| 1 | Towards an Artificial Intelligence Framework for Data-Driven Prediction of Coronavirus Clinical Severity显示文摘The virus SARS-CoV2,which causes the Coronavirus disease COVID-19 has become a pandemic and has spread to every inhabited continent.Given the increasing caseload,there is an urgent need to augment clinical skills in order to identify from among the many mild cases the few that will progress to critical illness.We present a first step towards building an artificial intelligence(AI)framework,with predictive analytics(PA)capabilities applied to real patient data,to provide rapid clinical decision-making support.COVID-19 has presented a pressing need as a)clinicians are still developing clinical acumen given the disease’s novelty,and b)resource limitations in a rapidly expanding pandemic require difficult decisions relating to resource allocation.The objectives of this research are:(1)to algorithmically identify the combinations of clinical characteristics of COVID-19 that predict outcomes,and(2)to develop a tool with AI capabilities that will predict patients at risk for more severe illness on initial presentation.The predictive models learn from historical data to help predict specifically who will develop acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS),a severe outcome in COVID-19.Our experimental results based on two hospitals in Wenzhou,Zhejang,China identify features most predictive of ARDS in COVID-19 initial presentation which would not have stood out to clinicians.A mild increase in elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)(a liver enzyme)),a presence of myalgias(body aches),and an increase in hemoglobin,in this order,are the clinical features,on presentation,that are the most predictive.Those two centers’COVID-19 case series symptoms on initial presentation can help predict severe outcomes.Predictive models that learned from historical data of patients from two Chinese hospitals achieved 70%to 80%accuracy in predicting severe cases. | Xiangao Jiang Megan Coffee Anasse Bari Junzhang Wang Xinyue Jiang Jianping Huang Jichan Shi Jianyi Dai Jing Cai Tianxiao Zhang Zhengxing Wu Guiqing He Yitong Huang | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,4: | 15 |

| 3 | An imine-linked covalent organic framework as the host material for sulfur loading in lithium–sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium–sulfur(Li–S) batteries have high theoretical specific capacity, providing new opportunities for the next generation of secondary battery. Covalent organic framework(COF) as a new porous crystalline material has been used as the host material in Li–S battery to improve the cell's cycling stability. In this paper, an imine-linked TAPB-PDA-COF was applied as the host material for sulfur loading(60%) in Li–S battery. The TAPB-PDA-COF has a beehive-like morphology with high thermal stability(up to 500 ℃).In the electrochemical experiment, the performance of the composite cathode with acetylene black(AB) and super-P(S-P) as the conductive additives was studied individually. The initial discharge capacity under 0.2 A/g current density was 991 mAh/g and 1357 mAh/g for TAPB-PDA-COF/S@A-B and TAPB-PDACOF/S@S-P, respectively. The better result of S-P based cathode than A-B could be due to the better conductivity of the S-P, as proved by the EIS results. When further increased the current density to 2 A/g,the S-P based composite cathode can still deliver a comparable initial discharge capacity of 630 and 274 mAh/g capacity remained after 940 cycles. | 7 | Sensitivity of green and blue-green algae to methyl tert-butyl ether显示文摘The toxicity of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) to Chlorella ellipsoidea and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae was tested and assessed for a 15-d incubation with concentrations of MTBE from high (2.00×104 mg/L) to low (2 mg/L). The results showed that the toxicity was low when the concentration of MTBE was in the range 1.00×104-2.00×104 mg/L (the greatest inhibition of growth-rate was 70%-71%, occurred during the day 1-5). Low concentrations (2-500 mg/L) stimulated algal growth up to the greatest effect of 85%-200% when the concentration of MTBE was 50-100 mg/L during day 3-5. The toxicity of MTBE (72-120 h EC50) was 6.65×103-9.58×103 mg/L for C. ellipsoidea and that is 1.14×104-2.00×104 mg/L for A. floc-aquae. | 8 | Statistic Analysis of the Annual Extreme Wave Parameters for the Coast of China显示文摘- According to the need of project design for offshore engineering and coastal engineering, this paper statistically analyses the annual extreme data of waves acquired at 19 observation stations along the coast of China. Five kinds of distribution curves are adopted: Pearson Ⅲ(P-Ⅲ), Log-Extreme I (LE), Log-Normal(LN), Weibull(W) and Exponential r(Eг) to check the adaptability to the long-term distribution of annual extreme of wave in the China Sea areas. The New Curve Fittling Method (NFIT) method and Probability Weighted Moments (PWM) method are used to estimate the distribution parameters and thereby to derive the design wave parameters with different return periods at 19 observation stations. | 9 | Effect of loading on the Ni_2P/Al_2O_3 catalysts for the hydrotreating reactions显示文摘The 80%Ni2P/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by the phosphidation of corresponding 80%Ni/Al2O3 with triphenylphosphine in liquid phase and compared with the 60%Ni2P/Al2O3 for hydrotreating reactions. Both the60%Ni2P/Al2O3 and 80%Ni2P/Al2O3 in comparison exhibited the small and uniform Ni2 P particles(6.3 and8.4 nm,respectively),high CO uptakes(305 and 345 μmol/g,respectively) and thus high activities for the hydrotreating reactions. After the hydrotreating reactions,the small and uniform Ni2 P particles were remained,although the CO uptakes on the used 60%Ni2P/Al2O3 and 80%Ni2P/Al2O3 were greatly decreased(to 68 and95 μmol/g,respectively) due to the incorporation of S into the Ni2 P surfaces. | 16 | Estimating the macrobenthic species richness with an optimized sampling design in the intertidal zone of Changjiang Estuary显示文摘It is a challenge in the field sampling to face conflict between the statistical requirements and the logistical constraints when explicitly estimating the macrobenthos species richness in the heterogeneous intertidal wetlands. To solve this problem, this study tried to design an optimal, efficient and practical sampling strategy by comprehensively focusing on the three main parts of the entire process(to optimize the sampling method, to determine the minimum sampling effort and to explore the proper sampling interval) in a typical intertidal wetland of the Changjiang(Yangtze) Estuary, China. Transect sampling was selected and optimized by stratification based on pronounced habitat types(tidal flat, tidal creek, salt marsh vegetation). This type of sampling is also termed within-transect stratification sampling. The optimal sampling intervals and the minimum sample effort were determined by two beneficial numerical methods: Monte Carlo simulations and accumulative species curves. The results show that the within-transect stratification sampling with typical habitat types was effective for encompassing 81% of the species, suggesting that this type of sampling design can largely reduce the sampling effort and labor. The optimal sampling intervals and minimum sampling efforts for three habitats were determined: sampling effort must exceed 1.8 m^2 by 10 m intervals in the salt marsh vegetation, 2 m^2 by 10 m intervals in the tidal flat, and 3 m^2 by 1 m intervals in the tidal creek habitat. It was suggested that the differences were influenced by the mobility range of the dominant species and the habitats' physical differences(e.g., tidal water, substrate, vegetation cover). The optimized sampling strategy could provide good precision in the richness estimation of macrobenthos and balance the sampling effort. Moreover, the conclusions presented here provide a reference for recommendations to consider before macrobenthic surveys take place in estuarine wetlands. | 18 | Study on Growth,Serum Biochemical and Antioxidant Enzyme Indices of Juvenile Siganus guttatus Fed with Enteromorpha prolifra and Artificial Feed显示文摘In order to provide reference for using Siganus guttatus to control overgrowth of Enteromorpha prolifra,the growth,serum biochemical and antioxidant enzyme indices of juvenile S.guttatus respectively fed with E.prolifra and artificial feed were studied.One hundred and eighty individuals were cultivated for 90 days in six 2.5 m × 1.5 m × 1.5 m cages (30 ind.per cage) which mesh size were 0.5 mm.The experimental animals were divided into two dietary groups (three cages for each group) that were fed with E.prolifra and artificial feed respectively.During the culture period,temperatures ranged from 23.0 to 26.5℃,p H was between 7.8 and 8.2,dissolved oxygen was more than 5.0 mg/L.The weight gain rate,specific growth rate,relative growth rate,hepato-somatic index of juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.prolifra were significantly lowe than that fed with artificial feed (P<0.05).The total protein (TP),urea nitrogen (UN)and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) of juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.Prolifra were significantly higher than that fed with artificial feed (P<0.05),while glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (AST/GOT) and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (ALT/GPT) of juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.prolifra were significantly lower than that fed with artificial feed (P<0.05).SOD,GPX and anti-superoxide anion radical activity in liver,kidney,gill and muscle of juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.prolifra were higher than that fed with artificial feed,and these antioxidant enzyme activities in kidney of juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.prolifra was significantly higher than that fed with artificial feed (P<0.05),while CAT and hydroxyl radical-inhibiting activity in liver of juvenile S.guttatus fed with artificial feed were significantly higher than that fed with E.prolifra (P<0.05).Juvenile S.guttatus fed with E.prolifra showed poor growth performance but better antioxidant defense system.S.guttatus is easily raised and has stronger ability of digestion and absorption of E.Prolifra.The technique that uses S.guttatus to control E.prolifra deserves deeply study. | Song Chao Hu Chengshuo Zhang Longzhen Zhao Feng Huang Xiaorong Wang Yu Liu Jianyi | 2016 | Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2016,8,5: | 2 |
| 19 | A combined process coupling phytoremediation and in situ flushing for removal of arsenic in contaminated soil显示文摘Phytoremediation and soil washing are both potentially useful for remediating arsenic(As)-contaminated soils.We evaluated the effectiveness of a combined process coupling phytoremediation and in situ soil flushing for removal of As in contaminated soil through a pilot study.The results showed that growing Pteris vittata L.(P.v.) accompanied by soil flushing of phosphate(P.v./Flushing treatment) could significantly decrease the total As concentration of soil over a 37 day flushing period compared with the single flushing(Flushing treatment).The P.v./Flushing treatment removed 54.04% of soil As from contaminated soil compared to 47.16% in Flushing treatment,suggesting that the growth of P.vittata was beneficial for promoting the removal efficiency.We analyzed the As fractionation in soil and As concentration in soil solution to reveal the mechanism behind this combined process.Results showed that comparing with the control treatment,the percent of labile arsenate fraction significantly increased by 17% under P.v./Flushing treatment.As concentration in soil solution remained a high lever during the middle and later periods(51.26–56.22 mg/L),which was significantly higher than the Flushing treatment.Although soil flushing of phosphate for more than a month,P.vittata still had good accumulation and transfer capacity of As of the soil.The results of the research revealed that combination of phytoremediation and in situ soil flushing is available to remediate As-contaminated soils. | Xiulan Yan Qiuxin Liu Jianyi Wang Xiaoyong Liao | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7: | 2 |
| 20 | Effect of multiphase content on temperature-dependent electrical conductivity in silicone rubber composites显示文摘To investigate how the multiphase structures affect the electrical conductivity in semicrystalline polymer composites,herein,an accurate multiphase content calculation method is proposed and verified,which combines amorphous phase information in broadband dielectric spectroscopy and crystalline phase information in differential scanning calorimetry.Taken aluminium hydroxide(ATH)filled silicone rubber as an example,it is found that the rigid amorphous fraction(RAF)corresponding to the chains constrained by crystals(RAF_(cry))is not linearly increased with crystalline fraction(CF).Compared to non-isothermal crystallisation,RAF caused by ATH/silicone rubber interface(RAF_(int))after isothermal crystallisation at 213 K changes little,while mobile amorphous fraction and RAFcry is attenuated and CF is strengthened.Based on the calculated structures of ATH filled silicone rubber,activation energy of conductivities during cooling is dominated by the thermal transition for conductive ions and shortened distance among the conductive ions through shrunk volumes of the amorphous phase.Our findings deepen the understanding of multiphase content in semi-crystalline polymer composites and its relationship with electrical conductivity,which can be applied in manipulating electrical performance of semi-crystalline polymers by fillers. | Ying Lin Yuhao Liu Bin Cao Jianyi Xue Liming Wang Jianing Wang Lijian Ding | 2023 | High Voltage2023,8,2: | 2 |
