1Soil exchangeable base cations along a chronosequence of Caragana microphylla plantation in a semi-arid sandy land,China显示文摘As a pioneer leguminous shrub species for vegetation re-establishment,Caragana microphylla is widely distributed in the semi-fixed and fixed sandy lands of the Horqin region,North China.C.microphylla plantations modify organic carbon(SOC),nitrogen(N) and phosphorus dynamics,bulk density and water-holding capacity,and biological activities in soils,but little is known with regard to soil exchange properties.Variation in soil exchangeable base cations was examined under C.microphylla plantations with an age sequence of 0,5,10,and 22 years in the Horqin Sandy Land,and at the depth of 0-10,10-20,and 20-30 cm,respectively.C.microphylla has been planted on the non-vegetated sand dunes with similar physical-chemical soil properties.The results showed that exchangeable calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),and potassium(K),and cation exchange capacity(CEC) were significantly increased,and Ca saturation tended to decrease,while Mg and K saturations were increased with the plantation years.No difference was observed for exchangeable sodium(Na) neither with plantation years nor at soil depths.Of all the base cations and soil layers,exchangeable K at the depth of 0-10 cm accumulated most quickly,and it increased by 1.76,3.16,and 4.25 times,respectively after C.microphylla was planted for 5,10,and 22 years.Exchangeable Ca,Mg,and K,and CEC were significantly(P<0.001) and positively correlated with SOC,total N,pH,and electrical conductivity(EC).Soil pH and SOC are regarded as the main factors influencing the variation in exchangeable cations,and the preferential absorption of cations by plants and different leaching rates of base cations that modify cation saturations under C.microphylla plantation.It is concluded that as a nitrogen-fixation species,C.microphylla plantation is beneficial to increasing exchangeable base cations and CEC in soils,and therefore can improve soil fertility and create favorable microenvironments for plants and creatures in the semi-arid sandy land ecosystems.YuGe ZHANG ZhuWen XU DeMing JIANG Yong JIANG 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:11
2Sheep manure application increases soil exchangeable base cations in a semi-arid steppe of Inner Mongolia显示文摘The long-term productivity of a soil is greatly influenced by cation exchange capacity(CEC).Moreover,interactions between dominant base cations and other nutrients are important for the health and stability of grassland ecosystems.Soil exchangeable base cations and cation ratios were examined in a 11-year experiment with sheep manure application rates 0–1,500 g/(m2?a) in a semi-arid steppe in Inner Mongolia of China,aiming to clarify the relationships of base cations with soil p H,buffer capacity and fertility.Results showed that CEC and contents of exchangeable calcium(Ca2+),magnesium(Mg2+),potassium(K+) and sodium(Na+) were significantly increased,and Ca2+ saturation tended to decrease,while K+ saturation tended to increase with the increases of sheep manure application rates.The Ca2+/Mg2+ and Ca2+/K+ ratios decreased,while Mg2+,K+ and Na+ saturations increased with increasing manure application rates.Both base cations and CEC were significantly and positively correlated with soil organic carbon(SOC) and soil p H.The increases of SOC and soil p H would be the dominant factors that contribute to the increase of cations in soil.On a comparison with the initial soil p H before the experiment,we deduced that sheep manure application could partly buffer soil p H decrease potentially induced by atmospheric deposition of nitrogen and sulfur.Our results indicate that sheep manure application is beneficial to the maintenance of base cations and the buffering of soil acidification,and therefore can improve soil fertility in the semi-arid steppes of northeastern China.YuGe ZHANG Shan YANG MingMing FU JiangPing CAI YongYong ZHANG RuZhen WANG ZhuWen XU YongFei BAI Yong JIANG 2015Journal of Arid Land2015,7,3:7
3Effects of Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii extracts on gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor alpha 1 subunit brain expression during development in a recurrent seizure rat model显示文摘Extracts from Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Grassleaf Sweetflag Rhizome,Shichangpu) have been shown to improve learning and memory,reduce anxiety,allay excitement,and suppress seizures.Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii extracts interact with γ-aminobutyric acid and activate the γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor,although few studies have addressed the precise effects of γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor α1 subunit.In the present study,γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor α1 subunit protein expression in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus,and pathological scores of brain injury,were significantly greater following recurrent seizures,but significantly decreased following treatment with Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii extracts.These results indicated that Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii extracts down-regulated γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor α1 subunit protein expression in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus and protected seizure-induced brain injury during development.Liqun Liu Ding'an Mao Keqiang Chi Xingfang Li Tao Bo Jinming Guo Zhuwen Yi 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,6:4
4Nitrogen addition and mowing alter drought resistance and recovery of grassland communities显示文摘Nitrogen enrichment and land use are known to influence various ecosystems,but how these anthropogenic changes influence community and ecosystem responses to disturbance remains poorly understood.Here we investigated the effects of increased nitrogen input and mowing on the resistance and recovery of temperate semiarid grassland experiencing a three-year drought.Nitrogen addition increased grassland biomass recovery but decreased structural recovery after drought,whereas annual mowing increased grassland biomass recovery and structural recovery but reduced structural resistance to drought.The treatment effects on community biomass/structural resistance and recovery were largely modulated by the stability of the dominant species and asynchronous dynamics among species,and the community biomass resistance and recovery were also greatly driven by the stability of grasses.Community biomass resistance/recovery in response to drought was positively associated with its corresponding structural stability.Our study provides important experimental evidence that both nitrogen addition and mowing could substantially change grassland stability in both functional and structural aspects.Our findings emphasize the need to study changes across levels of ecological organization for a more complete understanding of ecosystem responses to disturbances under widespread environmental changes.Zhuwen Xu Heyong Liu Yani Meng Jinfei Yin Haiyan Ren Mai-He Li Shan Yang Shiming Tang Yong Jiang Lin Jiang 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,7:2
5Distinguishing Oil and Water Layers in a Porous Cracked Medium by Interpreting Acoustic Logging Data on the Basis of Hudson Theory显示文摘During surveys, water layers may interfere with the detection of oil layers. In order to distinguish between oil and water layers in a porous cracked medium, research on the properties of cracks and oil and water layers and their relation to acoustic logging rules is essential. On the basis of Hudson's crack theory, we simulated oil and water layers in crack-porous medium with different crack parameters corresponding to the well-field response. We found that in a cracked medium with high crack angle or low number density of cracks, compressional and shear wave velocities are sensitive to crack characteristics; further, these velocities are more sensitive to crack characteristics when the waves propagate through the water layer than when they propagate through the oil layer. Compressional and shear wave velocities increase with an increase in crack angle: in the water layer, the increase is approximately linear. On comparing the full waveforms observed in the oil and water layers, we find that the amplitudes of most waves are higher in the water layer. Among the considered waves, the Stoneley wave suffers maximum amplitude attenuation in the oil layer. The maximum excitation intensity for oil layer is greater than that for the water layer. 6Monte Carlo simulation of scintillation crystal detector for formation element logging显示文摘Formation elements logging is a neutron gamma spectroscopy logging technique used to acquire the content of elements and minerals by recording the gamma ray produced by the reaction of neutron and elemental nucleus in the formation. It has a wide usage in discriminating complex lithology and evaluating unconventional reservoir. The Monte Carlo simulation model of formation elements logging tool is established in this paper, with which the effects of tool parameters including the material and length of the scintillation crystal and source spacing on logging responses are modeled. The results show that the energy response of LaBr_3: Ce crystal is better than others, and the detection efficiency increases with the crystal length but decrease with source spacing. 9Negative cooperative effect of cytotoxicity of a di-component initiating system for a novel injectable tissue engineering hydrogel显示文摘Chemically cross-linked hydrogels constitute a novel injectable tissue engineering material. At present, one of the key problems is to find an appropriate initiator. This study evaluated the cytotoxicity in vitro of a water-soluble redox initiating system consisting of ammonium persulfate (APS) and N, N, N′, N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (TEM- ED). Gelation time of PEG diacrylate macromer in phos- phate buffer saline solution was first adjusted to guarantee that the examined initiator concentrations are sufficiently high to trigger polymerization of macromers. NIH/3T3 fi- broblasts were employed to examine cytotoxicity via MTT measurements and optical microscopic observations. 11Responses and sensitivity of N, P and mobile carbohydrates of dominant species to increased water, N and P availability in semi- arid grasslands in northern China显示文摘Aims We aimed to improve the understanding of the carbon and nutri-ent physiological responses and adaptation of semi-arid grassland plants to environmental changes.Methods We investigated plant leaf non-structural carbohydrate(NSC=solu-ble sugars+starch),nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)levels in an Inner Mongolian semi-arid grassland community treated with water,N and P additions for 8 years.Two dominant grasses(Agropyron cris-tatum(L.)Gaertn.,Stipa krylovii Roshev.)and two forbs(Artemisia frigida Willd.,Potentilla bifurca L.)were analyzed.Important Findings Water addition decreased plant leaf N and P concentrations,whereas N and P addition increased them,indicating that the semi-arid grassland studied suffers from a shortage of N and P sup-ply.Both N and P addition decreased the levels of soluble sugars,starch and thus also NSC in plant leaves,which may be attributed to(i)increased carbohydrate consumption associated with a higher growth rate,and(ii)a dilution effect of greater plant size under N and P addition.Water addition tended to increase the leaf NSC levels both in the grasses(+9.2%)and forbs(+0.6%only),which may be a result of increased photosynthesis of plants with increased water availability.Under conditions of ambient and increased water supply in the present study,N addition resulted in an N/P ratio of>16 in the grasses but a significantly lower N/P ratio of<11 in the forb species.This finding implies that growth of the two grass spe-cies will be limited mainly by P availability but the forbs will still be mainly limited by N supply if N deposition,alone or in combination with summer precipitation,continues to increase as predicted in Inner Mongolia.Xue Wang Zhuwen Xu Caifeng Yan Wentao Luo Ruzhen Wang Xingguo Han Yong Jiang Mai-He Li 2017Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,3:1

14Gamma-aminobutyric acid A receptor gamma 2 subunit following Mg-free-induced seizures in cultured developing neurons显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that in vitro cultured cortical neurons from embryonic rats can produce spontaneous recurrent epileptiform discharges following transient Mg2+-free extracellular solution culture. OBJECTIVE: To explore gamma-aminobutyric acid A receptor (GABAAR) γ2 subunit expression follow-ing Mg2+-free-induced seizures in cultured developing neurons. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: Cellular and molecular biology. The in vitro experiment was performed at the Department of Pediatrics,Second Xiangya Hospital of Central Southern University between January 2007 and February 2008. MATERIALS: Cortical neurons of Wistar rats on gestational days 16-17 were used. Normal extracellular solution (pH 7.3) consisted of NaCl 145 mmol/L,KCl 2.5 mmol/L,HEPES 10 mmol/L,MgCl2 1 mmol/L,CaCl2 2 mmol/L,glucose 10 mmol/L,and glycine 0.01 mmol/L. In addition,there was no MgCl2 in the Mg2+-free extracellular solution. METHODS: Cortical neurons cultured for 6 days were exposed to normal extracellular solution (control group) and Mg2+-free media (Mg2+-free group) respectively for 3 hours,followed by continuous culture in DMEM solution. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: On days 1,7 and 12 after Mg2+-free treatment,real-time RT-PCR,im-munochemistry,and flow cytometry were used to detect GABAAR γ2 subunit expression. RESULTS: Compared with the control group,GABAAR γ2-positive cells decreased significantly on days 1 and 7 after Mg2+-free treatment (P<0.01),but significantly increased on day 12 (P<0.01). GABAAR γ2 subunit mRNA expression decreased significantly at 7 days Mg2+-free treatment when measured by real-time RT-PCR compared with the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: GABAAR γ2 subunit expression is modified following Mg-free-induced seizures in cul-tured developing neurons. 17Full-wave synthetic acoustic logs in porous media显示文摘In order to investigate the permeability of porous media,it is necessary to figure out the property of wave propagation in this medium. The authors calculated the full waveforms and the 2-dimensional spectrum of fluid saturated porous media,analyzed the wave propagation characteristics of different permeable stratums. From the theoretical acoustic pressure waveform received at the well-axis and the 2-D spectrum it is revealed that longitudinal-,transverse-,Stoneley-,pseudo-Rayleigh-,longitudinal mode-and transverse mode waves are different in characters in various permeable strata. 18An algorithm for multi-exponential inversion of T_2 spectrum in nuclear magnetic resonance显示文摘NMR logging can provide the permeability parameter and abundant stratigraphical information such as total porosity,oil,gas and water saturation,oil viscosity,etc. And these physical parameters can be obtained by T2 spectrum inversion. NMR inversion is an important part in logging interpretation. The authors describe a multi-exponential inversion algorithm,solid iteration redress technique( SIRT),and apply the algorithm in real data and compare the results with those based on singular value decomposition( SVD). It shows that SIRT algorithm is easier to be understood and implemented,and the time spent in SIRT is much shorter than that of SVD algorithm. And the non-negative property of T2 spectrum is much easier to be implemented. It can match the results based on SVD very well.
