1Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). 2Total mesorectal excision with or without preoperative chemoradiotherapy for resectable mid/low rectal cancer: a long-term analysis of a prospective, single-center, randomized trial显示文摘Background:The preliminary results of our phase II randomized trial reported comparable functional sphincter pres-ervation rates and short-term survival outcomes between patients undergoing total mesorectal excision(TME)with or without preoperative concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).We now report the long-term results after a median follow-up of 71 months.Methods:Between March 23,2008 and August 2,2012,192 patients with T3-T4 or node-positive,resectable,mid/low rectal adenocarcinoma were randomly assigned to receive TME with or without preoperative CCRT.The following endpoints were assessed:cumulative rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis,disease-free survival(DFS),and overall survival(OS).Results:The data of 184 eligible patients were analyzed:94 patients in the TME group and 90 patients in the CCRT+TME group.In the whole cohort,the 5-year DFS and OS rates were 84.8%and 85.1%,respectively.The 5-year DFS rates were 85.2%in the CCRT+TME group and 84.3%in the TME group(P=0.969),and the 5-year OS rates were 83.5%in the CCRT+TME group and 86.5%in the TME group(P=0.719).The 5-year cumulative rates of local recur-rence were 6.3%and 5.0%(P=0.681),and the 5-year cumulative rates of distant metastasis were 15.0%and 15.7%(P=0.881)in the CCRT+TME and TME groups,respectively.No significant improvements in 5-year DFS and OS were observed with CCRT by subgroup analyses.Conclusions:Both treatment strategies yielded similar long-term outcomes.A selective policy towards preoperative CCRT is thus recommended for rectal cancer patients if high-quality TME surgery and enhanced chemotherapy can be performed.Fulong Wang Wenhua Fan Jianhong Peng Zhenhai Lu Zhizhong Pan Liren Li Yuanhong Gao Hui Li Gong Chen Xiaojun Wu Peirong Ding Zhifan Zeng Desen Wan 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:6
3Exploring on the optimal preparation conditions of activated carbon produced from solid waste produced from sugar industry and Chinese medicine factory显示文摘The waste biomass produced from sugar industry and Chinese medicine factory such as bagasse,reed root residue,pueraria residue and liquorice residue were selected as the raw material for the preparation of activated carbon with zinc chloride as activator.With the same activation time,the influence of temperature and impregnation ratio on the preparation of activated carbon was investigated and the reasonable preparation conditions of activated carbon were monitored and analyzed.The obtained activated carbon samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller,methylene blue adsorption,thermogravimetric analysis and nitrogen adsorption-desorption.Analysis from the experimental data,bagasse,reed root residue,pueraria residue are suitable for preparing activated carbon.For bagasse,the optimum preparation condition was 700℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:1,the adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 246.83 mg/g at the moment.For reed root residue,the optimum preparation condition was 600℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:2,the adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 268.07 mg/g at the moment.For Pueraria residue,the optimum preparation condition was 700℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:2.The adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 297.33 mg/g at the moment.Zhen Li Qiang Han ZhiFan Zong Qi Xu KaiWei Wang 2020Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2020,2,1:3

5Anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide depend on mitochondrial complex-Ⅱ and the production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species显示文摘Sulfonylureas are widely used oral anti-diabetic drugs.However,its long-term usage effects on patients’lifespan remain controversial,with no reports of influence on animal longevity.Hence,the anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide along with glimepiride,glibenclamide,and tolbutamide were studied with special emphasis on the interaction of chlorpropamide with mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+(mito K-ATP)channels and mitochondrial complex II.Chlorpropamide delayed aging in Caenorhabditis elegans,human lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells and reduced doxorubicin-induced senescence in both MRC-5 cells and mice.In addition,the mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP levels were significantly increased in chlorpropamide-treated worms,which is consistent with the function of its reported targets,mito K-ATP channels.Increased levels of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)were observed in chlorpropamide-treated worms.Moreover,the lifespan extension by chlorpropamide required complex II and increased mt ROS levels,indicating that chlorpropamide acts on complex II directly or indirectly via mito K-ATP to increase the production of mt ROS as a pro-longevity signal.This study provides mechanistic insight into the anti-aging effects of sulfonylureas in C.elegans.Zhifan Mao Wenwen Liu Yunyuan Huang Tianyue Sun Keting Bao Jiali Feng Alexey Moskalev Zelan Hu Jian Li 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:2

7Squeezing bandwidth controllable twin beam light and phase sensitive nonlinear interferometer based on atomic ensembles显示文摘We review our recent experimental progress in quantum technology employing amplification effect of four-wave mixing in a rubidium vapor. We have produced an intensity difference squeezed light source at frequencies as low as 1.5 kHz which is so far the lowest frequency at which squeezing has been observed in an atomic system. Moreover, we find that the bandwidth of our squeezed light source can be controlled with light intensity pumping. Using our non-classical light source, we have further developed a nonlinear Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer, for which the maximum fringe intensity depends quadratically on the intensity of the phase-sensing field at the high-gain regime, leading to much better sensitivity than a linear MZ interferometer in which the beam splitters have the same phase-sensing intensity. 10Systematical analysis of sludge treatment and disposal technologies for carbon footprint reduction显示文摘This study aims to comprehensively analyze the Greenhouse Gases(GHGs)emissions from current sewage sludge treatment and disposal technologies(buildingmaterial,landfill,land spreading,anaerobic digestion,and thermochemical processes)based on the database of Science Citation Index(SCI)and Social Science Citation Index(SSCI)from 1998 to 2020.The general patterns,spatial distribution,and hotspotswere provided by bibliometric analysis.A comparative quantitative analysis based on life cycle assessment(LCA)put forward the current emission situation and the key influencing factors of different technologies.The effective GHG emissions reduction methods were proposed to mitigate climate change.Results showed that incineration or building materials manufacturing of highly dewatered sludge,and land spreading after anaerobic digestion have the best GHG emissions reduction benefits.Biological treatment technologies and thermochemical processes have great potential for reducing GHGs.Enhancement of pretreatment effect,co-digestion,and newtechnologies(e.g.,injection of carbon dioxide,directional acidification)are major approaches to facilitate substitution emissions in sludge anaerobic digestion.The relationship between the quality and efficiency of secondary energy in thermochemical process and GHGs emission still needs further study.Solid sludge products generated by bio-stabilization or thermochemical processes are considered to have a certain carbon sequestration value and can improve the soil environment to control GHG emissions.The findings are useful for future development and processes selection of sludge treatment and disposal facing carbon footprint reduction.Yingxin Zhao Zhifan Yang Jiaojiao Niu Zihan Du Conti Federica Zhe Zhu Kaichao Yang Yan Li Baofeng Zhao Thomas Helmer Pedersen Chunguang Liu Mutabazi Emmanuel 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,6:1

12The CXCR4-CXCL12 axis promotes T cell reconstitution via efficient hematopoietic immigration显示文摘T cells play a critical role in immunity to protect against pathogens and malignant cells.T cell immunodeficiency is detrimental,especially when T cell perturbation occurs during severe infection,irradiation,chemotherapy,and age-related thymic atrophy.Therefore,strategies that enhance T cell reconstitution provide considerable benefit and warrant intensive investigation.Here,we report the construction of a T cell ablation model in Tg(coro1a:Den NTR)zebrafish via metronidazole administration.The nascent T cells are mainly derived from the hematopoietic cells migrated from the kidney,the functional homolog of bone marrow and the complete recovery time is 6.5 days post-treatment.The cxcr4b gene is upregulated in the responsive hematopoietic cells.Functional interference of CXCR4 via both genetic and chemical manipulations does not greatly affect T lymphopoiesis,but delays T cell regeneration by disrupting hematopoietic migration.In contrast,cxcr4b accelerates the replenishment of hematopoietic cells in the thymus.Consistently,Cxcl12b,a ligand of Cxcr4,is increased in the thymic epithelial cells of the injured animals.Decreased or increased expression of Cxcl12b results in compromised or accelerated T cell recovery,respectively,similar to those observed with Cxcr4b.Taken together,our study reveals a role of CXCR4-CXCL12 signaling in promoting T cell recovery and provides a promising target for the treatment of immunodeficiency due to T cell injury.Fangying Zhao Yafang Lu Zhifan Li Jiangyong He Nianfei Cui Lingfei Luo Li Li 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,12:1
13Preliminary report of the September 5,2022 M_(S) 6.8 Luding earthquake,Sichuan,China显示文摘The 2022 M_(S)6.8 Luding earthquake is the strongest earthquake in Sichuan Province, Western China, since the 2017 M_(S)7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake. It occurred on the Moxi fault in the southeastern segment of the Xianshuihe fault, a tectonically active and mountainous region with severe secondary earthquake disasters. To better understand the seismogenic mechanism and provide scientific support for future hazard mitigation, we summarize the preliminary results of the Luding earthquake, including seismotectonic background, seismicity and mainshock source characteristics and aftershock properties, and direct and secondary damage associated with the mainshock.The peak ground displacements in the NS and EW directions observed by the nearest GNSS station SCCM are ~35 mm and ~55 mm, respectively, resulting in the maximum coseismic dislocation of 20 mm along the NWW direction, which is consistent with the sinistral slip on the Xianshuihe fault. Back-projection of teleseismic P waves suggest that the mainshock rupture propagated toward south-southeast. The seismic intensity of the mainshock estimated from the back-projection results indicates a Mercalli scale of Ⅷ or above near the ruptured area,consistent with the results from instrumental measurements and field surveys. Numerous aftershocks were reported, with the largest being M_(S)4.5. Aftershock locations(up to September 18, 2022) exhibit 3 clusters spanning an area of 100 km long and 30 km wide. The magnitude and rate of aftershocks decreased as expected, and the depths became shallower with time. The mainshock and two aftershocks show left-lateral strike-slip focal mechanisms. For the aftershock sequence, the b-value from the Gutenberg-Richter frequency-magnitude relationship, h-value, and p-value for Omori’s law for aftershock decay are 0.81, 1.4, and 1.21, respectively, indicating that this is a typical mainshock-aftershock sequence. The low b-value implies high background stress in the hypocenter region. Analysis from remote sensing satellite images and UAV data shows that the distribution of earthquake-triggered landslides was consistent with the aftershock area. 16Alterations in immune cell heterogeneities in the brain of aged zebrafish using single-cell resolution显示文摘Immunocytes,including the microglia,are crucial in the neurodegenerative process in old people.However,the understanding regarding microglia heterogeneity and other involved immunocytes remains elusive.We analyzed 26,456 immunocytes from 12-and 26-month-old zebrafish brains at single-cell resolution.Microglia and T lymphocytes were detected in the brain at both time points.Two types of microglia were annotated,namely,ac+microglia and xr+microglia,which were clustered into subsets 1,2,3,4,5,and subsets 6,7,8,9,respectively.Diversified microglia predominated the adult brains and cooperated with T cells to perform the functions of immune response and neuronal nutrition.We validated the specific microglia markers.The novel transgenic lines,Tg(lgals3bpb:e GFP)and Tg(apoc1:e GFP),were created,which faithfully labeled ac+microglia and served as valuable labeling tools.However,the microglia population reduced while T cells of six subtypes intriguingly increased to serve as the primary immune cells in aged brains.Unlike in 12-month-old brains,T cells,together with microglia,exhibited a coordinated signature of inflammation in the 26-month-old brains.Our findings revealed the immunocytes atlas in aged zebrafish brains.It implied the involvement of microglia and T cells in the progression of neurodegeneration in aging.Jiangyong He Fangying Zhao Bingyue Chen Nianfei Cui Zhifan Li Jie Qin Lingfei Luo Congjian Zhao Li Li 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,6:0
