1The CAMS Climate System Model and a Basic Evaluation of Its Climatology and Climate Variability Simulation显示文摘A new coupled climate system model(CSM) has been developed at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS) by employing several state-of-the-art component models. The coupled CAMS-CSM consists of the modified atmospheric model [ECmwf-HAMburg(ECHAM5)], ocean model [Modular Ocean Model(MOM4)], sea ice model [Sea Ice Simulator(SIS)], and land surface model [Common Land Model(CoLM)]. A detailed model description is presented and both the pre-industrial and 'historical' simulations are preliminarily evaluated in this study.The model can reproduce the climatological mean states and seasonal cycles of the major climate system quantities,including the sea surface temperature, precipitation, sea ice extent, and the equatorial thermocline. The major climate variability modes are also reasonably captured by the CAMS-CSM, such as the Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO), El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO), East Asian Summer Monsoon(EASM), and Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO).The model shows a promising ability to simulate the EASM variability and the ENSO–EASM relationship. 2Primary duct closure versus T-tube drainage after laparoscopic common bile duct exploration:a meta-analysis显示文摘Background and aims:Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration(LCBDE)is considered a safe and effective method for the removal of bile duct stones.However,the choice of primary duct closure(PDC)or T-tube drainage(TTD)technique after LCBDE is still controversial.This study aimed to compare the safety and effectiveness of PDC and TTD after LCBDE.Methods:Studies published before May 1,2021 in Pub Med,Web of Science,and Cochrane Library databases were searched to screen out randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and cohort studies to compare PDC with TTD.Meta-analyses of fixed effect and random effect models were performed using Rev Man 5.3.Results:A total of 1865 patients were enrolled in six RCTs and ten cohort studies.Regarding RCTs,the PDC group was significantly better than the TTD group in terms of operation time,total postoperative complications,postoperative hospital stay,and hospitalization expenses(all P<0.05).Based on cohort studies of the subgroup,the PDC group had shorter operation time,shorter postoperative hospital stay,less intraoperative blood loss,and limited total postoperative complications.Statistically,there were no significant differences in bile leakage,retained stones,stone recurrence,bile duct stricture,postoperative pancreatitis,other complications,or postoperative exhaust time between the TTD and PDC groups.Conclusions:Based on the available evidence,compared with TTD,PDC is safe and effective,and can be used as the first choice after transductal LCBDE in patients with choledocholithiasis.Taifeng ZHU Haoming LIN Jian SUN Chao LIU Rui ZHANG 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,12:15
3Analyzing Industrial Structure Evolution of Old Industrial Cities Using Evolutionary Resilience Theory:A Case Study in Shenyang of China显示文摘The recession and revitalization of old industrial cities concerns urban industrial evolution and its characteristics. Based on the theory of evolutionary resilience, we developed an analytical framework for the industrial structure evolution of old industrial cities, and applied the framework to a case study in Shenyang. The following conclusions are drawn. First, since 1978, Shenyang's industrial growth capacity has shown fluctuation between ‘contraction-expansion'. As the secondary industry has a much stronger expansionary and contractionary capacity for growth, this results in lacking stability leading to industrial structure transformation. Second, since 1999, the orientation towards a high-end manufacturing industry in Shenyang has weakened, and the evolution of the new and old growth path is characterized by low-end orientation. Third, since 2007, Shenyang's industrial innovation output capacity has dropped sharply which has been significantly affected by scientific and technological personnel and enterprise-owed science and technology institutions and to a less extent by R&D expenditure. We applied the resilience theory to study the industrial evolution of an old industrial city, explored new study perspectives on industrial evolution and verified the applicability of the resilience theory. 4Recent Progress in Numerical Atmospheric Modeling in China显示文摘This review summarizes the scientific and technical progress in atmospheric modeling in China since 2011,including the dynamical core,model physics,data assimilation,ensemble forecasting,and model evaluation strategies.In terms of the dynamical core,important efforts have been made in the improvement of the existing model formulations and in exploring new modeling approaches that can better adapt to massively parallel computers and global multiscale modeling.With regard to model physics,various achievements in physical representations have been made,especially a trend toward scale-aware parameterization for accommodating the increase of model resolution.In the field of data assimilation,a 4D-Var system has been developed and is operationally used by the National Meteorological Center of China,and its performance is promising.Furthermore,ensemble forecasting has played a more important role in operational forecast systems and progressed in many fundamental techniques.Model evaluation strategies,including key performance metrics and standardized experimental protocols,have been proposed and widely applied to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the systems,offering key routes for model improvement.The paper concludes with a concise summary of the status quo and a brief outlook in terms of future development.Rucong YU Yi ZHANG Jianjie WANG Jian LI Haoming CHEN Jiandong GONG Jing CHEN 2019Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2019,36,9:10

7PCDH17 increases the sensitivity of colorectal cancer to 5-fluorouracil treatment by inducing apoptosis and autophagic cell death显示文摘5-Fluorouracil(5-FU)is known as a first-line chemotherapeutic agent against colorectal cancer(CRC),but drug resistance occurs frequently and significantly limits its clinical success.Our previous study showed that the protocadherin 17(PCDH17)gene was frequently methylated and functioned as a tumor suppressor in CRC.However,the relationship between PCDH17 and 5-FU resistance in CRC remains unclear.Here,we revealed that PCDH17 was more highly expressed in 5-FU-sensitive CRC tissues than in 5-FU-resistant CRC tissues,and high expression of PCDH17 was correlated with high BECN1 expression.Moreover,this expression profile contributed to superior prognosis and increased survival in CRC patients.Restoring PCDH17 expression augmented the 5-FU sensitivity of CRC in vitro and in vivo by promoting apoptosis and autophagic cell death.Furthermore,autophagy played a dominant role in PCDH17-induced cell death,as an autophagy inhibitor blocked cell death to a greater extent than the pancaspase inhibitor Z-VAD-FMK.PCDH17 inhibition by siRNA decreased the autophagy response and 5-FU sensitivity.Mechanistically,we showed that c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(JNK)activation was a key determinant in PCDH17-induced autophagy.The compound SP600125,an inhibitor of JNK,suppressed autophagy and 5-FU-induced cell death in PCDH17-reexpressing CRC cells.Taken together,our findings suggest for the first time that PCDH17 increases the sensitivity of CRC to 5-FU treatment by inducing apoptosis and JNK-dependent autophagic cell death.PCDH17 may be a potential prognostic marker for predicting 5-FU sensitivity in CRC patients.Shuiping Liu Haoming Lin Da Wang Qiang Li Hong Luo Guoxiong Li Xiaohui Chen Yongqiang Li Peng Chen Bingtao Zhai Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Mingming Zhang Xuemeng Han Qiujie Li Liuxi Chen Ying Liu Xiaying Chen Guohua Li Yu Xiang Ting Duan Jiao Feng Jianshu Lou Xingxing Huang Qin Zhang Ting Pan Lili Yan Ting Jin Wenzheng Zhang Lvjia Zhuo Yitian Sun Tian Xie Xinbing Sui 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:4
8The CMIP6 Historical Simulation Datasets Produced by the Climate System Model CAMS-CSM显示文摘This paper describes the historical simulations produced by the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS)climate system model(CAMS-CSM),which are contributing to phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).The model description,experiment design and model outputs are presented.Three members’historical experiments are conducted by CAMS-CSM,with two members starting from different initial conditions,and one excluding the stratospheric aerosol to identify the effect of volcanic eruptions.The outputs of the historical experiments are also validated using observational data.It is found that the model can reproduce the climatological mean states and seasonal cycle of the major climate system quantities,including the surface air temperature,precipitation,and the equatorial thermocline.The long-term trend of air temperature and precipitation is also reasonably captured by CAMS-CSM.There are still some biases in the model that need further improvement.This paper can help the users to better understand the performance and the datasets of CAMS-CSM.Xinyao RONG Jian LI Haoming CHEN Jingzhi SU Lijuan HUA Zhengqiu ZHANG Yufei XIN 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,2:2
9High temperature performance of coaxial h-BN/CNT wires above 1,000 ℃:Thermionic electron emission and thermally activated conductivity显示文摘The development of wires and cables that can tolerate extremely high temperatures will be very important for probing extreme environments, such as in solar exploration, fire disasters, high-temperature materials processing, aeronautics and astronautics. In this paper, a lightweight high-temperature coaxial h-boron nitride (BN)/carbon nanotube (CNT) wire is synthesized by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) epitaxial growth of h-BN on CNT yarn. The epitaxially grown h-BN acts as both an insulating material and a jacket that protects against oxidation. It has been shown that the thermionic electron emission (1,200 K) and thermally activated conductivity (1,000 K) are two principal mechanisms for insulation failure of h-BN at high temperatures. The thermionic emission of h-BN can provide the work function of h-BN, which ranges from 4.22 to 4.61 eV in the temperature range of 1,306-1,787 K. The change in the resistivity of h-BN with temperature follows the ohmic conduction model of an insulator, and it can provide the “electron activation energy”(the energy from the Fermi level to the conduction band of h-BN), which ranges from 2.79 to 3.08 eV, corresponding to a band gap for h-BN ranging from 5.6 to 6.2 eV. However, since the leakage current is very small, both phenomena have no obvious influence on the signal transmission at the working temperature. This lightweight coaxial h-BN/CNT wire can tolerate 1,200 ℃ in air and can transmit electrical signals as normal. 10Large-size niobium disulfide nanoflakes down to bilayers grown by sulfurization显示文摘Atomically thin layers of group VB transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs)provide a unique platform for studying two-dimensional (2D) superconductivityand charge density waves. Thus far, the bottom-up synthesis of these 2D TMDshas often involved precursors that are corrosive or toxic, and their lateral sizesare typically only a few micrometers. In this paper, we report the growth ofNbS2 nanoflakes with a thickness down to bilayers and a lateral dimension upto tens of micrometers without using harsh chemical species. NbS2 nanoflakeseither standing or lying with respect to the sapphire substrate were obtained bysulfurization of niobium oxide films that were prepared via pulsed laser deposition.Standing nanoflakes are considered to grow epitaxiaUy on the sapphire substrateaccording to their ordered orientation, while lying nanoflakes with randomorientations were grown directly on top of the niobium oxide films. The Ramanspectra of the 3R-phase exhibit strong dependence on the layer thickness, wherethe A1 mode softens as the layer number decreases. In contrast to the stable bulkNbS2, the ultra-thin nanoflakes were oxidized on their top surfaces after prolongedexposure to air, as revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. 15An Assessment of CAMS-CSM in Simulating Land–Atmosphere Heat and Water Exchanges显示文摘The Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS)has been devoted to developing a climate system model(CSM)to meet demand for climate simulation and prediction for the East Asian region.In this study,we evaluated the performance of CAMS-CSM in regard to sensible heat flux(H),latent heat flux(LE),surface temperature,soil moisture,and snow depth,focusing on the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project experiment,with the aim of participating in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6.We systematically assessed the simulation results achieved by CAMS-CSM for these variables against various reference products and ground observations,including the FLUXNET model tree ensembles H and LE data,Climate Prediction Center soil moisture data,snow depth climatology data,and Chinese ground observations of snow depth and winter surface temperature.We compared these results with data from the ECMWF Interim reanalysis(ERA-Interim)and Global Land Data Assimilation System(GLDAS).Our results indicated that CAMS-CSM simulations were better than or comparable to ERA-Interim reanalysis for snow depth and winter surface temperature at regional scales,but slightly worse when simulating total column soil moisture.The root-mean-square differences of H in CAMS-CSM were all greater than those from the ERA-Interim reanalysis,but less than or comparable to those from GLDAS.The spatial correlations for H in CAMS-CSM were the lowest in nearly all regions,except for North America.CAMS-CSM LE produced the lowest bias in Siberia,North America,and South America,but with the lowest spatial correlation coefficients.Therefore,there are still scopes for improving H and LE simulations in CAMS-CSM,particularly for LE.Guo ZHANG JiANDuo LI Xinyao RONG Yufei XIN Jian LI Haoming CHEN Jingzhi SU Lijuan HUA 2018Journal of Meteorological Research2018,32,6:1

17A systemic review of hydrogen supply chain in energy transition显示文摘Targeting the net-zero emission(NZE)by 2050,the hydrogen industry is drastically developing in recent years.However,the technologies of hydrogen upstream production,midstream transportation and storage,and downstream utilization are facing obstacles.In this paper,the development of hydrogen industry from the production,transportation and storage,and sustainable economic development perspectives were reviewed.The current challenges and future outlooks were summarized consequently.In the upstream,blue hydrogen is dominating the current hydrogen supply,and an implementation of carbon capture and sequestration(CCS)can raise its cost by 30%.To achieve an economic feasibility,green hydrogen needs to reduce its cost by 75%to approximately 2$/kg at the large scale.The research progress in the midterm sector is still in a preliminary stage,where experimental and theoretical investigations need to be conducted in addressing the impact of embrittlement,contamination,and flammability so that they could provide a solid support for material selection and largescale feasibility studies.In the downstream utilization,blue hydrogen will be used in producing value-added chemicals in the short-term.Over the long-term,green hydrogen will dominate the market owing to its high energy intensity and zero carbon intensity which provides a promising option for energy storage.Technologies in the hydrogen industry require a comprehensive understanding of their economic and environmental benefits over the whole life cycle in supporting operators and policymakers.Haoming MA Zhe SUN Zhenqian XUE Chi ZHANG Zhangxing CHEN 2023Frontiers in Energy2023,17,1:1
18Ambient Temperature and Years of Life Lost:A National Study in China显示文摘Although numerous studies have investigated premature deaths attributable to temperature,effects of temperature on years of life lost(YLL)remain unclear.We estimated the relationship between temperatures and YLL,and quantified the YLL per death caused by temperature in China.We collected daily meteorological and mortality data,and calculated the daily YLL values for 364 locations(2013–2017 in Yunnan,Guangdong,Hunan,Zhejiang,and Jilin provinces,and 2006–2011 in other locations)in China.A time-series design with a distributed lag nonlinear model was first employed to estimate the location-specific associations between temperature and YLL rates(YLL/100,000 population),and a multivariate meta-analysis model was used to pool location-specific associations.Then,YLL per death caused by temperatures was calculated.The temperature and YLL rates consistently showed U-shaped associations.A mean of 1.02(95%confidence interval:0.67,1.37)YLL per death was attributable to temperature.Cold temperature caused 0.98 YLL per death with most from moderate cold(0.84).The mean YLL per death was higher in those with cardiovascular diseases(1.14),males(1.15),younger age categories(1.31 in people aged 65–74 years),and in central China(1.34)than in those with respiratory diseases(0.47),females(0.87),older people(0.85 in people R75 years old),and northern China(0.64)or southern China(1.19).The mortality burden was modified by annual temperature and temperature variability,relative humidity,latitude,longitude,altitude,education attainment,and central heating use.Temperatures caused substantial YLL per death in China,which was modified by demographic and regional characteristics.Tao Liu Chunliang Zhou Haoming Zhang Biao Huang Yanjun Xu Lifeng Lin Lijun Wang Ruying Hu Zhulin Hou Yize Xiao Junhua Li Xiaojun Xu Donghui Jin Mingfang Qin Qinglong Zhao Weiwei Gong Peng Yin Yiqing Xu Jianxiong Hu Jianpeng Xiao Weilin Zeng Xing Li Siqi Chen Lingchuan Guo Zuhua Rong Yonghui Zhang Cunrui Huang Yaodong Du Yuming Guo Shannon Rutherford Min Yu Maigeng Zhou Wenjun Ma 2021The Innovation2021,2,1:1

20Single-walled carbon nanotube based SERS substrate with single molecule sensitivity显示文摘In single molecule study,surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)has the advantage of specifically providing structural information of the molecules targeted.The main challenge in single molecule SERS is developing reusable plasmonic substrates that ensures single molecule sensitivity and acquires intrinsic information of molecules.Here,we proposed a strategy to utilize single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs)to construct SERS substrates.Employing ultrasonic spray pyrolysis,we prepared in situ polyhedral gold nanocrystals closely spaced and attached to nanotubes,ensuring valid hot spots formed along the tube-walls.With such SERS substrates,we proved the single molecule detection by the statistical analysis based on the natural abundance of isotopes.Since SWNTs provide non-chemical bonding adsorption sites,our SERS substrates are easily reusable and have a unique advantage of preserving the intrinsic property of the molecules detected.Using SWNTs to build SERS substrates may become a powerful general strategy in various static and dynamic studies of single molecules.Chenmaya Xia Daqi Zhang Henan Li Sheng Li Haoming Liu Li Ding Xiyan Liu Min Lyu Ruoming Li Juan Yang Yan Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,1:0
