2Correlation between the cumulative analgesic effect of electroacupuncture intervention and synaptic plasticity of hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus neurons in rats with sciatica显示文摘In the present study, a rat model of chronic neuropathic pain was established by ligation of the sciatic nerve and a model of learning and memory impairment was established by ovariectomy to investigate the analgesic effect of repeated electroacupuncture stimulation at bilateral Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34). In addition, associated synaptic changes in neurons in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus were examined. Results indicate that the thermal pain threshold (paw withdrawal latency) was significantly increased in rats subjected to 2-week electroacupuncture intervention compared with 2-day electroacupuncture, but the analgesic effect was weakened remarkably in ovariectomized rats with chronic constrictive injury. 2-week electroacupuncture intervention substantially reversed the chronic constrictive injury-induced increase in the synaptic cleft width and thinning of the postsynaptic density. 5Acupuncture effects on the hippocampal cholinergic system in a rat model of neuropathic pain显示文摘The present study observed the effects of repeated electroacupuncture of Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34) on expression of hippocampal acetylcholinesterase, vesicular acetylcholine transporter, and muscarinic M1 receptor mRNA in chronic constrictive injury (neuropathic pain) and/or ovariotomy rats. Results demonstrated increased expression of hippocampal acetylcholinesterase, vesicular acetylcholine transporter, and muscarinic M1 receptor mRNA, as well as decreased pain threshold, in a rat model of chronic neuropathic pain after electroacupuncture. The effects of electroacupuncture increased with prolonged time, but the above-mentioned effects decreased in memory-deficient animals. 6Differential protein expression in spinal cord tissue of a rabbit model of spinal cordischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into an ischemia group(occlusion of the abdominal aorta for 60 minutes),an ischemia-reperfusion group(occlusion of the abdominal aorta for 60 minutes followed by 48 hours of reperfusion) and a sham-surgery group.Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis detected 49 differentially expressed proteins in spinal cord tissue from the ischemia and ischemia/reperfusion groups and 23 of them were identified by mass spectrometry.In the ischemia group,the expression of eight proteins was up regulated,and that of the remaining four proteins was down regulated.In the ischemia/reperfusion group,the expression of four proteins was up regulated,and that of two proteins was down regulated.In the sham-surgery group,only one protein was detected.In the ischemia and ischemia/reperfusion groups,four proteins overlapped between groups with the same differential expression,including three that were up regulated and one down regulated.These proteins were related to energy metabolism,cell defense,inflammatory mechanism and cell signaling.Qi Gao Yonghui Liang Xiaoyu Yang Guifeng Liu Xiaoxue Li Benqing Zhu Jian Liu Maoguang Yang Weiwei Xia Jian Dong Jianhang Jiao 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,20:4
7Acute carbon monoxide poisoning in Shandong, China: an observational study显示文摘Background: Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning remains a major cause of accidental injuries and multiple studies have indicated that CO is also associated with significantly severe or long-term toxicity to the central nervous system. Given that CO poisoning causes serious morbidity and mortality, a better understanding of epidemiological features and clinical characteristics of acute CO poisoning in China is crucial.Methods: We collected the clinical data of acute CO poisoning in patients between November 2019 and April 2020 across Shandong province, China and analyzed its characteristics focusing on the weekly amount and the severity of the confirmed cases.Results: A total number of 21,088 acute CO poisoning cases were diagnosed. The overall incidence of acute CO poisoning was approximately 0.021%. On severity rankings, 63% of confirmed cases (n=13,378) were mild, 27%(n=5635) were moderate, and 10% (n=2075) were severe. Interestingly, the coastal cities had more confirmed cases than the inland/suburban areas in Shandong. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases was negatively correlated with the local mean daily temperature (P=0.0167).Conclusions: Mild acute CO poisoning cases accounted for the majority of all confirmed cases during the winter of 2019. 8The cumulative analgesic effect of repeated electroacupuncture involves synaptic remodeling in the hippocampal CA3 region显示文摘In the present study, we examined the analgesic effect of repeated electroacupuncture at bilateral Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34) once a day for 14 consecutive days in a rat model of chronic sciatic nerve constriction injury-induced neuropathic pain. In addition, concomitant changes in calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II expression and synaptic ultrastructure of neurons in the hippocampal CA3 region were examined. The thermal pain threshold (paw withdrawal latency) was increased significantly in both groups at 2 weeks after electroacupuncture intervention compared with 2 days of electroacupuncture. In ovariectomized rats with chronic constriction injury, the analgesic effect was significantly reduced. Electroacupuncture for 2 weeks significantly diminished the injury-induced increase in synaptic cleft width and thinning of the postsynaptic density, and it significantly suppressed the down-regulation of intracellular calcium/ calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II expression in the hippocampal CA3 region. 10Degradation of dissolved organic matter in effluent of municipal wastewater plant by a combined tidal and subsurface flow constructed wetland显示文摘Dissolved organic matter(DOM)is an important constituent of wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)effluent.A novel combined tidal and subsurface flow constructed wetland(TF-SSFCW)of 90 L was constructed for a ten-month trial of advanced treatment of the WWTP effluent.Excitation emission matrix(EEM)fluorescence spectroscopy,parallel factor(PARAFAC)analysis and a two end-member mixing model were employed to characterize the composition and removal process of the effluent DOM(EfOM)from the WWTP.The results showed that the TF-SSF-CW performed an efficient EfOM removal with dissolved organic carbon(DOC)removal rate of 88%and dissolved organic nitrogen(DON)removal rate of 91%.Further analysis demonstrated that the EfOM consisted mainly of two protein moieties and two humic-like groups;protein moieties(76%)constituted the main content of EfOM in raw water and humic-like groups(57%)became the dominating contributor after treatment.The EfOM from the WWTP was mainly of aquatic bacterial origin and evolved to a higher proportion of terrigenous origin with higher humification in the TF-SSF-CW effluent.A common controlling treatment-related factor for determining the concentrations of the same kind of substances(protein groups or humic-like groups)was revealed to exist,and the ratio of removal rates between the same substances in treatment was calculated.Our study demonstrates that the TF-SSF-CW can be a novel and effective treatment method for the EfOM from WWTPs,and is helpful for understanding of the character of EfOM in wetland treatment.Chunjian Lyu Ruixia Liu Xiaojie Li Yonghui Song Hongjie Gao 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,8:2
11Genetic architecture of maize yield traits dissected by QTL mapping and GWAS in maize显示文摘The study of yield traits can reveal the genetic architecture of grain yield for improving maize production.In this study, an association panel comprising 362 inbred lines and a recombinant inbred line population derived from X178 × 9782 were used to identify candidate genes for nine yield traits. High-priority overlap(HPO) genes, which are genes prioritized in a genome-wide association study(GWAS), were investigated using coexpression networks. The GWAS identified 51 environmentally stable SNPs in two environments and 36 pleiotropic SNPs, including three SNPs with both attributes. Seven hotspots containing 41 trait-associated SNPs were identified on six chromosomes by permutation. Pyramiding of superior alleles showed a highly positive effect on all traits, and the phenotypic values of ear diameter and ear weight consistently corresponded with the number of superior alleles in tropical and temperate germplasm. A total of 61 HPO genes were detected after trait-associated SNPs were combined with the coexpression networks. Linkage mapping identified 16 environmentally stable and 16 pleiotropic QTL.Seven SNPs that were located in QTL intervals were assigned as consensus SNPs for the yield traits.Among the candidate genes predicted by our study, some genes were confirmed to function in seed development. The gene Zm00001 d016656 encoding a serine/threonine protein kinase was associated with five different traits across multiple environments. Some genes were uniquely expressed in specific tissues and at certain stages of seed development. 13Rational construction of self-assembly azobenzene derivative monolayers with photoswitchable surface properties显示文摘Photo-responsive azobenzene(ABZ) derivatives with different end groups(R) as photoswitchable molecules were employed to construct self-assembled monolayers(SAMs) on silicon substrate by using3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTS) as the bridging molecules. The assembly process was optimized by changing various parameters, including the type and concentration of ABZ derivatives,reaction time, etc. The obtained SAMs were fully characterized and evaluated using UV spectroscopy,atomic force microscope(AFM), elllipsometer, static contact angle and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). It is found that the end group property of azobenzene derivatives is critical to the obtained SAMs' photoresponsive properties. 20Long noncoding RNA(lncRNA)H19:An essential developmental regulator with expanding roles in cancer,stem cell differentiation,and metabolic diseases显示文摘Recent advances in deep sequencing technologies have revealed that,while less than 2%of the human genome is transcribed into mRNA for protein synthesis,over 80%of the genome is transcribed,leading to the production of large amounts of noncoding RNAs(ncRNAs).It has been shown that ncRNAs,especially long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs),may play crucial regulatory roles in gene expression.As one of the first isolated and reported lncRNAs,H19 has gained much attention due to its essential roles in regulating many physiological and/or pathological processes including embryogenesis,development,tumorigenesis,osteogen-esis,and metabolism.Mechanistically,H19 mediates diverse regulatory functions by serving as competing endogenous RNAs(CeRNAs),Igf2/H19 imprinted tandem gene,modular scaffold,cooperating with H19 antisense,and acting directly with other mRNAs or lncRNAs.Here,we summarized the current understanding of H19 in embryogenesis and development,cancer development and progression,mesenchymal stem cell lineage-specific differentiation,and metabolic diseases.We discussed the potential regulatory mechanisms underlying H19’s func-tions in those processes although more in-depth studies are warranted to delineate the exact molecular,cellular,epigenetic,and genomic regulatory mechanisms underlying the physiolog-ical and pathological roles of H19.Ultimately,these lines of investigation may lead to the development of novel therapeutics for human diseases by exploiting H19 functions.Junyi Liao Bowen Chen Zhenglin Zhu Chengcheng Du Shengqiang Gao Guozhi Zhao Piao Zhao Yonghui Wang Annie Wang Zander Schwartz Lily Song Jeffrey Hong William Wagstaff Rex CHaydon Hue HLuu Jiaming Fan Russell RReid Tong-Chuan He Lewis Shi Ning Hu Wei Huang 2023Genes & Diseases2023,10,4:1
