| 1 | Structural Surface Crack Monitoring Method Based on Electrical Potential Technique and Modern Surface Technology显示文摘Crack monitoring plays a great role in modern structural health monitoring, however, most of the conventional crack inspections have disadvantages in terms of the accuracy, expense, reliability, durability and level of instrumentation required. Thus, development of a simple and reliable crack inspection technique that allows continuous monitoring has been desired. In this paper, electrical potential technique and modern surface technology are employed together to develop a new structural surface crack monitoring method. A special crack monitoring coating sensor based on electrical potential technique was deposited on the hot spot of the structure by modern surface technology. The sensor consists of three layers: the isolated layer, the sensing layer and the protective layer. The isolated layer is prepared by anodic oxidation technology, the sensing layer is made of ion plated copper, and the protective layer is made of silicone. The thickness of each layer is at micrometer magnitude. The electrical conductivity of the sensor is very stable, and the fatigue performance of the specimen with or without coating sensor is nearly unchanged. The crack monitoring experiment result shows that there are two sudden rises of the coating sensor electrical potential values, corresponding to different stages of the crack initiation and propagation. Since the width of the surface coating sensor is only 0.5 mm, this crack monitoring sensor can detect the propagation of cracks less than 0.5 mm long. The method proposed takes the simplicity of electrical potential technique and can monitor surface crack of nearly all kinds of structures precisely. | 2 | Mode for reducing wind curtailment based on battery transportation显示文摘Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, face several obstacles, including curtailment, where the generated energy exceeds local demand and production must be reduced because of limited transmission capacity.Simultaneously, consumer demand for large-capacity batteries is expanding given the recent rapid development of electric vehicles(EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs. A batterycharging mode, in which discharged batteries are transported from battery exchange stations in high-load areas to wind farms, is proposed to alleviate curtailment. In this study, batteries store otherwise curtailed energy and smooth the wind power output simultaneously. The structure of the battery-charging device is discussed, and the concept of a battery-charging container is proposed. The control principle of the battery-charging management unit is presented with a simulation model constructed in the PSCAD/EMTDC environment. A case study is simulated,and the feasibility of the mode is analyzed considering the levelized cost and energy losses. | 3 | Development of a Percentile Based Three-dimensional Model of the Buttocks in Computer System显示文摘There are diverse products related to human buttocks, which need to be designed, manufactured and evaluated with 3D buttock model. The 3D buttock model used in present research field is just simple approximate model similar to human buttocks. The 3D buttock percentile model is highly desired in the ergonomics design and evaluation for these products. So far, there is no research on the percentile sizing system of human 3D buttock model. So the purpose of this paper is to develop a new method for building three-dimensional buttock percentile model in computer system. After scanning the 3D shape of buttocks, the cloud data of 3D points is imported into the reverse engineering software(Geomagic) for the reconstructing of the buttock surface model. Five characteristic dimensions of the buttock are measured through mark-points after models being imported into engineering software CATIA. A series of space points are obtained by the intersecting of the cutting slices and 3D buttock surface model, and then are ordered based on the sequence number of the horizontal and vertical slices. The 1st, 5th, 50 th, 95 th, 99 th percentile values of the five dimensions and the spatial coordinate values of the space points are obtained, and used to reconstruct percentile buttock models. This research proposes a establishing method of percentile sizing system of buttock 3D model based on the percentile values of the ischial tuberosities diameter, the distances from margin to ischial tuberosity and the space coordinates value of coordinate points, for establishing the Nth percentile 3D buttock model and every special buttock types model. | 4 | Promoting effect of chloride ions on selective oxidation of methanol to methyl formate over zirconia-supported ruthenium oxide catalysts显示文摘The effect of chloride ions on a monoclinic ZrO2-supported RuOx(RuOx/m-ZrO2) catalyst with a Ru surface density of 0.3 Ru/nm2 was studied in the selective oxidation of methanol to methyl formate(MF) at a low temperature of 373 K.The m-ZrO2 support was Cl-free,and Cl- ions were introduced into the RuOx/m-ZrO2 catalyst by impregnation with zirconium oxychloride or ammonium chloride and subsequent thermal treatment in air at 673 K.The structures of these catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction,Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies.Their reducibility was probed by temperature-programmed reduction in H2.The RuOx domains were present as highly dispersed RuO42- structure on m-ZrO2 with similar reducibility for the RuOx/m-ZrO2 samples irrespective of modification with or without Cl- ions.Introduction of appropriate amounts of zirconium oxychloride into RuOx/m-ZrO2 led to a remarkable increase in the methanol oxidation rate and MF selectivity,whereas introduction of ammonium chloride or zirconyl nitrate significantly inhibited the catalytic performance of RuOx/m-ZrO2.The promoting effect of Cl- ions derived from zirconium oxychloride can be tentatively attributed to their roles in facilitating the adsorption of methanol and desorption of MF product or its intermediates.This finding provides novel insights into the promoting effect of Cl ions on oxides-based catalysts for selective oxidation reactions. | Weizhen Li Hongpeng Zhang Xiaohui He Haichao Liu | 2013 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,3: | 2 |

| 13 | Constructing a novel Ag nanowire@CeVO_(4) heterostructure photocatalyst for promoting charge separation and sunlight driven photodegradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Exploiting efficient and recyclable photocatalysts is a vital matter for environmental purification. Herein, cerium vanadate (CeVO_(4)) sub-microspheres and silver nanowire (AgNW)@CeVO_(4) with core-shell architecture as photocatalysts are rationally constructed by hydrothermal approach. The AgNW@CeVO_(4) photocatalyst obtained by depositing CeVO_(4) on the surface of Ag NWs possess one dimensional continuous structure, which expand the optical absorption range and reduce the band gap of CeVO_(4) photocatalyst. Moreover, the resultant AgNW@CeVO_(4) photocatalyst demonstrates superior photocatalytic performance in the degradation of rhodamine B, methylene blue, and 4-nitrophenol pollutants upon solar light irradiation, compared with pure CeVO_(4). The excellent photocatalytic activity can be ascribed to the introduction of Ag NWs, which afford rapid charge transport channels and reservoir for the electrons in the AgNW@CeVO_(4) heterostructure to promote separation of electron-hole pairs. The first-principles investigations reveal increase of adsorption energy of oxygen molecules on the CeVO_(4) surface with the presence of Ag. Meanwhile, Ag NWs can further improve the photocatalytic efficiency of the AgNW@CeVO_(4) based on the plasmonic effect. More importantly, the good structural stability and recyclability of AgNW@CeVO_(4) are observed due to the strong synergistic effect, which ensures long-term usability of photocatalyst and great promise in water purification. | 16 | Effect of annealing treatment on the performance of organic photovoltaic devices using SPFGraphene as electron-accepter material显示文摘We have researched the performances of organic photovoltaic devices with the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structure using the organic solution-processable functionalized graphene (SPFGraphene) material as the electron-accepter material and P3OT as the donor material. The structural configuration of the device is ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3OT:PCBM-SPFGraphene/LiF/Al. Given the P3OT/PCBM (1:1) mixture with 8wt% of SPFGraphene, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) of the device reaches 0.64 V, a short-circuit current density (Jsc) reaches 5.7 mA/cm2, a fill factor (FF) reaches 0.42, and the power conversion efficiency ( ) reaches 1.53% at illumination at 100 mW/cm2 AM1.5. We further studied the reason for the device performances improvement. In the P3OT:PCBM-SPFGraphene composite, the SPFGraphene material acts as exciton dissociation sites and provides the transport pathways of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO)-SPFGraphene-Al. Furthermore, adding SPFGraphene to P3OT results in appropriate energetic distance between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and LUMO of the donor/acceptor and provides higher exciton dissociation volume mobility of carrier transport. We have researched the effect of annealing treatment for the devices and found that the devices with annealing treatment at 180°C show better performances compared with devices without annealed treatment.
