| 1 | Atomization Inhalation of Terbutaline and Budesonide Efficiently Improved Immunity and Lung Function of AECOPD Patients显示文摘Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a syndrome of chronic progressive airflow limitation as a result of chronic inflammation of the airways and lung parenchyma. COPD patients always have airway hyperreactivity (AHR),so how to reduce AHR becomes the key purpose of clinical treatment. It is hypothesized that combined inhalation of corticosteroids and β2-agonists can reduce the AHR in COPD. In this study,atomization inhalation of budesonide and terbutaline plus conventional therapies was applied to treat AECOPD (acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patients for two weeks. The results showed that additional inhalation of budesonide and terbutaline could upregulate serum IL-2 levels,the percentages of CD3+ T and CD4+ T cells,and CD4/CD8 ratio,and decrease eosinophils and serum CRP level more efficiently than conventional treatment in patients with AECOPD. And the lung function of the atomization inhalation group was improved more obviously after the treatment compared with the conventional treatment group. | 3 | Development of composite PLGA microspheres containing exenatide-encapsulated lecithin nanoparticles for sustained drug release显示文摘This study aimed to prepare poly(D, L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) microspheres(PLGA-Ms)by a modified solid-in-oil-in-water(S/O/W) multi-emulsion technique in order to achieve sustained release with reduced initial burst and maintain efficient drug concentration for a prolonged period of time. Composite PLGA microspheres containing exenatideencapsulated lecithin nanoparticles(Ex-NPs-PLGA-Ms) were obtained by initial fabrication of exenatide-loaded lecithin nanoparticles(Ex-NPs) via the alcohol injection method,followed by encapsulation of Ex-NPs into PLGA microspheres. Compared to Ms prepared by the conventional water-in-oil-in-water(W/O/W) technique(Ex-PLGA-Ms), Ex-NPs-PLGAMs showed a more uniform particle size distribution, reduced initial burst release, and sustained release for over 60 d in vitro. Cytotoxicity studies showed that Ms prepared by both techniques had superior biocompatibility without causing any detectable cytotoxicity.In pharmacokinetic studies, the effective drug concentration was maintained for over 30 d following a single subcutaneous injection of two types of Ms formulation in rats, potentially prolonging the therapeutic action of Ex. | 5 | Facile Approach to Synthesize Gold Nanorod@Polyacrylic Acid/Calcium Phosphate Yolk–Shell Nanoparticles for Dual-Mode Imaging and pH/NIR-Responsive Drug Delivery显示文摘A facile strategy to fabricate gold nanorod@polyacrylic acid/calcium phosphate(Au NR@-PAA/Ca P) yolk–shell nanoparticles(NPs) composed with a PAA/Ca P shell and an Au NR yolk is reported. The asobtained Au NR@PAA/Ca P yolk–shell NPs possess ultrahigh doxorubicin(DOX) loading capability(1 mg DOX/mg NPs), superior photothermal conversion property(26%)and p H/near-infrared(NIR) dual-responsive drug delivery performance. The released DOX continuously increased due to the damage of the Ca P shell at low p H values. When the DOX-loaded Au NR@PAA/Ca P yolk–shell NPs wereexposed to NIR irradiation, a burst-like drug release occurs owing to the heat produced by the Au NRs. Furthermore,Au NR@PAA/Ca P yolk–shell NPs are successfully employed for synergic dual-mode X-ray computed tomography/photoacoustic imaging and chemo-photothermal cancer therapy. | 6 | Combined pollution of arsenic and Polymyxin B enhanced arsenic toxicity and enriched ARG abundance in soil and earthworm gut microbiotas显示文摘Polymyxin B(PMB)is considered as the last line of antibiotic defense available to humans.The environmental effects of the combined pollution with PMB and heavy metals and their interaction mechanisms are unclear.We explored the effects of the combined pollution with PMB and arsenic(As)on the microbial composition of the soil and in the earthworm gut,as well as the spread and transmission of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).The results showed that,compared with As alone,the combined addition of PMB and As could significantly increase the bioaccumulation factor and toxicity of As in earthworm tissues by 12.1%and 16.0%,respectively.PMB treatment could significantly increase the abundance of Actinobacteria in the earthworm gut(from 35.6%to 45.2%),and As stress could significantly increase the abundance of Proteobacteria(from 19.8%to 56.9%).PMB and As stress both could significantly increase the abundance of ARGs and mobile genetic elements(MGEs),which were positively correlated,indicating that ARGs might be horizontally transferred.The inactivation of antibiotics was the main resistance mechanism that microbes use to resist PMB and As stress.Network analysis showed that PMB and As might have antagonistic effects through competition with multi-drug resistant ARGs.The combined pollution by PMB and As significantly promoted the relative abundance of microbes carrying multi-drug resistant ARGs and MGEs,thereby increasing the risk of transmission of ARGs.This research advances the understanding of the interaction mechanism between antibiotics and heavy metals and provides new theoretical guidance for the environmental risk assessment and combined pollution management. | Lyu Li Dong Zhu Xingyun Yi Jianqiang Su Guilan Duan Xianjin Tang Yongguan Zhu | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,11: | 2 |
| 7 | Electrodeposition of Pt-Decorated Ni(OH)_(2)/CeO_(2) Hybrid as Superior Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Water Splitting显示文摘The facile synthesis of highly active and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts to catalyze water splitting is attractive but challenging.Herein,we report the electrodeposition of Pt-decorated Ni(OH)_(2)/CeO_(2)(PNC)hybrid as an efficient and robust bifunctional electrocatalyst.The graphite-supported PNC catalyst delivers superior hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)activities over the benchmark Pt/C and RuO_(2),respectively.For overall water electrolysis,the PNC hybrid only requires a cell voltage of 1.45V at 10mAcm-2 and sustains over 85 h at 1000mAcm^(-2).The remarkable HER/OER performances are attributed to the superhydrophilicity and multiple effects of PNC,in which Ni(OH)_(2)and CeO_(2)accelerate HER on Pt due to promoted water dissociation and strong electronic interaction,while the electron-pulling Ce cations facilitate the generation of high-valence Ni OER-active species.These results suggest the promising application of PNC for H2 production from water electrolysis. | Huanhuan Liu Zhenhua Yan Xiang Chen Jinhan Li Le Zhang Fangming Liu Guilan Fan Fangyi Cheng | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 2 |
| 8 | Root exudates increased arsenic mobility and altered microbial community in paddy soils显示文摘Root exudates are crucial for plants returning organic matter to soils,which is assumed to be a major source of carbon for the soil microbial community.This study investigated the influence of root exudates on the fate of arsenic(As)with a lab simulation experiment.Our findings suggested that root exudates had a dose effect on the soil physicochemical properties,As speciation transformation and the microbial community structure at different concentrations.The addition of root exudates increased the soil pH while decreased the soil redox potential(Eh).These changes in the soil pH and Eh increased As and ferrous(Fe(Ⅱ))concentrations in soil porewater.Results showed that 40 mg/L exudates addition significantly increased arsenite(As(Ⅲ))and arsenate(As(Ⅴ))by 541 and 10 times respectively within 30 days in soil porewater.The relative abundance of Fe(Ⅲ)-reducing bacteria Geobacter and Anaeromyxobacter increased with the addition of root exudates,which enhanced microbial Fe reduction.Together these results suggest that investigating how root exudates affect the mobility and transformation of As in paddy soils is helpful to systematically understand the biogeochemical cycle of As in soil-rice system,which is of great significance for reducing the health risk of soil As contamination. | Ouyuan Jiang Lvyao Li Guilan Duan Williamson Gustave Weiwei Zhai Lina Zou Xia An Xianjin Tang Jianming Xu | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,5: | 2 |

| 12 | Association Between Lipid Profiles and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy:New Evidence from a Retrospective Study显示文摘Objective To explore the association between lipid profiles and left ventricular hypertrophy in a Chinese general population.Methods We conducted a retrospective observational study to investigate the relationship between lipid markers[including triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol,non-HDL-cholesterol,apolipoprotein A-I,apolipoprotein B,lipoprotein[a],and composite lipid profiles]and left ventricular hypertrophy.A total of 309,400 participants of two populations(one from Beijing and another from nationwide)who underwent physical examinations at different health management centers between 2009 and 2018 in China were included in the cross-sectional study.7,475 participants who had multiple physical examinations and initially did not have left ventricular hypertrophy constituted a longitudinal cohort to analyze the association between lipid markers and the new-onset of left ventricular hypertrophy.Left ventricular hypertrophy was measured by echocardiography and defined as an end-diastolic thickness of the mterventricular septum or left ventricle posterior wall>11 mm.The Logistic regression model was used in the cross-sectional study.Cox model and Cox model with restricted cubic splines were used in the longitudinal cohort.Results In the cross-sectional study for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[odds ratio(OR):1.2S0,95%CI:1.060 to 1.474],HDL-cholesterol(OR:0.780,95%CI:0.662 to 0.918),and lipoprotein(a)(OR:1.311,95%C7:1.115 to 1.541)had an association with left ventricular hypertrophy.In the longitudinal cohort,for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker at the baseline compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[hazard ratio(HR):3.277,95%C/:1.720 to 6.244],HDL-cholesterol(HR:0.516,95%C7:0.283 to 0.940),non-HDL-cholesterol(HR:2.309,95%C/:1.296 to 4.112),apolipoprotein B(HR:2.244,95%CI:1.251 to 4.032)showed an association with new-onset left ventricular hypertrophy.In the Cox model with forward stepwise selection,triglycerides were the only lipid markers entered into the final model.Conclusion Lipids levels,especially triglycerides,are associated with left ventricular hypertrophy.Controlling triglycerides level potentiate to be a strategy in harnessing cardiac remodeling but deserve to be furdier investigated. | Xuewei Huang Keqiong Deng Juanjuan Qin Fang Lei Xingyuan Zhang Wenxin Wang Lijin Lin Yuming Zheng Dongai Yao Huiming Lu Feng Liu Lidong Chen Guilan Zhang Yueping Liu Qiongyu Yang Jingjing Cai Zhigang She Hongliang Li | 2022 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2022,37,2: | 1 |

| 15 | Oxidation Experiment of Natural Megacrystal Clinopyroxene:Implications for Assignment of Mssbauer Spectra显示文摘The M?ssbauer spectra of natural megacrystal clinopyroxene are usually fitted by 4 sets of symmetric doublets, A-A(, B-B(, C-C( and D-D(, respectively, in terms of increasing Qs value in literature. But the assignments of those doublets are quite different, except the D-D( doublet assigned to Fe3+ at the lattice site M1 in previous papers. Particularly, the assignment and interpretation of the C-C' doublet are diverse. The oxidation experiments of natural megacrystal clinopyroxene collected from the Hannuoba basalt, North China, were performed under controlled conditions of temperature at 1000oC and oxygen fugacity of FMQ buffer in 1, 2, 3 and 5 days respectively. The oxidized samples were then measured by X-ray diffraction spectrometry and M?ssbauer spectrometry. The oxidation of clinopyroxene is characterized by Fe2+ → Fe3+ at M1 under the subsolidus conditions, which is consistent with the increase of the area of the D-D( doublet when the heating time increases. Accordingly, the area of the A-A( and B-B( doublets decreases with the increasing heating time. However, the area of C-C' keeps almost constant. Therefore, the 4 sets of doublets can be assigned correctly as follows: A-A( doublet to Fe+2 at M1, B-B( Fe2+ at M1, C-C( Fe2+ at M2, and D-D( Fe3+ at M1. The M1 site splitting is due to the NNN (Next Nearest Neighbour) effect of the M2 site.
