1Optical vortices 30 years on:OAM manipulation from topological charge to multiple singularities显示文摘Thirty years ago,Coullet et al.proposed that a special optical field exists in laser cavities bearing some analogy with the superfluid vortex.Since then,optical vortices have been widely studied,inspired by the hydrodynamics sharing similar mathematics.Akin to a fluid vortex with a central flow singularity,an optical vortex beam has a phase singularity with a certain topological charge,giving rise to a hollow intensity distribution.Such a beam with helical phase fronts and orbital angular momentum reveals a subtle connection between macroscopic physical optics and microscopic quantum optics.These amazing properties provide a new understanding of a wide range of optical and physical phenomena,including twisting photons,spin–orbital interactions,Bose-Einstein condensates,etc.,while the associated technologies for manipulating optical vortices have become increasingly tunable and flexible.Hitherto,owing to these salient properties and optical manipulation technologies,tunable vortex beams have engendered tremendous advanced applications such as optical tweezers,high-order quantum entanglement,and nonlinear optics.This article reviews the recent progress in tunable vortex technologies along with their advanced applications.Yijie Shen Xuejiao Wang Zhenwei Xie Changjun Min Xing Fu Qiang Liu Mali Gong Xiaocong Yuan 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:77
2Effect of dietary soy oil, glucose, and glutamine on growth performance, amino acid profile, blood profile, immunity, and antioxidant capacity in weaned piglets显示文摘Weaning stress results in gastrointestinal dysfunction and depressed performance in pigs. This study aimed to investigate the effect of soy oil, glucose, and glutamine on the growth and health of weaned piglets. Compared with those in the glutamine group, piglets in the glucose and soy oil groups had greater average daily gain, average daily feed intake, and gain: feed ratio from day 0 to 14, and gain: feed ratio for the overall period. There were no differences with regard to serum amino acids among the three groups on day 14, except glycine and threonine. The serum concentration of histidine, serine, threonine, proline, and cysteine was the highest in the glutamine group, while the content of glycine and lysine in the soy oil group on day 28 was the highest among all groups. Piglets fed with glutamine had greater serum glucose and creatinine on day 14, high-density lipoprotein on day 28, and serum IgG and IgM on day 28. Piglets in the glutamine group demonstrated lower serum total superoxide dismutase on day 14 and 28; however, they demonstrated higher total superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity in the duodenum and ileum on day 14. 3Profiling the ionome of rice and its use in discriminating geographical origins at the regional scale, China显示文摘Element profile was investigated for their use to trace the geographical origin of rice (Oryza sativa L.) samples. The concentrations of 13 elements (calcium (Ca), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), boron (B), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), and cadmium (Cd)) were determined in the rice samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission and mass spectrometry. Most of the essential elements for human health in rice were within normal ranges except for Mo and Se. Mo concentrations were twice as high as those in rice from Vietnam and Spain. Meanwhile, Se concentrations were three times lower in the whole province compared to the Chinese average level of 0.088 mg/kg. About 12% of the rice samples failed the Chinese national food safety standard of 0.2 mg/kg for Cd. Combined with the multi-elemental profile in rice, the principal component analysis (PCA), discriminant function analysis (DFA) and Fibonacci index analysis (FIA) were applied to discriminate geographical origins of the samples. Results indicated that the FIA method could achieve a more effective geographical origin classification compared with PCA and DFA, due to its efficiency in making the grouping even when the elemental variability was so high that PCA and DFA showed little discriminatory power. Furthermore, some elements were identified as the most powerful indicators of geographical origin: Ca, Ni, Fe and Cd. 4Trichosanthin enhances anti-tumor immune response in a murine Lewis lung cancer model by boosting the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM显示文摘Trichosanthin(TCS),extracted from the Chinese medicinal herb Trichosanthes kirilowi,has shown promise for the inhibition of tumor growth.However,its immunomodulatory effect on tumor–host interaction remains unknown.In this study,we focused on the effect of TCS on murine anti-tumor immune response in the 3LL Lewis lung carcinoma tumor model and explored the possible molecular pathways involved.In addition to inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis in the 3LL tumor,TCS retarded tumor growth and prolonged mouse survival more significantly in C57BL/6 immunocompetent mice than in nude mice.This reflected the fact that the host immune system was involved in tumor eradication.Using FACS analysis,we found that TCS increased the percentage of effector T cells,particularly Interferon-gamma(IFN-c)producing CD41 and CD81 T cells from tumor-bearing mice.TCS also promoted the vigorous proliferation of antigen-specific effector T cells,markedly increased Th1 cytokine secretion and elicited more memory T cells in tumor-bearing mice,consequently enhancing the anti-tumor response and inducing immune protection.Furthermore,we found that TCS upregulated the expression of tumor suppressor in lung cancer 1(TSLC1)in 3LL tumor cells and the expression of its ligand,class I-restricted T cell-associated molecule(CRTAM),in effector T cells.Blocking TSLC1 expression with small interfering RNA(siRNA)significantly eliminated the effects of TCS on the proliferation and cytokine secretion of effector T cells,suggesting that TCS enhances anti-tumor immune response at least partially by boosting the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM.Collectively,our data demonstrate that TCS not only affects tumor cells directly,but also enhances anti-tumor immunity via the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM.These findings may lead to the development of a novel approach for tumor regression.Yuchan Cai Shudao Xiong Yijie Zheng Feifei Luo Pei Jiang Yiwei Chu 2011Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,4:12

6Effects of particle composition and environmental parameters on catalytic hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene by nanoscale bimetallic Ni-Fe显示文摘Catalytic nickel was successfully incorporated into nanoscale iron to enhance its dechlorination efficiency for trichloroethylene(TCE), one of the most commonly detected chlorinated organic compounds in groundwater. Ethane was the predominant product. The greatest dechlorination efficiency was achieved at 22 molar percent of nickel. This nanoscale Ni-Fe is poorly ordered and inhomogeneous; iron dissolution occurred whereas nickel was relatively stable during the 24-hr reaction. The morphological characterization provided significant new insights on the mechanism of catalytic hydrodechlorination by bimetallic nanoparticles. TCE degradation and ethane production rates were greatly affected by environmental parameters such as solution pH, temperature and common groundwater ions. Both rate constants decreased and then increased over the pH range of 6.5 to 8.0, with the minimum value occurring at pH 7.5. TCE degradation rate constant showed an increasing trend over the temperature range of 10 to 25?C. However, ethane production rate constant increased and then decreased over the range, with the maximum value occurring at 20?C. Most salts in the solution appeared to enhance the reaction in the first half hour but overall they displayed an inhibitory effect. 7Detection of water in petroleum inclusions and its implications显示文摘FTIR spectra of inclusions sampled from fault-zone reservoirs of the northwestern Junggar Basin show that water, with different abundances, does exist in petroleum inclusions. It is thus implied that petroleum inclusions can seldom form without water. Different inclusions hosted in one single grain, and formed in one oil charging phase, have a largely varied ratio of water to oil and slightly changed CH3/CH2 ratio. 8Proanthocyanidins Inhibit Seed Germination by Maintaining a High Level of Abscisic Acid in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Proanthocyanidins (PAs) are the main products of the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway in seeds, but their biological function during seed germination is still unclear. We observed that seed germination is delayed with the increase of exogenous PA concentration in Arabidopsis. A similar inhibitory effect occurred in peeled Brassica napus seeds, which was observed by measuring radicle elongation. Using abscisic acid (ABA), a biosynthetic and metabolic inhibitor, and gene expression analysis by real-time polymerase chain reaction, we found that the inhibitory effect of PAs on seed germination is due to their promotion of ABA via de novo biogenesis, rather than by any inhibition of its degradation. Consistent with the relationship between PA content and ABA accumulation in seeds, PA-deficient mutants maintain a lower level of ABA compared with wild-types during germination. Our data suggest that PA distribution in the seed coat can act as a doorkeeper to seed germination. 10Heavy metals,polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and organochlorine pesticides in the surface sediments of mangrove swamps from coastal sites along the Leizhou Peninsula,South China显示文摘Contents of heavy metals,polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs),dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs) and hexachlorcyclohexanes (HCHs) in surface sediments from mangrove areas of the Leizhou Peninsula were analyzed in July and November 2005. Risk assessment criteria applied by Long E R et al. (1995) and Long E D et al. (1998) (effects range low,ERL; effects range mean,ERM) of chemicals in sediments from the gulf or estuary were used to assess the potential ecological risks of heavy metals,PAHs,DDTs and HCHs to aquatic organisms in the studied area. The results indicated that the average contents of zinc,nickel,chromium,lead,copper,arsenic and mercury were (61.97 ± 55.87),(59.99 ± 39.01),(47.93 ± 28.37),(26.64 ± 13.00),(23.45 ± 41.96),(9.32 ± 3.62),(0.14 ± 0.18) mg/kg in dry weight in the sediment samples collected from five studied sites in the Leizhou Peninsula,respectively. Cadmium was not calculated due to its content being below the detection limit (< 0.3 mg/kg). The average levels of Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb,Zn and Hg exceed their background values. The average contents of Ni were higher than ERM. The contents of PAHs in the sediments from the five studied sites were (79.78 ± 43.70) ng/g in dry weight,far lower than ERL(4 022 ng/g). The contents of DDE,DDD and DDTs in the sediments from five studied sites were (2.60 ± 4.68),(17.52 ± 27.25),(27.78 ± 46.64) ng/g in dry weight respectively,clearly higher than ERL,and the average contents of DDT were (7.66 ± 15.93) ng/g in dry weight,much higher than ERM. 11Ecological influence of exotic plants of Sonneratia apetala on understory macrofauna显示文摘The study aims to compare the differences of macrofauna communities of wetlands at 3-year-forest- age, 5-year-forest-age Sonneratia apetala artificial mangroves, 5-year-forest-age Kandelia candel ar- tificial mangroves with the same restoration background, and the naked tidal flat in the Qi'ao Island Mangrove Nature Reserve of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The results show that there were signif- icant structural differences in macrofauna communities among four kinds of habitats. The increase of biomass and species diversity of macrofauna at 3-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves was obviously faster than that at 5-year-forest-age K. candel artificial mangroves whose average tree height was close to that of 3-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves. The BIOENV analysis shows that it was related to the rapid growth of S. apetala, which rapidly changed the light level and shading conditions in the forests. The 5-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves had lower macrofauna species diversity but higher density and biomass than K. candel artificial mangroves with the same forest age. This was due to the rapid changes of physical and chemical properties of habitat soil by the ecological restoration of S. apetala artificial mangroves as well as the changed food sources possibly caused by the leaf-litter of such non-indigenous mangrove species S. apetala. 12Digital synthesis of histological stains using micro-structured and multiplexed virtual staining of label-free tissue显示文摘Histological staining is a vital step in diagnosing various diseases and has been used for more than a century to provide contrast in tissue sections,rendering the tissue constituents visible for microscopic analysis by medical experts.However,this process is time consuming,labour intensive,expensive and destructive to the specimen.Recently,the ability to virtually stain unlabelled tissue sections,entirely avoiding the histochemical staining step,has been demonstrated using tissue-stain-specific deep neural networks.Here,we present a new deep-learning-based framework that generates virtually stained images using label-free tissue images,in which different stains are merged following a micro-structure map defined by the user.This approach uses a single deep neural network that receives two different sources of information as its input:(1)autofluorescence images of the label-free tissue sample and(2)a“digital staining matrix”,which represents the desired microscopic map of the different stains to be virtually generated in the same tissue section.This digital staining matrix is also used to virtually blend existing stains,digitally synthesizing new histological stains.We trained and blindly tested this virtual-staining network using unlabelled kidney tissue sections to generate micro-structured combinations of haematoxylin and eosin(H&E),Jones’silver stain,and Masson’s trichrome stain.Using a single network,this approach multiplexes the virtual staining of label-free tissue images with multiple types of stains and paves the way for synthesizing new digital histological stains that can be created in the same tissue cross section,which is currently not feasible with standard histochemical staining methods.Yijie Zhang Kevin de Haan Yair Rivenson Jingxi Li Apostolos Delis Aydogan Ozcan 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:7
13Improved NSGA-Ⅱ Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm Based on Hybridization-encouraged Mechanism显示文摘To improve performances of multi-objective optimization algorithms,such as convergence and diversity,a hybridization-encour-aged mechanism is proposed and realized in elitist nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-Ⅱ).This mechanism uses the nor-malized distance to evaluate the difference among genes in a population.Three possible modes of crossover operators-'Max Distance','Min-Max Distance',and 'Neighboring-Max'-are suggested and analyzed.The mode of 'Neighboring-Max',which not only takes advantage of hybridization but also improves the distribution of the population near Pareto optimal front,is chosen and used in NSGA-II on the basis of hybridization-encouraged mechanism (short for HEM-based NSGA-Ⅱ).To prove the HEM-based algorithm,several problems are studied by using standard NSGA-II and the presented method.Different evaluation criteria are also used to judge these algorithms in terms of distribution of solutions,convergence,diversity,and quality of solutions.The numerical results indicate that the application of hybridization-encouraged mechanism could effectively improve the performances of genetic algorithm.Finally,as an example in engineering practices,the presented method is used to design a longitudinal flight control system,which demonstrates the obtainability of a reasonable and correct Pareto front.Sun Yijie Shen Gongzhang 2008Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2008,21,6:7
14Adaptive weighting impact angle optimal guidance law considering seeker's FOV angle constraints显示文摘In this paper, a new adaptive optimal guidance law with impact angle and seeker's field-of-view(FOV) angle constraints is proposed. To this end, the generalized optimal guidance law is derived first. A changeable impact angle weighting(IAW) coefficient is introduced and used to modify the guidance law to make it adaptive for all guidance constraints. After integrating the closed-form solution of the guidance command with linearized engagement kinematics, the analytic predictive models of impact angle and FOV angle are built, and the available range of IAW corresponding to constraints is certain. Next, a calculation scheme is presented to acquire the real-time value of IAW during the entire guidance process. 15Evaluation Model of Design for Operation and Architecture of Hierarchical Virtual Simulation for Flight Vehicle Design显示文摘In order to take requirements for commercial operations or military missions into better consideration in new flight vehicle design, a tri-hierarchical task classification model of 'design for operation' is proposed, which takes basic man-object interaction task, complex collaborative operation and large-scale joint operation into account. The corresponding general architecture of evaluation criteria is also depicted. Then a virtual simulation-based approach to implement the evaluations at three hierarchy levels is mainly analyzed with a detailed example, which validates the feasibility and effectiveness of evaluation architecture. 16Effects of anaerobic composting on tetracycline degradation in swine manure显示文摘Oxytetracycline(OTC) and tetracycline(TC) are the most common TC antibiotics used in human and veterinary medicine.Residual amounts of these antibiotics in manure pose a potential threat to public and ecological health as a result of the potential for them to be released to the environment following land application of manure from animals treated with antibiotics.We investigated the degradation of OTC and TC during anaerobic composting.We tested the effects of temperature and antibiotic concentration on degradation rates in a control and in manure spiked with TCs.We examined changes in p H,biological degradation material(BDM),and moisture corresponding with antibiotic degradation of TCs in the swine manure.Results showed that the OTC and TC concentrations decreased by between 68.54% and 95.50% in all nine treatments following 14 days of anaerobic composting,and the highest removal ef ficiencies were observed at an incubation temperature of 55°C and initial concentrations of 10.36 μg·g^(-1),and 5.96 μg·g^(-1) of OTC and TC,respectively,which were degraded by 95.50%,and 90.06%.During composting at 55 °C and at added concentrations of 5 μg·g^(-1),OTC decreased rapidly,and the time required for50% and 90% degradation was 4.1 and 9.8 days,respectively;for TC,these values were 4.4 and 14.0 days,respectively.Removal ef ficiencies for all TCs correlated well with moisture content of the manure.These results show that composting may be a practical and useful means to reduce concentrations of OTC and TC in swine manure prior to its land application.Yixuan Chu Chengran Fang Hua Wang Xinkai Wu Yijie Gu Ji Shu 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,10:6
17Ecological indicators showing the succession of macrofauna communities in Sonneratia apetala artificial mangrove wetlands on Qi'ao Island at Zhuhai, South China显示文摘The Sonneratia apetala artificial mangroves in the intertidal zone of Da Wei Bay at Qi'ao Island of Zhuhai, South China were chosen as the macrofauna succession plots while bare tidal flats of the same size were established as control plots in surrounding interference-free areas. Conventional change indicators of community structure, such as biomass and biodiversity, and indicators, such as exergy and specific exergy, which reflect the information change of overall communities, were used to analyze the succession of macrofauna communities in S. apetala artificial mangroves. The similarities and differences in variation tendency of the different ecological indicators and their reflected ecological principles were compared. The results showed that from D-1 to D-1275 after planting S. apetala, the biomass of the macrofauna communities first increased, which was then followed by an increase in the network relationship between the macrofauna communities(analysis of the Pielou evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index). The system information(specific exergy) increased the slowest. Between D-1460 and D-2370 after planting S. apetala, there was a decrease in biomass, network structure, and system information in the succession plots. After the decrease in the system information(the specific exergy), there was a decline in the network relationships(Pielou evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index). Biomass was the last indicator to decrease. The similarities and differences among the different ecological indicators varied during the succession process, which reflected the relativity and differences among the indicators. This study suggested that, although the species diversity index can be an effective indicator of two types of changes(network structure and system information), it was quite clear that species diversity measurement was not suitable for expressing the changes in biomass during the succession process. While exergy and specific exergy can provide useful information about the structural development of communities, they cannot identify the information state of the system. 19A new finite element model in studying earthquake triggering and continuous evolution of stress field显示文摘In this paper, a new finite element model (FEM) in consideration of regional stress field and an earthquake triggering factor C are proposed for studying earthquake triggering and stress field evolution in an earthquake sequence. The factor C is defined as a ratio between the shear stress and the frictional strength on a slip surface, and it can be used to tell if earthquake is triggered or not. The new FEM and the factor C are used to study the aftershock triggering of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake sequence. The results indicate that the effects of the stress field and the heterogeneity of the Tangshan earthquake fault zone on the aftershock triggering are very important. 20Pretreatment of cyanided tailings by catalytic ozonation with Mn^(2+)/O^3显示文摘The increasing amount of cyanided tailings produced as a by-product has gained significant attention in recent years because of the rapid development of the gold industry and extensive exploitation of gold mineral resources. The effective use of these secondary resources is becoming an important and urgent problem for all environmental protection staff. Manganese-catalyzed ozonation for the pre-oxidation of cyanided tailings was studied and the effects of Mn2+dosage, initial sulfuric acid concentration, ozone volume flow, temperature and agitation speed on pretreatment were examined. The optimum reaction conditions were observed to be: ore pulp density 2.5%, agitation speed 700 r/min,temperature 60°C, Mn2+dosage 40 g/L, ozone volume flow 80 L/hr, initial sulfuric acid concentration 1 mol/L, and reaction time 6 hr. Under these conditions, the leaching rate of Fe and weight loss could reach 94.85% and 48.89% respectively.
