| 1 | HY5-HDA9 Module Transcriptionally Regulates Plant Autophagy in Response to Light-to-Dark Conversion and Nitrogen Starvation显示文摘Light is arguably one of the most important environmental factors that determines virtually all aspects of plant growth and development,but the molecular link between light signaling and the autophagy pathway has not been elucidated in plants.In this study,we demonstrate that autophagy is activated during light-to-dark conversion though transcriptional upregulation of autophagy-related genes(ATGs).We showed that depletion of the ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5(HY5),a key component of light signaling,leads to enhanced autophagy activity and resistance to extended darkness and nitrogen starvation treatments,contributing to higher expression oiATGs.HY5 interacts with and recruits HISTONE DEACETYLASE 9(HDA9)to ATG5 and ATG8e loci to repress their expression by deacetylation of the Lys9 and Lys27 of histone 3.Furthermore,we found that both darkness and nitrogen depletion induce the degradation of HY5 via 26S proteasome and the concomitant disassociation of HDA9 from ATG5 and ATG8e loci,leading to their depression and thereby activated autophagy.Genetic analysis further confirmed that HY5 and HDA9 act synergistically and function upstream of the autophagy pathway.Collectively,our study unveils a previously unknown transcriptional and epigenetic network that regulates autophagy in response to light-to-dark conversion and nitrogen starvation in plants. | Chao Yang Wenjin Shen Lianming Yang Yun Sun Xibao Li Minyi Lai Juan Wei Chaojun Wang Yingchao Xu Faqiang Li Shan Liang Chengwei Yang Shangwei Zhong Ming Luo Caiji Gao | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,3: | 8 |
| 2 | Shake table study on precast segmental concrete double-column piers显示文摘Seismic capacity,including the ultimate load-carrying capacity and ultimate deformation capacity of precast segmental concrete double-column(PSCDC)piers with steel sleeve(SS)connection or grouted corrugated-metal duct(GCMD)connection,has been verified to be similar to those of cast-in-place(CIP)piers by quasi-static tests.However,the lack of knowledge of seismic response characteristics and damage process of PSCDC piers has limited their application in high-intensity seismic areas.Therefore,shake table tests,using variable types and intensities of seismic ground motions,were performed to investigate the seismic behavior of connection joints and to evaluate the seismic performance of PSCDC piers with SS and GCMD connections.Also,a finite element analysis(FEA)model was developed to study the influence of design parameters on the seismic behavior of the piers.The results showed that the main damage in PSCDC piers was caused by the cyclic opening and closing of connection joints.Under high-intensity ground motions,the PSCDC piers had a lower seismic performance than the CIP piers due to a significant decrease of their integrity and stiffness.The seismic performance of PSCDC piers is comparable to CIP piers when using an appropriate initial stress of the prestressing tendons. | Xia Zhanghua Ge Jiping Lin Youqin Qiu Faqiang | 2020 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2020,19,3: | 5 |

| 5 | SINAT E3 ligases regulate the stability of the ESCRT component FREE1 in response to iron deficiency in plants显示文摘The endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) machinery is an ancient, evolutionarily conserved membrane remodeling complex that is es-sential for multivesicular body (MVB) biogenesis in eu-karyotes. FYVE DOMAIN PROTEIN REQUIRED FOR EN-DOSOMAL SORTING 1 (FREE1), which was previously identified as a plant-specific ESCRT component, modu-lates MVB-mediated endosomal sorting and autophagic degradation. Although the basic cellular functions of FREE1 as an ESCRT component have been described, the regulators that control FREE1 turnover remain unknown. Here, we analyzed how FREE1 homeostasis is mediated by the RING-finger E3 ubiquitin ligases, SINA of Arabi-dopsis thaliana (SINATs), in response to iron deficiency. Under iron-deficient growth conditions, SINAT1-4 were induced and ubiquitinated FREE1, thereby promoting its degradation and relieving the repressive effect of FREE1 on iron absorption. By contrast, SINAT5, another SINAT member that lacks ubiquitin ligase activity due to the absence of the RING domain, functions as a protector protein which stabilizes FREE1. Experimental evidences indicate that a same final product of bcc Fe solid solution was formed upon miling for all samples. During the transformation, the XRD peaks of Fe phase shift to lower diffraction angIes; and those of borides disappear in turn, first the metastable Fe3B and Fe23B6 and then the stable Fe2B. | 14 | Theoretical calculations on the atomic and electronic structure of β-SiC(110) surface显示文摘We present a theoretical calculation of the atomic and electronic structure of β-SiC and its non-polar (110) surface using the full potential linear augmented plane wave (FPLAPW) approach. The calculated lattice constant and bulk modulus of p-SiC crystal are in excellent agreement with experimental data. The atomic and electronic structure of β-SiC(110) surface has been calculated by employing the slab and supercell model. It is found that the surface is characterized by a top-layer bond-length-contracting rotation relaxation in which the Si-surface atom moves closer towards the substrate while the C-surface atom moves outward. This relaxation is analogous to that of Ⅲ-Ⅴ semiconductor surface. The driving mechanism for this atomic rearrangement is that the Si atom tends to a planar sp2-like bonding situation with its three N neighbors and the N atom tends to a p3-like bonding with its three Si neighbors.
