| 1 | Historical trends of heavy metal contamination and their sources in lacustrine sediment from Xijiu Lake,Taihu Lake Catchment,China显示文摘Concentrations of Cd,Cr,Cu,Pb,Zn and Hg in Xijiu Lake sediment from the Taihu Lake catchment,China,were analyzed.Their contamination state was investigated based on the geoaccumulation index and enrichment factors.Statistical analysis was used to differentiate the anthropogenic versus natural sources of heavy metals (HMs),and the anthropogenic accumulation fluxes were calculated to quantify anthropogenic contribution to HMs.The results indicated that the lake sediment had been heavily contaminated by Cd,enrichment of Zn and Hg was at a relatively high level,while that of Cu and Pb was in the lower-to-moderate level and Cr was in the low enrichment level.Sources of Cr in the sediment were mainly from natural inputs,while other metals,especially Cd,were predominantly derived from anthropogenic sources.In the past century,anthropogenic accumulation fluxes of Pb,Zn and Hg increased by 0.1-47.3 mg/(cm2·yr),2.4-398.1 mg/(cm2·yr),and 3.7-110.3 ng/(m2·yr),respectively,accounting for most inputs of HMs entering the sediment.The contamination state of HMs varied with industrial development of the catchment,which demonstrated that contamination started in the early 20th century,reached the maximal level between the mid-1970s and mid-1990s,and decreased a little after the implementation of constraints on high contamination industries,although the contamination of some HMs,such as Cd,Zn and Hg,is still at high levels. | Haijian Bing Yanhong Wu Zhaobin Sun Shuchun Yao | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10: | 18 |
| 2 | The enrichment characteristics of mercury in the sediments of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, in the past century显示文摘The concentration and the enrichment factors of mercury (Hg) in the sediment cores of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, were studied. The accumulation fluxes, anthropogenic input concentration and anthropogenic accumulation fluxes of Hg in recent 100 years were also analyzed based on the 210Pb dating. The results indicate that the increasing concentrations of Hg in the sediments are influ-enced by natural factors and anthropogenic input simultaneously. Generally, about 2/3 of the Hg in the sediment was from anthropogenic sources. In the early 20th century, the anthropogenic input was owing to the urban development and fossil fuel consumptions surrounding the Taihu Lake and the worldwide atmospheric deposition of Hg since the industrial revolution. The concentration and an-thropogenic fluxes of Hg increased with the industrial development in the catchment since the 1930s. | 3 | Emission inventory evaluation using observations of regional atmospheric background stations of China显示文摘Any accurate simulation of regional air quality by numerical models entails accurate and up-to-date emissions data for that region.The INTEX-B2006 (I06),one of the newest emission inventories recently popularly used in China and East Asia,has been assessed using the Community Multiscale Air Quality model and observations from regional atmospheric background stations of China.Comparisons of the model results with the observations for the species SO2,NO 2,O 3 and CO from the three regional atmospheric background stations of Shangdianzi,Longfengshan and Linan show that the model can basically capture the temporal characteristics of observations such as the monthly,seasonal and diurnal variance trends.Compared to the other three species,the simulated CO values were grossly underestimated by about two-third or one-half of the observed values,related to the uncertainty in CO emissions.Compared to the other two stations,Shangdianzi had poorer simulations,especially for SO2 and CO,which partly resulted from the site location close to local emission sources from the Beijing area;and the regional inventory used was not capable of capturing the influencing factors of strong regional sources on stations.Generally,the fact that summer gave poor simulation,especially for SO2 and O 3,might partly relate to poor simulations of meteorological fields such as temperature and wind. | Xingqin An Zhaobin Sun Weili Lin Min Jin Nan Li | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 7 |
| 4 | Oscillation of Surface PM2.5 Concentration Resulting from an Alternation of Easterly and Southerly Winds in Beijing: Mechanisms and Implications显示文摘We used simultaneous measurements of surface PM_(2.5) concentration and vertical profiles of aerosol concentration,temperature, and humidity, together with regional air quality model simulations, to study an episode of aerosol pollution in Beijing from 15 to 19 November 2016. The potential effects of easterly and southerly winds on the surface concentrations and vertical profiles of the PM_(2.5) pollution were investigated. Favorable easterly winds produced strong upward motion and were able to transport the PM_(2.5) pollution at the surface to the upper levels of the atmosphere. The amount of surface PM_(2.5) pollution transported by the easterly winds was determined by the strength and height of the upward motion produced by the easterly winds and the initial height of the upward wind. A greater amount of PM_(2.5) pollution was transported to upper levels of the atmosphere by upward winds with a lower initial height. The pollutants were diluted by easterly winds from clean ocean air masses. The inversion layer was destroyed by the easterly winds and the surface pollutants and warm air masses were then lifted to the upper levels of the atmosphere, where they re-established a multi-layer inversion. This region of inversion was strengthened by the southerly winds, increasing the severity of pollution. A vortex was produced by southerly winds that led to the convergence of air along the Taihang Mountains. Pollutants were transported from southern–central Hebei Province to Beijing in the boundary layer. Warm advection associated with the southerly winds intensified the inversion produced by the easterly winds and a more stable boundary layer was formed. The layer with high PM_(2.5) concentration became dee-per with persistent southerly winds of a certain depth. Simultaneous measurements of atmospheric visibility by Micro-pulsed lidar(MPL) and a commer-cial visibility meter(VM) NQ-1 have been performed to evaluate the feasibility of the MPL system designed by the Ocean Remote Sensing Laboratory(ORSL) of the Ocean University of China(OUC) from October 21 2005 to November 21 2005 in the Shilaoren Sightseeing Garden on the Qingdao coast. | 6 | Culture medium optimization for pigment production with RSM method显示文摘Response surface methodology was used to optimize a medium for a red-pigmented marine bacterium S-9801 strain (Flavobacterium sp.). In the first optimization step the influence of yeast extract, peptone, glucose and sodium chloride on pigment production was evaluated using a fractional factorial design. Pigment production was positively influenced by glucose and sodium chloride while other components had no significant effect. In the second step the path of steepest ascent was used to approach the optimal region of the medium composition. In the third step the optimal concentration of glucose and sodium chloride was determined by a central composite design and response analysis. | 7 | Analysis on the Impacts of Straw Burning on Air Quality in Beijing -Tianjing - Hebei Region显示文摘The beginning of October is the high occurrence period of straw burning in North China and Jianghuai region. Heavy pollution weather caused by straw burning often takes place in recent two years,and thus human factor increases the unpredictability of the air quality forecast. In the early autumn of 2015,a continuous fog-haze weather and heavy air pollution event occurred in North China and Jianghuai region due to the straw burning. In this paper,the effect of straw burning on air quality under the same adverse diffusive meteorological conditions has been analyzed by using the ground and upper air meteorological observation data and air quality monitoring data of Environmental Protection Agency in recent two years. The comparison results show that the basic conditions of heavy pollution are weak wind and the unfavorable diffusion situation. | 10 | Tracking a Severe Pollution Event in Beijing in December 2016 with the GRAPES–CUACE Adjoint Model显示文摘We traced the adjoint sensitivity of a severe pollution event in December 2016 in Beijing using the adjoint model of the GRAPES–CUACE(Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediction System coupled with the China Meteorological Administration Unified Atmospheric Chemistry Environmental Forecasting System). The key emission sources and periods affecting this severe pollution event are analyzed. For comaprison, we define 2000 Beijing Time 3 December 2016 as the objective time when PM_(2.5) reached the maximum concentration in Beijing. It is found that the local hourly sensitivity coefficient amounts to a peak of 9.31 μg m^(–3) just 1 h before the objective time, suggesting that PM_(2.5) concentration responds rapidly to local emissions. The accumulated sensitivity coefficient in Beijing is large during the 20-h period prior to the objective time, showing that local emissions are the most important in this period.The accumulated contribution rates of emissions from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shanxi are 34.2%, 3.0%, 49.4%,and 13.4%, respectively, in the 72-h period before the objective time. The evolution of hourly sensitivity coefficient shows that the main contribution from the Tianjin source occurs 1–26 h before the objective time and its peak hourly contribution is 0.59 μg m^(–3) at 4 h before the objective time. The main contributions of the Hebei and Shanxi emission sources occur 1–54 and 14–53 h, respectively, before the objective time and their hourly sensitivity coefficients both show periodic fluctuations. The Hebei source shows three sensitivity coefficient peaks of 3.45, 4.27, and 0.71 μg m^(–3) at 4, 16, and 38 h before the objective time, respectively. The sensitivity coefficient of the Shanxi source peaks twice, with values of 1.41 and 0.64 μg m^(–3) at 24 and 45 h before the objective time, respectively. | 11 | Heterogeneity induced strain localization in block-in-matrix-soils subjected to uniaxial loading using real-time CT scanning显示文摘Block-in-matrix-soils(bimsoils)are geological mixtures that have distinct structures consisting of relatively strong rock blocks and weak matrix soils.It is still a challenge to evaluate the mechanical behaviors of bimsoils because of the heterogeneity,chaotic structure,and lithological variability.As a result,only very limited laboratory studies have been reported on the evolution of their internal deformation.In this study,the deformation evolution of bimsoils under uniaxial loading is investigated using real-time X-ray computed tomography(CT)and image correlation algorithm(with a rock block percentage(RBP)of 40%).Three parameters,i.e.heterogeneity coefficient(K),correlation coefficient(CC),and standard deviation(STD)of displacement fields,are proposed to quantify the heterogeneity of the motion of the rock blocks and the progressive deformation of the bimsoils.Experimental results show that the rock blocks in bimsoils are prone to forming clusters with increasing loading,and the sliding surface goes around only one side of a cluster.Based on the movement of the rock blocks recorded by STD and CC,the progressive deformation of the bimsoils is quantitatively divided into three stages:initialization of the rotation of rock blocks,formation of rock block clusters,and formation of a shear band by rock blocks with significant rotation.Moreover,the experimental results demonstrate that the meso-motion of rock blocks controls the macroscopic mechanical properties of the samples. | Yanfang Wu Xiao Li Luqing Zhang Shengwen Qi Jian Zhou Jianming He Zhaobin Zhang Xiukuo Sun | 2023 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,8: | 0 |

| 13 | Phenomenology of plume-surface interactions and preliminary results from the Tianwen-1 landing crater on Mars显示文摘The plume-surface interaction(PSI)is a common phenomenon that describes the environment surrounding the landers resulting from the impingement of hot rocket exhaust on the regolith of planetary bodies.The PSI will cause obscuration,erosion of the planetary surface,and high-speed spreading of dust or high-energy ejecta streams,which will induce risks to a safe landing and cause damage to payloads on the landers or to nearby assets.Safe landings and the subsequent scientific goals of deep-space exploration in China call for a comprehensive understanding of the PSI process,including the plume flow mechanics,erosion mechanism,and ejecta dynamics.In addition,the landing crater caused by the plume provides a unique and insightful perspective on the understanding of PSI.In particular,the PSI can be used directly to constrain the composition,structure,and mechanical properties of the surface and subsurface soil.In this study,we conducted a systematic review of the phenomenology and terrestrial tests of PSI:we analyzed the critical factors in the PSI process and compared the differences in PSI phenomena between lunar and Martian conditions;we also reviewed the main erosion mechanisms and the evolution and development of terrestrial tests on PSI.We discuss the problems with PSI,challenges of terrestrial tests,and prospects of PSI,and we show the preliminary results obtained from the landing crater caused by the PSI of Tianwen-1.From analysis of the camera images and digital elevation model reconstructions,we concluded that the landing of Tianwen-1 caused the deepest crater(depth>40 cm)on a planetary surface reported to date and revealed stratigraphic layers in the subsurface of Martian soil.We further constrained the lower bounds of the mechanical properties of Martian soil by a slope stability analysis of the Tianwen-1 landing crater.The PSI may offer promising opportunities to obtain greater insights into planetary science,including the subsurface structure,mineral composition,and properties of soil. | Tao Xu Bo Zheng ZhaoBin Zhang Juan Li ShouDing Li XinShuo Chen XiuKuo Sun YanFang Wu YiMing Diao | 2023 | Earth and Planetary Physics2023,7,3: | 0 |
| 14 | The role of high-energy computed radiography(CR)in radiotherapy显示文摘Computed radiography(CR)imaging has high irradiation tolerance and it is easy to archive CR images along with other image information by Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine(DICOM)format,and to process them.CR can be used in radiation Quality Control(QC)task and verification of treatment setting-up.In this paper,the role of high-energy CR in radiation oncology is studied.The patients were imaged by CR system and EPID before radiotherapy.All verification images were acquired with 1–2 MU(Monitor Unit)using 6 MV X-rays.QC for a linac was done with film and high-energy CR to collect the data on daily,weekly and monthly basis.The QC included Multileaf Collimators(MLC)calibration and mechanical iso-centre check.CR was also adapted to verify patient position,the film was used to compare with digitally reconstructed radiographs(DRR)and portal image from EPID. Treatment setting-up was verified based on the result of comparison.High quality verification images could be acquired by the CR system.Comparing to EPID,the results showed that the system was suitable for practical use to acquire daily verification images,and it was useful to fulfill part of quality assurance(QA)in radiation oncology.The quality of image acquired by the high-energy CR system is comparable or even better than DRRs and portal images.
