mixture of block copolymer and nanoparticles without needing to change the copolymer.The morphologies of the resulting single core nanoparticles or multi-core nanoclusters were confirmed by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy.The clustered nanoparticles exhibit enhanced physicochemical properties that are beyond those expected from a simple accumulation of individual nanoparticles.Additionally,the hybrid nanoparticles containing both magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and optical quantum dots obtained using our strategy provide have combined magnetic and optical functionalities that allow for potential new and expanded biomedical applications,as demonstrated by their use for magnetic resonance imaging and biomarker-targeted cell imaging. | Hongwei Chen Julie Yeh Liya Wang Hafsa Khurshid Nan Peng Andrew YWang Hui Mao | 2010 | Nano Research2010,3,12: | 3 |
| 11 | Comparative investigation of the free radical scavenging potential and anticancer property of Diospyros blancoi(Ebenaceae)显示文摘Objective: To investigate the comparative effects of Diospyros blancoi(Ebenaceae)leaves(DBL), root bark(DBRB) and stem bark(DBSB) on free radicals and cancer.Methods: The polyphenol contents, antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties were determined using standard spectrophotometric methods. Cytotoxicity and anticancer activities were performed on brine shrimp nauplii and Ehrlich ascite carcinoma cells, respectively.Results: Among the extracts, DBSB showed the highest total antioxidant capacity and reducing capacity on ferrous ion. Based on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities, DBSB showed(95.760 ± 0.343)% and(67.460 ± 2.641)%scavenging with IC50of(3.10 ± 0.17) and(50.00 ± 3.11) mg/m L, respectively. The IC50 values of standard butylated hydroxytoluene and catechin(CA) for 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radicals were(8.50 ± 0.25) and(75.00 ± 0.14) mg/m L,respectively suggesting that DBSB had a significant(P < 0.05) radical scavenging activity than standards. In lipid peroxidation inhibition assay, the inhibitory activity of the extracts and the standard was in the following order: DBSB > DBRB > CA > DBL.Also, the phenolic [(139.91 ± 3.924) mg gallic acid equivalent/g] and flavonoid contents[(412.00 ± 16.70) mg catechin equivalent/g)] of DBSB were higher than that of other extracts. | 13 | 孟加拉吉大港区学龄前儿童眼病发生率研究(英文)显示文摘目的:研究吉大港区学龄前儿童的眼病发生率情况。方法:随机横断面抽样调查,研究孟加拉吉大港区学龄前儿童的眼病发生率。对60所托儿所4~6岁学龄前儿童进行记录,走访且检查眼睛。根据性别、年龄、视力障碍和眼部疾病的诱因,分析所获得的数据。结果:对60所托儿所共计900例学龄前儿童进行检查,其中男性儿童占52.6%,女性儿童占47.4%。年龄范围为4~6岁不等。平均年龄为5.47±0.64。在学龄前儿童中,眼病发生率为16.89%,通常疾病为7.66%儿童存在屈光不正,其次3.66%患结膜炎,2.77%患睑缘炎,1.66%患鼻泪管阻塞(NDO),0.88%患感染性结膜炎,0.33%患麦粒肿,0.44%患睑板腺囊肿。其中1.11%患弱视,0.77%患斜视,0.11%患发育性白内障,0.33%患角膜混浊,是一个值得关注的问题。结论:研究学龄前儿童的眼病发生率可以很容易地确定可持续视力筛查方案,如果及时采取治疗能够有效降低眼部疾病的患病率和视力障碍。目前的研究表明,未对屈光不正进行矫正是学龄前儿童视力障碍的主要原因。 | Mezbah Uddin Rokiah Omar Victor Feizal Khurshid Alam | 2017 | 国际眼科杂志2017,17,1: | 2 |
