| 14 | Sweet syndrome as a paraneoplastic manifestation of cholangiocarcinoma:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Sweet’s syndrome, also known as acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis,is a rare skin disorder that may be associated with cancer.CASE SUMMARY A 58-year-old female presented with a cholestatic syndrome and significant weight loss three months before admission.Five months earlier, she had abruptly developed skin lesions with erythematous papules that evolved to erythematous blisters.Clinical evaluation and laboratory tests confirmed hepatic cholangiocarcinoma.Skin lesions histopathological findings showed neutrophilic dermatosis, massive edema, fibrin, necrosis, and elastosis. These results,in association with the macroscopic aspects of the findings, led to the diagnosis of paraneoplastic Sweet’s syndrome due to cholangiocarcinoma. As staging was consistent with an advanced tumor without a cure perspective,we opted to perform percutaneous biliary drainage, and subsequently, palliative care.Eventually, after a few weeks, the patient died.CONCLUSION In conclusion, the diagnosis of the underlying disease-causing Sweet’s syndrome must be accurate, and patients need to be followed-up,as neoplasia such as cholangiocarcinoma may be a later manifestation. | Camille Carneiro Lemaire Ana Luisa Carvalho Portilho Luciana V Pinheiro Rafael Alves Vivas Maíra Britto Melaine Montenegro Luiz Felipe de Farias Rodrigues Sérgio Arruda AndréCastro Lyra Lourianne Nascimento Cavalcante | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,18: | 0 |
| 15 | Rare earth metal as a dopant element:Cerium ion as an articulator in hexavalent chromium removal by magnetic iron oxides显示文摘This study highlights introducing the rare earth metal cerium(Ce(Ⅳ))into the structure of magnetite(Fe_(3)O_(4))to achieve enhanced adsorptive properties for the removal of chromium(Cr(VI))from an aqueous medium.Different ratios of Ce(Ⅳ)were introduced into the iron oxide matrix, termed FeCe-5,FeCe-10,and FeCe-20.Their numerical values correspond to the nominal content of the dopant element added to the synthesis medium. The solid materials were characterized for morphology and chemical structure, and N_(2)physical adsorption/desorption measurements were performed. The solid materials doped with Ce(IV)have a high surface area compared to Fe_(3)O_(4),and the solid material with the highest content of the dopant ion(Ce(IV))has a 4-fold greater surface area. This increase in the dopant content in the iron oxide structure leads to a total chromium removal of 93.3%.Isotherms studies on the solid materials show that chromium adsorption follows the Langmuir model. The adsorption capacity to Fe_(3)O_(4)is 12.59 mg/g and FeCe-10 is 22.49 mg/g at 35℃.By fitting the kinetic and isothermal models,it is found that for the Fe_(3)O_(4)and FeCe-10 materials Cr(VI)removal occurs in very different ways, attributed to the different surface areas and compositions of the oxide, with the formation of the goethite(α-FeOOH)phase.The FeCe-10reuse process was performed and the removal capacity the Cr(VI)is reduced after the first cycle. This result is attributed to a strong and irreversible adsorption of Cr(VI)on the FeCe-10. | Pricila Maria Batista Chagas Maísa M.M.Lima Aline Aparecida Caetano Lucas Bragança Carvalho Nayra Maria de Abreu Piva Maria Eduarda Resende Luiz Iara do Rosário Guimarães | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,10: | 0 |
| 16 | Evaluatingα-galactosylceramide as an adjuvant for live attenuated infuenza vaccines in pigs显示文摘Natural killer T(NKT)cells activated with the glycolipid ligandα-galactosylceramide(α-GalCer)stimulate a wide variety of immune cells that enhance vaccine-mediated immune responses.Several studies have used this approach to adjuvant inactivated and subunit infuenza A virus(IAV)vaccines, including to enhance cross-protective infuenza immunity. However, less is known about whetherα-GalCer can enhance live attenuated infuenza virus(LAIV)vaccines, which usually induce superior heterologous and heterosubtypic immunity compared to non-replicating infuenza vaccines. The current study used the swine infuenza challenge model to assess whetherα-GalCer can enhance cross-protective immune responses elicited by a recombinant H3N2 LAIV vaccine(TX98ΔNS1)encoding a truncated NS1 protein. In one study, weaning pigs were administered the H3N2 TX98ΔNS1 LAIV vaccine with 0,10,50,and 100μg/kg doses ofα-GalCer,and subsequently challenged with a heterologous H3N2 virus. All treatment groups were protected from infection. However, the addition ofα-GalCer appeared to suppress nasal shedding of the LAIV vaccine. In another experiment, pigs vaccinated with the H3N2 LAIV,with or without 50μg/kg ofα-GalCer,were challenged with the heterosubtypic pandemic H1N1 virus.Pigs vaccinated with the LAIV alone generated cross-reactive humoral and cellular responses which blocked virus replication in the airways, and signifcantly decreased virus shedding. On the other hand, combining the vaccine withα-GalCer reduced cross-protective cellular and antibody responses, and resulted in higher virus titers in respiratory tissues. These fndings suggest that:(i)high doses ofα-GalCer impair the replication and nasal shedding of the LAIV vaccine;and(ii)α-GalCer might interfere with heterosubtypic cross-protective immune responses. This research raise concerns that should be considered before trying to use NKT cell agonists as a possible adjuvant approach for LAIV vaccines. | Bianca L.Artiaga Igor Morozov Russell Ransburgh Taeyong Kwon Velmurugan Balaraman Sabarish V.Indran Darling Melany De Carvalho Madrid Weihong Gu Jamie Henningson Wenjun Ma Jürgen A.Richt John P.Driver | 2022 | Animal Diseases2022,2,4: | 0 |
