| 2 | Strongly peraluminous granites of Mesozoic in Eastern Nanling Range, southern China: Petrogenesis and implications for tectonics显示文摘The strongly peraluminous granites (SPGs) of Eastern Nanling Range (ENR) are a characteristic of all bearing highly aluminous minerals, such as muscovite±Al-rich biotite±tourmaline±garnet, and lack of cordierite. In respect of petrography, geochemistry, Nd isotope, and single grain zircon U-Pb dating, the representative granite bodies of them are studied. The research shows that these granites were emplaced in two stages, namely 228-225 Ma BP and J2-3 159-156 Ma BP, belonging to Indosinian and early Yanshanian periods, respectively, and they have low εNd(t) values (-10.6--11.1), high A/CNK, Rb/Sr ratios and tDM values (1887-1817 Ma), and REE's tetrad effect (TE1, 3=1.13-1.34). In comparison with related geology, petrology and chronology of granites in adjacent regions, it is suggested that Indosinian SPGs of ENR formed in the circumstance of post-collisional extension 20 Ma after the major collision of Indosinian Movement (258-243 Ma BP) in Indo-China Peninsula, and early Yanshanian SPGs formed in the background of back-arc extension setting controlled by paleo-Pacific tectonic domain, and J1, the interval of two stages, is the interim from Tethyan to Pacific tectonic domains in South China. | 3 | The State of the Art of Data Science and Engineering in Structural Health Monitoring显示文摘Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a multi-discipline field that involves the automatic sensing of structural loads and response by means of a large number of sensors and instruments, followed by a diagnosis of the structural health based on the collected data. Because an SHM system implemented into a structure automatically senses, evaluates, and warns about structural conditions in real time, massive data are a significant feature of SHM. The techniques related to massive data are referred to as data science and engineering, and include acquisition techniques, transition techniques, management techniques, and processing and mining algorithms for massive data. This paper provides a brief review of the state of the art of data science and engineering in SHM as investigated by these authors, and covers the compressive sampling-based data-acquisition algorithm, the anomaly data diagnosis approach using a deep learning algorithm, crack identification approaches using computer vision techniques, and condition assessment approaches for bridges using machine learning algorithms. | 4 | Geochronology, geochemistry, and its geological significance of the Permian Mandula mafic rocks in Damaoqi, Inner Mongolia显示文摘The Hujierte-Chaganhadamiao volcanic-plutonic sequence is located in the Mandula area of northern Damaoqi, Inner Mongolia. It contains mainly mafic volcanics, with several ultramafic blocks in its central part and mafic-intermediate intrusions in the east. The zircon U-Pb ages of the gabbro and basalt samples are 278.5±3.0 Ma (MSWD=0.66) and 273.7±1.0 Ma (MSWD=0.36), respectively. These ages constrain the magmatism occurred in the Early Permian. The Mandula Permian mafic rocks are characterized by low abundances of REE and slightly LREE-enriched chondrite-normalized N-MORB-type REE patterns. And these mafic samples have high ( 143 Nd/ 144 Nd) i (0.51262-0.51270), relatively high positive ε Nd (t) (3.4-8.0), and high Mg # (49-54), suggesting derivation from the depleted asthenosphere mantle source. But they also show the enrichment in large ion lithophile elements (LILE, e.g. Rb, Ba and Sr), depletion in high field strength elements (HFSE); distinctly negative Nb, Ta anomalies and slightly negative P, Ti anomalies; high ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr) i (0.70490-0.70537), low ( 206 Pb/ 204 Pb) i (17.39-17.93). All of these resemble the characteristics of the enriched mantle source or involvement of arc materials in the magma genesis. Furthermore, as shown in the correlation plots of ε Nd (t) vs ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr) i , ( 206 Pb/ 204 Pb) i vs ( 207 Pb/ 204 Pb) i and ( 208 Pb/ 204 Pb) i , La/Ba La/Nb vs La/Nb, and La/Nb ratio, the magma source could have been experienced the contamination and metasomation from the previous subduction process. And the positive correlation between the selected major oxides and trace elements could be explained by the contamination from continental crust and arc materials during the magmatic emplacement. | 5 | The Reference Genome Sequence of Scutellaria baicalensis Provides Insights into the Evolution of Wogonin Biosynthesis显示文摘Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi is important in Chinese traditional medicine where preparations of dried roots,'Huang Qin,' are used for liver and lung complaints and as complementary cancer treatments. We report a high-quality reference genome sequence for S. baicalensis where 93% of the 408.14-Mb genome has been assembled into nine pseudochromosomes with a super-N50 of 33.2 Mb. Comparison of this sequence with those of closely related species in the order Lamiales, sesamum indicum and Salvia splendens,revealed that a specialized metabolic pathway for the synthesis of 4'-deoxyflavone bioactives evolved in the genus Scu-tellaria. We found that the gene encoding a specific cinnamate coenzyme A ligase likely obtained its newfunc- tion following recent mutations, and that four genes encoding enzymes in the 4'-deoxyflavone pathway are present as tandem repeats in the genome of S. baicalensis. Further analyses revealed that gene duplications, segmental duplication, gene amplification, and point mutations coupled to gene neo- and subfunctionaliza-tions were involved in the evolution of 4'-deoxyflavone synthesis in the genus Scutellaria. Our study not only provides significant insight into the evolution of specific flavone biosynthetic pathways in the mint family, Lamiaceae, but also will facilitate the development of tools for enhancing bioactive productivity by metabolic engineering in microbes or by molecular breeding in plants. | 6 | Surgical approaches for stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis:feasibility of complete video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) thymectomy in comparison with trans-sternal resection显示文摘Complete resection could be achieved in virtually all myasthenic patients with Masaoka stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ thymoma using the trans-sternal technique.Whether this is appropriate for minimally invasive approach is not yet clear.We evaluated the feasibility of complete video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) thymectomy for the treatment of Masaoka stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis,compared to conventional trans-sternal thymectomy.We summarized 33 patients with Masaoka stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis between April 2006 and September 2011.Of these,15 patients underwent right-sided complete VATS (the VATS group) by using adjuvant pneuomomediastinum,comparing with 18 patients using the trans-sternal approach (the T3b group).No intraoperative death was found and no VATS case required conversion to median sternotomy.Significant differences between the two groups regarding duration of surgery and volume of intraoperative blood loss (P=0.001 and P < 0.001,respectively) were observed.Postoperative morbidities were 26.7% and 33.3% for the VATS and T3b groups,respectively.All 33 patients were followed up for 12 to 61 months in the study.The cumulative probabilities of reaching complete stable remission and effective rate were 26.7% (4/15) and 93.3% (14/15) in the VATS group,which had a significantly higher complete stable remission and effective rate than those in the T3b group (P=0.026 and P=0.000,respectively).We conclude that VATS thymectomy utilizing adjuvant pneuomomediastinum for the treatment of stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis is technically feasible but deserves further investigation in a large series with long-term follow-up. | Zhicheng He Quan Zhu Wei Wen Liang Chen Hai Xu Hai Li | 2013 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,1: | 15 |

| 8 | Mesozoic and Cenozoic uplift and exhumation of the Bogda Mountain,NW China: Evidence from apatite fission track analysis显示文摘Apatite fission track(AFT)analysis on samples collected from a Paleozoic series is used to constrain the cooling history of the Bogda Mountain,northwest China.AFT ages range from 136.2 to 85.6 Ma and are younger than rock depositional ages and the mean confined track lengths(11.0e13.2 mm)mostly showing unimodal distribution are shorten,indicating significant track-annealing.Thermal histories modeling based on the distribution of fission-track lengths combined with the regional geological data show that two rapid cooling phases occurred in the latest Jurassiceearly Cretaceous and the OligoceneeMiocene.Those new data together with previous published data show that the AFT ages become younger from the southwest to northeast in the western Bogda Mountain and its adjacent areas.The fission-track ages of the southwest area are relatively older(>100 Ma),recording the earlier rapid uplift phase during the late JurassiceCretaceous,while the ages in the north piedmont of the Bogda Mountain(namely the northeast part)are younger(<60 Ma),mainly reflecting the later rapid uplift phase in the OligoceneeMiocene.The trend of younger AFT ages towards the northeast might be explained by post-Cretaceous large-scale crustal tilting towards the southwest.In the thrust fault-dominated northern limbs of the Bogda Mountain,AFT ages reveal a discontinuous pattern with age-jumps across the major fault zones,showing a possible strata tilting across each thrust faults due to the thrust ramps during the Cenozoic.The two rapid uplift stages might be related to the accretion and collision in the southern margin of the Asian continent during the late Jurassic and late Cenozoic,respectively. | Wenhao Tang Zhicheng Zhang Jianfeng Li Ke Li Zhiwen Luo Yan Chen | 2015 | Geoscience Frontiers2015,6,4: | 9 |
| 9 | Antigenically dominant proteins within the human liver mitochondrial proteome identified by monoclonal antibodies显示文摘Analysis of the mitochondrial proteome would provide valuable insight into the function of this important organelle, which plays key roles in energy metabolism, apoptosis, free radical production, thermogenesis, and calcium signaling. It could also increase our understanding about the mechanisms that promote mitochondrial disease. To identify proteins that are antigenically dominant in human liver mitochondria, we generated >240 hybridoma cell lines from native mitochondrial proteins after cell fusion, screening, and cloning. Antibodies that recognized mitochondrial proteins were identified by screening human liver cDNA expression libraries. In this study, we identified 6 major antigens that were recognized by at least 2 different monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). The proteins that were antigenically dominant were: acetyl-Coenzyme A acyltransferase 2 (mitochondrial 3-oxoacyl-Coenzyme A thiolase), aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A1, carbamoyl phosphate synthetase 1, dihydrolipoamide S-acetyltransferase (E2 component of pyruvate dehydrogenase complex), enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1, and hydroxysteroid (11-beta) dehydrogenase 1. We also determined the subcellular localizations of these enzymes within the mitochondria using immunohistocytochemistry. We believe that these well-characterized antibodies will provide a valuable resource for the Human Liver Proteome Project (HLPP), and will make studies aimed at investigating liver mitochondrial function far easier to perform in future. | 11 | Classification of Ferrallitic Soils in Chinese Soil Taxonomy显示文摘The development of the classification of ferrallitic soils in China is reviewed and the classification ofFerralisols and Ferrisols in Chinese Soil Taxonomy is introduced in order to discuss the correlation betweenthe ferrallitic soil classification in the Chinese Soil Taxonomy and those of the other soil classification systems.In the former soil classification systems of China, the ferrallitic soils were classified into the soil groups ofLatosols, Latosolic red soils, Red soils, Yellow soils and Dry red soils, according to the combination of soilforming conditions, soil-forming processes, soil features and soil properties. In the Chinese Soil Taxonomy,most of ferrallitic soils are classified into the soil orders of Ferralisols and Ferrisols based on the diagnostichorizons and/or diagnostic characteristics with quantitatively defined properties. Ferralisols are the soilsthat have ferralic horizon, and they are merely subdivided into one suborder and two soil groups. Ferrisolsare the soils that have LAC-ferric horizon but do not have ferralic horizon, and they are subdivided intothree suborders and eleven soil groups. | 13 | A New Material of Lindera (Lauraceae) of the Late Pliocene from Tengchong, Yunnan and the Genus' Biogeography Significance显示文摘Lindera is a large genus of graceful, pleasantly scented and common native trees and shrubs of southern China and neighboring regions of SE Asia. There is a well-documented Cenozoic fossil record not only in these regions but also from elsewhere. A new fossil leaf record has been found in diatomite beds from the Upper Pliocene Mangbang Formation of Tuantian, Tengchong County, Yunnan. The leaves are identified and assigned to Lindera acuminatissima K. Q. Dao et B. N. Sun sp. nov., by comparing their leaf architecture and epidermal characteristics with those of 51 extant Lauraceae species and with 15 known fossil Lindera taxa. The specimens have well-preserved cuticles, with typical leaf architecture and epidermal characteristics of the Lauraceae, including entire leaf margin, intramarginal veins, basal ternate acrodromous primary veins, one-cell trichome base, paracytic stomatal apparatus, sunken guard cells, subsidiary hardly staining cells and presence of oil cells. These characteristics are consistent with Lindera sect. Daphnidium but are different from reported fossil and extant species of Lindera. The cuticles of Lindera are fragile and delicate with only three Lindera fossils reported based on this tissue. In terms of paleobiogeography, the fossil record indicates that Lindera is distributed in high- to mid-latitude regions of the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene northern hemisphere. Coincidentally, the records of Lindera located on both sides of the Bering Land Bridge possibly support the hypothesis that ancient plants extended via transcontinental exchanges through the Bering Corridor. In the Eocene, ancient Lindera spread to Europe through the Northern Degeer Route and the Southern Thulian Route. At the same time, ancient Lindera spread into Central Asia. Climatic changes and tectonization since the Neogene prevented the propagation of Lindera throughout Asia, North America and Europe, and hence the distribution areas have just regressed to the low-latitude regions in Asia and North America. From the Paleogene to the Neogene, Lindera has changed its distribution by surviving extreme climate changes. Quaternary glaciations ultimately led to Lindera becoming extinct in Europe. MG-63 cells were used in alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity and mineralization assays. Zebrafish and male Wistar rats were used to evaluate the effects of CCP on bone repair in vivo.RESULTS: A simple preparation of CCP promoted osteogenesis in vivo and in vitro, and promoted MG-63 cell proliferation as well as ALP activity and mineralization. In addition, CCP activated Akt and extracellular signaling-regulated kinase pathways and significantly increased the expression of ossification-related genes and proteins such as runt-related transcription factor-2, osteocalcin, and osteopontin. | 16 | Emerging roles of activating transcription factor (ATF) family members in tumourigenesis and immunity: Implications in cancer immunotherapy显示文摘Activating transcription factors, ATFs, are a group of bZIP transcription factors that act as homodimers or heterodimers with a range of other bZIP factors. In general, ATFs respond to extracellular signals, indicating their important roles in maintaining homeostasis. The ATF family includes ATF1, ATF2, ATF3, ATF4, ATF5, ATF6, and ATF7. Consistent with the diversity of cellular processes reported to be regulated by ATFs, the functions of ATFs are also diverse. ATFs play an important role in cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation and inflammation-related pathological processes. The expression and phosphorylation status of ATFs are also related to neurodegenerative diseases and polycystic kidney disease. Various miRNAs target ATFs to regulate cancer proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, sensitivity and resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Moreover, ATFs are necessary to maintain cell redox homeostasis. Therefore, deepening our understanding of the regulation and function of ATFs will provide insights into the basic regulatory mechanisms that influence how cells integrate extracellular and intracellular signals into genomic responses through transcription factors. Under pathological conditions, especially in cancer biology and response to treatment, the characterization of ATF dysfunction is important for understanding how to therapeutically utilize ATF2 or other pathways controlled by transcription factors. Dt1, a homolog of Arabidopsis TERMINAL FLOWER 1(TFL1), is a major controller of stem growth habit, but its underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear.Here, we demonstrate that Dt1 affects node number and plant height, as well as flowering time,in soybean under long-day conditions. The b ZIP transcription factor FDc1 physically interacts with Dt1, and the FDc1-Dt1 complex directly represses the expression of APETALA1(AP1). We propose that FT5 a inhibits Dt1 activity via a competitive interaction with FDc1 and directly upregulates AP1. Moreover, AP1 represses Dt1 expression by directly binding to the Dt1 promoter, suggesting that AP1 and Dt1 form a suppressive regulatory feedback loop to determine the fate of the shoot apical meristem. | 20 | A four-gene signature-derived risk score for glioblastoma:prospects for prognostic and response predictive analyses显示文摘Objective: Glioblastoma(GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor regulated by numerous genes, with poor survival outcomes and unsatisfactory response to therapy.Therefore, a robust, multi-gene signature-derived model is required to predict the prognosis and treatment response in GBM.Methods: Gene expression data of GBM from TCGA and GEO datasets were used to identify differentially expressed genes(DEGs)through DESeq2 or LIMMA methods.The DEGs were then overlapped and used for survival analysis by univariate and multivariate COX regression.Based on the gene signature of multiple survival-associated DEGs, a risk score model was established,and its prognostic and predictive role was estimated through Kaplan–Meier analysis and log-rank test.Gene set enrichment analysis(GSEA) was conducted to explore high-risk score-associated pathways.Western blot was used for protein detection.Results: Four survival-associated DEGs of GBM were identified: OSMR, HOXC10, SCARA3, and SLC39A10.The four-gene signature-derived risk score was higher in GBM than in normal brain tissues.GBM patients with a high-risk score had poor survival outcomes.The high-risk group treated with temozolomide chemotherapy or radiotherapy survived for a shorter duration than the low-risk group.GSEA showed that the high-risk score was enriched with pathways such as vasculature development and cell adhesion.Western blot confirmed that the proteins of these four genes were differentially expressed in GBM cells.Conclusions: The four-gene signature-derived risk score functions well in predicting the prognosis and treatment response in GBM and will be useful for guiding therapeutic strategies for GBM patients. | Mianfu Cao Juan Cai Ye Yuan Yu Shi Hong Wu Qing Liu Yueliang Yao Lu Chen Weiqi Dang XiangZhang Jingfang Xiao Kaidi Yang Zhicheng He Xiaohong Yao Yonghong Cui Xia Zhang Xiuwu Bian | 2019 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,3: | 2 |
