1The vegetation and climate change during Neocene and Early Quaternary in Jiuxi Basin, China显示文摘Sporopollen record in the Laojunmiao Section at Yumen in the Hexi Corridor foreland depression at the northern margin of the Tibetan Plateau revealed that during the period of 13.0―11.15 Ma the ecological environment of the Jiuxi Basin is characterized by steppe vegetation and a semi-moist climate. During 11.16―8.60 Ma prevailed forests of cypress and a still warmer, moister climate; steppe vegetation and dry climate began probably at about 8.6 Ma. Although aridification had been relaxed time and again during 8.40―6.93 Ma (forest-steppe, warm-semi-moist), 6.64―5.67 Ma (open-forest and steppe, warmer-semi-moist) and 5.42―4.96 Ma (steppe, semi-arid), the climate in the region became drier and drier in response to the fre- quent occurrence of aridity during 6.93―6.64 Ma (steppe, semi-arid), 5.67―5.42 Ma (de- sert-steppe, arid), 3.66―3.30 Ma (desert-steppe, arid) and 2.56―2.21 Ma (desert, arid). 2A model for parameter estimation of multistage centrifugal compressor and compressor performance analysis using genetic algorithm显示文摘A model for performance prediction of multistage centrifugal compressor is proposed.The model allows the users to predict the compressor performance,e.g.pressure ratio,efficiency and losses using the compressor geometric information and speed by a stage stacking calculation based on the characteristics of each stage.To develop the compressor elemental stage characteristics,the compressor losses,such as incidence losses and friction losses,are mathematically modeled.For a composite systems,for instance a gas turbine power plant,the performance of the multistage centrifugal compressor can be evaluated.Since some important parameters of the compressor model,e.g.,the slip factor,shock loss coefficient and reference diameter D1,are hard to be determined by empirical laws,a genetic algorithm(GA) is used to solve the parameter estimation problem of the proposed model,and in turn the compressor performance analysis and parameters study are performed.The surge line for the multistage centrifugal compressor can also be determined from the simulation results.Furthermore,the model presented here provides a valuable tool for evaluating the multistage centrifugal compressor performance as a function of various operation parameters.CHU Fei WANG FuLi WANG XiaoGang ZHANG ShuNing 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,11:8
3Characteristics of the phytoplankton community and bioaccumulation of heavy metals during algal blooms in Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China)显示文摘The frequency of algal blooms has increased in the mid and downstream reaches of the Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China),one of the most heavily polluted rivers in China.We identified the bloom-forming species in a bloom that occurred mid-late September 2010.In addition,we determined the extent of metal bioaccumulation in the algae and measured the toxicity of the algae using a mouse bioassay.Water samples were collected at upstream (Yongzhou),midstream (Hengyang),and downstream (Zhuzhou,Xiangtan,and Changsha) sites.The dominant species was Aulacoseira granulata,formerly known as Melosira granulata.The heaviest bloom occurred at Xiangtan and Changsha,where the number of A.granulata peaked at 1.3×10 5 filaments L 1 and chlorophyll a at 0.04 mg L 1.Concentrations of Al,Fe,and Mn were 4.4 10 3,768.4,and 138.7 mg kg 1 dry weight in the phytoplankton.The bioaccumulation factor was 4.0×10 5,7.7×10 5,and 3.2×10 3,respectively.The heavy metal Pb had the greatest tendency to bioaccumulate among the highly toxic heavy metals,with a concentration of 19.2 mg kg 1 dry weight and bioaccumulation factor of 9.6×10 3.The mouse bioassay suggested the bloom was toxic.The LD 50 was 384 mg kg 1 and all surviving mice lost weight during the first 72 h after exposure.Our results demonstrate that blooms of A.granulata in rivers contaminated with heavy metals pose a threat to freshwater ecosystems and human health.Thus,measures should be taken to control eutrophication and heavy metal pollution in such rivers.LI Jie PENG FuLi DING DongBo ZHANG ShuBing LI DeLiang ZHANG Ting 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,10:6
4In vivo flow cytometry reveals a circadian rhythm of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)is an established biomarker of cancer metastasis.The circulation dynamics of CTCs are important for understanding the mechanisms underlying tumor cell dissemination.Although studies have revealed that the circadian rhythm may disrupt the growth of tumors,it is generally unclear whether the circadian rhythm controls the release of CTCs.In clinical examinations,the current in vitro methods for detecting CTCs in blood samples are based on a fundamental assumption that CTC counts in the peripheral blood do not change significantly over time,which is being challenged by recent studies.Since it is not practical to draw blood from patients repeatedly,a feasible strategy to investigate the circadian rhythm of CTCs is to monitor them by in vivo detection methods.Fluoresce nee in vivo flow cytometry(IVFC)is a powerful optical technique that is able to detect fluoresce nt circulating cells directly in living animals in a noninvasive manner over a long period of time.In this study,we applied fluorescence IVFC to monitor CTCs noninvasively in an orthotopic mouse model of human prostate cancer.We observed that CTCs exhibited stochastic bursts over cancer progression.The probability of the bursting activity was higher at early stages than at late stages.We longitudinally monitored CTCs over a 24-h period,and our results revealed striking daily oscillations in CTC counts that peaked at the onset of the night(active phase for rodents),suggesting that the release of CTCs might be regulated by the circadian rhythm.Xi Zhu Yuanzhen Suo Yuting Fu Fuli Zhang Nan Ding Kai Pang Chengying Xie Xiaofu Weng Meilu Tian Hao He Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,6:6
5Dosimetric evaluation of VMAT radiation therapy technique for breast cancer after conservative surgery based on three different types of multileaf collimators显示文摘Objective Radiotherapy combined with conservative surgery plays an important role in the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. Volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) has been introduced into clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dosimetric effects of different multileaf collimators(MLC) on VMAT radiotherapy plans for treating breast cancer.Methods Fifteen breast cancer patients who were treated using a conventional technique in our department were selected to participate in this retrospective analysis. VMAT plans based on three types of Elekta MLCs [Beam Modulator(BM) with 4-mm leaf width, Agility with 5-mm leaf width and MLCi2 with 10-mm leaf width] were independently generated for each patient. Plan comparisons were performed based on dose-volume histogram(DVH) analysis including dosimetric parameters such as the homogeneity index(HI), conformity index(CI), Dmax, Dmin, and Dmean for the planning treatment volume(PTV), in addition to dose-volume parameters for the organs at risk(OARs). The delivery efficiency of the three types of MLCs was compared in terms of the beam delivery time and the monitor units(MUs) per fraction for each plan. Results Both target uniformity and conformity were improved in plans for Agility and BM MLC compared with the plan using MLCi2. The mean HI decreased from 1.14 for MLCi2 to 1.13 for BM and 1.10 for Agility, while the mean CI increased from 0.68 for MLCi2 to 0.73 for BM and 0.75 for Agility. Furthermore, at both low and high dose levels, smaller volumes of ipsilateral lung, heart, contralateral lung, and breast were irradiated with Agility MLC than with the other two types of MLCs. 6Arbitrary cylindrical vector beam generation enabled by polarization-selective Gouy phase shifter显示文摘Cylindrical vector beams(CVBs),which possess polarization distribution of rotational symmetry on the transverse plane,can be developed in many optical technologies.Conventional methods to generate CVBs contain redundant interferometers or need to switch among diverse elements,thus being inconvenient in applications containing multiple CVBs.Here we provide a passive polarization-selective device to substitute interferometers and simplify generation setup.It is accomplished by reversing topological charges of orbital angular momentum based on a polarization-selective Gouy phase.In the process,tunable input light is the only condition to generate a CVB with arbitrary topological charges.To cover both azimuthal and radial parameters of CVBs,we express the mapping between scalar Laguerre–Gaussian light on a basic Poincaré sphere and CVB on a high-order Poincaré sphere.The proposed device simplifies the generation of CVBs enormously and thus has potential in integrated devices for both quantum and classic optical experiments.JUNLIANG JIA KEPENG ZHANG GUANGWEI HU MAPING HU TONG TONG QUANQUAN MU HONG GAO FULI LI CHENG-WEI QIU PEI ZHANG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,6:4
7Probing the fractional topological charge of a vortex light beam by using dynamic angular double slits显示文摘Vortex beams with fractional topological charge(FTC) have many special characteristics and novel applications.However, one of the obstacles for their application is the difficulty of precisely determining the FTC of fractional vortex beams. We find that when a vortex beam with an FTC illuminates a dynamic angular double slit(ADS), the far-field interference patterns that include the information of the FTC of the beam at the angular bisector direction of the ADS vary periodically. 8Microglia modulation with 1070-nm light attenuates Aβ burden and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease mouse model显示文摘Photobiomodulation,by utilizing low-power light in the visible and near-infrared spectra to trigger biological responses in cells and tissues,has been considered as a possible therapeutic strategy for Alzheimer’s disease(AD),while its specific mechanisms have remained elusive.Here,we demonstrate that cognitive and memory impairment in an AD mouse model can be ameliorated by 1070-nm light via reducing cerebralβ-amyloid(Aβ)burden,the hallmark of AD.The glial cells,including microglia and astrocytes,play important roles in Aβclearance.Our results show that 1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz triggers microglia rather than astrocyte responses in AD mice.The 1070-nm lightinduced microglia responses with alteration in morphology and increased colocalization with Aβare sufficient to reduce Aβload in AD mice.Moreover,1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz can reduce perivascular microglia and promote angiogenesis to further enhance Aβclearance.Our study confirms the important roles of microglia and cerebral vessels in the use of 1070-nm light for the treatment of AD mice and provides a framework for developing a novel therapeutic approach for AD.Lechan Tao Qi Liu Fuli Zhang Yuting Fu Xi Zhu Xiaofu Weng Hongbin Han Yong Huang Yuanzhen Suo Liang Chen Xiaoling Gao Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10:4

10Active control of EIT-like response in a symmetry-broken metasurface with orthogonal electric dipolar resonators显示文摘The active control of electromagnetic response in metamaterial and mutual coupling between resonant building blocks is of fundamental importance in realizing high-quality metamaterials. In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate the tunabilities of symmetry-broken metasurfaces made of orthogonal electric dipolar resonators. The metasurface with vertical and horizontal wires is integrated with a PIN diode for active control.It is found that the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)-like spectrum appears due to the destructive or constructive interferences between the two electric dipolar modes when the structural symmetry broken is introduced to the metasurface. Different from previous works on the EIT-like effect, there is only electric dipole response in our metasuface. The microscopic response of the metasurface is numerically calculated to illustrate the mode coupling between the orthogonal electric dipolar resonators. 11Low-frequency HIFU induced cancer immunotherapy:tempting challenges and potential opportunities显示文摘Immunotherapy is playing an increasingly important role in the treatment of tumors.Different from the traditional direct killing or excision therapies,immunotherapy depends on autologous immunity to kill tumor cells and tissues by activating or enhancing the body's immune system.Large numbers of recent studies suggest that low-frequency HIFU can not only enhance the intensity of the body's anti-cancer immune response,but also improve the efficiency of immunotherapy drug delivery to strengthen the effects of tumor immunotherapy.The focused ultrasound(FUS)destructs the tumor and simultaneously generates tumor debris and tumor-associated antigens,which enhances the immunogenicity of the tumor and stimulates the immune cells,inducing the body's immune response.Microbubbles are clinically used as a contrast.As a matter of fact,the addition of microbubbles can reinforce the destructive effect of FUS on the tumor and activate a stronger immune response.The combined application of ultrasound and microbubbles can more effectively open the blood brain barrier(BBB),which is beneficial to improving the intake of immune cells or immunotherapy drugs and exerting a positive influence in the lesion area.Currently,microbubbles and nanoparticles are commonly used as gene and drug carriers.Using ultrasound,the immune-related gene or antigen delivery itself can enhance the immune response and improve the efficacy of the immunotherapy.Guilian Shi Mingchuan Zhong Fuli Ye Xiaoming Zhang 2019Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,4:3

14肺肿瘤位置和尺寸对正常肺组织剂量学参数影响的体模研究(英文)显示文摘Objective:The aim of the study was to study the effect of the size and location of tumors on the normal lung dose-volume parameters for lung cancer.Methods:Three spheres with diameters of 2, 3 and 4 cm made of tissue-equivalent materials used for simulating tumors were inserted into the upper lobe, middle lobe, lower lobe of the right lung, upper lobe, lower lobe of the left lung of the Rando phantom, respectively.Five-field simplified IMRT(sIMRT) planning were designed.The prescribed dose was 60 Gy/2 Gy/30 f, 99% of the planning target volume received this dose.Dose-volume parameters of normal lung tissues including relative volume of lung receiving ≥ 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 Gy(V5, V10, V20, V30, V50), and mean lung dose(MLD) were analyzed and compared.Results:For the dose-volume parameters, the diameter and the position of the tumor had a significant effect(P < 0.05).With the diameter expanding from 2 to 3 cm, the parameters associated with tumor lying in various lobes increased by a range between 3.83%-125.38%, while the parameters linked with tumors on different lobes increased by a range between 10.46%-51.46% with the diameter expanding from 3 to 4 cm.Conclusion:Location and size of sphere-like tumor have an obvious effect on dose-volume parameters.Knowing about the degree of influence will help oncologists and physicists better evaluate treatment planning, then the probability of radiation pneumonitis can be reduced.Fuli Zhang Mingmin Zheng Jinbao Zhang Jianping Chen Weidong Xu Junmao Gao 2010The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2010,9,3:2

18RNA-binding protein QKI regulates contact inhibition via Yes-associate protein in ccRCC显示文摘Contact inhibition adjusts organ size to the proper size and ensures the cultured cells growing to a monolayer.By regulating the downstream coordinator YAP,the evolutionarily conserved Hippo transduction pathway attunes cell growth and death in response to cell contact inhibition,polarity,self-renewal,and differentiation.Dysregulation of this pathway is involved in various diseases such as cancer.RNA-binding protein QKI regulates cell proliferation,metabolism,division,and immunity in various cancer models,but its role in cancer cell contact inhibition remains unclear.In this study,we aimed to clarify the relationship between QKI and YAP,and the role of their interaction in cell contact inhibition.We found a lower QKI expression level in sparse condition,whereas a higher expression level in confluent condition by western blot analysis and immunofluorescence assay.QKI knockdown elevated cell proliferation and invasion both in vitro and in vivo.Strikingly,the results of CCK-8 assay,colony formation assay,and transwell assay showed that the phenomenon was in accord with the expression level of pYAP and reverse with YAP.Higher levels of Wnt3a and β-catenin were also found in xenografts of QKI-knockdown clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) CAKI-1 cells by western blot analysis and immumohistochemical staining.Finally,a positive correlation between QKI and pYAP was found in clinical specimens by immunohistochemistry.Thus,as a negative regulator of YAP,QKI attuned the cell contact inhibition,leading to inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and invasion through Wnt and GPCR pathway.Zheng Zhu Di Wei Xi'an Li Fuli Wang Fei Yan Zibao Xing Zhao Yan Huanyu Lu Dongsheng Zhai Ziehen Ye Geng Zhang Ping Meng Yu Zheng Jiarui Yuan Zifan Lu Jianlin Yuan 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,1:2

20Learning to recognize misaligned hyperfine orbital angular momentum modes显示文摘Orbital angular momentum(OAM)-carrying beams have received extensive attention due to their high-dimensional characteristics in the context of free-space optical communication.However,accurate OAM mode recognition still suffers from reference misalignment of lateral displacement,beam waist size,and initial phase.Here we propose a deep-learning method to exquisitely recognize OAM modes under misalignment by using an alignment-free fractal multipoint interferometer.Our experiments achieve 98.35% recognizing accuracy when strong misalignment is added to hyperfine OAM modes whose Bures distance is 0.01.The maximum lateral displacement we added with respect to the perfectly on-axis beam is about±0.5 beam waist size.This work offers a superstable proposal for OAM mode recognition in the application of free-space optical communication and allows an increase of the communication capacity.Xiao Wang Yufeng Qian JingJing Zhang Guangdong Ma Shupeng Zhao RuiFeng Liu Hongrong Li Pei Zhang Hong Gao Feng Huang Fuli Li 2021Photonics Research2021,9,4:1
