| 1 | Pediatric reference intervals in China(PRINCE):design and rationale for a large,multicenter collaborative cross-sectional study显示文摘There is a lack of accurate pediatric reference intervals(RIs) in China, with most commonly used RIs established without consideration of the effect of age and gender. The Pediatric Reference Intervals in China(PRINCE) project aims to establish and verify pediatric RIs for 31 common laboratory measurands.The project will be a large, multicenter cross-sectional study:14,490 healthy children and adolescents aged up to 19 years will be surveyed by 10 children's hospitals and one pediatric department of a university hospital. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the study methods, 602 children were surveyed in the pilot phase of the PRINCE study in April 2017: it found that some measurands were distinctly age dependent and that there were differences between values for males and females. The results of the pilot study affirmed the necessity of the PRINCE project for Chinese pediatrics. The pilot also indicated potential difficulties in the full survey, e.g., difficulties in recruiting children aged under 3 years and insufficient collection of blood samples from infants. | 3 | Simulated-sunlight-activated photocatalysis of Methylene Blue using cerium-doped SiO_2/TiO_2 nanostructured fibers显示文摘Cerium-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 nanostructured fibers were fabricated by electrospinning technology.The prepared fibers were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Using the fibers as catalysts,photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue(MB) aqueous solution was carried out under simulated sunlight.The 0.2% Ce doping proved to be the optimal concentration for the doping of TiO 2 /SiO 2,compared to other Ce-doped molar concentrations.The 0.2% Ce-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 fibers exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than industrial Degussa P25 and the samples doped with only Ce or SiO 2.The reasons for improving the photocatalytic activity were also discussed.Several operational parameters were studied,which showed that the photocatalytic efficiency of MB was influenced by parameters such as the initial dye concentration,the initial pH,inorganic anions,and so on.In addition,the influences of an electron acceptor and a radical scavenger suggested that OH was the dominant photooxidant during the photocatalytic process.The reuse evaluation of the fibers indicated that their photocatalytic activity had good stability. | Yu Liu Hongbing Yu Zhenning Lv Sihui Zhan Jiangyao Yang Xinhong Peng Yixuan Ren Xiaoyan Wu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10: | 10 |

| 6 | Carbon Dioxide Captured from Flue Gas by Modified Ca-based Sorbents in Fixed-bed Reactor at High Temperature显示文摘Four kinds of Ca-based sorbents were prepared by calcination and hydration reactions using different precursors: calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, calcium acetate monohydrate and calcium oxide. The CO2 absorption capacity of those sorbents was investigated in a fixed-bed reactor in the temperature range of 350-650℃. It was found that all of those sorbents showed higher capacity for CO2 absorption when the operating temperature higher than 450℃. The CaAc2-CaO sorbent showed the highest CO2 absorption capacity of 299mg·g-1. The morphology of those sorbents was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the changes of composition before and after carbonation were also determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Results indicated that those sorbents have the similar chemical compositions and crystalline phases before carbonation reaction [mainly Ca(OH)2], and CaCO3 is the main component after carbonation reaction. The SEM morphology shows clearly that the sorbent pores were filled with reaction products after carbonation reaction, and became much denser than before. | 8 | Growth of LaBr_3:Ce^(3+) Single Crystal by Vertical Bridgman Process in Nonvacuum Atmosphere显示文摘The growth of LaBr3:Ce3+ crystal by the vertical Bridgman process in a nonvacuum atmosphere was reported. According to the dehydration procedure of LaBr3·7H2O and CeBr3·7H2O investigated by differential thermal analysis/thermogravimetry (DTA/TG), anhydrous LaBr3 and CeBr3 were prepared by heating LaBr3·7H2O and CeBr3·7H2O at 240–260°C for 5–6 h in dried HBr atmosphere. Using the feed materials prepared from the anhydrous lanthanon bromides, a 0.5 mole fraction Ce3+ doped LaBr3 crystal with size of φ25 mm×50 mm had been grown by vertical Bridgman process successfully. By sealing the feed material in a platinum crucible, the crystal could be grown in a nonvacuum atmosphere as the oxidization and volatilization of the melt could be avoided. The crystal was grown with the optimum conditions such as a growth rate of 0.5–1.0 mm/h and a temperature gradient of around 30°C/cm across solid-liquid interface under a furnace temperature of 850–880°C. The crystal was characterized by DTA/TG, X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical transmission, photoluminescence and X-ray stimulated luminescence measurement. | 9 | Physiological and Biochemical Mechanisms of Exogenous Calcium Chloride on Alleviating Salt Stress in Two Tartary Buckwheat(Fagopyrum tataricum)Varieties Differing in Salinity Tolerance显示文摘Salt stress is one of the most serious abiotic stresses limiting plant growth and development.Calcium as an essential nutrient element and important signaling molecule plays an important role in ameliorating the adverse effect of salinity on plants.This study aimed to investigate the impact of exogenous calcium on improving salt tolerance in Tartary buckwheat cultivars,cv.Xinong9920(salt-tolerant)and cv.Xinong9909(salt-sensitive).Four-week-old Tartary buckwheat seedlings under 100 mM NaCl stress were treated with and without exogenous calcium chloride(CaCl_(2)),Ca^(2+)chelator ethylene glycol tetraacetic acid(EGTA)and Ca^(2+)-channel blocker lanthanum chloride(LaCl_(3))for 10 days.Then,some important physiological and biochemical indexes were determined.The results showed that salt stress significantly reduced seedling growth,decreased photosynthetic pigments,inhibited antioxidants and antioxidant enzyme activities.However,it increased the reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in the two Tartary buckwheat cultivars.Exogenous 10 mM CaCl_(2)application on salt-stressed Tartary buckwheat seedlings obviously mitigated the negative effects of NaCl stress and partially restored seedlings growth.Ca^(2+)-treated salt-stressed seedlings diplayed a suppressed accumulation of ROS,increased the contents of total chlorophyll,soluble protein,proline and antioxidants,and elevated the activities of antioxidant enzymes compared with salt stress alone.On the contrary,the addition of 0.5 mM LaCl_(3)and 5 mM EGTA on salt-stressed Tartary buckwheat seedlings exhibited the opposite effects to those with CaCl_(2)treatment.These results indicate that exogenous Ca^(2+)can enhance salt stress tolerance and Ca^(2+)supplementation may be an effective practice to cultivate Tartary buckwheat in saline soils. | Tao Zhang Hongbing Yang | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,8: | 5 |

| 14 | Deficient Rnf43 potentiates hyperactive Kras-mediated pancreatic preneoplasia initiation and malignant transformation显示文摘Background:Largely due to incidental detection,asymptomatic pancreatic cystic le-sions(PCLs)have become prevalent in recent years.Among them,intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm(IPMN)infrequently advances to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).Conservative surveillance versus surgical intervention is a difficult clinical decision for both caregivers and PCL patients.Because RNF43 loss-of-function mutations and KRAS gain-of-function mutations concur in a subset of IPMN and PDAC,their biological significance and therapeutic potential should be elucidated.Methods:Pancreatic Rnf43 knockout and Kras activated mice(Rnf43^(−/−);Kras^(G12D))were generated to evaluate their clinical significance in pancreatic pre-neoplastic initiation and malignant transformation.Results:Loss of Rnf43 potentiated the occurrence and severity of IPMN and PDAC in oncogenic Kras mice.The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway was activated in pan-creatic Kras^(G12D)and Rnf43 knockout mice and the PORCN inhibitor LGK974 blocked pancreatic IPMN initiation and progression to PDAC accordingly.Conclusions:Rnf43 is a tumor suppressor in the prevention of pancreatic malignant transformation.This genetically reconstituted autochthonous pancreatic Rnf43^(−/−);Kras^(G12D)preclinical cancer model recapitulates the pathological process from pancreatic cyst to cancer in humans and can be treated with inhibitors of Wnt/β-catenin signaling.Since the presence of RNF43 and KRAS mutations in IPMNs predicts future development of advanced neoplasia from PCLs,patients with these genetic anomalies warrant surveillance,surgery,and/or targeted therapeutics such as Wnt/β-catenin inhibitors. | Xian Zhou Zhichao Sun Mengdi Zhang Xiaoyu Qu Shuhui Yang Lianmei Wang Yanling Jing Li Li Weiwei Deng Fangming Liu Jin Di Jie Chen Jian Wu Hongbing Zhang | 2022 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2022,5,1: | 3 |

| 17 | Recyclable bifunctional aluminum salen catalyst for CO2 fixation:the efficient formation of five-membered heterocyclic compounds显示文摘A variety of unique Al(salen) complexes functionalized by imidazolium-based ionic liquid(IL) moieties with the salen ligand at the two sides of 3,3′-position have been successfully prepared, rather than familiar 5,5′-position reported previously.The catalytic activity obtained by these bifunctional catalysts could be superior to those of the binary type catalysts in the formation of five-membered heterocyclic compounds from the cycloaddition reaction of CO_2 and three-membered heterocyclic compounds(including terminal epoxides and N-substituted aziridines), presumably due to the distinguished intramolecularly synergistic catalysis, which might lead to perform the cycloaddition reaction at ambient conditions and retain excellent yield and unprecedented chemo-or regioselectivity. Moreover, the polyether-based trifunctional Al(salen) catalysts with the best catalytic performance could be regenerated and reused at least eight times without any obvious decreases in catalytic activity. | 20 | Comparison of dimension reduction-based logistic regression models for case-control genome-wide association study:principal components analysis vs.partial least squares显示文摘With recent advances in biotechnology, genome-wide association study(GWAS) has been widely used to identify genetic variants that underlie human complex diseases and traits. In case-control GWAS, typical statistical strategy is traditional logistical regression(LR) based on single-locus analysis. However, such a single-locus analysis leads to the well-known multiplicity problem, with a risk of inflating type I error and reducing power. Dimension reduction-based techniques, such as principal component-based logistic regression(PC-LR), partial least squares-based logistic regression(PLS-LR), have recently gained much attention in the analysis of high dimensional genomic data. However, the perfor?mance of these methods is still not clear, especially in GWAS. We conducted simulations and real data application to compare the type I error and power of PC-LR, PLS-LR and LR applicable to GWAS within a defined single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) set region. We found that PC-LR and PLS can reasonably control type I error under null hypothesis.On contrast, LR, which is corrected by Bonferroni method, was more conserved in all simulation settings. In particular, we found that PC-LR and PLS-LR had comparable power and they both outperformed LR, especially when the causal SNP was in high linkage disequilibrium with genotyped ones and with a small effective size in simulation.
