| 1 | Ca^(2+)-supplying black phosphorus-based scaffolds fabricated with microfluidic technology for osteogenesis显示文摘Effective osteogenesis remains a challenge in the treatment of bone defects.The emergence of artificial bone scaffolds provides an attractive solution.In this work,a new biomineralization strategy is proposed to facilitate osteogenesis through sustaining supply of nutrients including phosphorus(P),calcium(Ca),and silicon(Si).We developed black phosphorus(BP)-based,three-dimensional nanocomposite fibrous scaffolds via microfluidic technology to provide a wealth of essential ions for bone defect treatment.The fibrous scaffolds were fabricated from 3D poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA)nanofibers(3D NFs),BP nanosheets,and hydroxyapatite(HA)-porous SiO2 nanoparticles.The 3D BP@HA NFs possess three advantages:i)stably connected pores allow the easy entrance of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)into the interior of the 3D fibrous scaffolds for bone repair and osteogenesis;ii)plentiful nutrients in the NFs strongly improve osteogenic differentiation in the bone repair area;iii)the photothermal effect of fibrous scaffolds promotes the release of elements necessary for bone formation,thus achieving accelerated osteogenesis.Both in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that the 3D BP@HA NFs,with the assistance of NIR laser,exhibited good performance in promoting bone regeneration.Furthermore,microfluidic technology makes it possible to obtain high-quality 3D BP@HA NFs with low costs,rapid processing,high throughput and mass production,greatly improving the prospects for clinical application.This is also the first BP-based bone scaffold platform that can self-supply Ca^(2+),which may be the blessedness for older patients with bone defects or patients with damaged bones as a result of calcium loss. | Zhanrong Li Xingcai Zhang Jiang Ouyang Dandan Chu Fengqi Han Liuqi Shi Ruixing Liu Zhihua Guo Grace X.Gu Wei Tao Lin Jin Jingguo Li | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,11: | 4 |

| 7 | Dissolved organic carbon concentration and its seasonal variation in the Huguangyan Maar Lake of Southern China显示文摘The dissolved organic carbon(DOC)in the surface water of Huguangyan Maar Lake was continuously monitored based on once per week sampling frequency of 4 locations from June 2018 to May 2019.The DOC concentrations and its seasonal variation were discussed by correlating with the rainfall,water temperature,and p H of lake water.The results showed that the weekly DOC varied from 8.15 to 32.65 mg/L with an annual average concentration of 17.96 mg/L.There was a significant difference in the average DOC concentrations between the rainy and dry seasons as the monthly average DOC concentration was 21.72 mg/L for the wet season compared to the dry season concentration of 14.21 mg/L.The rainfall shows a significant effect on the DOC concentration of lake water,as DOC concentration was much high during the wet season.There were no significant spatial variations in the average monthly concentration among the four sampling locations except occasional variation during the wet season.The reason for the wet season DOC differences among four sampling locations is likely due to the uneven runoff and underground water inputs and the relatively slow circulation of lake water.Finally,the seasonal fluctuation of DOC concentration in this closed lake water suggests that dissolved soil organic matter inputs through the rainfall related to surface runoff and subsurface infiltration from the surrounding watershed land is important to the primary production and organic matter deposition in the lake sediments. | Grace A.Abarike Zhiguang Song Yongqian Han Sibo Wang Wen Bin Liu Yaoqian | 2021 | Acta Geochimica2021,40,5: | 1 |

| 9 | Effect of Loss-of-function of the Herpes Simplex Virus-1 microRNA H6-5p on Virus Replication显示文摘To date, 29 distinct microRNAs(miRNAs) have been reported to be expressed during herpes simplex virus infections.Sequence analysis of mature herpes simplex virus-1(HSV-1) miRNAs revealed five sets of miRNAs that are complementary to each other: miR-H6-5p/H1-3p, miR-H6-3p/H1-5p, H2-5p/H14-3p, miR-H2-3p/H14-5p, and miR-H7/H27.However, the roles of individual miRNAs and consequences of this complementarity remain unclear. Here, we focus on two of these complementary miRNAs, miR-H6-5p and miR-H1-3p, using loss-of-function experiments in vitro and in a mouse model of infection using an miRNA sponge approach, including tandem multiplex artificial miRNA-binding sequences that do not match perfectly to the target miRNA inserted downstream of a green fluorescent protein reporter gene. Infection with recombinant virus expressing the miR-H6-5p sponge reduced viral protein levels and virus yield.Decreased accumulation of viral proteins was also observed at early stages of infection in the presence of both an miR-H6-5p inhibitor and plasmid-expressed miR-H1-3p. Moreover, establishment of latency and reactivation did not differ between the recombinant virus expressing the miR-H6-5p sponge and wild-type HSV-1. Taken together, these data suggest that miR-H6-5p has an as-yet-unidentified role in the early stages of viral infection, and its complement miR-H1-3p suppresses this role in later stages of infection.
