| 5 | ID7 Isolated from Bauhinia variegata Stem Inhibits Tumor Progression and Metastatic Mechanisms of Triple Negative Breast Cancer in Vivo显示文摘Background:The breast cancer has been the most common form of cancer among women. The triple negative subtype represents 20%of all breast cancer cases in the world and is standing out by affecting young women and being aggressive. The main cause of death of patients with cancer is due to metastasis, which can reach the liver and lungs. Objective:The activities of ID7 fraction of the stems of Bauhinia variegata L.on breast cancer, lung metastasis and liver inflammatory process were evaluated.Method:ID7 was characterized by mass-spectrometry.The viability of murine mammary cells(4T1)treated with ID7 was assessed by MTT,trypan blue and fluorescence assay and viability of BT-20,MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer tumor lines by MTS.The cell migration, invasion using matrigel and adhesion were performed. The expression of cell death proteins was quanitified by western blot and the gelatinases by zimogram. The ID7 activity of the tumor(4T1)and metastatic progession in vivo was evaluated.Results:ID7 reduced the 4T1 and MDA-MB-231viability and increased the late apoptosis, inhibited the 4T1 migration and invasion, increased the 4T1 adhesion and decreased the secreted active gelatinases.ID7 also increased the expression of PARP,caspase-7 and caspase-8,RIP and TNF-R1.In vivo, the ID7 decreased the volume and weight of the tumors and decreased lung metastasis and inflammation in the liver. The characterization showed mainly the presence of oleic acid, myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol in ID7.Conclusion:Thus,it was found that ID7 fraction exhibits selective antitumor and on the mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis activity, preventing lung metastasis and inflammation in the liver. It is suggested that fatty acids and flavonoids are correlated with such activities. | Kamilla Monteiro dos Santos Izabela Natalia Faria Gomes Renato JoséSilva Oliveira Fernanda E.Pinto Bruno Oliveira Fabrício P.Batista Rafael Cesar Russo Chagas Hélio B.Santos Ralph G.Thomé Wanderson Romao Rui Manuel Reis Maria Luiza Vilela Oliva Rosy Iara Maciel de Azambuja Ribeiro | 2019 | Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2019,7,7: | 1 |
| 6 | Conocarpus erectus L., a plant with a high content of structural sugars, ions and phenolic compounds, shows antioxidant and antimicrobial properties promoted by different organic fractions显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the structural and chemical composition of plant and the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities promoted by hexanic, ethanolic and ethyl acetate fractions obtained from leaves of Conocarpus erectus. Methods: Organic fractions were characterized through UPLC-MS and GC-MS.Antioxidant potential was performed through DPPH and molybdenum phosphate techniques.Antibacterial and antifungal assays were performed in accordance with Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute protocols. Results: The obtained biomass of Conocarpus erectus leaves showed the high presence of glucose(0.45 g/L), cellulose(28.69%), Na(55.126 μg/L) and K(31.163 μg/L).We identified seven compounds in the hexanic and ethyl acetate fractions, and eight compounds in ethanolic fraction. Moreover, phenolic compounds are prevalent in all organic fractions with values of(10.04 ± 0.24),(221.26 ± 1.84),(340.53 ± 0.84) mg/g GAE to hexanic, ethyl acetate and ethanolic fraction, respectively.Antioxidant results showed a high potential in ethyl acetate fraction(71.82 ± 6.87)% and(10.89 ± 0.05)% in DPPH and molybdenum phosphate techniques, respectively. The ethanolic fraction showed moderate bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus and presented a high fungistatic potential for all Candida species tested. Conclusions: Organic fractions obtained from leaves of Conocarpus erectus present antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, and these findings contribute to scientific information for the effectiveness on use of this plant in the development of a phytotherapic compound. | Dayane Kelly Dias do Nascimento Santos Weslley Henrique de Oliveira Melo Anastassia Mariáh Nunes de Oliveira Lima Iranildo Joseda Cruz Filho Glaucia Manoella de Souza Lima Tulio Diego da Silva Maiara Celine de Moura Marcia Silva do Nascimento Ana Maria Souto Maior Thiago Henrique Napoleao Cristiane Moutinho Lagos de Melo | 2018 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2018,8,9: | 0 |
| 7 | Evaluation of the Antibacterial and Antifungal Capacity of Nanoemulsions Loaded with Synthetic Chalcone Derivatives Di-Benzyl Cinnamaldehyde and Benzyl 4-Aminochalcone显示文摘With the increase in antimicrobial resistance,it has become necessary to explore alternative approaches for combating and preventing diseases.DB-cinnamaldehyde(CNM)and Benzyl4-amino(B4AM)are bioactive compounds derived from chalcones but with restricted solubility in aqueous media.Nanoemulsions can enhance the solubility of compounds and can be a promising alternative in the development of novel antimicrobials, with reduced side effects and prolonged release. The objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of oil-in-water nanoemulsions loaded with two distinct types of chalcones at two different dosages,to propose a stable formulation with antimicrobial properties. Results showed that nanoemulsions presented high encapsulation efficiency, low polydispersity index(PDI)and particle size below 200 nm,indicating that emulsification was a suitable method for nanoemulsion preparation.Nanoemulsions with higher dosages exhibited significant antimicrobial effects when compared to free chalcones and positive controls.Notably,B4AM nanoemulsions at higher dosages showed expressive activity against Salmonella minnesota, with a 420%greater inhibitory response compared to the free form and showing equivalence to the positive control.CNM nanoemulsions showed excellent inhibitory activity at the highest dosage, equivalent to the positive control against S.minnesota and Staphylococcus aureus. The greater number of conjugated bonds in CNM increased the antimicrobial activity in comparison with B4AM,and the formation of nanometric domains enhanced the bioavailability, being a promising alternative for antimicrobial applications. | Flavia Oliveira Monteiro da Silva Abreu Taysse Holanda Joice Farias do Nascimento Henety Nascimento Pinheiro Rachel Menezes Castelo Hélcio Silva dos Santos Thais Benincá Patrícia da Silva Malheiros Júlio César Sousa Prado Raquel de Oliveira Fontenelle Maria Madalena de Camargo Forte | 2024 | Journal of Renewable Materials2024,12,2: | 0 |
| 8 | ENSO impacts on litter stocks and water holding capacity in secondary forests in eastern Amazonia显示文摘Among the impacts of climate change, there is the intensification of phenomena such as the El Niño South-ern Oscillation(ENSO)responsible for El Niño and La Niña.However, understanding their effects on the functional pro-cesses of forests is limited. Therefore, this study evaluated the effects of ENSO on litter stock and water holding capac-ity(WHC)in a successional forest in eastern Amazonia.Evaluations occurred in periods with the most rainfall in El Niño(2019)and least in La Niña(2021)years.Twelve permanent plots were used to sample litter.ENSO effects were evident for WHC,higher during El Niño.However, this influence was not clear for litter,as only in the rainy season effects were found. There was a positive correlation of WHC with precipitation and humidity, while litter stocks were negatively correlated with temperature and wind speed.Although the subject of this study requires long-term assessments, preliminary results suggests that, depending on the intensity of ENSO,forest functional processes can be strongly impacted and altered. The conclusion reinforces warnings by the scientific community about the impacts of climate change on the maintenance of litter stocks, decomposition and, consequently, the biogeochemical cycle and essential ecosystem services for the maintenance of Amazonia biodiversity. The need to develop long-term research to understand the effects of climatic change on litter stocks and water holding capacity is highlighted, especially in Amazonia. | Julia Isabella de Matos Rodrigues Walmer Bruno Rocha Martins Victor Pereira de Oliveira Myriam Suelen da Silva Wanzerley Hélio Brito dos Santos Júnior Francisco de Assis Oliveira | 2024 | Journal of Forestry Research2024,35,1: | 0 |
