2Impacts of Climatic Factors on Runoff Coefficients in Source Regions of the Huanghe River显示文摘Runoff coefficients of the source regions of the Huanghe River in 1956–2000 were analyzed in this paper. In the 1990s runoff of Tangnaihai Hydrologic Station of the Huanghe River experienced a serious decrease, which had at- tracted considerable attention. Climate changes have important impact on the water resources availability. From the view of water cycling, runoff coefficients are important indexes of water resources in a particular catchment. Kalinin baseflow separation technique was improved based on the characteristics of precipitation and streamflow. After the separation of runoff coefficient (R/P), baseflow coefficient (Br/P) and direct runoff coefficient (Dr/P) were estimated. Statistic analyses were applied to assessing the impact of precipitation and temperature on runoff coefficients (including Dr/P, Br/P and R/P). The results show that in the source regions of the Huanghe River, mean annual baseflow coefficient was higher than mean annual direct runoff coefficient. Annual runoff coefficients were in direct proportion to annual pre- cipitation and in inverse proportion to annual mean temperature. The decrease of runoff coefficients in the 1990s was closely related to the decrease in precipitation and increase in temperature in the same period. Over different sub-basins of the source regions of the Huanghe River, runoff coefficients responded differently to precipitation and temperature. In the area above Jimai Hydrologic Station where annual mean temperature is –3.9oC, temperature is the main factor in- fluencing the runoff coefficients. Runoff coefficients were in inverse relation to temperature, and precipitation had nearly no impact on runoff coefficients. In subbasin between Jimai and Maqu Hydrologic Station Dr/P was mainly affected by precipitation while R/P and Br/P were both significantly influenced by precipitation and temperature. In the area be-tween Maqu and Tangnaihai hydrologic stations all the three runoff coefficients increased with the rising of annual precipitation, while direct runoff coefficient was inversely proportional to temperature. 3Efficacy and safety of Yinchenwuling powder for hyperlipidemia: a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To assess the clinical effectiveness and adverse effects of Yinchenwuling powder(YCWLP)in the treatment of hyperlipidemia using Meta-analysis.METHODS:Seven electronic databases were searched for randomized controlled trials designed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of YCWLP for hyperlipidemia published in any language prior to February 2015.Two reviewers independently identified articles,extracted data,assessed quality,and cross-checked the results.Revman 5.3 was used to analyze the data.RESULTS:Only five randomized controlled trials with poor methodology were included in the analy-sis.The five trials compared YCWLP with conventional lipid-lowering drugs.Meta-analysis indicated that YCWLP was more effective at the levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides,while increasing the level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol without serious adverse effects.However,it was not more effective than lipid-lowering drugs in reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and improving hemorheology.CONCLUSION:YCWLP appeared to improve lipid levels.However,given the high risk of bias among the trials,we could not conclude that YCWLP was beneficial to patients with hyperlipidemia.More rigorous trials are required to provide stronger evidence for the conclusion.Yao Haiqiang Zhang Zengliang Wang Ji Zuo Jiacheng Chen Yu Zhu Libing Li Xiaoke Yang Zheng Wang Zisong Sun Ranran Xu Xuanxuan Li Changming Wu Yanling Li Lingru Wang Qi 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,2:11
4Germplasm Diversity of Chinese Kale in China显示文摘Chinese kale is an important vegetable crop in China, especially in South China where the majority of varieties are grown. It originated in South China and spread throughout Southeast Asia thereafter. Chinese kale can be classified into two types according to whether the petals are white or yellow. There are also three main cultivated types based on the edible organs, including the stalk and leaf type, the stalk type,and the leaf type. Two primary types have also been defined based on stalk color, including green stalks and red stalks. They are also cultivated based on the type of stalk, including main stalk and lateral stalk types. 6Linkage between water soluble organic matter and bacterial community in sediment from a shallow, eutrophic lake, Lake Chaohu, China显示文摘Lacustrine sediment played important roles in migration and transformation of its water soluble organic matter(WSOM), and the source and composition of WSOM would affect water trophic status and the fate of pollutants. However, we know little about the pathway of WSOM transformation and its driving bacterial communities in lacustrine sediment. In the present study, we investigated the spatial distribution patterns of sediment WSOM and its fluorescent fractions across Lake Chaohu using fluorescence spectroscopy, and explored WSOM compositional structure through our proposed calculated ratios. In addition, we also analyzed sediment bacterial community using Illumina sequencing technology, and probed the possible pathway of sediment WSOM transformation under the mediate of indigenous bacteria. Our results showed that the inflowing rivers affected the spatial distribution patterns of WSOM and its five fractions(including tyrosine-, tryptophan-, fulvic acid-, humic acid-like substances and soluble microbial productions), and sediment WSOM originated from fresh algae detritus or bacterial sources. In parallel, we also found that Proteobacteria(mainly γ-Proteobacteria and δ-Proteobacteria), Firmicutes(mainly Bacilli), Chloroflexi, Acidobacteria, Planctomycetes and Actinobacteria dominate sediment bacterial community. Furthermore, these dominant bacteria triggered sediment WSOM transformation, specifically, the humic acid-like substances could be converted into fulvic acid-like substances, and further degraded into aromatic protein-like and SMP substances. In addition, our proposed ratios(P-L:H-L, Ar-P:SMP and H-L ratio), as supplementary tool, were effective to reveal WSOM composition structure. 7Variation of the Kuroshio intrusion pathways northeast of Taiwan using the Lagrangian method显示文摘The seasonal variations of the Kuroshio intrusion pathways northeast of Taiwan were investigated using observational data from satellite-tracked sea surface drifters and a numerical particle-tracking experiment based on a high-resolution numerical ocean model. The results of sea surface drifter data observed from 1989 to 2013 indicate that the Kuroshio surface intrusion follows two distinct pathways: one is a northwestward intrusion along the northern coast of Taiwan Island, and the other is a direct intrusion near the turn of the shelf break. The former occurs primarily in the winter, while the latter exists year round. A particle-tracking experiment in the high-resolution numerical model reproduces the two observed intrusion paths by the sea surface drifters. The three-dimensional structure of the Kuroshio intrusion is revealed by the model results. 8Identification and Characterization of a LEA-like Gene, CaMF5,Specifically Expressed in the Anthers of Male-fertile Capsicum annuum显示文摘To improve the understanding of molecular mechanisms of anther and/or pollen development in Chili pepper, in the present study, fulllength cDNA and DNA sequences of the pollen development-related gene CaMF5 were obtained from the anthers of a Capsicum annuum nuclear male-fertile line. Sequence analysis indicated that the full length of CaMF5 was 747 bp, containing a maximum opening reading frame of 447 bp.Amino acid sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis revealed that CaMF5 shared approximately 37%–77% homology with a series of uncharacterized or hypothetical proteins and late embryogenesis abundant(LEA) proteins from other plants. However, no LEA structural domain was detected in CaMF5, which indicated that it might be a new type of LEA gene. CaMF5 was only expressed in flower buds at stages 7 and 8 and in open flowers of the male-fertile line, whereas it exhibited no expression in any examined organs of the male-sterile line. In addition, CaMF5 showed the highest transcript abundance in the anthers of the male-fertile line, with no expression being detected in any other examined organs, such as the sepals, petals, pistils, roots, stems, or leaves. 9Coexpression network analysis reveals an MYB transcriptional activator involved in capsaicinoid biosynthesis in hot peppers显示文摘Plant biosynthesis involves numerous specialized metabolites with diverse chemical natures and biological activities.The biosynthesis of metabolites often exclusively occurs in response to tissue-specific combinatorial developmental cues that are controlled at the transcriptional level.Capsaicinoids are a group of specialized metabolites that confer a pungent flavor to pepper fruits.Capsaicinoid biosynthesis occurs in the fruit placenta and combines its developmental cues.Although the capsaicinoid biosynthetic pathway has been largely characterized,the regulatory mechanisms that control capsaicinoid metabolism have not been fully elucidated.In this study,we combined fruit placenta transcriptome data with weighted gene coexpression network analysis(WGCNA)to generate coexpression networks.A capsaicinoid-related gene module was identified in which the MYB transcription factor CaMYB48 plays a critical role in regulating capsaicinoid in pepper.Capsaicinoid biosynthetic gene(CBG)and CaMYB48 expression primarily occurs in the placenta and is consistent with capsaicinoid biosynthesis.CaMYB48 encodes a nucleus-localized protein that primarily functions as a transcriptional activator through its C-terminal activation motif.CaMYB48 regulates capsaicinoid biosynthesis by directly regulating the expression of CBGs,including AT3a and KasIa.Taken together,the results of this study indicate ways to generate robust networks optimized for the mining of CBG-related regulators,establishing a foundation for future research elucidating capsaicinoid regulation.Binmei Sun Xin Zhou Changming Chen Chengjie Chen Kunhao Chen Muxi Chen Shaoqun Liu Guoju Chen Bihao Cao Fanrong Cao Jianjun Lei Zhangsheng Zhu 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:5
10Changes in soil carbon sequestration and soil respiration following afforestation on paddy fields in north subtropical China显示文摘Aims Although many studies have reported net gains of soil organic carbon(SOC)after afforestation on croplands,this is uncertain for Chinese paddy rice croplands.Here,we aimed to evaluate the effects of affores-tation of paddy rice croplands on SOC sequestration and soil respiration(R).Such knowledge would improve our understanding of the efctive-ness of various land use options on greenhouse gas mitigation in China.Methods The investigation was conducted on the Chongming Island,north subtropical China.Field sites were reclaimed from coastal salt marshes in the 1960s,and soils were homogeneous with simple land use:histories.SOC stocks and R,levels were monitored over one year in a paddy rice cropland,an evergreen and a deciduous broad-leaved plantation established on previous paddy fields and a reference fal-low land site never cultivated.Laboratory incubation of soil under fast-changing temperatures was used to compare the temperature sensitivity(Q10)of SOC decomposition across land uses.Important Findings After 15-20 years of afforestation on paddy fields,SOC concentra-tion only slightly increased at the depth of 0--5 cm but decreased in deeper layers,which resulted in a net loss of SOC stock in the top 40cm.Seasonal increase of sOC was observed during the rice-growing period in croplands but not in afforested soils,suggest-ing a stronger SOC sequestration by paddy rice cropping.However,SOC sequestered under cropping was more labile,as indicated by its higher contents of dissolved organic carbon and microbial bio-mass.Also,paddy soils had higher annual R,than afforested soils;R,abruptly increased after paddy fields were drained and plowed and remained distinctively high throughout the dry farming period.Laboratory incubation revealed that paddy soils had a much higher Q10 of SOC decomposition than afforested soils.Given that tem-perature was the primary controller of R,in this region,it was con-cluded that despite the stronger SOC sequestration by paddy rice cropping,its SOC was less stable than in afforested systems and might be more easily released into the atmosphere under global warming.Jun Cui Rongjuan Zhang Naishun Bu Huabin Zhang Boping Tang Zhaolei Li Lifeng Jiang Jiakuan Chen Changming Fang 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,3:4
11Divergent patterns of foliar δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N in Quercus aquifolioides with an altitudinal transect on the Tibetan Plateau: an integrated study based on multiple key leaf functional traits显示文摘Aims With a close association with plant water availability,foliar δ^(13)C had been investigated extensively in alpine regions;however,foliar δ^(15)N has rarely been concurrently used as an indicator of plant nitrogen availability.Due to the positive correlations between leaf nitrogen con-tent and foliar δ^(13)C andδ15N found in previous studies,we expected that they should show consistent patterns along an altitudinal gradient.Methods To test our hypothesis,we measured foliar δ^(13)C andδ15N in conjunc-tion with multiple key leaf functional traits of Quercus aquifolioides,a dominant species of alpine forest on the eastern slopes of the sygera mountains,southeastern Tibetan Plateau from 2500 to 3800 m.Important findings(i)Contrary to our hypothesis,foliar δ^(13)C exhibited a significant pos-itive linear relationship with altitude;in contrast,foliarδ15N initially increased and subsequently decreased with altitude,the change in trend occurring around 3300 m.(ii)our analyses indicated that leaf internal resistance and stomatal conductance,rather than photosynthetic capacity indicated by leaf N concentration,appar-ently explained the altitudinal variation in foliar δ^(13)C,while differ-ences in foliar δ^(15)N were likely the result of soil N availability.(iii)Principal component analysis revealed a clear association between δ^(13)C and a tradeoff between water loss and carbon gain,indicated by traits related to gas exchange such as leaf thickness,density,sto-matal properties.In contrast,the second axis was associated withδ15N and nitrogen acquisition strategy in Q.aquifolioides across its altitudinal distribution,represented by traits related to nitrogen concentration and stomata per gram of leaf nitrogen.Litong Chen Dan F.B.Flynn Xiaowei Zhang Xianliang Gao Ling Lin Jian Luo Changming Zhao 2015Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,3:4
12Photosynthetic acclimation to long-term high temperature and soil drought stress in two spruce species (Picea crassifolia and P. wilsonii) used for afforestation显示文摘Picea crassifolia and P.wilsonii,commonly used for afforestation in northern China,are increasingly likely to be subjected to high temperatures and soil drought stress as a result of global warming.However,little is known about the effects of these stresses on foliar photosynthesis in the two species.To investigate how photosynthetic characteristics and sensitivity respond to prolonged high temperatures and soil drought,foliar gas exchange and other closely related parameters were recorded from four-year-old seedlings of both species.Seedlings were grown under two temperature treatments(25/15 and 35/25 °C) and four soil water regimes [80,60,40 and 20% of maximum field capacity(FC)] for 4 months.Although all treatments significantly reduced photosynthetic rates(P_n) of both species,P.crassifolia exhibited greater photosynthetic acclimation than P.wilsonii.Differences in photosynthetic acclimation were mainly related to variations in stomatal conductance(Cond) and the maximum quantum yield of PSII(F_v/F_m) between treatments.Indeed,higher Cond and F_v/F_m in all treatments were shown for P.crassifolia than for P.wilsonii.Moreover,photosynthesis in P.crassifolia exhibited inherently lower temperature sensitivities(broader span for the temperature response curves; lower b) and higher thermostability(invariable b between treatments).Further,severe drought stress(20% FC) limited the survival of P.wilsonii.Our results indicate that P.wilsonii is more susceptible to high temperatures and soil drought stress.Planting P.crassifolia would be more expected to survive these conditions and hence be of greater benefit to forest stability if predicted increases in drought and temperature in northern China occur.Xiaowei Zhang Litong Chen Jingru Wang Minghao Wang Shuli Yang Changming Zhao 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,2:4
13EEG Source Localization Using Spatio-Temporal Neural Network显示文摘Source localization of focal electrical activity from scalp electroencephalogram (sEEG) signal is generally modeled as an inverse problem that is highly ill-posed. In this paper, a novel source localization method is proposed to model the EEG inverse problem using spatio-temporal long-short term memory recurrent neural networks (LSTM). The network model consists of two parts, sEEG encoding and source decoding, to model the sEEG signal and receive the regression of source location. As there does not exist enough annotated sEEG signals correspond to specific source locations, simulated data is generated with forward model using finite element method (FEM) to act as a part of training signals. A framework for source localization is proposed to estimate the source position based on simulated training data. Experiments are done on simulated testing data. The results on simulated data exhibit good robustness on noise signal, and the proposed network solves the EEG inverse problem with spatio-temporal deep network. 14Three-dimensional properties of mesoscale cyclonic warm-core and anticyclonic cold-core eddies in the South China Sea显示文摘In general,a mesoscale cyclonic(anticyclonic)eddy has a colder(warmer)core,and it is considered as a cold(warm)eddy.However,recently research found that there are a number of'abnormal'mesoscale cyclonic(anticyclonic)eddies associated with warm(cold)cores in the South China Sea(SCS).These'abnormal'eddies pose a challenge to previous works on eddy detection,characteristic analysis,eddy-induced heat and salt transports,and even on mesoscale eddy dynamics.Based on a 9-year(2000–2008)numerical modelling data,the cyclonic warm-core eddies(CWEs)and anticyclonic cold-core eddies(ACEs)in the SCS are analyzed.This study found that the highest incidence area of the'abnormal'eddies is the northwest of Luzon Strait.In terms of the eddy snapshot counting method,8620 CWEs and 9879 ACEs are detected,accounting for 14.6%and 15.8%of the total eddy number,respectively.The size of the'abnormal'eddies is usually smaller than that of the'normal'eddies,with the radius only around 50 km.In the generation time aspect,they usually appear within the 0.1–0.3 interval in the normalized eddy lifespan.The survival time of CWEs(ACEs)occupies 16.3%(17.1%)of the total eddy lifespan.Based on two case studies,the intrusion of Kuroshio warm water is considered as a key mechanism for the generation of these'abnormal'eddies near the northeastern SCS.Wenjin Sun Yu Liu Gengxin Chen Wei Tan Xiayan Lin Yuping Guan Changming Dong 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10:3
15Analysis of Vitamin P Content and Inheritance Models in Eggplant显示文摘The eggplant(Solanum melongena L.)is rich in vitamin P(also known as rutin),which is beneficial for humans.In this study,the vitamin P contents of 53 eggplant lines were measured via UV spectrophotometry.The results showed that the vitamin P content differed significantly among the eggplant lines and the actual contents of vitamin P in fresh fruit pulp and fresh peel were 0.18–0.82mg·g^−1 and 0.42–2.32mg·g^−1,respectively.Furthermore,themixed major gene and polygene inheritance modelmethod was used for the inheritance analysis of the vitamin P content in F2 populations of three hybridization combinations.Inheritance analysis demonstrated that the vitamin P content of these eggplant lines was a quantitative trait.One or two major genes were the contributor,and the genetic effect was an additive-dominance effect.The high vitamin P content trait was regulated by the main gene and followed an additive effect.The heritability of the major genes controlling the high vitamin P content was low,while the heritability of the major gene that controls the low vitamin P content trait was high.These results provide a theoretical basis for the breeding of eggplants with high vitamin P content.Riyue Dong Bingwei Yu Shuangshuang Yan Zhengkun Qiu Jianjun Lei Changming Chen Ye Li Bihao Cao 2020Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,4:3
16Effects of three coniferous plantation species on plant-soil feedbacks and soil physical and chemical properties in semiarid mountain ecosystems显示文摘Background:Large-scale afforestation can significantly change the ground cover and soil physicochemical properties,especially the soil fertility maintenance and water conservation functions of artificial forests,which are very important in semi-arid mountain ecosystems.However,how different tree species affect soil nutrients and soil physicochemical properties after afforestation,and which is the best plantation species for improving soil fertility and water conservation functions remain largely unknown.Methods:This study investigated the soil nutrient contents of three different plantations(Larix principis-rupprechtii,Picea crassifolia,Pinus tabuliformis),soils and plant-soil feedbacks,as well as the interactions between soil physicochemical properties.Results:The results revealed that the leaves and litter layers strongly influenced soil nutrient availability through biogeochemical processes:P.tabuliformis had higher organic carbon,ratio of organic carbon to total nitrogen(C:N)and organic carbon to total phosphorus(C:P)in the leaves and litter layers than L.principis-rupprechtii or P.crassifolia,suggesting that higher C:N and C:P hindered litter decomposition.As a result,the L.principis-rupprechtii and P.crassifolia plantation forests significantly improved soil nutrients and clay components,compared with the P.tabuliformis plantation forest.Furthermore,the L.principis-rupprechtii and P.crassifolia plantation forests significantly improved the soil capacity,soil total porosity,and capillary porosity,decreased soil bulk density,and enhanced water storage capacity,compared with the P.tabuliformis plantation forest.The results of this study showed that,the strong link between plants and soil was tightly coupled to C:N and C:P,and there was a close correlation between soil particle size distribution and soil physicochemical properties.Conclusions:Therefore,our results recommend planting the L.principis-rupprechtii and P.crassifolia as the preferred tree species to enhance the soil fertility and water conservation functions,especially in semi-arid regions mountain forest ecosystems.Chun Han Yongjing Liu Cankun Zhang Yage Li Tairan Zhou Salman Khan Ning Chen Changming Zhao 2021Forest Ecosystems2021,8,1:3
17Novel application of red mud as disposal catalyst for pyrolysis and gasification of coal显示文摘Red mud(RM)with the high alkalinity as a catalyst was evaluated for coal pyrolysis in a fixed bed as well as CO_(2) gasification of its resultant char in a thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA).The addition of RM into coal could improve the quality of tar during pyrolysis and enhance the reactivity of char during gasification.For catalytic pyrolysis with 12 wt%RM at 600℃,the light fraction in tar was 72.0 wt%,which increased by 20.0%,compared with coal pyrolysis alone.The role of metal oxides in RM on coal pyrolysis was further clarified as well.After catalytic pyrolysis with RM,the specific surface area of resultant char increased,especially for mesoporous surface area,and meanwhile the sodium in RM was proved to migrate to the char surface.These positive factors contributed to the CO_(2) gasification activity of char.RM with the high alkalinity showed a promising catalyst candidate for coal pyrolysis and gasification in terms of its catalytic effects and low cost.Zhaohui Chen Deliang Wang Hang Yang Yusheng Zhang Yunjia Li Changming Li Jian Yu Shiqiu Gao 2021Carbon Resources Conversion2021,4,1:2
18Textbook Outcome as a measure of surgical quality assessment and prognosis in gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma:A large multicenter sample analysis显示文摘Objective:Quality assurance is crucial for oncological surgical treatment assessment.For rare diseases,singlequality indicators are not enough.We aim to develop a comprehensive and reproducible measurement,called the'Textbook Outcome'(TO),to assess the quality of surgical treatment and prognosis of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma(G-NEC)patients.Methods:Data from patients with primary diagnosed G-NEC included in 24 high-volume Chinese hospitals from October 2005 to September 2018 were analyzed.TO included receiving a curative resection,≥15 lymph nodes examined,no severe postoperative complications,hospital stay≤21 d,and no hospital readmission≤30 d after discharge.Hospital variation in TO was analyzed using a case mix-adjusted funnel plot.Prognostic factors of survival and risk factors for non-Textbook Outcome(non-TO)were analyzed using Cox and logistic models,respectively.Results:TO was achieved in 56.6%of 860 G-NEC patients.TO patients had better overall survival(OS),disease-free survival(DFS),and recurrence-free survival(RFS)than non-TO patients(P<0.05).Moreover,TO patients accounted for 60.3%of patients without recurrence.Multivariate Cox analysis revealed non-TO as an independent risk factor for OS,DFS,and RFS of G-NEC patients(P<0.05).Increasing TO rates were associated with improved OS for G-NEC patients,but not hospital volume.Multivariate logistic regression revealed that nonlower tumors,open surgery,and>200 mL blood loss were independent risk factors for non-TO patients(P<0.05).Conclusions:TO is strongly associated with multicenter surgical quality and prognosis for G-NEC patients.Factors predicting non-TO are identified,which may help guide strategies to optimize G-NEC outcomes.Qiyue Chen Zhongliang Ning Zhiyu Liu Yanbing Zhou Qingliang He Yantao Tian Hankun Hao Wei Lin Lixin Jiang Gang Zhao Ping Li Chaohui Zheng Changming Huang on behalf of the Study Group for Gastric Neuroendocrine Tumors 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4:2
